    Cuteness overload!

We drove from Woodhaven Lakes campground to explore the town of Princeton and had a recommendation to stop in here for a real treat. I am so happy we did. The proprietor aka the baker was friendly and informative and truly loves what he does. He gave me some hints for making a gluten free pie crust which I appreciated. The decor inside is kitschy cute and the variety of pies is impressive. He even has whole pies to "Take n Bake" in many flavors including gluten free. We decided to sit down at the communal style tables inside and enjoy a slice of pie and they were served on delightful mismatched china plates. I ordered a lavender lemonade to wash down the delicious lemon meringue slice which was HUGE! Can you tell I love lemon? My husband enjoyed his slice of banana cream pie too and took a key lime slice home along with cinnamon rolls for himself and our neighbors. Myrtle's is only open Friday-Sunday. Be sure to call ahead and place an order if you are looking for a specific flavor of pie. There was also a nice selection of cinnamon rolls (also huge), cookies, banana bread and pie slices to go. This is truly my favorite bakery and I've been to many. Be sure to stop in and treat yourself. Life's too short to not have dessert first.

Given the holiday season, I needed a few pies to bring over to family members houses. While I was late to place a Christmas order, I was told first come, first serve morning of. So I set the alarm for 7am and headed over. 15 minutes later, I went with 2 pies which were an Apple and a French Silk Pie. So it's refreshing to taste an apple pie that is not added with preservatives. Loved it but for sure the winner amongst the family was the Chocolate French Silk pie. Wow was it fresh and amazing!!!! It was a hit and I anticipate heading back in the future. However they get one less star since no wore wore masks in the store. Seriously? Plenty of street parking is available.

My family and I heard about this place from an online source, so we'd figure we'd come out and try it. Once we did, I was blown away. This tiny, almost hole-in-the-wall place serves easily the best pie I've ever had. I had a chocolate cake batter pie with salted caramel and brownie in the bottom. It was almost beyond words how delicious it was. The man running it was also very polite, going so far as to help a different customer find another restaurant. If you need to satisfy your sweet tooth, look no further.

This place deserves 10 stars! There's not one bad pie here and I have too many favorites to suggest. Super clean business, friendly people-especially owner, a HUGE menu with traditional and unique pies and outstanding quality with ingredients used. The homemade crust is do flakey and rich it's just like the pie your grandma use to make!

So worth the stop! The selection of pies is vast. I had the lavender blueberry overload, I think that means huge! My mom had the key lime overload. Both were so good. We also shared a chicken salad croissant, which was delish! I noticed they had quiche and some really unique flavors. We went with the portables mushroom, carrot, squash and feta frozen quiche to take home. I will be back to try more. Reasonable prices, friendly staff and great food.

We had been told if we were ever in Princeton to try the pie at Myrtles so we decided to take a little roadtrip to try it and boy it did not disappoint. Myrtles Cafe and Pies is a quaint little place with a homey vibe. We tried 4 different types of pie a 3 different types of tea. The pie pieces were large and very good. They have a very large assortment of homemade pies they said they make fresh daily and change out often. We asked if they made pies to order and was handed a very extensive list and told just give them an advance notice of what was wanted.

I gotta stay away before I fatten up like a prized heifer. Seriously the best pie I've ever had by a long shot. Between this place and the awesome bar across the street I'll have to invest in a new, much larger wardrobe.

The guy who took care of us so down to earth and laid back funny and very helpful.. The pies, omg amazing and you get nice size piece and the taste of it is amazing.. I will definitely be back, the crust is so good and homemade..

The cutest little pie shop in a small little town, definitely worth the drive from Starved Rock as they have the best pies hands down

Pies, pies and more pies, like no other. Melt in your mouth! The crust is the best. Better than grandmas.
