This review is LONG overdue, but I wanted to measure the quality of the product over time, as opposed to just initial impressions. That being said, my experience with My.Suit has been absolutely extraordinary through and through. Let me break it down: THE EXPERIENCE: I first encountered My.Suit when I was on my way to a meeting on 32nd street. I was already late when I happened across the My.Suit in Herald Square, but I was forced to a stop by the energy of the store; the bright lighting highlighted the use of white marble as the cornerstone of the building design, and fabrics were systematically displayed in ordered rows along the wall, catering to a minimalist and clean aesthetic. Littered throughout the store were mannequins dressed in, as you can imagine, finely tailored suits. But the architecture and décor is not what caught my eye... it was the severely dapper gentleman (who later became known to me as Alfred Li) who manned the door. Upon entering Alfred warmly greeted me and welcomed me to peruse throughout the store. I will to this day remember the beauty of his navy DB pinstripe suit! I even told him that I'm in the market for a new suit and I want him to make me one that looks exactly like the one he had on. Of course I did not have time then because I was already late for the meeting, but I made an appointment for a couple weeks later. Fast forward and I arrive with my girlfriend at My.Suit to a 4 hour fitting session with Alfred wherein he covers literally EVERY single detail imaginable for the suit I want made. It felt just shy of bespoke. The way My.Suit (and most M2M companies) works is that they match one of their basic template sizes to the customer, and enter about several dozen data points to create a garment that is as close to bespoke as possible. The win with this system is that if you have a style consultant that knows fashion, has an imagination, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, has the skill to manipulate these data points to create the garment the client envisions, then you will not be disappointed. If however your My.Suit style consultant lacks these traits, then you might end up with an ugly, poorly fitting suit. In the time I have spent at this specific store, Alfred was the only stylist who gave a 4 hour first fitting, and that includes the manager himself. It was absolutely necessary to iron out these details though, because once your measurements (all 40 odd of them!!!) are in the system, then you can easily order another suit in a different fabric and expect a similar fit. I cannot emphasize enough how extraordinary Alfred's service was. He has a book on his desk called "Mastering the Art of Permanent Fashion", which he has not only read, but has also digested and in turn uses to better assist each client. After reading several negative reviews about the company, I am almost certain that if everybody had dealt with Alfred, or somebody as knowledgeable and passionate as him, there would only be 5 star reviews. THE SUIT(S): The first suit I ended up ordering was a single breasted pinstripe in a deep navy flannel. I mentioned to Alfred that I'm a Cellist and just in case I want to perform in this suit, I need enough freedom in the upper body to cross my arms unhindered. 2 weeks after the 4 hour fitting, I returned to one of the most beautiful garments I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Evidence of the high quality craftsmanship was everywhere, from the pinstripes nearly lining up on the ticket pocket to the functioning buttons on the sleeve. The fit of the jacket was exactly what I was looking for: fashion forward, narrow in the waist, with a superman V blossoming out into wide shoulders. The best part was that I felt like I was wearing a sweatshirt. The pants were a bit tighter in the thighs, with a hint of a break falling on my ankle. I was impressed, because as a 6'6" gentleman, finding pants that fit is incredibly difficult. Once again, exactly what I asked for. My favorite detail of the suit as a whole is that nowhere does it visibly say "My.Suit", even inside the jacket lining. This further propagates the illusion of bespoke... a fact I quite like to flaunt to my friends This was the entry level suit at $499. The second suit I ordered through Alfred was a DB white windowpane in charcoal wool. I only altered my original fit slightly... I wanted the pants to have zero break, as summer approaches (cool ankles!) and thinking ahead to next winter, I want the full breadth of the boot to be seen. I did not think Alfred could out-do the first suit I ordered but when I picked up my suit this afternoon, I was shocked. It was stunning. Of course I must also give credit to my girlfriend for helping me with the smaller decisions like button type, piping color, lining color, and so on! This suit was the middle tier at $795. They price their suits based on the quality of the fabric you choose. IN CONCLUSION: -Order with Alfred if you want to look f*$#ing incredible! read more

I've been a loyal customer with Mysuit for atleast 10 years. I'm just dissapointed with the fact that considering my loyalty, and the amount of money I've spent collectively, that they would still charge me to ship my suits to me. Usually most businesses when you spend a certain amount they include the shipping cost as a courtesy. That's just good customer service and business practices. I also don't like that you have to pay 100% upfront and not get your suit until weeks after. A deposit should be reasonable until you receive the suit. I will not be continuing to give them my business and find a new suit company or Men's Warehouse. read more

For the amount they charge alterations shouldn't become a problem. The employees there do not bother making things better. I like to be comfortable, whether in jeans or a suit. And there begins this adventure. I needed a new suit and "My Suit" caught my attention. At the "My Suit" storefront, Charles the sales guy measured me and asked about options. I never thought a suit had so many options. I just want something to wear to an interview... or funeral. A basic blue suit, no frills. I'm just a boring customer that needs a standard suit, that fits. I tried a few jackets, All were too tight at waist and across shoulders, but my man Charles the sales guy convinced me the suit will fit after alterations. I tried on pants. Way too tight in waist and butt seam. I repeated that I like room in my suit, not too tight. They'll be altered. At this point I should have left. But I was so close. I wanted to get a freaking suit. I couldn't start again. So I let the sales guy sell me the suit. Glad he wasn't selling timeshares or I'd probably be suck with property in Love Canal too. Fast Forward to picking up the suit. And why was I surprised? Remember my concerns? You got it, Too tight. The place sends all their suits to Mexico for alterations, so it takes over a week to see results. Three times the suit was sent back to Mexico. Three times the suit was too tight. Four months later and I'm physically sick from this project. I'm out well over $500 and without a suit that fits. Without a refund. Charles the sales guy never expressed human emotion. Charles the sales guy explained being devoid of expression is being professional. Charles the sales guy said there wasn't anything else he could do, thanked me and told me to enjoy my week. What? They have over $500 of my money and I have nothing except "Have a nice week". Husky, chunky, fat guys -- Today's lesson is: Find a fat sales guy. Don't make the same very costly mistake I made-avoid trendy hipster suit shops that want 100% payment up front. No store credit. Absolute worst customer experience of my life. Charlie Johnston, the store manager to give you an idea of how the organization works, ordered the wrong tux shirt for my wedding then blamed me for inputting the order wrong. When I tried to return it, he sent a shipping label that didn't work and again blamed me for his error. He also waited 1 week to tell me he didn't have the material I'd originally ordered. This is all within weeks of my wedding. He was arrogant, rude, and had no willingness to acknowledge or try to correct his mistakes. Do not work with him. Go somewhere else. read more

If you are thinking of trying My.Suit don't if you use My.Suit and you're thinking about buying another suit, pants, or jacket think again. I've been a customer for 3 years and bought many suits, jackets, and pants of that time frame and quality has gone downhill big time. Even worse their service and customer service are horrendous. Here's what happened: I bought 3 pairs of pants in April and the rise was cut too low so they gave me a massive wedgie. I brought them back 3 times and each time they refused to acknowledge the problem and instead said the pant was too big in the butt, then too tight in the butt, and again to big in the butt. Finally after insisting that the problem is the rise (which they couldn't fix due to lack of material) and that they need to replace the pants, the manager Charlie arrogantly said that they wouldn't do that and any further changes would have to be at my cost. He said that the only thing I could do is email customer service at info@mysuit.com which I did several times and never received a response. I then posted a comment about this on their facebook page which they promptly deleted by never addressed. I now have 3 expensive pairs of pants that I could never wear. read more

This place is great - very convenient for people working in midtown and great service. Alfred has treated me very well, being very reasonable with prices and it feels like he has the customer's interest in mind at all times. On a couple of occasions, he felt that there could be improvements on the work done and recommended that they take another stab at the alterations. He has also recommended not making certain alterations that seemed unnecessary to him, so I am comfortable that he is not just going to tack on unnecessary costs for his customers. The customer service experience at MySuit has been atrocious. I went in for suit fitting on Jun 29 with a salesman. I scheduled a follow up appointment for Jul 12th. When I called MySuit to confirm my Jul 12th appointment I was informed that the suit wasn't in and that the appointment wasn't even in the system. No calls from MySuit, no emails form MySuit, no indication of any delay. I rescheduled the appointment for today at 11am. My sales representative showed up 20m late, making me late for my next appointment in the day. When I put on the suit, the quality was disappointing and the fit was not to spec. When I voiced concern to my sales representative said "it's supposed to be like that." Having worked as a fashion merchant for two years, I feel like I have a decent understanding of what fit should feel like for a custom piece of clothing. I need to have a nice suit for my wedding next month, in short I do not trust MySuit to get the job done based on my experiences thus far. I voiced this to the salesman and asked for a refund to which he responded "we do not offer refunds for any reason." I am not an activist, I just think MySuit fell short on value, quality, and service. I've since filed a chargeback with the credit card company and MySuit has been fighting tooth and nail. You'd think the company would just do a better job of providing strong customer service and standing behind their product. I've since went to another custom suit company and had a much better experience. Save yourself the headache of dealing with these people and go elsewhere. read more

I ended up pretty disappointed with my experience shopping at My.Suit NY, and I likely won't be returning. The actual suit I received is decent - a 3.5 or 4 out of 5 and in the end a pretty good value for the money (about $800), but the experience of dealing with the actual store, and specifically the salesman who helped me, was far below my expectations and means I don't foresee ever returning. First of all, you're getting a MTM (made to measure) suit, not a truly custom or bespoke suit. The final product will hopefully be better tailored to you than something off the rack, to be sure, but this isn't a magically-priced custom suit. That's fine and I knew that going in, however I was still disappointed with the experience. Here's what I expected: A salesman who was well-versed in men's fashion and suits in particular with work closely with me to identify the style of suit that I wanted. My.Suit's suits are priced by the type of suit (two piece, three piece, [vest], or just a sport coat) and the quality of the fabric. You then choose from a series of options to customize the suit - lapels, pockets, lining, buttons, etc. This is how My.Suit ends up with all the hideous suits they have on display. You don't have to choose something that gaudy. My suit, for instance, is relatively conservative and traditional. What I expected was for the salesman to take some time to ask me about what kind of suit I really wanted and why. I was hoping for some guidance in choosing things I didn't have strong feelings about - button styles, for instance. I then hoped he would carefully measure me and make sure I was comfortable with the choices I'd made and the suit I would end up getting. Mostly I was hoping for someone with a high degree of attention to detail. The final suit you get anywhere that's MTM or bespoke depends heavily on the care and attention paid to you. Here's what I got: My experience at My.Suit was with a salesman who rushed, was sloppy, and seemed more concerned with making money as quickly as possible than how happy I was with the suit or the experience. I returned to the store twice to see him after I was measured and placed my order, and neither time did he seem to have any idea who I was. It spoke to someone who didn't care very much about what he was doing. To start with, after I told him some basics about what kind of suit I wanted, he picked out three fabrics for me to choose between. At no point did he actually explain how the suits were priced. Coincidentally, he picked out three examples of the most expensive fabric. It wasn't until I specifically asked more about how they were priced and what my options were that he reluctantly helped me look through a variety of fabrics in a variety of price ranges. I ended up choosing a fabric in the middle of their range, and it felt like I had to fight for even the option. Next, the measurements. My final suit didn't fit as well as it should have, and I believe it was partly because the salesman, Sam, flew through the measurements as quickly as possible. I've had a truly custom tux made in the past, and in that case my tailor took a great deal of time and care explaining what he was measuring and how I should stand in order to get the best results. Sam barely seemed to acknowledge I was there and it made the experience rather uncomfortable. Once we moved on to the suit options, Sam again flew through things very quickly. Some choices I had already made - a notched lapel and traditional pockets, for instance - so there wasn't any need to linger. But it would have been nice to have someone who really appreciated why someone would make certain choices helping me and explaining some of the reasons I might make one choice or another. Once I was finished with my order, Sam again went through the final process as fast as he possibly could. Once again, his lack of attention to detail made an impact - he ended up misspelling both my name and email address in the system, meaning I never got any updates about my order. More annoying was when I went in a week later to ask a question and they couldn't find my order at all. The other salesmen treated me as if I were an idiot since I didn't have an email and they couldn't find my order in the system. Both of these issues were thanks to Sam's carelessness. It also meant the monogram on the suit was incorrect since he got the first letter of my last name wrong. Once I received my suit, it was clear some measurements had been taken carelessly and it needed to be altered. This took 4 days, and even then the final result isn't perfect. I'm generally happy with the suit and I will wear it. I also think it's a pretty good value for the price I paid. My.Suit though seems to be filled with very young, inexperienced salesmen who are concerned more with how many suits they can sell than making sure that every customer has a great experience. read more

ZERO customer service. you never get a call back. delivery was 5 days late, i called the guy when the suit was late; i called his manager, never heard back from one or the other. TAILOR'S CUT IS 4 OUT OF 10. it's baggy and it doesnt have that WOW factor a custom suit should have. This suit is absolutley not worth what they charge (just a little bit more than twice as much of what usually i pay). i hated the suit and they wouldnt take it back. they did a second fitting and it's still baggy. it doesnt fit right, the jacket is short, total nightmare. WORST EXPERIENCE FOR CUSTOM SUITS EVER. biggest mistake i made was to pay cash. i never saw my $ worth for this suit. i WISH i paid with my Amex, i would have cancelled that charge in two seconds flat. read more

I went to My.Suit on a recommendation from a family friend for a custom suit for my wedding. While I appreciated the options available, the pricing was very opaque and I felt pressured into paying more than I had planned once I had selected options that were presented as included. When it came to measurements, I was forced into a baggier suit than I would have liked because their measurement calculator required larger sizes - I'm not sure whether the salesperson even could have overridden the system but she kept refusing to do so. I came here to get a nice suit for my wedding and it did not disappoint. Saugat worked very closely with me to find a good fabric and then tailor the suit to all my body's intricacies. He provides suggestions and guidance, but also takes into account your style and what you're going for. The suit turned out so well I came back to get another one so I can have 2 for all the weddings I have coming up. I bought a suit here about a year ago. The rep (not going to mention his name) fitted me for my suit. I told him that I need my pants to be let out because I have a unique body. He assured me and sent my two suits to my house. Upon receipt, the suits were too tight. I followed up several times the the rep never responded. When he responded, he said that he would send some money to fix my suits via tailoring. The money never came. I followed up several times.... dead silence. Their customer service is horrific. I bought in total 4 suits and several shirts from this company.... i was a loyal customer but will not come back here again. Unfortunately, my two suits do not fit to-date. After purchasing a suit in the past and being a happy customer I decided to purchase some custom shirts. The shirts didn't come out right and after arguing with the store manager Charlie about this matter. The purchasing/refund process continues to drag out. Two months later I still don't have the shirts and still have an issue with the shirts they provided. Careful with purchasing from them since they have a no refund policy which they do not post conspicuously. Also if there is an issue with whatever clothing they do provide. Don't expect to get a refund or alteration done by any means. After purchasing multiple suits and custom clothes in my lifetime which I wear to work everyday. So far I have gotten 8 suits from this location of MySuit, including my wedding tux, a trendy sports coat, a couple of 3-piece and the rest 2-piece suits that I am very happy with. I've also referred several friends here who have gotten either wedding or business attire and were very satisfied. As a made to measure store I have been very happy with the fit of the suits I have purchased, at a very reasonable price. I loved the attention and customer service I received from their previous salesperson Alexis and always from their manager Richard. They really helped me understand what each part of the suit represented in a fashion sense, and I was able to make smart decisions about my conservative and more fashion forward suits. They were also good about recommending other fashion accessories and helped me improve my overall fashion sense and wardrobe through the many conversations I had with them. This spring, I had the experience of buying a custom suit from Black Lapel and a custom tuxedo from MySuit at the same time. Thus, I spent time at both showrooms, dealt with both sales persons, had fittings at both, and paid both prices. You can see my review of Black Lapel on their Yelp page. I walked in one evening without an appointment, not really knowing what to expect. Immediately one of the sales people walked over and began servicing me. Because I knew what I needed (black tux with an additional white dinner jacket), we began looking at fabrics. It was very nice being able to look at several black wools and learn the about the differences, especially in how they work as tuxedo material. Because he was a newer sales guy, he handed me off to a more experienced associate, Robert, for the fitting and to place the order. Robert did a great job of measuring me and going through the various options I could get on my tux. Not having a lot of knowledge of tux styles, he did a good job of directing me. He wisely recommended that order the black tux first and after we get it fit properly, then order the white dinner jacket after. We placed the order and set an initial fitting appointment 4 weeks out. The initial fitting went OK. There were a few tweaks to be made, such as the waist size, but overall the tux fit OK. After the initial alteration, I was happy with the black tuxedo and we ordered the white dinner jacket and set another appointment 4 weeks out for it. Luckily, I had enough time to do them back to back like this. When I went to pick up the white dinner jacket, it fit perfectly. However, there was a weird wrinkle in the shoulder. Robert told me would have the tailors look into it and to come back in a week. He'd also have it cleaned to remove an odd spot on the breast. Unfortunately, when I returned, it wasn't finished and Robert had forgotten to call me. A little annoying, but when I returned, everything was ready and looked great. So a minor ding in service there at the end, but overall a very pleasant experience. The only issue I had with the quality was the white dinner jacket. On the outside shoulder, you can see some of the inside white wool fabric through the outer wool layer. It doesn't look quite right to me, but Robert assured me that that is common for white wool dinner jackets. Since I don't see them everyday, I couldn't disagree, but I do know it looks off. Nevertheless, it was a great buying experience and I will purchase from them again. read more

My husband is a really fashionable guy, and he had been going to MySuit for several years now and referring all of his friends. Richard, the manager in the Herald Square location has been an amazing resource in putting together great pieces. When I came in to design a special sport coat for my husband's birthday, he did an wonderful job of walking me through all of the different materials that we can use and narrowing down our search to the perfect match. Richard is very keen on understanding his clients and their expectations. He knows what to recommend to whom and makes sure that clients are comfortable. If you are thinking of getting a tailor made, fitted, for an occation suit, I highly recommend NOT TO go to this place. They screwed the fitting of my suit which I have no time to get fixed - they just wouldn't agree with my feedback, the guy who "helped" me actually commented on my body shape instead of listening to what I am trying to convey. I felt the size of the jacket was extremely small and lose and not per my fitting however they wouldn't agree with me AT ALL and told me "We can't do anything about the length"! This past summer my wife and I were on vacation and I stopped in the store to check out what they offered. I was met by Rob Prezioso and he did an outstanding job taking getting me fit in a suit and out the door. I usually wear a 44 short, so my options are normally limited. First off let me say its all about who you work with. And with that being said, DO NOT WORK WITH JOSE REYES. I came in for my wedding (for myself and my groomsmen) and after rushing us through our fitting he was on to the next customer. When the suits came in they did not fit 5/6 of us properly. Instead of Jose working with us to fix them he kept telling us "Thats how it should fit", "That looks great" instead of listening to our concerns. I have been wearing suits for many years (I am a business man in my 40s) and prefer a slimmer fitting suit. JOSE ONLY CARES ABOUT THE SALE, HE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE SERVICE AFTERWARDS. I cannot overstate how incredible my experience was at Mysuits, and it's my top recommendation to anyone. We visited a ton of places, and Mysuits has the best selection (quality and quantity) for the best prices, the cut was perfect, and their normal turnaround time (ie not paying for rush) is the fastest: about 3 weeks for my tux. Mike Guerrieri was beyond amazing. He helped my wife and me pick the perfect outfit for the occasion (tux vs suit; fabric material, color, design; and all customizations), measured me perfectly, advised me on shoes, socks, and shirt, and was extremely responsive by email and in person to not only me but my wife as well. He made us both feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. Even though he was promoted to work in the corporate office (no surprise) shortly before we started the process there, he still went to the showroom to meet with me for my tux. The tux was ready on time, and everyone at the wedding raved about it! Definitely going back for the next time I need a made-to-measure suit. read more

I've ordered three suits from My Suit for my husband, and we've been very disappointed with the quality of the suits over time. He wears each of his suits once a week to work and takes them off immediately after coming home, so it's not like the suit is being worn very hard. After 40-50 wears, each of the suits have broken down. The seams are ripping, holes are appearing in the fabric, and the suits are generally losing their shape. My Suit does alterations when you first get the suit, but they don't offer lifetime alterations like other places we've purchased suits from do. Also, I don't really believe the suits are bespoke in the true sense of crafting fabric to fit a client's exact measurements. I think they take measurements and find the closest off-the-rack size, and then tailor from there. That's not necessarily bad, particularly in the $400-$500 price range, but the customer should know what he's getting. On the plus side, I do appreciate the ability to modify so many aspects of the suit. My husband is a lawyer, so we stick to generally conservative and traditional options, but if you wanted to go really wild and creative, there are lots of customizations available. The staff is generally friendly and willing to offer style advice. Overall, the consistently poor quality we've experienced over 3 suit purchases just isn't worth the price, and I'll be buying my husband's suits elsewhere. read more

Despite offering suits that fit pretty well at a reasonable price, I am deeply dissatisfied with two pairs of suit pants I have bought from MySuit. Within ~6 months of purchase, the backside of these pants now looks terrible, as it has inexplicably become very pilled, and now almost has the texture of a woolen sweater. As a result, the pants have become essentially unwearable. Since I bought them, I have worn the pants ~1-2 times per week to work, and for no other use. I drive to work, sit in an office chair all day, and then drive home. In other words, I haven't partaken in any activities while wearing the suit that could reasonably be expected to cause accelerated wear and tear to the material. And I certainly would expect the pants, under normal usage, to last for at least a year before becoming unwearable. Worse still has been the customer service I have received in addressing this issue. I brought the problematic pants into the Broadway location and spoke with a sales representative, who seemed to be understanding of the issue and said he would raise it with the "people upstairs". I then received a phone call that they would not replace the pants for me, because they believed there was an issue on my end with the usage of the pants. I reached out to them via email and never heard back. All told, I would not recommend buying a suit here, since even at the low prices they offer, a 6 month useful life and utter lack of customer service does not seem worth it. read more

Andre...that's the theme of this review! I've been going to MySuit for well over three years now and at this point every suit, tuxedo and sportcoat I own was made by MySuit, in particular Andre. This guy has amazing personal style which helps when picking out fabrics, liners and other options for the suit. He also understands fit, which is huge for a guy like myself, given that i'm not the slimmest guy out there but like to wear my suits well fitted / tailored. Andre re-measures me each time I come in for a new piece of clothing to ensure the measurements are still correct and I've never had to re cut or re make a suit following his measuring. I've even, recently brought my Tuxedo in for alterations since I lost a bunch of weight, Andre measured, and it came back fitting like a glove. I love MySuit and love the customization options which make the suits you buy a bit more personalized. I've sent several friends there who have all had amazing experiences. Excellent place I passed by the shop during my last visit to NYC last February to buy a custom made suite for my wedding next summer. I had a very pleasant experience here getting a custom suit. Very straightforward - pick your fabric, get measured to the tee, pick out all sorts of cool stuff like the inner lining color, sleeve button lining, under-collar color, and more.
