Came here last Sunday and everything was splendid. The owner who greeted us at the front was welcoming and our server, Nicholas, was attentive and polite. The interior was also nice. But what about the food? Amazing, great. I had the shrimp and grits and they were delicious (and I usually don't like grits). My cousin and aunty's meat was tender and rich. We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened and were seated in the bar area. First off, the restaurant is beautifully decorated. It's on the small side and feels very cozy and intimate. The bartender went out of his way to find out which table would be ours so we could transition from the bar to our table without having to go to the host stand. The above and beyond service was not expected but very appreciated. Table Service: We specifically ordered our app, salad, and entree as shared items to be an app then the salad then then entree; but instead of separate courses everything came at the same time. Disappointing,; especially since we know the kitchen was capable, as the patrons next to us at the bar had a property coursed dinner. Twice the server came to the table, water pitcher in hand, empty glasses on the edge of the table ready to be filled. Our server came and went, no water was poured. Eventually got water refilled with dessert; we were the only table in the section that had to ask for water as we watched everyone else get water as their glasses were emptied. After the entree plates were cleared the server went straight to "how about that check", had to ask about desserts - should have been the other way around. Ate at Fire + Smoke tonight. You definitely need a reservation and this is an upscale restaurant. The steaks were excellent with a good seasoning, moist, and cooked to order. The steak fries are a little too salty, and left in the oil a little long, but had great flavor and were filling. It was my wife and I on one ticket and our two friends on their own ticket. Date night with my hubby, so wanted to try this newer place. Absolutely awesome! Nice dining area, but not a huge place. The service is great. The food is absolutely delicious! The North Carolina trout was perfectly seasoned and grilled. One of the best fish I've ever eaten, for real. Sides are all delicious, especially the mushrooms and mashed potatoes. During our almost 30 years' service in the military, my wife and I have dined in fine restaurants all over the U.S. and many foreign countries. I don't recall ever having a better meal. We started with the "Fire & Smoke" salad and from the first taste, we knew we were in for a great meal. Anyone who can make a salad dressing that well is going to excel at the rest of the meal. We moved on to the Prime Angus Ribeye, with Crispy Brussels Sprouts and the Rustic Mashed Potatoes. The ribeye was cooked perfectly (Medium-Rare), the Sprouts were a very pleasant surprise, and the Mashed Potatoes will be a must have every time we visit. Service, Drinks, and Desserts were all that you would expect and, for now, this will be our "Go-To" restaurant for special occasions. read more

A great first-time experience. The front of the restaurant is misleading because of its small strip shopping center location. However, upon entering, it reveals itself as a dark, warm, tasteful, classy, and romantic space. Their wine list is extensive, although not much by the glass is offered. The Wednesday special made ordering a bottle a much better deal, though. We had the Justin Cabernet sauvignon. The menu is very well-rounded with plenty to offer; of course, steak is their specialty, so that's what we ordered. The filet mignon is only offered at eight oz., and the menu prices are very high, so we split our meal. Our server provided outstanding and attentive service throughout. He readily accommodated our split meal by having the salad prepared on two different plates and providing us with an additional plate to split the main course (without having to ask). We had the Fire+Smoke salad, the 8oz filet (medium), and a side of rustic mashed potatoes and crispy brussel sprouts. Their specialty salad was perfect. The steak was amazing. Every last bite was delicious. And the sides were a perfect compliment to the meal. Overall, it's a notable place for a great meal but also very expensive. read more

This restaurant is fabulous! Walked in for the first time tonight and we were not disappointed. We had reservations for the evening and we were seated promptly. Mandy was our server and could not have been more accommodating. She explained the drink menu (custom drinks specifically made for this restaurant) and the wine list. She was very helpful with suggested pairings. We ordered the scallops appetizer and they were perfect. My wife ordered the short rib entree and I ordered the filet w/asparagus and a baked potato. Everything was cooked to perfection. We followed up with the homemade fruit pies with vanilla ice cream. Again, excellent. I finished the meal with some pressed fresh coffee. Rich and flavorful. Two had the fillets, one the strip, and another the Cottage Pie. The "garnish" on the steak entrees was sufficient enough to serve as a salad on it's own. All entrees were excellent, as was the side of brussel sprouts. There was no rush to get us in/out, and the interior was very nice, clean, but a bit chilly. The prices were a bit steep - a bit too much I thought ($105 for a fillet?), but everything was excellent. Our first time to Fire & Smoke for our anniversary last night. Our server, Mary, was absolutely wonderful!! The food was delicious. We started with the homemade bread, which was to die for. There are spreads that pair perfectly with each bread. The fire and smoke salad was amazing!! Our entrees were sea bass and American Wagyu, the filet was like butter. My wife and I were excited to try a new place when we came in on Friday. The server was nice but clearly had no training whatsoever. She knew nothing about the menu or how anything was served. My wife asked how the trout was prepared and her answer was "with all the components ". This isn't a big deal for me. It's more a failure of management than her fault. We both ordered the flank steak and when I took a bite I got the distinct flavor of spoiled meat. I thought maybe it was the chimichuri sauce. So I tried a bite without and it was definitely the meat. At the same time I saw her make a weird face and she said this tastes spoiled. At that point I knew it wasn't in my head. We sent both meals back. I would have still been willing to give this place another chance if a manager or someone would have made any effort at all to make it right. Instead we paid $70 for a couple drinks and 2 sides and left hungry. This place won't last a year being managed this way. Seems like a huge waste of money to open a restaurant only to forget that customer service is what will keep it open. read more

Last night we went to Fire and Smoke. What a wonderful evening. The central fireplace was a classy touch adding to the ambiance. We began with the most beautifully presented salads, mine the Caesar, my wife's the heirloom tomato and my parents, who joined us for the evening each had the cranberry salad. Each were full of color, flavor and goodness. The assorted breads were light and tasty with a lovely array of spreads to accompany them. Then came the main entrees... My wife and I each had the American Wagyu Ribeye and my parents had the braised short rib and the Rack of Lamb. We tried the mushrooms, potatoes, Mac and cheese, Brussels and greens. All were a hit. The steaks incredibly tender and had a great flavor. The lamb was grilled and left so that pure lamb flavor shone through and it was delicious. Of course, we had to sample the desserts and our choices were the creme brûlée cheesecake, flourless chocolate torte and the cranberry banana bread. Each were delicious as we all tried bites of each one. All in all, as mentioned above, a wonderful evening made extra special by some pretty spectacular food and service... special shoutout to Hannah who took excellent care of us and had the best personality of any waitress we have had in a very long time. This should not be listed as a fine dining restaurant. Hostess dressed as a slob one of the waitresses looked like she just rolled out of bed. The food ranges from not good to marginal and outrageously priced. We typically go to Connors and wanted to try something new. Mistake! This was our Anniversary dinner, mentioned in reservation as well as confirmation, response "we've got you at our most secluded table". They tried sitting us in the middle of a 6 split table, the least secluded aside from sitting in the bar. Lucky us, we sat at the table closest to the kitchen. We waited about 15 minutes to be greeted by our waitress and another 15 for drinks while the restaurant was les than 30% filled. We would happily pay $425 all in for an outstanding meal and experience, this left us unfulfilled with upset stomachs. Expensive does not equate to fine dining. I highly recommend not trying this place. read more

Fire + smoke is reopening this week! We had dinner there last night and it was spectacular. The ambiance is chic and elegant. Every food item was truly delicious. Starting with the bread basket, it had three different types of bread and each of them tasted fresh and had a homemade taste to it. The filet and pork chop were cooked to order. I tried the Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes, both so delicious. The mashed potatoes were creamy and I could taste the spices and herbs. The owners are absolutely amazing! They are very caring and passionate about the restaurant. Super nice and personable. They recommended to try the French press coffee. It is roasted in house in a smoker that gives it a unique smokey taste. If you like coffee you'll love this one. Must must try the flourless chocolate tarte!! That's my go to dessert at many restaurants but this one exceeded expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the raspberry taste in the tarte itself. If I could leave zero stars I could. I left a cash tip but upon checking my credit card statement, it far exceeded what my balance was when we paid. I called and they told me that I checked the 20% box for tip and they had a receipt with my signature so there was nothing they would do. I said someone must have done that after I left. She said no one here would do that. Guess what, they did. Everyone with me knows that I left a cash tip. Also, the food was terrible. Steak was still rare, no steak knives were given to us, my swordfish was like cardboard, and they served a $55 filet on a salad plate. We will never go back. read more
