Dr. Madison and her staff were very efficient and kind. The highlight of my visit was Phillip who helped me choose my frames, and make sure my order was placed correctly. He was extremely kind and very knowledgeable, and even adjusted my current glasses which were purchased elsewhere a long time ago. I left with a very satisfied feeling. read more

I went in there November 29th - after speaking with someone at the front desk. Due to the new prescription that was provided was too strong, so I wanted to go back to my old prescription. Rachel (from my understanding) the Manager, helped me which took about an hr. I've been going to My Eye Dr for years now and have never dealt with customer service like this. Today is 1/13/23 so I figured I would call because she got confirmation they would be switching out my lens for my old prescription. MY GLASSES STILL ARENT READY AND WERE NEVER DONE. There is NO excuse and even more so, for a manager or anyone really. To allow that to slide when someone pays 200$+ for glasses. Not a phone call, not an email... I HAD TO CALL. I have used My Eye Dr. In several cities over the past few years. I have usually had a good experience. Our experience at this office was phenomenal! Our exam with the doctor was thorough, she was professional and personable. I needed a form a couple months after our visit and found the office staff and the doctor very responsive. The request was completed at the time of my visit. I also had a billing issue. The front desk staff member, Kim, attempted to handle at the time. She said "I will research that and get back to you." Do not waste your money. Even with insurance my glasses cost me several hundred dollars - and they are completely useless. They are tri-focal and I am unable to read with them. I have taken them back twice to fix and they are no better. I have given up using them and have been using my old glasses. They have refused refund my glasses so it was a complete waste of money. I have been wearing glasses most of my life and have a checkup once a year and my glasses replaced once a year. I have used several different companies over the years to make my glasses and this is the first time they have been completely useless. They have no idea what they are doing. read more

So first let me say...initially, I really thought I's like this business. The front desk liaison that I spoke with was very pleasant... sweet, polite and quite articulate. The staff also seemed very nice except for one... I don't know her name but she was not pleasant. I Excused her rudeness thinking, she was just having a bad day. Now fast forward to getting my glasses... I waited several months before getting my prescription glasses which was a big mistake but I did save 50% by going elsewhere for my actual glasses but the prescription was never quite right. I even had the glasses redone thinking that it was the angle of the prescription on the glasses that was wrong. I was very disappointed because the prescription is still not quite right. I will say that I felt very rushed , the doctor rushed me through the exam and did not explain anything, just click click click and I felt pressured to just answer because I felt very rushed. My bad I should have stood up for myself after all they work for us , don't they? Anyway despite my disappointment and my less than perfect prescription, I called to schedule another appointment for my next exam in January. The receptionist "the one that was having a bad day last year" took my call and was so condescending that after making my appointment I called and canceled it. I decided to look at the reviews for this office which I had not done before and I totally get one of the complaints... I felt the same way, that if I had looked differently that "not so nice" receptionist would have treated me differently. I really wanted to give this office another chance and I was going to be much more proactive in my exam but I read a lot of reviews from another eye doctor literally half a mile away and it sounds like more my speed so...that's the reason for the one star. I did call back to cancel and when I did I spoke to the very sweet, nice and articulate receptionist and she was very pleasant... I actually felt bad canceling. If I'm being completely honest, it's the "other" receptionist that answered the phone that turned me so off. I was scheduling to give this business another chance until she answered. I am so very upset with this Company!!! I have paid in full for my new glasses and waited 2 weeks to get them back which was fine. but when I did get them, I couldn't see something was off, I was told they would send them back to be fixed and it would take another 2 weeks. ok well I got them back again and they are still off I could see everything is fuzzy. Once again, they sent, them back off it be fixed and that takes another 2 weeks. OMG, I picked my glasses up today and they are still off, and I'm so upset. Based on the previous reviews I was excited about visiting this facility. I was in the market for a new optometrist. When I initially walked in, no one would give me any eye contact. I then proceeded to say hello and the lady looked up at me and ask me immediately if I had insurance and a driver license???!!! (It was not what she said, it was how she said it. ) still maintaining a positive attitude I gave her all of the required information she requested. She then proceeded to ask me where I worked, how much money I made, how long I have had insurance etc. I then realized that the questions she was asking me were not related to my examine but instead for her own person knowledge. This is my second visit to MyEyeDr and I will definitely be back. I really enjoy going there. The staff is so friendly and helpful and they have a huge selection of eyeglasses. What I really like is the doctor. He does a thorough exam of my eyes and makes me feel like he genuinely cares. Dr. Strickland and his team are great. That what I like the best: the entire team cares about every patient as a patient, not a paycheck. They also help me understand my insurance because I know I didn't. read more

I recently moved to NC and needed a new optometrist, I called around surprised that the prices for routine contact lens exams her in NC were much more than where I previously lived in IL. I don't have vision insurance so cost is important to me. The manager I spoke to over the phone quoted me a price of $95-$135 depending on type of contacts. I scheduled the appointment and when I went in that price was now $235. She said she failed to realize that I didn't have insurance covering the basic non contact exam which was an additional $100. I explained to her clearly during our initial phone conversation that I did not have insurance! She admitted it was her fault but would do nothing for me. I politely declined the appointment as I will not give my money to this poorly run office. read more

So I've been coming to my eye doctor for years. I now wear contacts have been for a while and I've gotten through my eye doctor. Well my prescription is slightly over a year old and I am out I just don't have time to go to the doctor right now. So I came in to purchase a pair with my prescription that works just fine. They refused to sell me any they say they won't give me any until I get a new prescription until I go in and see the Doctor They won't give me a pair that I am more than willing and expected to purchase the guy is kind of sending rude and I won't be back to ridiculous that I can't get a single pair of contact lenses from the place that I've been frequent for years just because they want to extort the money for a office appointment yet I was more than willing to make the office appointment I just need a pair of contacts so I can go about my business today. Let me start by saying I really like Dr. Strickland. But the staff needs to be retrained on how to check their patients out in a timely manner. They have this system that when you finish your exam you are placed at a table where you can order contacts or glasses. And even though I repeatedly told them that I didn't need anything else, that I just need someone to take my credit card so I can leave, they acted like this was an unreasonable request because I wasn't following their routine (company policy) They preceded to condescendingly tell me that they're helping other people and then called the next patient who came in after me and I had to sit there (at the same table) and wait and watch them get fitted with their new glasses. That's like seeing the doctor, but in order to check out to leave, you have to get in line behind people getting bloodwork or flu shots. So 15-20 minutes AFTER my daughters exam ENDED, I was finally acknowledged, payment was taken and I was allowed to leave. What a crazy system! There's no quick check out. The employee that stands behind the check-in desk really needs to have the ability to run a credit card so that those people that don't need glasses or contacts can pay their bill, check out and be done with it. My family has been patients of Dr. Strickland's for 5 years, even before it became MyEyeDr. Due to the complete incompetency of the front office staff with how they handled this situation, we won't be returning read more
