I have been a patient for over 15 years and my 2 daughters, always excellent service. Had an eye appointment yesterday, new people, new doctor, all were excellent in their service to me. The young lady that I dealt with on my lens prescription was very informative and gave excellent customer service. The cashier was awesome, very friendly and was chatting with us, very informative also. She checked us out and we left . We went to lunch and I went to look at my invoice and I notices it did not show my vision insurance copays. I called back to the office and spoke with a nice man, named Darrin. He got my info, looked up my account and said they did not have my insurance info in their system, he got what he needed and said he would get with the optical department. I got a call this morning, he told me everything had been entered and yes, I was due a refund and he could credit my card right then if I could give him some info. He ran the card while I was on the phone with him, told me how much everything was and this $$ was my refund back to my card. He apologized for the office's error. I just want to tell the whole office staff and to Darren , Thank You for your Prompt service of correcting this error. Ridiculously invasive request for personal information. I went to the Orange Park Eye Center to look for frames. The lady at the front desk asked me for my name and phone number to "put me on the schedule." I told her that I was just looking and did not want an appointment. She pressed me further and told me that they wanted to know who is in the building, which seemed odd. So, I gave her my name and phone number. Then, she asked for my birthday. I'm more or less flabbergasted at this point, since the business is located in Orange Park, not Beverly Hills. I told her to just put down 1/1/2020. Another staff member came out to request my birthday because they want to know who is in the building. Good grief, do they have a lot of thefts in that area? I have never had anyone ask for my personal details in order to look at eyeglasses frames. read more

The customer service only at the pick up glasses area needs improvement. I got a notification my son glasses were ready. I don't go pick them up until the following week. I arrived and they told me I've already picked them up. I stated no I couldn't have I'm the only authorized person. I looked at the signature and it wasn't mines at all. They proceeded to tell me well it's nothing we could do someone else from the family could have gotten it I stated I don't have FAMILY here it's just me. She stated I NEEDED to call my insurance and they will replace it. I said it's not my fault to do all of this it's you all. Overall I only come here for an exam and take my prescription else where. Took almost 2 hours for a simple eye exam appointment, then they proceeded to tell us that the total price for the eye exam and one set of glasses was nearly $1000. It doesn't matter if $600 or so was covered by insurance, that's robbery at its finest. I can only imagine how terrible it would be to not have insurance and be told you need to pay 800$ for glasses... read more

My family had been going to this eye center for five years. We are always pleased with the ability to get an appointment and the friendly office staff. We buy contacts from here on a regular basis and they are usually available same day or next day, which is a big perk when you realize you're running low! read more

I have been coming to see Dr. Hoffman for many years. He is an awesome doctor and a gentleman. However, this review is for one of the staff members there that goes above and beyond her general duties, Jennifer. In my opinion Jennifer is by far the most experienced person on the floor in the Park avenue office. She is very thorough and professional and goes above and beyond what most there normally do to make sure I get not only a good looking pair of glasses, but the correct prescription and best value for my money. I really enjoy the office staff. They are always so nice and helpful. Dr. Jenny is wonderful and i have been seeing her for years now. I go to the Park Ave office and I can get an appointment when I need. The only problem that I have had is the wait after i check in. I have waited for almost an hour on an occasion. We have been customers for about the last 5 or 6 years now. My son was blessed with the eyes of my ancestors, which means he will be a customer for the next 50 to 60 years plus. The staff is huge and they are always busy. Call ahead because it can take a minimum of a month until you can get an appointment sometimes. They send out reminders, paper or email to let you know it's that time of the year again to get your peepers checked out. They take a lot of different insurances so, you're probably covered. They have a large collection of frames and contacts to get you back in the world with corrected vision. The doctors there have all been awesome. Everyone is nice and very thorough. We haven't had a problem here ever. It takes about 2 weeks to get his glasses ordered, but it has gone up to 3 when we are around the holidays. A few times in the past, he broke a few frames and luckily they had some we could buy on the spot and were able to put the old lenses in on site. Saving us and his eyes. Overall, I really like it here and prefer it over the location on Blanding just because of the size of the building and staff. The only "problem" is the wait times for getting an appointment and the appointment time itself. I am usually there for a minimum of an hour or longer. read more

Been coming here for seven years and loved the prices, value and service - until this year! When my wife and I came in for our annual exam, we were here for 3-1/2 hours!! Sitting here today to pick up glasses - already has been 70 minutes (and we were waited on right away)!! I asked if they were under new ownership. Was told there was alot of new staff being trained (apparently with total disregard for my and my wife's time). As I said, been coming here for seven years but this was my last visit. read more

The whole experience was great from start to finish. The office had issues with their systems going in and out not to mention constant patients coming in and still manage to provide great service. Dr. Hoffman Sr. and his staff are absolutely amazing, kind and understanding. I had an issue with the wheelchair accessability in the restroom and addressed it with the doctor. The actual eye exam was completely fine. Staff was nice. However, they were not able to process the glasses that I had ordered. They were suppose to ship it to my address but they never did(keep in mind I paid for shipping). A whole month and a half after I was prescribed my glasses hadn't even been in the mail yet, the problem was that they were just sitting in their office for 3 weeks. Would not recommend placing an order for a prescription here. read more

I had a wrong prescription from a Dr. outside of Orange Park Eye Center, but had glasses made here because selection was so good. The prescription was wrong, and I had to get a retest and a new prescription. Jennifer agreed to remake the glasses at no cost- which I know she did not have to do - what great customer service! read more

After my daughters glasses died on Splash Mountain, she needed new glasses. We walked in, Rx in hand, and we're helped immediately. Our glasses were expected to arrive in 2-3 weeks and on day 14, we received a call that they were ready! We again, walked right in and we're helped immediately! I had an eye exam and ordered my glasses at this eye center. I told the sales person specifically I wanted line-less lenses. A few days after my visit there I received a call stating I had not plaid enough for the glasses and would need $23.97. Over a month latter I had not received my glasses. I called them and was told they were there. No one had called to say they were in! When I picked up the glasses the lenses were wrong. They were not the line-less ones. I was told my insurance would only allow for regular bi-focal lenses. When I returned home I called my insurance provider to ask about this. I was told by my provider that what the eye center told me was not true. Today spoke with someone at the eye center and was told that they would redo the lenses for an additional $60. I'm on Social security my only source of income. The mistake was the eye centers mistake. I should not be penalized for their mistake. Although the doctors there are good. I would get my glasses elsewhere. This place has lost a client and one that does a lot of talking. read more

I have been going here for 10 years and would not switch for anything. My doctor is Dr. Reed and he is awesome!! I have gone to some of the other doctors when he is not available and they are excellent too. They also have a great selection of frames. If anything goes wrong with the glasses, they are quick to resolve the problem. read more

I have been coming to Orange Park Eye Center for a few years now and have always had good service and been satisfied with the quality of products but this year I was blown away by my experience! From the time I checked in to the assistant that helped with the initial tests and Optimap (I apologize for not getting her name) was very helpful and professional and after being seated in the office and being Dr Hoffman had one patient ahead of me, I luckily was escorted by Jennifer to check out frames she was awesome she helped pick out frames showing one that would fit my face best, She was very knowledgeable of all the products, Pricing, Insurance, and was Just a pleasure to work with. This was my first time seeing Dr Hoffman but will request him from now on he is very passionate about his job and it shows he takes the time to explain things in terms that the normal person can understand and that is very important. read more

I will NOT be going back. I've been wearing contact lenses for 25 years and I've never been treated this way by a physician's office. I had my yearly exam and the doctor wanted me to try a newer brand. I agreed as long as it was covered by my insurance as I had no cash. She wrote the prescription but only for Ultra brand specifically ( I did not know she did this at the time). The staff verified with my insurance company that the contacts were covered by my insurance. I've been calling all week to order my contacts. I've gotten no return calls and I have been following up daily. Today, they tell me there is a balance from that purchase because my insurance came back ,after I picked them up, and didn't cover the contact lenses. So, they will not allow me to order more contacts until a balance is paid of $ 70.00. I spoke with the office manager Melanie and she informed me " we can't order you more contact lenses with an outstanding balance. I suggest you talk with your insurance company". I told her it's not right that I am responsible for this when I specifically said I did not want these contact lenses if my insurance company does not pay. There's a hole in their process of verification. There's a system break down somewhere and the patient's are paying for it. At the very least, if this is an issue ( I can't believe that I would be the only person having this problem) then there should be some form of tracking done by the office so that patients are made aware that the insurance company might not pay a portion. Instead, they do the initial authorization and tell you everything is approved. The office manager hung up on me when I asked for her supervisor's information. I called back and she wouldn't talk to me. If you order contact lenses at this office, check with your insurance company first with the specific brand because this office will screw you over with no remorse. Now I owe money AND I can't get my prescription or contact lenses. My advice is to only go to an eye doctor who will give you a copy of your prescription (not brand specific - I'm sure there are kickbacks to doing this) and allow you to order contact lenses from anywhere.
