I have bought pieces for years from Na Hoku at Tysons, but I am never going back. I was treated poorly by the store manager and by the district manager. The sales associates work on commission, and they fight constantly to make sales. That makes for an unpleasant shopping experience as I like to shop with one or two persons who are actually nice and more knowledgeable. Repairs of any kind take at least 8 weeks, it is NEVER their fault that a piece was not manufactured well, and it broke, and they charge customers to repair their faulty merchandise. The manager treats repeat customers very poorly and smirky; she accuses customers that they have done something wrong with the broken jewelry and that is why it fell apart. If you want to be treated well and with respect, go somewhere else to shop for your jewelry. They do not stand behind their products and never repair them properly. I finally had to send an Effy ring I purchased from Na Hoku to Effy in New York, and they made me another one because it was defective from manufacture. I've purchased Na Hoku pieces for decades but never expected to be treated the way I was treated last month. I brought in a pair of earrings I'd owned tor about 7 months and worn three times. The post had broken on one of them and needed to be resoldered. We no longer had the receipt but I was told over the phone it would be no problem. I was then met w/ suspicion and the cold shoulder once I entered the store. No friendly greeting, no apologies that this had happened to a piece I'd owned a very short time, just apathy (and snobbery). I was told they'd send it back to headquarters and that they'd determine if it was a manufacturer issue (it was) or if I would owe $25 for the pair. I was charged, and again met w/ coldness once I went to pick them up. My business will now transfer to Maui Divers and other retailers that have pride in their product and respect for their customers. On an interesting note, not one of the four women in the store was wearing Na Hoku pieces, clearly no appreciation for the business they work for or the culture. read more

My husband and I got our wedding rings here. Unique, pretty jewelry at reasonable prices. This is a Hawaiian jewelry store ("Hawaii's finest since 1924") and a lot of their items carry an island flavor (sandal, palm tree, Tahitian pearl.) You can find more classic pieces here as well. The salespeople are not the most knowledgeable, so I would suggest finding what you like on the website before heading to the concrete hell that is Tyson's. read more

My husband bought me a pair of very pretty, crystal blue earrings from Na Hoku. However, I noticed immediately that the backs were extremely poor - too narrow for the post and kept popping off. Within 10 wearings I'd lost one back (thankfully not the earring itself), so I went in to ask for a replacement back. They were going to charge me $25 for replacement backs! These earrings were about $75 and the backs were super crappy so I was obviously wasn't going to pay that, and I couldn't believe they were charging me at all. So now I never wear the earrings for fear of losing them. Waste of money. read more

Original Post: I will NOT purchase another diamond piece from the Na Hoku line in the future. What appeared to be a quality diamond ring, was quite cheap after I had it a few months. I loved the jewelry in the store, and I had purchased Koa wood pieces from Na Hoku in the past. For Christmas, I decided that it was time I purchase a blue diamond ring, and I thought of no place other than Na Hoku because the pieces were stunning. I purchased a cocktail blue diamond ring with white diamond halo and small diamonds scaling the side of the ring. I received the ring about 8 weeks later because they had to specially make the ring in my size. I received the ring near the end of February. It was beautiful, but approx. 4 months after I received the ring a diamond on the halo was missing. I was shocked because it was new and I had not worn it out often. I went back to the store and they stated that they would send it off to be repaired, but because it was outside the 90 day time-frame I would be charged if it appeared the ring was damaged by their repair facility. As I suspected they would come back and tell me, the ring was "damaged" by me and it would cost $30 to repair. The manager was courteous and only charged me $15 for the repair because it was new. Due to the travel and work, I was unable to go out to the store to pick up the ring after it was returned a few weeks later. I saw the ring and it appeared fine when I inspected it, however, this was to the naked eye. I wore it out the store that day and was happy to have my ring back. Two days later, I notice ANOTHER diamond was missing now on the band. I own several pieces of diamond jewelry and I have never had problems with "diamonds falling out" of my pieces that are several years old. The quality of the craftmanship for their diamond pieces is severely lacking, and I am sure they will feed me another line on how it must have been "my fault it was damaged." Na Hoku is already over-priced and they do not provide discounts at their store, but I thought I was buying a quality piece. Now I realized that I overpaid for a cheap diamond ring, that seems to be costing me more and more. I could have purchased a beautiful blue diamond ring from another retailer and it would have been insured by their company for issues like this. Now I know why Na Hoku did not offer insurance, it's because the diamond would constantly need to be repaired. Although I do not have any problems with the store, I am extremely disappointed in this brand. I will now be shying away from purchasing diamond pieces, if any pieces at this point. UPDATE 12/01/2015: As I had stated before, I was not displeased with the actual store location or their service. The store manager contacted me after hearing about my unfortunate situation and was very kind in offering either to provide store credit and exchange the piece for another piece(s) at the store, or to have it repaired at no cost and shipped directly to me instead of the store. After perusing the store, I did not see anything that captivated me quite like the piece I had originally bought. I opted to have it fixed again, but the manager informed me that if I was still not satisfied later, I could exchange the piece - but she did not expect to have any future problems because she was going to have their diamond team inspect the entire ring. I received the ring very quickly, approx. 2 weeks later. Of course I still love this piece, and was only disappointed with the quality, and that diamonds kept popping out. It has been a couple of weeks since I received it, and I have not had any problems with the diamonds on the occasions that I have worn it. Mostly, I just appreciate that Na Hoku took responsibility of my satisfaction and their product, and recognized that the situation was not okay and did something to rectify it. I am still disappointed that it took social media to trigger the appropriate response, but in the end they took the right steps to gain customer satisfaction and that goes a long way in choosing a person's next jewelry purchase destination. read more

The staff is helpful and the items unique and beautiful, but buyer beware in terms of quality. I have now purchased two items (both cuff links) from Na Hoku and both broke within the first year. To be clear, I own over 30 pairs of cuff links and none have ever broken other than the two I purchased at Na Hoku. The first was a pair of freshwater pearl cuff links I bought while visiting Hawaii. The pearl fell out of one within six months. Shame on me for buying a second (different) pair a few years later -- again, when visiting Hawaii. This time it was a pair of sterling silver with wood inlay in the shape of turtles. About a year later the back bar broke off. They said they cannot repair it, so they are replacing it for a fee. The fee to replace the one is roughly 1/4 of the original price of the pair. Since the only cuff links I have ever had a problem with both came from here, I would advise buyers to beware. Reading the reviews, I see that others have had quality issues. It's to bad because their stuff is lovely and the staff is quite nice. read more

I've never been to a Na Hoku store before and didn't know much about the jewelry brand or history before stepping in. Our family went in to look for gifts last month. Our sales rep was informativel and never pushed us to buy the more expensive item when asked for her opinion. The jewelry was wrapped up nicely and both gift recipients loved their earrings and pearl necklace. The store have a good selection and appropriate for both younger (20s+) and older females. read more

The sales ladies here are always so helpful patient and kind. I've never had a bad experience here and all my jewelry has lasted well and is beautiful. No matter how raggedy I'm dressed they always treat me the same. Great customer service and unique quality jewelry. read more

I bought my wedding ring there because they carry Kabana. The ring is very beautiful. However, it is flawed as a wedding ring. The spiny oyster inlay popped out twice in less than a year. I was told that the guarantee was for life. They fixed it for free the first time but not the second time. I was told that I should not wear it at night and when I told them that it was sold to me as a wedding ring so that I was going to wear it at night, I was told that the gold being malleable, it was normal that the inlay was going to pop out. In this case, there is a FLAW in the design and it should not be sold as an engagement or a wedding ring. The second problem is that it takes 5 to 7 weeks to get fixed because it is sent to Hawaii first and then to NM where Kabana is located. Over the 5 to 7 weeks of repair, there is 4 weeks of shipping... That's ridiculous. The staff is not very knowledgeable and the manager not very friendly. Too bad... my husband and I went there in the first place because it is made and design in the US. read more

Stopping by at Na HoKu is always a total pleasure and feels like visiting a slice of paradise ( we have never been, but are dreaming maybe one fine day visiting Hawaii!) Yesterday, we just stopped by to say "Hello" when running errands and were helped by the lovely Maria who looks just like Meryl Streep, I swear!! The also charming and warm hearted lady who had previously helped us, equally lovely Miriam, was also there, and what a delight seeing these wonderful sales professionals again! We were just browsing ( or so we thought:) and mainly stopping by briefly to greet them, as usual, there was absolutely no pressure or pushiness to buy and we ended up buying my first watch in many, many years. I am just not a watch wearer since I stopped working as a flight attendant and put my old dual time zone watch in my box of memories. And I hadn't seen one I liked in years but they had a charming one with environmentally sourced Koa wood from Hawai'i that looks chic and organically timeless. Maria kindly took out two links straight away as the watch was too wide and in the meantime, I admired all the tropical, chic pieces on offer. All ladies working at this store ( the first one we met last year was a fellow former flight attendant and also absolutely lovely) are a sheer delight, ooze warmth and real hospitality, and make one want to stop by every time one goes to Tyson's. I have known our mall since 19 years and seen its transformation over time with extensions, stores coming and going etc, yet this store just like Zales and Kay's consistently brings so much joy to its customers, at least to us, that we couldn't be more grateful. Maybe because of some deep yearning of wanting to visit Hawaii since forever, which is just not in the cards financially any time soon, we had not visited this store in all the years until last winter when we finally entered this little oasis of island flair and enchantment. I wish we had done so earlier, but a big hats off to the friendly, courteous and professional staff who are always helpful and exude what I imagine the Aloha spirit of Hawaii to be in person!
