Medano Hotel and Spa really surprised us. The walkability factor was fantastic, breakfast was included, the room was large and clean, there were several hotel amenities, and the service was excellent. We have been visiting Cabo San Lucas for decades and always stay at all inclusive resorts on the beach at various price points. Since this was a quick 4 night getaway, we wanted to stay somewhere affordable and centrally located, so we selected the Medano. INITIAL ARRIVAL: Upon arrival, the appearance of the hotel surrounded by a large outdoor patio/atrium was very nice. The lobby was clean and smelled good. Since we arrived well before checkin time, our room wasn't ready. They held our bags so we could began to explore. But, before the exploration began, we were approached by the friendly bell guy who also pushes discounted and free excursions in exchange for attending a vacation club opportunity, also known as a timeshare presentation. This type of approach is not uncommon at many resorts including five star properties we have stayed at in the past. However, it is still annoying. It should be noted I have nothing against vacation clubs/timeshares. ROOM: Once our room was ready, we returned to the front desk and officially checked in, which was fast and easy. The bell guy returned and escorted us to the room. As indicated, he was friendly and showed us around the room. The room included a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The room was big for the price, clean, well-decorated, and the balcony was perfect. All of the rooms have a balcony that have views of the hills and city lights. In addition, the room was well-maintained. I did not notice significant wear and tear and everything worked properly. Housekeeping staff did an excellent job each day. BREAKFAST AND BAR: Breakfast was included in our booking, and it was excellent. Breakfast is served at the onsite restaurant/bar called KAMA. KAMA's setting is open air and surrounded by other restaurants on the perimeter of the property. The breakfast includes several options from the KAMA menu. Our breakfast server, MARCOS, was excellent and kept our coffees full. At night, we visited for margaritas. One of the bartenders, SAMANTHA, made one of the best margaritas we have ever had. She was very friendly and professional. AMENITIES/GYM/SPA/POOL: Amenities included on-site washer and dryer for free, (you just need to buy pods in the hotel lobby), a pool table, air hockey, and foosball. They also have a small putting green and pickle ball courts. Medano also contracts with a nearby gym and spa, which are connected to the hotel via a catwalk. We toured both facilities, and they looked pretty good. The pool was spotless, plenty of lounge chairs, and three day beds. We never had any issue with getting a place to sit. They also have a small bar during daytime pool hours. LOCATION: As indicated earlier, we were looking for a nice hotel centrally located. The location was perfect. It was an 9 minute walk to the beach and all of the popular beach clubs, 15 minute walk to the marina, and 15-20 minutes to some of our favorite restaurants. However, there are several restaurants on-site and within a few minutes walk. There is also an OXXO located right outside the property line. We were very happy with the location and not being locked into an all-inclusive or resort that required transportation everywhere this time. CONSIDERATIONS: The only issue, which for us wasn't that big of a deal, is that there is a fire station located a couple blocks away. You can see the station and fire trucks from the balcony. There were a few times when the fire trucks took off, we could obviously hear them. Some of the drivers were cool and activated the siren when they drove a few blocks away. Again, it was not constant but something to know. In addition, there is a near-empty bar across the street that thumps music a couple nights a week but shuts down at 11:00 p.m. CONCLUSION: We really enjoyed everything about the Medano city hotel experience and look forward to staying there again. read more

I liked this hotel. I'm not a fan of the huge resorts because they get a bit busy & loud & you are kind of stuck with eating options on site if you don't want to use a taxi. I prefer smaller hotels like this. I was able to get a paid shared shuttle easily to the hotel. The rooms were simple yet modern. The shampoos & conditioners were basic, so I advise bringing your own. However, what really impressed me was the options within walking distance. There were shops, convenience stores, banks, and a massage place...all of which to me less than 5 min to walk to. There's also a cute little restaurant at the hotel that had really reasonable prices, good food, live music, & a fabulous free breakfast that came with our room. The hotel also has a nice pool area, with a bar & kids activities, like mini golf, jenga, connect4, and other games. The hotel staff were also super nice. I would definitely stay here again. Safe, convenient, fair pricing, and close to the marina. Great hotel! read more

AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO CATCH BED BUGS! I stayed at this hotel with someone for 3 nights and caught bed bugs. After we left, we realized we got bit all over. I called the hotel to warn them to check the room we stayed in to thoroughly clean and sanitize the room for bed bug infestation, but they kept putting me on hold, hanging up on me, the manager refusing to call me back or picking up and not responding (see the image where I attempted to call them TEN times to warn them about this, so other and future guests do not have to face the horror that we are dealing with). As of 5:04pm EST on Friday, May 3, 2024, I made Medano Hotel and Spa aware of them having a bed bug infestation issue in one of their hotel rooms, but they refuse to acknowledge or do anything about it. Please save yourself from a major headache, hassle and health issue by avoiding this hotel at all costs unless you want to bring home bed bugs with you. The bed bugs there will eat you alive for breakfast, lunch and dinner because they're hunnnnnngry as evidenced by the bites all over our bodies! Additionally, this hotel is stingy. They give you cheap and meager bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash, expecting it to be sufficient for two people. It wasn't even enough for one person....the quality of the wash products was appalling and further damaged my hair. If you do end up staying here for whatever reason, bring your own shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hair mask because you'll need it. Also, they don't sweep, mop or wash the floors. It's disgusting. The only positive here is that it's conveniently located in downtown San Luca, close to all the major attractions and clubs. read more

The price, the room, the location, the food... VERY GOOD! My only complaint is 2 things... my first day there I had breakfast and our waiter took our order and never brought the drink. I asked him for our drinks and never brought them nor utensils. Where do I see him, by the bar on his phone... No Mames!! I had to flag another waiter that wasn't our waiter to let him know we needed utensils and our OJ. Then our waiter decides to pass by and ask if everything was ok.. at this point I'm thinking.. HE REALLY FORGOT WHAT I ASKED FOR! The second thing that bothered me the most was upon arriving from a night out I realized we needed clean towels. I asked the front desk if i can have some towels, he replies with, I'll send them to your room. About an hour pass an no towels. I call front desk and ask for my towels that were suppose to be sent. Lets just say the next morning passed by and I NEVER GOT MY DAMN TOWELS. But thanks to the cleaning lady for bringing me towels the following day after we came back. read more

Great location! I'd say that's the biggest benefit of the hotel, we walked to almost all of our lunches, dinners and evening activities. There were a few good taco places within 8 blocks walking distance, there was a bar we visited twice with a rooftop (Cocks Cantina), a really great fancier restaurant (Sur beach house), and then the beach, all within 20 minutes walk. Front desk staff was very friendly, check-in was easy (we had booked on hotels.com), rooms were clean and pretty updated. We had a nice balcony/deck, that when the sliding glass doors were open, yes as the other reviews said was loud, but it was also fun. You're in Cabo! Open your doors and dance to the street music outside your door! The free breakfast was decent, I think there were some communication issues, the first day my Chilaquiles didn't come with eggs on them, but the stuffed French toast the next day, and then the Chilaquiles with the eggs on the third day were all pretty good! If you're heading back to the US, there's a mobile COVID testing site 1 block away that was $30 and sent us back our results in 1 hour. read more

My stay here with my cousin went AMAZING! The staff greet you everyday whether you're coming in from a day out in the sun at the beach down from the hotel to greeting you when you go out to the clubs that are a few blocks down up. Matías the concierge and his team were very welcoming assuring we were taken care of. They have restaurants right outside plus free breakbeat when we had made reservations. The pool is super nice not too cold and the sun warms it up. There's a bar right by the pool , drinks were very affordable and very good! The front desk attendant, Erubey was very kind when checking out early in the morning. Definitely recommend this hotel if you want to be right by médano beach, and in the middle of the dock and the nightlife. read more

Like other reviews reviews I agree that the price and free parking is the best thing about this hotel. The staff are nice but definitely be ready to fend off the time share pitch for their other/sister property. This place is perfect if like us you are just using it to lay your head at the end of the day. It does not have the amenities that many other places have but if you don't need them then it is a great place. They do have room service that from what I can tell is done by a restaurant Nextdoor. I would only suggest using it if you are desperate and hungry. We used the pool one day and it was not busy and very chilly since it is not heated, I really wish they had a hot tub! One nice amenity was they offer free laundry which was a very nice surprise! read more

This hotel is in prime location. A 5 minute walk from the beach and top trendy restaurants on the beach like The Office and Mango Deck. It's a 10 minute cab drive to downtown where all the clubs and bars are located. Staff is friendly! Ask to be on the 2nd floor, your balcony will be on the pool. Only Downside is that there's only wifi at the pool & lobby but if you have a room on the second floor you can get wifi in the corner. Breakfast: the free breakfast is amazing. You can get food at the buffet or order from the kitchen. There's an Oxxo (like 7-11) located outside of the hotel. They don't sell hard alcohol but the serve beer. There's a liquor store on the walk towards the beach. Pool: it's pretty, quiet and more for families. It never closes which is an upside. Medano Hotel is affiliated with Cabo Villas Resort so you can get day pass to use their pool or beach chairs which is in a great location. The rooms are nice and clean with comfortable beds. We just stayed one night. Loud as heck with ambulance and fire trucks all night along with a band playing loudly in the atrium so close it really sounds like it's in your room. We stayed at this hotel for a week and loved how close it was to the center (~15 min walk). It was also only a 10 minute walk to Medano Beach! The free breakfast was pretty good too; large portions and comes with free orange juice and coffee. Only feedback about this was the service was kind of slow. There were a couple times where it took the servers a long time just to give us menus. Besides that, the rooms were spacious and had a great view of the city. Yes, there is music playing around 10am til 10 pm but it's a fun time! Also, the restaurant downstairs across from the hotel had pretty good food as well and happy hour every day from 3-6 pm. Drink specials such as 2 for 1 margaritas on Mondays! Oh, and live music or entertainment every night too. About a block away, there is St Lukes Hospital that does COVID testing for $40USD and we got the results within 20 minutes. read more

They can definitely improve on their customer service. After declining to participate in a sales pitch to tour their sister resort (Cachet), the Medano staff stopped greeting me and gave me the cold shoulder. It appears that everything was focused around going on a 90 minute tour. Day one, I was approached on three separate occasions in the lobby then someone called my room the second day asking why I was refusing . I made it very clear that I was there to relax; therefore, I did not want to engage in a sales pitch for hours. Well, this didn't sit well with them so they ignored me for the next four days. No hello, no how is your stay, no goodbye; just silence! I wouldn't recommend staying at Medano if you're not interested in touring other properties and listening to a two hour sales pitch on buying a vacation membership. That's correct, a vacation membership not a timeshare. The membership starting price was $40k then reduced to $4k (after you say NO a few times).... but here's the catch, you pay the membership fee on top of the nightly room fee between $108 - $180 per night! Ironically, Hotels.com and other companies offer this hotel for $93 - $100 per night without an additional membership fee! So why would I buy a membership? They then try to sell you on the ability to travel worldwide using your membership. Well, I met a member who told me that they have never been able to travel worldwide with the membership. They said they have tried for a couple of years but they are always told that the other hotels are booked; therefore, they can only travel to Cabo. Long story short, I didn't meet one person who said "I'm so glad that I went on that tour." Save your money, use the discount sites like Hotels.com and Expedia, you'll get a better deal! read more

I had an incredible stay here for my birthday week back in February 2020. The service was impeccable from check in to the poolside bartenders. Everyone I came across was friendly and helpful. My room was just as pictured and very clean. Bed was comfy. The pool side beds are sooo comfy and relaxing. Drinking by the pool at the hotel was one of the highlights of my trip, great drinks and even better service and conversation. I'll definitely book Médano again next time I'm in Cabo! read more

My family and I just got back from a little vacation to Cabo and we stayed at Medano hotel and I have nothing but great things to say about our stay. Every request and favor we asked for, Matt Espinosa delivered immediately. He is literally a sweetheart and I would recommend any and everyone to come and visit him at Medano. He had a margarita waiting for us as we checked into our room. Beautiful hotel and room set-up, beautiful view near the beach and all kinds of restaurants as well as a few minutes away from the flea market, which I highly recommend for those wanting to buy a little something for friends/family back home. This place was a good value for what we paid, much much less than the resorts and less than nearby inns. We wanted to explore a lot so we wanted a place where we could walk everywhere and Medano's location cannot be beat. 10 min walk to downtown, less than 10 min and you're sunbathing on the beach. Taxis can add up quickly if you're at a private resort (about $20 ea way). The actual accommodations were good enough. Clean though the very low water pressure & lack of a hairdryer made showering a pain. There are huge mini fridges in each room and safes upon request. The most annoying thing about our stay was avoiding the timeshare presentations, which was a common pitch in Cabo. If you're willing to forego the free basic breakfast that comes with the room(you have to pick up tickets every day from the timeshare lady), you can avoid this altogether. The free breakfast was fine but I'd recommend just getting pastries somewhere else or saving your appetite for a great lunch. I'd echo what others say about noise. Weekend music (e.g. bad, confident karaoke-ers in the courtyard) was cringeworthy. Bring earplugs and a sense of humor. Despite some annoyances, we'd still stay here again for the value and location. read more

Our room was entered after we told the housekeeping to stay out. After returning we found money and medicine missing. Everything was wonderful during my stay at the Medano Hotel. The price I paid for it (booked within one week prior to the trip) was actually pretty good and within my budget. The room was really nice too, I had a nice view of the pool. Oh and the pool is beautiful, wish I had more time to dip in there. Very friendly and helpful staff! My only two complaints are 1. the very slow WiFi speeds (which were most of the times non-existent). I was willing to pay for WiFi if it was faster and more reliable since I have internet-related work to do. 2. The DJ/loud music on Thursday and Friday nights were really annoying and unnecessary. There weren't even anyone out there. I think it was just a spring break ordeal. I would still recommend this place a lot for the price and location. Love this hotel. We stayed here for 8 days on our first trip to Cabo. The staff works around the clock and I never saw anyone of them not having a smile on their face. Excellent customer service. They are so kind about the pool. At our last night we were swimming around 10 o'clock and they were kind enough to let us stay for 15/20 min longer than when they actually close. The only annoying thing was the breakfast tickets in the morning. The person that gives you the ticket is from another resort called Cachet. They are always trying to sell you timeshare. Be aware of lady named Terasita. She is a bit over the top and would call our room and harass us to go to her meeting for time share. We finally gave in, just so she stops. Check in was fine then it was all down hill from there. One front desk attendant always got my attention by calling me "lady", I did not catch her name. Our room was on the 5th floor on the far side of the hotel however there is only 1 elevator so we had to take the stairs most of the time. We had a huge surfboard bag and several other bags yet no one offered to help us with our bags so I got my workout in that day.Carlos who seems to work at the pool bar everyday hates his job and it shows. He is constantly flustered and rushing around with a bad attitude. They advertise 2 for 1 drinks from 8am to 1pm at the captains quarters so I tried to order a margarita with breakfast but it never came. Later in the day everytime I tried to order a margarita they had to go to the back for some odd reason and always tried to convince me to get something else. I finally just said I could do tequila with lime juice and club soda and they said that doesn't count as a margarita (less ingredients so higher profit margin but ok you do you Carlos). The first breakfast I ate was chorizo chilaquiles and it was pretty good however the next day I ordered an omelet with sausage and it came out with chopped up hotdog. When we went to checkout there was no help with the bags again and the guy at the front desk could not answer any questions regarding the final bill. I even just asked if the $100 deposit was refunded and he said "I don't know". Overall the hotel is ok, not much of a view but the local is pretty central to madano beach and an easy walk to squid row. Final thoughts are this is a budget hotel so it is on the cheaper side but along with cheaper stays comes cheaper service. read more

Everyone was welcoming and friendly, helpful in finding us a mixture of places for dining out and experiences. They were available 24/7 to help get us settled in. For what this hotel is (read: not an all inclusive super resort on the beach) it absolutely deserves five stars. My husband is a pilot and we fly standby. Because of this we use an app that books hotels cheaply on the same day, and we got the Medano for around $100/night. The hotel is medium-sized, in the heart of the just-off-the-cusp tourist area, which translates to being surrounded by convenient mini markets, taco joints, and a short walking distance to the beach (5 min) and to the boozy bars (7 mins). The front desk staff, Irving and Miryam, are very accommodating, and gave us two beds since I had a bad cough. The rooms are wonderful! All of the basic amenities, and some even better upgrades. They are really modern and classy, shower is tiled (and fits two if you want ;) ), fixtures are modern, and each room has an air conditioner with an air pump/fan feature that'll drown out most of the thumping from the Cabo Clubs. The pool is NOT crowded, and the pool chairs are some of the most comfy and ergonomic chairs I've ever had at a resort. Towels are placed on chairs every day. They give you coupons for complimentary breakfast, and make sure to get the Chilequiles Con Huevos, SUPERB! My only qualm is a very touristy one: no bar at the pool. But they allow you to use their sister super-resort, The Cabo Villas (5 min walk), which has all of the amenities too, and it's on the beach. However, we just bought some tequila and got real with it at The Medano. It's truly a wonderful little joint if you're a relaxed type that likes more privacy. Loved it. read more

This hotel made my trip to Cabo so much better than I anticipated. I was kind of worried about how I was going to find my way around and where I'd find activities to do but Alexa the concierge made it soooo easy! She went out of her way to help my friend and I book the funnest activities with the best deals. Not to mention the bar right outside of the hotel (Mint Jungle and Amber's Market) Rene and Ivan the bartenders were so welcoming and so much fun! We reserved a room about a week in advance directly through the hotel. Got a confirmation number. Then when we showed up to check in, we were told that they're they're overbooked and don't have a room for us. Sorry. But they did print out a page from Booking.com and advised us to stay at one of those hotels nearby! Awesome! (sarcasm). Unbelievable. What's the point of making a reservation ahead of time DIRECTLY with the hotel, so that you can be told they don't have a room for you when you show up?? We didn't have a phone that works in Mexico and no internet to even look for another hotel. We just drove to one nearby and booked with them as a last minute emergency. The moral of the story is to NOT book with this hotel, unless you want to risk showing up and not having a place to stay (even though you DID make a reservation in advance). I think what happened is that they were able to book our room for someone else for a higher price/ longer stay so they just screwed us in favor of another guest. We travel a lot and this has never happened before. Pretty shocking. You have been warned. read more

Fairly new hotel, just opened 9 months ago. I must say, the hotel in itself is beautiful, the rooms are clean and very modern looking. Very spacious room and balcony. It's also very affordable and close to the beach, it's about a 5 min walk. Also, about 3 blocks from the mall and Marina! I will say there are a few cons. 1) we put the do not disturb on the door and it "somehow" came off twice and the maid cleaned the room both times. I didn't like that. And also, on the weekends they have bars right under he hotel and the music is superrr loud which makes it hard to sleep. The valet guy outside the hotel was very friendly and helpful! He knew all he ins and outs of where to go and what to eat! But overall, I would recommend this hotel! read more

PROS: Excellent Service, WhatsApp actually works & staff is very responsive to every request, every guest need. Very efficient floor plan, especially the 1 Bedroom Suite. Everything needed for kitchen, 2 closets with tons of drawer space. Large balconies with HAMMOCKS, very cool! Free laundry, good quality machines. Lap pool & pool bar with speakers, kids playground. Bright rooms, lots of windows with lots of good interior lighting. Great food & room service, responsive to every need, went above & beyond to meet my every need. CONS: Noisy, lots of road noise, sirens & loud trucks & motorcycles, free parking. Cheap mattresses, cheap Hisense TV's with grainy picture, terrible shower heads (they should invest in VERY inexpensive rain shower heads), only 1 elevator for the entire 2 wing building, only 1 ice machine, which is poorly located. Would have given it 5 Starts had the furnishings been higher end. read more
