This was my first time visiting this location. I had an appointment at 12:30 and wasn't seen by the doctor until 1:30. I understand they were busy and had people ahead of me waiting to be seen as well. My only complaint is the lack of professionalism by the employee working at the tables in the front. I could tell the manager on duty (caucasian male) was getting irritated with the young lady being on the phone while on the clock. Certain comments were made by her to her manager and as someone who works in retail/sales, I personally don't agree with that whatsoever. Overall, my rating is OK. The doctor was proficient and professional. The assortment of available frames is sufficient. The wait time was extremely long. That said, the technical quality of the laboratory was exceptional. I ordered 4 pair of glasses and all of them were done absolutely correctly. This is unusual in my experience. Fraudulent. I was charged 68$ for contact lenses fitting. I don't wear them often. and provider told me this is free sample for you to try on. I wasn't told before hand that I would be charged 68$ for it or else wouldn't have done it. Disclosing costs that you know about upfront is mandatory. It's fraudulent not to do so. The receptionist/tech was friendly and did a great job with the initial tests and I had the best experience with the eyeglass tech in picking out glasses that suited my face and needs. This is an update. My Eye Doctor's customer service department contacted me to apologize and hear my side of things. I spoke with a service rep that took the time to hear my concerns. She was genuine and really took to the time to hear where I was coming from. She expressed that the company values its customers feedback and takes them seriously. She apologized for my experience which I thoroughly appreciated. I relayed to her my apprehension to call back due to my experience at this location. I found her to be accommodating and understanding. I like the fact that Mr. Eye Doctor reached out, shows me they value their customers opinions. She agreed with my sentiments in that the actions of those employees were unacceptable. I further expressed that the doctor was great my issues were with the front office staff. While I don't know if I'll ever return to that location. I won't completely cross off Mr. Eye Doctor overall as a company because of them addressing my concerns. If I do come back it would be a long time before I do. My update is solely based on my interaction with Mr. Eye Doctor's customer service rep. I found her to be professional, understanding, helpful, genuine and accommodating. She even had my prescription emailed to me at my request, arrived two days later. My hope is that they will really address those concerns. I'm thankful for Mr. Eye Doctor's Customer Service Reps attention to this matter. read more

This is the most poorly managed medical office I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. At 9 months pregnant with a toddler in tow, they made me a quick appointment for an eye injury and I arrived at the office 20 minutes later (10 minutes early so I could fill out paperwork). After waiting for 40 minutes, I was informed that it would be an additional 25 minutes until the doctor could see me. They made up a story about an emergency patient ahead of me (it was a mother daughter duo shopping for sunglasses and prescription glasses). Could they not have told me about the time change when I arrived, waddling in, with a fussy kid? At some point that I was clearly uncomfortable and anxious, not let me know that it would be an HOUR wait? I left. And My Eye Dr has lost a decade long, loyal patient. read more

We are visiting my sister and brother in-law here in Alexandria ahead of a big trip to Europe, and I broke my glasses with just hours to figure out what to do. My sister recommended stopping at her regular Optometrist and eye glass shop, and I am so glad she did. The staff was very helpful and fixed my glasses in just a few minutes. So quick, so courteous, and so very professional. There is a MyEyeDr closer by our house than the traditional eye place we've used out of habit for decades. Really great and quick exam - the only reason why I gave 2 stars. The negative - they don't provide you with your prescription unless you explicitly ask. I assume because they want to make it more difficult to order glasses and contacts elsewhere; however, you should be entitled to your prescription as soon as the visit is over. I had to ask for mine, and the one they gave wasn't even correct. I went home to order glasses from my favorite retailer online, and that's how I found out. In the past, I've had that retailer call my previous optometrists to obtain the prescription without a problem, so I know this is not a Hippa violation. MyEyeDr claims that I have to sign a form for that to be allowed. No problem - but normally, that form is in the general paperwork you fill out. Again, making it difficult for you to order glasses and contacts elsewhere. I asked for my prescription to be emailed to me, which I was told was possible. No prescription received. I had to call back for them to tell me that they couldn't email it. Why didn't anyone notify me of these things? Because they make it difficult for you to not order your items from them, it makes it more complicated for them and for you. I won't be back there again. read more

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFO. I went here last year, and it was fine, but definitely WAY too pricey. Add to that they don't take my insurance and I have decided to move on to greener pastures (meaning far less expensive), but didn't have much to say. A solid "eh, it was fine, I guess." They called me this year to remind me that it was time for my eye exam. I ignored it, and over a 3 day period they sent me seven different emails, from different e-mails and all signed differently. I called to get off their mailing/call lists, and spoke to someone very polite who told me it was taken care of. Four months later I am still receiving robocalls, though I think I *finally* got all the e-mails blocked. I have called three times and been was told all three times that they've "greyed out my phone number and e-mail." I certainly think folks have way worse stories than mine, but I don't trust my eyes, or anything else, to a company that can't even control its own marketing department. read more

I had a great experience customer service wise (no complaints there) but the prices are unbelievably high. Had I not needed my glasses rushed to me (due to eye problems), I would have taken my prescription elsewhere. I hadn't heard of but maybe two of the brands. Previously, I had D&G (name brand) frames and they were cheaper than AFTER my 50% discount. It took me awhile to find a frame that I liked...and even now, I don't love them...but I had to get something, and price was definitely an issue for me since I would be paying out of pocket. I did receive 50% off my frames, but I still walked out paying $10 short of $400. Like I said, had I not needed my glasses ASAP, I definitely would have taken my prescription to a different place and received a cheaper frame that I not only loved, but wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. read more

The optometrist is TOP NOTCH and knowledgable. Diagnosed a problem with my eye and it's all better. They are super duper. Of course, they are expected to sell eyewear, so knew they were going to sell me new frames and new lenses. That's OK - it's their job. They found the exact frames I want and took care of the insurance. Very much looking forward to getting my new prescription glasses. Again, the optometrist is TOP NOTCH. He's simply great. Great Customer Service...High Priced Products. Desperate for glasses I walked in without an appt and they were able to take me right away. Doctor was very sweet, employees were all very kind...HOWEVER I did not find a pair of frames I liked so ended up settling with something mediocre (wish I'd waited). The designers they carry aren't what I'd consider high end, but yet the price is astronomical (paid 340.00 out of pocket, would've been close to 700.00 had it not been for my insurance coverage). My eyes have really been bothering me and they told me they'd rush the order, however a week and 2 days after I was set to receive still nothing :-( I wouldn't recommend this particular location to someone looking for something trendy, but rather to a person looking to get something quick. Optometrist was great, conscientious, caring, and very knowledgeable. Front desk staff were some of the RUDEST people I've ever met. I came in for an eye exam and they interrogated me for why I was not purchasing glasses from them. I finally just said that it is way cheaper to buy glasses from Warby Parker but they continued to bully me and try to get me to buy glasses from them. They also asked if I wanted a prescription for my contacts and said it would be over $100 for a contact lens fitting. I don't understand why I would need this since I already know what brand I like and explained that I don't remember paying that before. THEN before I left, the front desk staff had the audacity to print out my receipt from last year, highlight the thing, and show me where I had previously paid the fee. I will not be returning. I used to like this store, but since the arrival of a new manager I have had nothing but trouble. They were late for my eye appointment and rushed through it with minimal communication. They took six weeks to get the lenses made (should be two weeks), with no communication about the delay until I called them. Twice, because they didn't call me back. The progressive lenses were unusable...they messed up the measurements when they ordered the lenses. Two more weeks to make new ones. Now the distance prescription was completely wrong. Not clear whether that was the result of the rushed eye exam or the lenses were made wrong. Waited four weeks for them to try again, finally called them, and it turns out they had the glasses waiting for me for two weeks...but, again, never bothered to call me to tell me they were in. So I scheduled an appointment after hearing so many radio ads for this place. I got a really great eye exam from Aileen Nguyen, opted for the extra retinal photo which seemed like a reasonable cost and I admit it was kinda neat to see a pic of my retina. She explained what to look for, gave some useful tips for eye health and honestly seemed like a caring medical professional. Then things went down hill from there when I met with the sales staff. The sale price for frames was 2 for $99, good luck finding any frames you like in that price range. Next is every add on, which seem to double or triple the price of any frame. I picked up a set of Ray Bans, got my usual order of thin poly lenses and basic coatings. The price was just shy of $600.00 which is double the amount of any designer frames I have ever bought in my life. The ones I picked were black plastic, the most expensive frames I bought a while back had every option, bendable titanium with the thinnest lenses, done in an hour for about $350.00 When I told the tech this they adjusted some discounts, added some insurance savings, etc. Price ended up being $400 dollar range. I still felt kinda ripped off, so I ended up just saying I'll end up getting glasses elsewhere. Then she started talking like a used car dealer, talking about the advantages of the product, how she was only doing what the doctor had recommended. When I decided to just pay and go she got her manager out and reduced the cost to around $305. That was the final straw, it was like being at a used car lot. If the cost was around $300 total from the beginning I may have gotten those glasses, but why should anyone have to haggle for glasses? Even with their hidden discounts the high prices for this place are ridiculous. read more

I walked in and someone immediately helped me. I recently moved down to Alexnadria from Frederick. My dog chewed my lenses and I had called in to make a note of it in my profile to the Frederick location. I used my warranty and they quoted me a price and added to my profile so I could go to any location and they would be able to help me. However I misplaced my chewed on glasses and when I found them I walked into this location and they took care of everything for me right away! Thank goodness! Front desk has absolutely no idea what they are doing. Called to make an appointment for my son. When he got there first they said he wasn't in the system and they said they have no other appointments for that time so he left. Half way home they called back and said it was under a different name. So, you did have an appointment at that time ? Maybe if u checked his last name you would know it was him. When he was waiting they apparently told a mother over the phone that she could bring in her child, but when they arrived they said they don't take children under 6. I can only imagine she was frustrated as well. They need to train their front desk or hire people with common sense degrees. read more

I ended up going to Warby Parker, even after some pretty agressive selling techniques, (sorry guys) but I was extremely impressed with the customer service at this location. Prices seem to be on par with what I've experienced before. Sadly, I think places like this might be on their way out the door with the onslaught of online spots to purchase a quality pair of glasses, risk free. Hi Everyone! So I recently purchased a pair of super cute glasses from My Eye Dr. The sales assistant I had (Ami) was truly amazing. She was super sweet and unbelievably helpful. I had sprained my ankle earlier that day and she did everything she could to accommodate my lack of movement. The glasses are a bit on the pricier side, but in my opinion you get what you pay for. Where to start with this place..... I should have known to stay away when I saw the cleanliness of the bathroom. Despite my better instinct we stuck around and went through with a basic eye exam for my 10 year old son. Not only did they try to upsell me every step of the way but were very unpleasant in the manner which they treated my sons first visit to the optometrist. It's easy to write reviews when we have terrible experiences and it's equally easy when we have a fantastic one as well. I went to a DC MyEyeDr location and while the doctor was fantastic, the business personnel was hideous. Long story short, the guy tried to high pressure me into purchasing contacts the same day. I was toldi would be charged a higher price if I did not purchase the lenses immediately. Those tactics don't work with me so I refused to order the lenses and left. They were new and I needed to have a couple weeks to make sure they were comfortable. Fast forwarda couple of weeks and I really did like the lenses and really wanted to order them from MyEyeDr because of the customer service that comes with ordering them through this company. I contacted the Richmond Highway location and spoke with the manager about my experience at the Pennsylvania Avenue location in DC. The Virginia manager was fantastic. He honored the original price that I was quoted, not the higher price that I had been told that I would have to pay if I didn't purchase them immediately on the day of the exam in DC. And he did everything courteously and within a matter of moments. If something does not sound right, particularly female customers, walk away. If it is a chain, take your buying dollars elsewhere because you can probably find great customer service at another location. I'm really glad that this My Eye Dr location exists and I'm thankful for that manager. read more
