The mussels were tender and served in a delicious, flavorful broth. The moussaka was rich, creamy, and clearly homemade. The grilled tsipura was incredibly fresh, cooked perfectly, and simply seasoned to let the quality of the fish shine. Busy for Monday evening. Felt like I stepped into Greece. I started with the complimentary bread, it was good. The crust was a little hard but I liked the fresh spread, I would recommend adding some olive oil, salt and pepper for more flavor. I got the traditional Greek salad. The salad was good. I love the tomatoes they tasted fresh. Though found myself wanting to add more salt and pepper for more flavor to pop. The dressing was good for dipping the bread in too. The octopus was delicious. Very fresh. Good portion. It was seared perfectly. I love how it was cut for me too, nice and tender. Not too chewy. The dill and capers were a nice touch. Seems the staff remember familiar faces, very friendly and all Greek. Altogether it was $64 which I find very pricey. The octopus was priced at $31 which wasn't bad. Had a fantastic meal here. The tomatoes on the salad were some of the most flavorful we've had in a long time, showing how the Chef is particularly adept at getting fresh real produce with full bodied ripeness. Had lunch there yesterday. Ordered two of the specials...tomato salad and Dover sole. The server never mentioned the prices. Since the highest price fish was $48, I thought ... ok. Tomato salad had no taste... tomatoes not ripe or not good. Had a few bites. Fish came... dried out and also ate a few bites. Bill came... $85 for the sole and $29 for the tomato salad. I immediately complained to Kristina our server that the fish was practically inedible and she never told me the cost, nor for the $29 tomato salad. I asked for the owner and she said he wasn't there. I wanted the fish taken off the bill. I reluctantly signed and asked when he, Gregory, would be in... she said 6pm. I called Gregory that night and told him my complaint. He screamed at me "Don't ever come back " as if that was a possibility and hung up. Horrible food, inhospitable aggressive service. Food: My friend and I shared the greek salad which was pretty tasty. We also shared the Tzatziki dip with bread and pita. It was good but kind of heavy on the garlic. My friend had the shrimp dish as her main dish I had the chicken with lemon potatoes. Mine was tasty. My friend's dish she said was rubbery. She sent it back and they brought it out again and still rubbery. And also there was not much cheese on hers like she thought there would be. To drink I had a prosecco and my friend had an aperol spritz. Service: Not sure what my friend thought but I felt a bit rushed. Food came out pretty fast I was shocked because it was also very busy. Every table was filled. Our waiter was nice but when clearing dishes it felt fast and one of the staff members dropped something on my friend or close to her. Ambiance: Well as I said it was a very crowded night. Every table filled. Gets very loud and OH MAN was it hot in there. I didn't really ever cool down only when the door would open for a quick second. I don't know if there heat is turned up all the way or what but man oh man! I also read in other reviews it was very hot for other people too. Also, tables are very close together and so, it is a bit hard to get in and out of the table especially if you are sitting in the couch side and there are other people sitting on both sides of you. Met up with friends who have extremely good taste in picking restaurants near the Met. The restaurant is so charming and was busy when we got there for an early afternoon reservation. The staff was so accommodating and did not rush us, despite being packed. We started with the taramosalata and eggplant chips. SO good! It's been so long since I have had a great taramosalata. It came with pita chips but we also asked for a second bread basket bc it was THAT good! We went family style and ordered the Greek salad, spinach pie, mussels and moussaka. The salad was very fresh and generously sprinkled with feta and beautiful cherry tomatoes. The spinach pie was delicious and the moussaka served in an individual crock was great. My favorite might have been the mussels: plump, tender and no grit in a savory sauce that was perfect for dipping even more bread in. Pricing was reasonable and service was wonderful. The only thing I regret is that we were so engrossed in conversation that I didn't take any pics. Great excuse to return! read more

Horrible service Slow, unattentive. Ordered a salad- menu listed olive oil and lemon as the dressing. It showed up with a heavy mayo dressing. What if I were allergic to eggs? I had to track down our server who shrugged her shoulders. Offered to replace it. I said no thank you- i'll spend my money on an establishment that shows concern for their patrons. Pita bread came out warm and dipped in Tzatziki was so refreshing we ate two baskets worth. I appreciate the large serving of Tzatziki. I got the Moussaka because I've been craving it for over a year and it did not disappoint. Made with potato and eggplant casserole, beef, onion, and tomato - rich and flavorful! My friend enjoyed the chicken, which was mostly juicy and tender made with rosemary and thyme. There were some bites in the chicken breast that was a wee bit dry but table olive oil or tzatziki sauce worked its magic. Both main dishes were large and filling. We came with a pretty large group of about nine people and every single one of us loved the food. All of the appetizers, shareable plates, and entrées were absolutely delicious, such good quality, full of flavor, and not heavy at all. The service was also really good and attentive, which we appreciated with a bigger group. The only downside was the drinks. I ordered a simple cucumber martini and it just wasn't good in any way. My dad had a glass of wine and felt like it was one of the worst he's ever had. Dessert was okay, nothing terrible but nothing to rave about either. Overall though, the food completely won us over. We genuinely loved everything we tried and would come back for the food alone. I don't live in New York, but I will definitely make my way back here during my next visit. read more

I stumbled upon this place after a visit to the MET. It was small and quaint inside. I took a seat at the bar. The host was and the bartender were both super friendly. There were some locals at the bar which made the experience fun as they were chatty. I started with their bread which was really good. I then ordered a fish, the Lavraki. The fish was soooo good. It was a whole fish cooked to perfection. It was a perfect white fish. I got spinach on the side a la carte and some great white wine from Greece. I wanted one of everything on the menu, it all looked good. The place is pricey but it is NYC. The bartender was super helpful with helping me choose what to eat. I would certainly return. read more

SKIMPY SHRIMPY! I wanted to try Mykonian House since I live in the neighborhood. I knew it was near The Met so tourists and overpriced. I decided to try it during Restaurant Week to see if I wanted to return for their regular menu. My husband and I came out on a Tuesday night in ice and snow and 10 degrees. The bread was toasted- so not fresh. The tomatoes in the salad were over ripe. My "ENTREE" was Shrimp Saganaki. I saw it was on their regular Appetizer menu so I expected that, along with their other smaller portions for RW. However, I was served 4 TINY SHRIMP on a large plate with tomato sauce and nothing else. It was laughable. I asked how many shrimp come in the appetizer and was told 6. SO THEY SCALE DOWN THE APPETIZER TO BE AN ENTREE FOR RESTAURANT WEEK! And btw, they don't give you the RW menu- you have to request it- they hope you don't know. Won't be returning. read more

I felt right at home here, and it was easy to relax into a very nice experience. The food is delicious. It has a perfect balance of traditional dishes but with slightly elevated flavor profiles and preparations. Our favorites were the Branzino and the Paidakia. Both were cooked perfectly and had wonderful texture/flavor profiles. The lavender ice cream dessert was so good. Normally, I'm not a fan of lavender ice cream as it can taste too perfumy. The beet salad was wonderful, well seasoned with a delicious skordalia purée. The arugula salad a bit plain...with crunchy tasteless slices of tomato. The shrimp entree was delicious, great flavors...just a very small portion with 5 small shrimps. The sea bass was fresh and only lightly seasoned with capers. We came here on a Saturday afternoon after visiting the Met museum nearby. We didn't make a reservation and there were quite a few tables available around 5pm, so we got seated right away. We had Mykonian Chips as appetizer, Seafood Orzo and Paidakia as entrées, and an orange flavor cake (forgot the exact name) as dessert. I'd highly recommend the Mykonian Chips which are thin cut zucchini and eggplant coated in a thin batter and deep fried, kinda like tempura. It's very delicious. The other dishes were also tasty. The service was good. It used to be hard to find a good restaurant within a few minutes walk from the Met. I'm glad this restaurant has opened and it's only a block away from the Met. This new place is buzzing- great to see it doing well. We had a reservation but they were full when we arrived. We waited at the bar, and had a slight frustration where we ordered 2 simple drinks then stood there for 10-15 mins but drinks didn't appear. When our table was ready they came for a new drinks order and we had to remind them a couple of times that we already ordered at the bar. Food was good, we sampled dips and the Mykonian chips, followed by Swordfish and Moussaka. The Mykonian chips were fun, basically a tower of sliced fried zucchini with a tzatziki dip- however for 2 of us it was way too much and we left the last 1/3, would be good as a sharing plate for a bigger table. Mousaka was very tasty. Swordfish had been grilled and looked ok but every bite tasted strongly burnt/ seared, quite strange as there were only a few black sear marks on it. It's buzzing and seems to be doing well, however tables are jammed together quite tightly. Crowd is on the older side. Staff were friendly and chatty. Gave them 4 stars but given the cost of most dishes this nearly only got 3 stars. read more
