The…read moreoffice woman told me there was a "shakiness" that indicated replacing the center support bearing and the axle shaft seal also needed replaced. I OK'd that. Everything was done except charging the A/C. She gave me a long explanation that told me nothing. She likely forgot as nothing about the A/C is on the invoice. So, it will require another appointment. Also, the mileage is not listed on the invoice. They claim their work is reported to Car Fax and they should need the mileage. There is also no indication how long the repairs took, just a total bill. And there was a fee which I would have to pay if using a debit card. The management would be better served with new front counter help that is better with scheduling.

We had to get it towed back from Othello to Lewiston. I took it to another shop in town who said it had overheated and blew the head gasket $3500 estimate to fix it! When I called Peterson's the boss got on the phone and said "there was no guarantee on the work they had done"! My problem is I had NEVER had a overheating problem until they worked on it!!! About a month ago I bought an old Forrest Service pickup truck -- site unseen and 400 miles or so…read moreaway in Central Idaho (I live in Portland, Oregon). I figured the easiest (reasonably affordable) way to get the (very large) truck home would be to find a good auto service/repair shop nearby, have them get it roadworthy, then drive it home. Lewiston seemed to be the closest town of size to have some choices for repair shops, and seeing review on an online map (that starts with a G and almost rhymes with Bugle) the several reviews for Luper Automotive were all positive. Note: I usually go to Yelp! for reviews, but there were only two at the time). I gave Luper Auto a call a week before heading to get the truck and talked to Dawn -- a service manager -- who welcomed the business, and was very helpful throughout this adventure. After dealing with the logistics of getting the truck to Luper Auto, I returned home and left the truck with them for a couple of weeks, and although our business was conducted remotely -- phone calls, voicemails and emails -- I always felt that Dawn was by my side. They recommended a few minor and one somewhat major repair to make it roadworthy -- all at reasonably priced parts & labor -- and helped facilitate getting some odd-sized tires installed and a last minute add-on that I requested when I returned to drive it home. Unforeseeable, and unrelated to their work, the truck broke down the evening I picked it up and was heading back home -- about 30 miles away and after hours. I had it towed back to Luper Automotive -- dreading the thought of needing a new transmission, or at least some major transmission repair. Luper Automotive could easily have suggested those and I would have paid -- but it turned out to be a minor issue. They had a service technician in early the next day, fixed my truck, and I was back on the road (and made it all the way home without issue). All-in-all, it was a great experience to work with the fine people at Luper Automotive. They were straight forward and honest about what I needed (and didn't need) to have done. They did good work, charged fair prices, then went beyond the call of duty to expedite work so I could get back on the road and stick to my travel plans. Woo hoo! My only regret is they are 348 miles from home -- a little too far to make them my regular shop, but if YOU live (or break down) anywhere near Lewiston, I highly recommend bringing your auto/truck service, maintenance and/or repair work to them.

Then we were told we needed a new radiator to make the warranty on the transmission good. Went to pick up the vehicle and was told the O2 sensor was bad. Told them we would change it. Guess what? Problem not fixed $7K later. Took it somewhere else. They replaced the plugs. Also found the wires going to O2 sensor were pinched and was cut from installing the transmission. My advise is run, very, very fast in the other direction.

Web page says free towing for major repairs but I paid my $150 towing. Maybe this was not "major repair". Since it would take nearly a week to fix may family and I got a ride back to Portland and I rode out the next Friday to pick it up. While looking it over I noticed oil dripping from the transmission and a missing heat shield (which I found near where it had been parked). They said the oil leak was left over oil. It wasn't and smoked like it was on fire by the second hill out of Lewiston. Since it was Friday night and they were already closed, I just added oil and got it home. I ended up pulling the transmission at home and re-doing the job to discover that they had installed the seal without any sealant around the perimeter. It was soaked in oil and explained the quart/hour leak that it developed after their work. So their warranty consisted of sending me $15 in parts. But I received no compensation for having to pull the transmission and redo their shoddy work. And this is after they explained to me that they wouldn't sell me cheaper parts that could be ordered in faster because they couldn't warranty them. Apparently the warranty only will apply if your transmission won't make it out of the Lewiston hole and you are willing to spend your weekends there. I would not recommend them but you may not have too many options.

Found online that McClure Honda had Saturday Service Hours so headed to Lewiston in the morning to see if we could get some help. Only one tech on duty and they weren't sure they could fit us in, but they got under the hood and found the transmission fluid was low & brown. They didn't want us driving another 400 miles without a triple flush, so they took the car. Five hours later the work was done! Great communication throughout. And they even washed the bugs off our grill (well, they washed the whole car!) Drove back across the state at the end of the weekend and all is good. HUGE thanks to Service Advisor Josh and the entire McClure Service Crew who knew we'd be way worse off without timely repair and fit us in. Highly recommend the positive service team at McClure Honda!

Right after they completed a CV boot replacement, my car started leaking coolant -- which it never has. I thought they might have bumped a hose during the CV boot repair and took it back in only for them to tell me that they couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from. They even tried to suggest that it was an oil leak -- I think the difference between oil and coolant is pretty damn obvious and I had brought in photos of the coolant leak which clearly showed a blue-green liquid. I took my car to an independent mechanic who thoroughly examined it and said that it just needed a new hose clamp and that all the hoses were in excellent condition and did not need replacing - cost was 1/4 of what McClure wanted to charge me. I now question any of the repairs McClure did and if they even replaced the CV boot. They've lost my trust and have lost my business forever.
