So I have never been here. Why am I review it then you ask? Because I am going to have my hair done there at 1pm. And when I went to look for reviews about N-V-Us looks I had to add the business. Hence why I am writing a pre-review. So far it looks really cute and their receptionist (or whoever answered the phone) seemed very nice and was helpful. Lets hope my hair turns out well. And I'm going to admit that this review is kind of bias because it turns out that the girl who styled my hair went to high school with me. Ashley AND she did a great job cause my hair looked great all night. N-V-Us has been there for 18 years and it has a very homey feel to it. Kind of like you are in Texas and alot the ppl who work there have "big hair". I really like this place because they made me just feel at ease and there is a nice little sitting area when you first come in and some times there are home made cookies to snack on. Yum. Oh and they are not a full salon. That's the only down side. They do everything but nails. read more

I've been coming to this salon for Holly as long as I can remember. She has cut my entire family's hair for several years, and has colored my mom's hair and mine all those years as well. I highly recommend Holly. Not only is she an amazing hair stylist, but she's a talented colorist and has met my crazy and not-so-crazy hair color requests with a can-do attitude. She's only at the shop on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays! The ladies at NV-Us are so welcoming and Katy tirelessly takes care of each customer to make sure people are comfortable and happy. WEDDING DAY HAIR: I don't like to give bad reviews but I feel something must be said. On the day of my wedding, June 23, my mom got her hair done here. The stylist (whom I don't wish to name) was 45 MINUTES late... yes, 45 MINUTES!! This incident backed up my entire wedding day! And the stylist wasn't even apologetic. On top of that my mom didn't like her hair and one of my bridesmaids had to redo it. Still, my mom tipped her because she's a good person. To be fair, the same stylist did my moms hair a few years back for my brothers wedding and everything went great. But this was my wedding day and I was not pleased. read more

My first visit to N V Us Looks (a couple years ago) cured me of my fear of having my hair cut. I've never gone anywhere else since!! I'd had one bad experience after another at other salons I'd tried. Then Katy at N V Us Looks cut my hair....and "bad hair days" became a thing of the past. Even growing out, my hair is easy to handle and grows out nicely because of the excellent job she does. The salon is bright and cheery and always buzzing with conversation and activity. Ashley put highlites in my hair that look amazing.....AND tinsel streamers which are super FUN!! I ALWAYS love the way I look when I leave. My first visit to N-V-Us Looks has changed my life !! I had heard that Katy did great color. I had an appointment with her last Friday and believe me..... She does a lot more than just great color !!!! I went from dry, no style gray hair to beautiful shiny red hair. ( at Katy's suggestion ). What a difference !!! She also does permanent make-up .... So I finally have great eyebrows , eyeliner and color on my lips. She even helped me with my wrinkles.!!! She is a very special hairdresser with a lot of talent. I'm so confused about all the great reviews. I walked in 15 minutes before my appointment, nobody ever made eye contact with me, said hi, smiled, nothing! I sat there until 15 minutes after my schduled appointment time then got up and walked out. They were so rude and I felt so uncomfortable. Never again will I go there. read more

Over all, this place was great! Someone here said it has a homey kind of feel, and it does- looks as though it was definitely a house at one point. Very unique, and I found it charming, despite the high-heel shaped chairs in the waiting area. (These have always been referred to as 'porn chairs' in my circle, so sitting on them doesn't seem comfortable, so it's great that there's a big comfy leather couch and a few other chairs to choose from.) The setting: I was part of a bridal party who probably didn't book far enough in advance for professional courtesy. (Maybe a month?) Even so, it wasn't as if we just showed up and asked to be seen same day. The positive - The women who work here are FANTASTIC. Just about everyone was happy and chatty as they worked on our Vintage (think pin-up) up-dos. (1 bride, 4 maids, 2 moms- regular up-dos, not vintage). The whole night, all we heard was about how fantastic we looked and how amazing our hair was. (It really was!) For the most part, they were able to copy from the photos we provided, and with a little direction here and there, the results were fabulous. The negative - As you would imagine, they rotated us through hair and makeup simultaneously. Things got behind schedule throughout the morning, and they ended up finishing something like an hour and a half later than we were supposed to be done. We actually ended up having to do photos after the ceremony, which wasn't part of the general plan, and that pushed dinner back, etc etc. I know with big groups, things can get backed up, but on multiple occasions, there were stylists and assistants standing around who could've been assisting to get things back on track. The main stylist who was working on us, actually stopped to assist a customer/friend who wasn't even involved with the bridal party, and spent a while removing this friend's extensions while bridal party members waited to have our hair finished. (note- I do not know if this person had an appointment, but she had expressed she was in no rush, so it felt like it could wait.) We were also delayed due to them having to start over on a bridesmaid with thick, waist-length hair- I don't know all the details, but in order to manipulate it, I guess they used a type of product that ended up looking waxy and gross. So they had to wash and wait for her hair to dry to start over. (I'm not sure why they put her under a dryer instead of actually blow-drying it, but I'm not the stylist here, lol.) Basically, the friendly, family-feel of the place backfired here- and it felt unprofessional. I think someone else posted about inconsistent pricing, and I will say- I have no clue how they price their services. Each bridesmaid checked out individually, and we all varied. The makeup was consistent, so the variance must have come from hair. I went with 3 stars here because their work, though time-consuming, WAS great, at least for me. I have been looking for somewhere local I can go to have my hair cut, and I will definitely be calling and asking them about pricing and making an appointment to visit again. MAKEUP REVIEW: ** (Two stars) The makeup artist was adorable, she was sweet and friendly, and her work was very well received by guests at the wedding. That said, we had one issue with a pink spot on the bride's dress because of the red lip stain that seemed to soak into our lips and continue seeping out all over everything- teeth, sandwiches, drinks, hands, face- it got -around-. I will say, this red lip stain belonged to one of the Maids of Honor, however, the NV US makeup artist applied a gloss over it, which apparently caused it to never set. I've used a lip stain before, and NEVER had these results. Price, as in everything bridal, was high. $45, and an additional $10 for lashes, When she started working on me, she asked if I minded if she tweezed my eyebrows, and I obliged, admittedly, I don't do anything with them normally. I found out later, when I was paying- that the tweezing ran me another $5. Now, like lots of ladies, I have some upper lip fuzz that I'm not proud of, but luckily I'm fair-skinned, light haired, so it's usually not too much of an issue. How she applied the makeup though,did not work. (I normally don't wear anything on my skin, just eyes, occasionally lips). Imagine my shock when I look at a photo that was just taken, and I now have a mustache. Once we got to the wedding venue, there was a lot of touching up, some removing, and some complete reapplying. Again, everyone at the wedding said we looked amazing, and I think we did as well, but I know a few of the girls were incredibly unhappy with their makeup application. read more

N V Us Looks is a wonderful salon and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a new salon. First of all, my hair looks wonderful every time I go there. I have very very curly hair and they are able to straighten it so well that it looks as smooth as silk. Secondly, I love the atmosphere of this place. Everyone is so nice! Plus they have a little waiting room with a t.v. and usually homemade cookies and other yummy snacks! I don't have any complaints and I know that if you go you will keep coming back! read more

I have never figured out why this salon receives "The Best" awards - they must have a big family! I tried them twice and had a bad experience both times. The last time I was left with wet hair in the middle of winter for over an hour while the stylist cut 5 or 6 people ahead of me... talk about running late. I almost left and wished I had after I got that terrible hair cut. The stylist/owner was distracted and rushed. An overall bad experience! read more
