First off, I wanted to disclose I am Chinese, born and raised in New York City. I have eaten Chinese food all my life, from home cooked food, to small hole in the wall restaurants, to fancier Chinese restaurants. All Chinese restaurants usually are Chinese operated and owned. I dont know if MOGU is Chinese owned, but from my observations it doesnt appear to be Chinese operated. I have never set foot at any locations and this was my first experience at MOGU at the Mineola location. I chose this location because my daughter had a performance and I knew we would be hungry, this looked new, big, and from all the pictures/menu the food looked pretty good. I didn't have any expectations. The food was surprisingly good. I wouldnt say its so amazing that you have to go out of your way in coming here. But if you were in the area, it's definitely worth a try. The lo mein noodles, sesame chicken, and scallion pancakes were the items that were our favorite. read more

We ordered the family meal (1 chicken dish - sesame chicken, 1 dumpling - fried, 1 veg - broccoli w/ garlic sauce and 1 fried rice with added shrimp - you can choose noodles as well) - which was a great value. We also tried the steak with Brussels sprouts (clear winner for my husband), scallion pancake (kids favorite), wonton poppers (my toddler loved these) and the noodle dish with added shrimp protein. I appreciated that there was plenty of protein in each of these dishes, but thought that the sauces were just too sweet. As a chinese person, this food was terrible. Too much salt in everything. The mini wontons were dry and stale. The mei fun just tasted like an over-use of salt. The fried rice wasnt fully cooked and was hard. The only thing giving them an extra star is the affordableness. read more

Fast food Chinese that was average at best. I had read a really nice story about MOGU and was anxious to try out, but was pretty disappointed by the food. We were in the mood for Chinese takeout today, but the food is really changing nowadays...We wanted to try someplace different so I did a simple search and MOGU came up with very good ratings...I ordered the chicken and broccoli with sesame chicken (no sesame seeds) and vegetable egg rolls. Everything was delish! The vegetable egg rolls were a little soggy, but that is expected because we did takeout, took about twenty minutes for delivery. They made my order exactly how I wanted it and the food was very tasty! Will definitely order again or go there physically for the ultimate experience. I knew this place from the time the owners made a presentation to the Village Officials. It's taken a little bit of time to finally get Mogu open to the public. Let me start by saying that it is exactly as the owners presented it to the community. The restaurant is bright and airy with plenty of seating. While we were there we could see the busy take out business that they already have. The staff is extremely delightful-helpful and assisted us through our ordering. This is not your regular take out place. I do have a picture of the menu so you can see their nice selection of food. My wife and I came for lunch and ordered enough food to share and sample. They air-fry here so the food is tasty and not greasy. - Classic Egg Roll - tasty - crunchy - not greasy - Brown rice - tasty and fresh - Air Fried pork dumplings - crisp - tasty - plenty of filling - Chicken and broccoli - tasty white meat chicken with cut up pieces of broccoli. The manager at Mogu in Mineola needs to learn customer appreciation and how to keep customers. She is rude and very condescending. We ordered 3 meals, 2 standard and 1 with extra steak. When we got home, each meal was the same size and there was no extra steak that we paid additionally for. We then called to say they charged us more by mistake and never gave the extra steak. His combined amount of meat equaled the 2 others. She (the manager) then proceeded to tell us we were wrong and they don't make mistakes. Instead she should have made good and say it would be made up in the next visit. We go there frequently, but no more. I recommend finding another Mogu and avoiding her. read more

We stopped in for dinner one night and ordered the emperor tso chicken, steak with brussels sprouts and some popcorn wontons. The wontons were mostly dough, so we wouldn't order them again and the two plates of food were extremely salty for our liking. Not sure that we'll be back. read more

Yuk. Very bland chinese food, even though I ordered it extra extra spicy. The chicken and broccoli did come with a good amount of chicken, but the sauce was pretty tasteless. Same for the "unfried" fried rice. Very blah with no flavor. The popcorn dumplings had practically nothing inside them; they were just balls of dough. Clean healthy version of Chinese food. When I saw this space opened up near by I just had to try it out. We ordered on a kiosk. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The kiosk allows you to check off dietary restrictions so the staff helped us make custom meals that we could enjoy when she noticed the items we ordered had ingredients we couldn't have. Grand opening today, Wednesday 8.22. I'm not yet hungry but I ordered an entrée. I ordered a chicken with mixed veggies with the garlic sauce spicy, brown rice. It was good I liked it, but the portion was small. I normally don't eat rice when I get Chinese but this time I ate rice to feel satisfied. I won't forget to order an eggroll next time. The place of course was nice and clean, there were people dining inside. They have regular tables and a few high tables as well. I ordered using their app and it was ready when I got there. I am happy this place is finally open specially because it's very close to me.! So happy this finally opened! Was so excited to come in. Very friendly staff. Helpful too since I've never been to any mogu locations. Not a huge menu but what they have sounds delicious and looks delicious in the giant pictures they have decorating the restaurant. Nice and bright. I like the colors and the design. I ordered the pork steamed dumplings and they're delicious! Filled with meat and came with a light sauce on the side that compliments it well. I also ordered the hi mien noodles with tofu. I decided to try Mogu this evening since it's a new place in the neighborhood. I ordered the Spareribs (5 ribs for $12.95) and the Sweet Fire Wings (6 for $10.95) for dinner. I was going to get an order of fried rice, but the bill would have been just under $40 for 2 apps and a main. The food there is high for the amount of food you get. The wings were OK. They use 5 spice flavors on them and then a heavy dose of Gen. Tso sauce. They were plump and slightly spicy, but they weren't crispy... even if there wasn't any sauce on them. The ribs were OK as well. They were Juicy and very tender but with too much hoisin sauce and not enough flavor in the ribs. I suspect the ribs are boiled (not necessarily a bad thing for tender ribs) and then put under a broiler to crisp up. I'll probably go back and try other things on their menu, but I'll stick to my fave Chinese restaurants for the apps. read more

Average at most. The orange chicken tastes way too tangy and the food never tastes fresh. It also takes a while for the food to come out even when it's empty in there but then your food doesn't even taste fresh. As he welcomed me in, he graciously opened the door to reveal a spotless dining room adorned with bright and colorful LED panels showcasing various menu options. To my right, two kiosks patiently waited to serve a customer. Before I even reached the counter, I was for the second time greeted with a wave and a warm smile. The young man at the counter gave an explanation of the brand that was remarkably consistent with my observations thus far-- a FRESH, MODERN, take on traditional Chinese-American cuisine. With how refined the experience was, I assumed MoGu was a west coast chain that had just reached Long Island. I was shocked to hear that they were founded here in Farmingdale just five years ago! My order was ready inside of ten minutes, and the food did not disappoint. As advertised, it was a fresher, lighter take on the traditional. The "Hi" mein and build-your-own I ordered were both delicious and came with a generous portion for the price. Even in my short time there, it was evident that all of their team truly cared about the customer experience-- an exceptionally rare feat in customer service. So I'll start off with this place being fairly new. The air fried dumplings were okay, but the flavor of the sauce was too vinegary. The not so fried rice was good and had a great texture as flavor. I got the steak with garlic sauce and the fresh veggies. It was flavorful and the veggies were very fresh and had had a nice crunch to it.
