I purchased Habanero Powder online from My Spice Sage a couple of weeks ago. It got here about a week ago and I opened the package and tasted it. (I grow Habanero Peppers and make my own powder from them, but this cannot be used in making things to sell from a home kitchen in my State...I know what Habanero Powder should be.) This stuff that was sent to me tastes like 1/4 Habanero Powder and 3/4 windowsill dust. It's awful! Didn't even make me sneeze to open the package! BEWARE My wife and I have been a customer of myspice for 2 years and have never had an issue until now. They have great products but if something happens to your order do not expect a resolution. We ordered coffee steak rub from them a month ago and never received it. We called many times and IF we got a hold of someone they dismissed us and said they would call back but never did. After a week of trying to get a hold of someone and getting nowhere we have given up and are no longer going to keep their products in our stores. I ordered from them online. I was looking for some good quality cinnamon for baking and for health purposes. I know there are cinnamon pills in the store. But who knows what is really in them. I rather buy it as a powder and drink it. I ordered two different types of cinnamon powders (Ceylon and Saigon Vietnamese) and Ceylon cinnamon sticks. With my order, I received black lava sea salt for free! The shipping was super fast. I ordered it Sunday night and it came today(Wedneaday). I have used it in my smoothie and it is amazing. The Saigon has more flavor and punch than the store bought stuff. I am making breakfast bars and all you smell is the cinnamon throughout my home. I'm going to put it in my breakfast drink (ADV, lemon juice and water) to give me extra health benefits. I am glad a stumbled across them! I've had My Spice Sage on my Bookmark List for a bit now and purposely planned a trip from where I work to Yonkers and see their inventory for myself. Rather than venturing to Yonkers, wanted to get a leg up and speak to a live person in advance and ask about whether or not they carry vanilla extract. Though pleasant over the phone, the woman said that they do carry Madagascar Vanilla. Great! Next, I wanted to make sure if their business hours are til 5pm. Yes. Except, the person on the other end, said that My Spice Sage is not a storefront and it's strictly an online business. That put a damper on the Vanilla that I really wanted to buy. I know online shopping saves time: it's 24/7 shopping, yada, yada, yada- I get it. But, I thrive on the visual factor and want instant gratification. I'm sure it's wonderful for many other things. DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!! I place an order back on March 20th, almost a month ago. They charged my card for $381 but never sent the order. I called and talked to a woman there who confirmed that my order was never sent, but they did charge my account and took the money. She said they would get back to me but never did and never credited my account. I have since left several messages but no one returns my calls. My Spice Sage have a website that features their spices, and through their website, you can easily order spices. I have ordered twice from them, 4/18/2015 and 5/1/2016, and I am extremely pleased with the spice quality and their customer service. The spices are packaged using airtight heavy plastic bags and mostly shipped by USPS. I paid for my orders using PayPal. My Spice Sage ships free to anywhere in the US. The price of the spices are very reasonable compared to similar establishments. Their customer service is outstanding and they answer their E-mail in a very short period of time. In mid April I made an order from this company. There were problems with their website not recognizing my email address, and it then double posted my order and double billed me. They told me they had cancelled the mistake order and that in a few days I would see a refund. It is now 3 weeks later and I have not received it. I have been leaving messages and emails and while I did get a response the first time, I am not getting any responses now. I'm sorry to be having this experience because the flour I ordered came quickly and seems to be high quality. The "free" sample that is offered of another spice did not come with the package. I've been looking all over for clear jel and mulling/apple pie spice to get to me before Thanksgiving and just happened to come across My Spice Sage on Yelp. The shipping was really fast/free (~1 day) and the spices I ordered were fresh, pungent and fragrant. They made my pie taste awesome. I fell in love with the ground Grains of Paradise! I have replaced all my pepper shakers with GoP. The spices always arrive in the most fresh state possible. Today I tried to order just a couple of spices that totaled about $8. When I went to check out, the "free shipping " that's plastered all over their site suddenly became a $3 "spice it up" charge. Why? Because orders under $10 are not free to ship. Nowhere are you told that other than when you go to check out. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE- QUESTIONABLE PRODUCT SOURCING- I used to purchase from this company regularly, and noticed that they had recently changed the country of origin on a product I frequently purchase (Agar Agar). I have emailed multiple times for the last few months to inquire about where this is now being sourced from, and am apparently just being flat out ignored by the company. This agar used to be sourced from Chile and Spain, but now just lists this as generally being from Asian origin. I am avoiding products from Japan due to Fukushima radiation contamination, and would have really appreciated an answer. Now after such a horrible customer service experience, I have begun sourcing my agar from a different company that answers my inquiries in a timely manner, and is upfront about where their product is coming from. I have ordered from My Spice Sage for several years. Their service is AMAZING!! Even with regular shipping my orders arrived sooner than expected. The spices are ALWAYS fresh and fragrant. They smell exactly as they should. I have never had a super strong spice mingle with the other spices so that the entire order smelled like the very strong spice. That has happened with MULTIPLE other online spice sellers. I know that I am getting exactly what I ordered at a fair price. I am never getting some cheaper spice or lower quality spice instead of the spice I ordered. Other sellers do that, but MySpiceSage does not. Not so happy with this outlet. Note that most of the spices are dried-- my own fault that I didn't read every word and missed that. But, more importantly, there were live bugs in my box, which really turned me off. No, they weren't in the individually wrapped plastic bags, but if there were, they would have suffocated and I might not have found them. After placing my order on Oct. 12th 2016 I had not received a shipping confirmation by Oct. 21st. I called in and while the person on the phone was very nice they could not tell me when my order would ship. Finally on Oct 24th I received a shipping notice and received the package on the 27th, a full 15 days after ordering. I ended up ordering the spices from another site so I could have the spices on time for the charity event I had to cook for.
