The infamous Ramen of Long Island. Apparently it's highly raved every where so I had to check it out. I don't know why but i have been craving Acai bowls and Ramen all summer! As soon as you walk in there is a special greeting they say in their language and the entire staff join in. I felt so special! It was so nice to see as every customer came in and they received the special greeting! The decor inside was incredible, I caught myself pointing out each one. I ordered the fried chicken and Pork bun as an appetizer. I then ordered the most popular Ramen, Youta Tonkotsu Ramen. I normally get chicken but this one was Pork broth. I was not a huge fan of the chicken, felt like it could have been cooked a bit more. The pork bun was incredibly delicious! The customer next to us also agreed lol now to my Ramen. I love loved it! Been here before for ramen but it's been hot so decided to try a broth less dish. We were a group of 5 so shared a few apps. And since we were there before 7, we got to order half price beers, perfect in the hot weather. Even though it was hot outside the inside was nicely air conditioned. The only thing is they do not take reservations, but you can sign onto the waitlist which they only hold for 10 minutes after they confirm a table and all members of your party must be in attendance for the table to be secured. So we decided to give this place a try again and see what the hype was about. Hubby and I came on a Saturday at 2pm. Anytime earlier there's a waiting line. This place is a bit tight. Ordered takeout tonight and while presentation and packaging was on point, the food is much better eaten in store. I think this rings true for most if not all food. With that said, flavor was still okay. My kids enjoyed the gyudon and curry katsu. The ramen was fine but not super flavorful - plus one for not being soggy or too soft! I've been wanting to try Youta Ramen for a long time as I saw all the great reviews over the years. I think this is the highest rated ramen place I've seen on Long Island so far, but I'm always a bit skeptical even when a place gets universal acclaim. I came to try this place out on a weekend evening recently. It was cool to see that this place has a seemingly authentic ramen shop aesthetic to it from the outside. Place was packed out for dinner time but I was able to grab a spot thankfully as a solo diner. Inside, the decor was pretty lively, cozy, and well lit. Atmosphere is probably catered toward a younger crowd that appreciates Japanese culture and I liked it. The servers had their hands full with the dinner crowd but seemed pretty warm and attentive. I decided to order the gyoza ($12) and black garlic tonkatsu ramen ($18). The black garlic tonkatsu ramen seemed like one of the most popular choices so seemed like a safe choice. I paid about $37 total with tax and tip included. I received my food and have to say that their presentation was on point. The gyoza had the crispy skirt thing going on very well. The black garlic tonkatsu ramen also looked beautiful, with appetizing pieces of chashu laid out nicely and nice glow / color on the yolk of the half egg. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food itself for the price I paid. The gyoza wasn't bad but the filling wasn't very substantial and it ultimately tasted similar to some potstickers from Costco or something. There wasn't any strong meaty flavor to the gyoza and they were so tiny. I can't believe this place charges $12 for six of those tiny gyoza's; thinking about it kind of makes my blood boil. The ramen had good flavor overall; I liked the broth cause it seemed fairly rich but not overly so. Went down pretty smooth. The chasu pieces also tasted really good. The noodles were pretty good; don't think anything stood out about it too much but it was solid. Though the ramen was good, it didn't seem mind blowing to me and it was a very small portion for $18. Ultimately, I'm glad I got to try Youta Ramen but I think the place is overhyped and overpriced based on my experience. I will give it points for its cool aesthetic and friendly customer service but there are probably better ramen spots on Long Island that deliver a better quality to price ratio. read more

Few weeks ago, I took my parents to Youta for Lunch. I gave the second chance to see any improvement based on service and their attitude. I went to this place for few years, but the service is going down to hell. This year January freezing cold, me and my friend went to lunch. servant put us to counter table next to the door with heavy coat and gifts, even thought there were at least 4 tables available. This time I visited Yutaka Ramen with my parents and ordered the fried smelt, but I was served fries instead. When I politely pointed out the mistake, the server insisted that I had ordered fries and made it seem like it was my fault. Eventually, she said in an arrogant tone that she would give me the fries for free, but she later took the fries away from my table, and no one apologized for the mistake. What disappointed me the most was not the wrong order, but the attitude. Mistakes happen, but blaming the customer, refusing to acknowledge the error, and failing to offer a simple apology is unacceptable. My parents witnessed the whole interaction, and it was embarrassing and frustrating. Poor customer service and lack of professionalism. read more

This is the best ramen spot I have been to so far. Food was great and the right portions. For appetizers. We had the youta dumplings which was very tasty. I had the Udon noodles which were good. I don't think I would order it again because the sauce was a little sweet for my taste. The spicy ramen was perfection from the noodles to the amount of spice. We also had the pork curry katsu. It was good but I wish it had some vegetables added. For desserts, they offer a mango or matcha parfait. We chose the mango and it is now my favorite dessert. Because I been pretty disappointed about the quality of most of the ramen served in Nassau & Suffolk county. Because the soup tends to be artificial and the noodles aren't that good. The second you walk into this place the staff is really warm and friendly and they greet you in Japanese, one of the signs you can tell that it's a really good ramen shop, is that it was full of Asian people. We ordered the dumplings, and each got ramen. The dumplings had this crispy skin on the bottom and it was so good. It tasted very fresh and made with lots of love. The menu says the broth is simmered for 16 hours and it really shows the broth is very rich, smooth and full of so much flavor. The soup was like a nice warm hug. The noodles had a good chew to them, and they give you a very generous portion of noodles and meat! They gave us 3 very large pieces of braised pork. The soft boiled marinated egg, green onions, and bamboo shoots. I love the way they slice the green onion so thin, they complement perfectly with the soup. My favorite is probably the ika geso. Both the assorted mushroom and aburi salmon salads are good. I got the black garlic tonkotsu ramen and I enjoyed it. I'm normally a wavy noodles guy but the straight noodles here are really good. We capped off the meal with the two parfaits. My nephews and nieces love the mango but I lean towards the matcha. Heard so much about this place and finally made a trip to visit. There's a small parking lot along with street parking and one bathroom. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. There's so much attention to detail here from the artwork on the menu, strips of manga hanging on the walls, to fast service. The mentaiko pasta was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly and had a savory spicy cod roe sauce (slight heat at the end but not unbearably spicy). The fish roe and nori created the ultimate savory oceany bite. You have to order it. As for ramen we ordered the Black Garlic Tonkotsu and the Youta Tonkotsu. Definitely make sure you mix the tare/oils well in the black garlic tonkotsu. Both ramens were delicious but the real stars of the shows are their toppings. Their cha shu was incredible. It was so tender and soft, makes me wonder if they sous vide their pork because it fell apart. Their ajitama/soy egg was nice and jammy and not powdery at all. The bamboo shoots in the Youta Ramen was chef kiss. They had a nice snap and it's nothing like the bamboo shoots you get from a can with no weird taste. Overall, we've definitely had better ramen with better noodles but we got won over by the toppings. We would love to come back and try their shoyu truffle ramen. With my son's wish to return coupled with my own desire to see what the hype is all about, we dined at Youta Ramen a few nights ago. The atmosphere is lively and the space limited, but after waiting for a table to become free, we were seated. We ordered the Shishito Truffle Salt (shishito pepper with truffle salt) and Ika Gesu (fried calamari) appetizers. The peppers were tasty and my husband and son enjoyed the calamari. (I'm gluten-free so I'm generally limited to a few things in a ramen shop). I had the Sake Don which consisted of perfect thinly-sliced raw salmon and a very fragrant rice marinated in vinegar (it comes with salmon roe but that part is not gluten-free and I gave to my son to enjoy). Even without the soy, I enjoyed all of the flavors (note: it might be helpful to have a gluten-free soy for those needing it here, but the fish and rice were so flavorful that I almost didn't notice not having soy to dip with). My husband had the Shoyu Truffle Ramen, which consisted of a variety of tasty mushrooms, broth, noodles and scallions. He loved it. My son also enjoyed his Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, a bowl with pork, bamboo shoots, scallions (he had with no egg) in, as he described it, an 'exceptionally tasty' broth and noodles. How would I describe the taste compared to one of my other favorites (MB Ramen)? Youta has a "cleaner" taste--if that makes sense. MB offers a bolder, in-your-face flavor, while Youta's is flavorful but more subtle, but totally work. They also use thinner noodles than the typical ramen thickness, which adds to the distinctiveness. We ordered the Tori Karaage, Youta Tonkotsu Ramen, Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, and Mentaiko Pasta. Each dish was solid. The karaage had a great seasoning--crispy, juicy, and perfectly matched with their garlic mayo. The regular Youta ramen had that "clean" broth I mentioned, while the black garlic version brought a nice garlicky flavor without being overpowering. The Mentaiko pasta was a pleasant surprise. Wow! There's finally a ramen place near me that lives up to my expectations. No need to go all the way out to Manhattan for Ichiran. This place is in Long Island on Old Country Road near Roosevelt Field Mall and there's plenty of residential parking on the block. The lot directly behind it looks like it's for the strip of businesses. As per reviews, reservations are highly recommended due to long wait times. I came on a Thursday to celebrate Father's Day early with my family and I made a reservation on Yelp for 4 people. We arrived 10 minutes late due to traffic from work, but it was crowded! And our table was already set up with menus. The ambiance of this place is perfect - very cutesy and homey. The waiters also greet you upon stepping into the restaurant. Upon seating, we were served a glass of water as we looked at the menus (a big official menu, a special menu, and a drink menu). We started with some appetizers such as the kanpachi carpaccio and the tori karaage. The kanpachi was very fresh and deliciously paired in a Yuzu based soy sauce I believe. The karaage was perfectly battered and fried. Not too thick or thin and it came with a spicy mayo dip. There were 6 pieces in each appetizer. As for the main course, we ordered 2 black garlic tonkatsu ramen, 1 regular Youta tonkatsu ramen and 1 unagidon. The unagidon was good with a lot of eel pieces served on top of a thin layer of egg and then a rice layer. The Youta tonkatsu ramen was very flavorful and good. The ramen was thin without being soggy. The black garlic ramen was even stronger in flavor but more so of the black garlic flavor than the tonkatsu flavor. I love them both equally as much! I also ordered the shiso highball which looked like a basil cucumber refresher in the pictures but was actually a slightly carbonated alcohol drink with this melony jello flavor. It was pretty good and I would love to try the other drinks next time. As for dessert, we ordered a mango and a matcha parfait. It comes in a tall skinny glass which is perfect for pictures but not eating! Then, they provide us with a bowl to pour them out so we can mix and eat them. Both comes with gelatin jello, cheesecake layer, and flower cookie. However, the matcha one has matcha icecream and a layer of red bean and the mango one has vanilla icecream, mangoes, and mango syrup. I think I prefer the mango one more but honestly I'm not a huge fan of the cheesecake layer and I would like the gelatin to be a bit more softer. I read about Youta in a local Press and been craving it since. Drove all the way from Suffolk county to Mineola just for this! I was mega disappointed. I picked up. It was lunch time. I ordered rice dishes. One with Pork, the other with Katsu chicken. The chicken was salty, the pork was salt-less. There was hardly any sauce over the chicken dishes so it seemed like I was eating plain white rice and salted fried chicken with a sprinkle of greens. I didn't like it. I am giving 3 stars because my friend was fine with it but he eats anything. I think Youta lovers should try Slurp Ramen in Port Jefferson then come back to give your analysis between both.
