Florentin has quickly become a neighborhood favorite and one of our go-to spots. In the summer, the outside opens up to a beautiful patio space on the corner (no sidewalk sheds, it's a real courtyard style outdoor dining setup) and in the winter, the interior is cozy and inviting. Food is excellent, the steak sandwich remains one of my guilty pleasures. Perfect thin cut McDonald's style fries and every single one is crispy. Have done breakfast, lunch and dinner and haven't missed yet. My wife's go-to is the schnitzel, sandwich or platter. It's also one of the few places that offers happy hour on weekends (4-6pm). It does get busy so find a reservation in advance unless you're willing to potentially wait, but either way it's worth a trip! read more

Will not be coming to this neighborhood restaurant anymore. Worst experience in food and service. We booked an outdoor table, and the host tried to sit us at an indoor one. I asked to be moved outside where we reserved and she acknowledged only after. There were 3 outside tables open outside. Our food came later than other tables when we ordered before them. They served me RAW burger patties in a SMASHBURGER. I eat my burger medium rare, so I'm used to pink, but their smash burger was completely raw. Gray edges because the raw meat oxidized and completely red and pink patties with a light sear on the outside. Not even a quarter of a cm of it was cooked. Imagine lightly seared thin skin and straight raw from there. It tasted like eating ground raw beef straight from the package, because it was. The smell and taste was disgusting im traumatized. My husband's salmon was also super dry. Server didn't even apologize and only ordered me a new burger after I asked for one. The food is good and it's a very pretty restaurant but the service needs improvement. I made an 11am weekday reservation. When we arrived the restaurant was open but no one was there. No wait staff, no hostess, nothing. Radio silence. I had to go back into the kitchen to ask a chef if someone was there. He ended up having to call the hostess. No clue where she was but it took her 10 minutes to come upstairs??? Then when she came I told her we have an 11am reservation. She was confused. Apparently they only open at 11:30?????? So why was I able to make a reservation for 11? Anyway, I had the avocado toast and it was good. For the first customers of the day they were already out of one of the desserts which didn't make any sense. I also had to ask for the check twice. Would I come back? Eight of us had dinner at Florentino on Friday evening. We were seated at an outdoor table and looked at the menus. Then Sammy, the manager came to inform us that heavy rain was expected. We were moved to a table inside. Sure enough it pelted furiously. Florentin labeled itself as a Mediterranean restaurant but only some of the appetizers were from that region. Orders of crispy artichokes, labneh with beets, frekeh, branzino was ordered. I chose the Faroe Island grilled salmon which came with green beans and caper-salsa verde. My entrée was mouthwatering. Came here for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. This is my favorite kind of menu, very balanced with veggies, shareables and mains. The Caesar was one of the best I have had in a while, creamy, cheesy and charred. All the sandwiches were accompanied with what tasted like very fresh bread. No complaints about the food or service. Enjoyed our dinner here with the Beau and friends. The inside is even cuter than we expected and we felt cozy and welcome immediately. The menu has a wide array of delicious dishes to choose from. We shared the white bean (dip?) and Caesar salad. While the white beans were more soup than dip, the dish itself is quite good. The spicy pasta was delicious and not too spicy at all. We came on a random Saturday afternoon and were seated right away without a reservation. The space is nice, with lots of natural light and high ceilings. The tables are on the smaller side, but the atmosphere is nice and cozy. It took a little while for the waiter to come over, but she was very lovely--calm, respectful, and not pushy or rushed at all. The French onion soup was great; I just wish the portion was a bit bigger (and that we had ordered it first--sorry for being greedy:-P). The tuna salad with tuna was really good, and we loved the dressing. Wine bottle prices vary, ranging from reasonable to quite expensive. We went with my daughter and her boyfriend on a Sunday night. It was not very busy. We had the msabbaha appetizer, the chicken sandwich, schnitzel, and the freekeh risotto. The service was very bad. They apparently served our order to another table, and did not notice for 30 minutes. The msabbaha was ok, but a bit bland. Great restaurant for al fresco dining. Has a ton of outdoor seating and floor to ceiling door/windows where you can catch a nice breeze. Great for a warm night. I think the restaurant says its open 5-10pm daily however went at 4pm on a Saturday and it was open. Had their spritz which was a play on an Aperol Spritz- it was very refreshing. I thought this new neighborhood spot was great! My boyfriend and I stopped in for their outdoor happy hour on a beautiful evening ($12 classic cocktails and good wine/beer deals). We got the burrata app, which was great. I got the smash burger (YUMMMM) and he got the chicken schnitzel platter, which were both delicious. The burger was seriously good, if you're looking for an elevated smash burger. Fries were a little skinny for my taste but I know many like them super crispy and thin like that. Service was just ok - we first sat on one side of the patio and had a lovely waitress, but switched to the other side for a steadier table with a very indifferent waitress. We've become frequent diners (usually for weekend brunch) here. The food is good, the service is friendly, and even though it's usually busy when we go, we haven't had a problem getting a table even when we're a large party. All have been satisfied, from the 3 year old to the 91 year old, from the omnivores to the vegans (although vegan options are pretty limited). Love the white bean msabbaha. There's been a lot of turnover in this space; this restaurant may break the spell! The restaurant is nicely done. Seems to be doing very well as there wasn't an empty seat on Thursday night! We originally planned to go for happy hour. Their happy hour is 5-7 at the bar only. $6 beers, $8 wine glasses and $12 classic cocktails, the signature cocktails are not included. When I called to ask about happy hour they said food specials are being worked on. I started with the French onion soup $12. Compared to other French onion soups I've had recently this is the most reasonably priced! It was good. Plenty of cheese! The little piece of bread in it got lost at the bottom but that didn't bother me. I had the schnitzel sandwich. There was a misunderstanding with our order though. The waitress thought I said "schnitzel plate." I actually didn't even know there was a plate since I only looked at the sandwiches knowing this was what I wanted. @thebestofthewestside featured the sandwich. Luckily they took the schnitzel plate and turned it into a sandwich ( hopefully that was what was done so there was no waste!). I was very happy with the sandwich. More flavorful. The chicken was a bit tough though. I sat near the kitchen so I observed many of the dishes coming out, so many looked good - the salmon, grilled chicken sandwich! I came here after walking by on a Saturday night for dinner. We were seated pretty quickly and we had high hopes given the reviews. The crowd does skew older, a few kinks with our ordering with the staff but overall the staff is helpful. I ordered a martini with a twist and extra dirty and it came without the twist. I didn't think it was balanced well and was difficult to finish, my husband ordered a martini with a twist and it was similarly unbalanced. We orderd the steak frites, each of us, and the beets and labneh. The beets were the best thing about the evening and set really high hopes for the steak frites, that were unfortunately not met. I would definitely order the labneh again and other appetizers, but I'm very wary of their entrees. My husband ordered medium and I ordered medium well, and both came one layer undercooked. My steak was very red and I wasn't able to finish it unfortunately. The fries were mediocre as well, overcooked and undersalted. My husband finished his steak but was not very pleased with it. It was validating to us that we looked around at the crowd and a lot of patrons had left food on their plates as well. I think over time, Florentin will find their groove and I can see it getting better, but for now, I'd say skip. read more

Came here with the family after a visit to the Museum of Nature History. Came based on good reviews here and boy was it a great choice. We got schnitzel plate, steak fries, spicy rigatoni and smash burger. Everything was great, schnitzel was crispy and aoli was very nice, fries were crispy. Steak was super tender and chimmichury was phenomenal. The star though was the smash burger, they must use a dry aged beef that they make in-house because it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Very good beef flavor, this place is really a top notch burger spot for anyone looking. We were there during happy hour (4-6) and got a slider from it because the smash burger was so good. Four of us had dinner last night. All the food was good. Steak frites was very good. Service was attentive and pleasant. Two gripes: there's no place to hang your coat so everyone is forced to drape them over chairs or, if you're sitting on a banquette, which is tight, you literally have to sit on your coat. A simple coat rack and a few hooks on the walls would help. Also, they don't give you a paper check. The server stands at your table and shows you your bill on a handheld electronic device. We had a nice meal at Florentin. We live nearby and hope this spot will last--to that end, here are a few constructive comments on our experience: First, it would be helpful to have better air circulation or AC. We sat in the back corner and at times it was hot. Second, the service was prompt, but a little immature and unprofessional. We asked our waitress about the most popular dishes and she was unable to provide a real answer; she also stacked the plates on our table when she cleared the dishes. Third, we enjoyed our mains (steak frites and spicy rigatoni) but the caesar salad left something to be desired. I would recommend serving it as a chopped salad, rather than in quartered romaine hearts, and not grilled. Finally, you should have regular Heinz ketchup. This is a non-negotiable for restaurants--Sir Kensington and the like simply don't suffice! We will be back but there is room for improvement, which we hope to see! read more
