Recent NYC summer humidity and sweltering heat induced me to heat exhaustion which calls for a cool down that I was mesmerized and immersed with the numerous flavors available. Omg this places is the bomb.I got the Cookie Monster. I've been coming to My Mother's Place for over 20 years! My grandma used to take me here when I was little girl with my cousins, so I clearly have fond memories of this place. Now that I've moved to CA, I still request to go this place every time I'm in town. We don't have Italian Ices in CA and most people have no idea what they even are! I miss them dearly. Nostalgia isn't the only reason I love this place; it's the vast amount of flavors! They have water ices and cream ices. From the traditional flavors like Lemon and Cherry to the more interesting flavors like Strawberry Daiquiri, Piña Colada, Bubble Gum and Rainbow; this place has it all! I love the painted building and all the flavors listed outside. There's a convenient take out window too. They give you a generous portion and it's fairly inexpensive. When I think of Italian Ices, I think of My Mother's Place. read more

My friend brought me here and I had seen it before in passing.. to confess, the area doesn't offer much... so I thought it wasn't special. Wrong. Very tasty ices with endless flavors! I bought piña colada for myself and mango for my bf. Prices were standard, $2, 3, 4 small - large, much like other places around the city. They also had large containers for more but i was far too mesmerized with the flavors and the sweltering heat. After a taste, we both were impressed how real the flavors were, fruit wise. It didn't have that crappy artificial taste that many places have. Mine even had little pieces of coconut in it! The girls behind the counter looked like the wanted to be snotty, but they were pretty nice. They even gave me a little baggie to take the bf his ice to work. I gave them a tip and they were super appreciative. Only issue is the parking situation is HORRIBLE! I'm embarrassed to say how many times I tried to come to the joint circling like a vulture hoping for a space outside of the mini strip mall.... I will be back to try more flavors. read more

A field trip for work put me right around the corner from My Mother's Place. As soon as I was done with my task... I went straight to have ices for lunch! The Spumoni and Java Chip flavors were so rich due to the ample chunks of pistachio and chocolate chips (respectively); I almost forgot that they weren't ice cream. And at $2 for a generously filled small, I thought it was a steal. I'm definitely looking forward to my next assignment in the neighborhood. I need to try the rest of the flavors! read more

I am having a throwback time. I have been staying at my parents revisiting all the old places I used to eat at all the time. I would always eat pizza along with some Italian ice from my mother place. Delicious. I am a huge fan of their pistachio, cherry, banana, and banana fudge. All amazing. Their banana tastes like a ice form of banana bread. Their cherry has legit maraschino Cherry's in like every bite. Their pistachio is just plain amazing. Unreal. I love this place. The ice is fairly cheap and is owned by local peeps in queens. My dad and I have been going here for ices for 20 years. It was always so exciting to get an ice after a boring day of school . My Mother's Place is a real treat that should not be missed!! I can see how it might be unknown to those outside the neighborhood, even those driving by may not give it a second look. The home made ices, creme ices are to die for! My personal favorite is Canolli Creme Ice, which literally tastes like canolli filling, with chunks of canolli shell! It is awesome! THE best Ice I've EVER had! All of their ices are of this high quality, and are available in a variety of sizes at a reasonable price! I have been coming here for the last 5 years and I can honestly say the ices only get BETTER! They have a variety of flavors from icy's to ice-cream! Prices have been so consistent literally never changed! Quantity is amazing for what you pay for! Noemi and Nicki are so friendly and welcoming brought my family here from Florida and although they don't let tip sample ices Noemi and Nicky made good recommendations and also allowed us to have 3 flavors in a large or above in sizes! My daughter ask for linds on our ices and they took out half the ice from the ices..so i took them back because i was parked right infront of the window..i asked for them to top it of because my kid didnt kno...the both girls refused and said that once removed from the window they can do nothin...like seriously..its like 2 step away from my car from the bag u put it in....rasist people and had no expression of any sort on there faces read more

I heard a lot of good things about this place so I decided to check it out two weeks ago. First, there are no samples. I've never been to an ice cream or Gelato place that doesn't give samples. Will a small spoon of your product will ruin your profits??? So without an idea of what to get, I got the root beer flavor. The root beer tasted like bitter disappointment and I had to throw it out. Second time I went was tonight and I figured, okay, I'll get a safe flavor that no place can screw up. I wanted to give this place another chance. I ordered a watermelon ice and it tasted so disgustingly artificial. It tasted like the most generic "watermelon" flavor. It was a surprise to me that a place known for selling ices (literally their only product) could have two busts. I've had the store bought ices from Bodega with the wooden spoons that tasted better than this. Blegh. read more
