Elmer and his crew went above and beyond! They were able to start the project earlier than planned. Then they finished in half the time he told me originally (2.5 days instead of 5). Everything looks great! Removed old marble tile bordering my concrete steps and installed travertine tile. Also removed some marble tile from the short stucco walls, fixed the walls, and re-painted them so they look like new. Our entire home needed new floors and Elmer and his crew were the company we decided to go with. What a great decision that was! Yeah, like any big project we had a few unforeseen hiccups but Elmer was always quick to respond and kept his word with everything. Our somewhat simple project turned into a pretty big one. We ended up ripping out all the squeaky original wood floors and replacing all new plywood (not originally quoted) fortunately for me I had a few businesses quote me with prices for both complete floor replacement or just tossing new laminate over the original wood floors. Completely unreliable! I contacted Elmer several weeks ago to schedule a date to install some floor underlayment and tile in my bathroom. He responded with a text and what seemed to be a fair quote. However, the night before he was scheduled to come do the job, he texted me and said his guys took longer than expected on the project they were currently on and would have to reschedule. I didn't make an issue of it, but was upset because I already planned to take the day off. Anyhow, I simply texted back and said let's reschedule for the following week. He said, "Let's do next Friday again and I'll be there." I text him the day before to confirm they'll be there Friday, not like I have to work or anything right? Sure as shit, Friday morning comes around and his guys are a no-show...again! I try calling him but he doesn't pick up and only responds by text, "Let me check with my boys and see what time they can be done." That's the last I ever hear from him. Super unprofessional, cowardly and unreliable. It's really upsetting when you have to miss work not once, but twice and still don't have the work completed. I wish I never came across him on Yelp and would have found another tile installer. Definitely not going to be "My Tile Guy!" We recently renovated both of our bathrooms and had chosen small 2"x2" hexagon tile on our bathroom floors. We loved the tile but it turned out to be more difficult to work with than a regular-sized tile. So difficult that we'd had the floors tiled TWICE by two different licensed professionals only to have major problems (different problems after each install). I was beyond frustrated. After an extensive search for a company to perform tile work I came across my tile guy oc yelp page Spoke with the owner which was extremely professional and extremely polite and listen to what my needs were and decided to come to the job site and take a look and see what we can do. You showed up on time give me a very decent price give us some pointers of what we can do showed her some options as far as pattern goes what material we should and some other ideas. After coming to agreement to a price they performed the job to my expectations and I was very pleased with the work, and what was important was my clients were even more happier, only issue was we ran out of tile which was not their fault we were short and he did not give us any issues or problems about coming back to finish once we received the product. Needed the backsplash done in our kitchen and contacted Elmer for a quote. From the beginning quote stage I could tell he was going to be great to work with. He was quick to respond to coordinate visiting for a quote, he was on time to the appointment - all good signs! His quote was comparable to others we had received but I chose Elmer because he demonstrated responsibility up front. After we decided to go with him, we were able to schedule a date. He was easy to work with on schedules especially because it was around the holidays and I trusted he would show up on time and complete the job when he said he would. Elmer was able to tell me how much square footage of tile to buy since I was going to buy it myself, along with how much trim to purchase too. It was so easy because he would then pick it up! A few things that stood out to me about his work: - His crew was great! - They did very clean work, SO happy with how the tiles came out. Straight lines, even spacing! For reference we did a Subway tile in a brick pattern. - We had an infill needed at a window trim left from the demo existing backsplash that he helped us with too! - There was trim leftover and he left it for me (so I could return it) - They left the house and work area clean. We had one hiccup: I forgot to remind him (and he also forgot) to reinstall the outlet wall plates before leaving. I wasn't around when he finished up but when I stopped by to check it when they were wrapping up I didn't even notice because I was so happy with how the tiling turned out! However a quick text to Elmer and he said he would come back and install them for me later that week! Believe all the 1 star reviews. Elmer is unreliable, untrustworthy, and a waste of time. I gave him the job of 2 bathrooms and 2 showers that need tiling. He gave me a price and I asked him to do it for a little less. Negotiating is part of the business. If he couldn't do it for the agreed upon price, he should have said so. I asked him to sign some paperwork (contract, etc.) so we can pay him with a check on time. I chased him for a week to get 3 signatures. When I asked him to send his license number, it turns out to be his brothers license. When I asked him to send his insurance information, it didn't match his other paperwork. I wonder if his brother even knows he is using his license. Once everything was signed, he was a no show on the day he agreed to start the job. He ignored phone calls and when he decided to communicate would only reply by text. I have a deadline for the job and now Elmer has pushed it back. When I first searched for a company to install our backsplash I messaged at least 10 companies on yelp and Elmer (owner of My TIle Guys OC) got back to me within minutes, I sent him pics and measurements and he gave a quote within two hours. Many of the the other companies wouldn't give an estimate via photos. With Covid-19 I didn't want to have lot of people in the house and needed quotes via photos. Anytime we had questions Elmer was quick to respond. He helped guide us with grout color and we are SO pleased with the outcome. His crew is very experienced and they know what they are doing. As the other negative reviews have said, STAY AWAY. Most unprofessional contractor I have ever worked with with no respect for your time or business. I decided to work with Elmer on a bathroom remodel due to the work on his website and his reasonable prices and doubled confirmed a day for him to make it only to have him cancel 12 hours before. I rescheduled for a week later only to see him making an excuse that he can't make it at 6am morning of the appointment and then completely ghosting me all day - unreachable via calls or text forcing me to reschedule all the other plumbing and painting contractors that were supposed to come in after. Elmer eventually contacted me that night with a proposal for a 3rd attempted start date. I triple confirmed the date throughout the week because I needed to take off work to be present but he texted me at midnight 9 hours before the start of the job saying "...I can definitely demo tomorrow but I won't get to your shower this week I rather demo when we are closer to install...". I said that was okay and I still wanted the demo done since I took time off, but he never showed up that morning and ignored all my calls and texts that morning and has completely ignored me afterwards. Elmer has wasted multiple weeks of my time and multiple days of taking time off to wait for him and his crew to only be ghosted and ignored.
