A great option at the Tangram Food court Egg tarts can be quite expensive, but are worth a splurge/special treat. I really love all the amazing flavors that they have. While the original is a classic, I would highly recommend trying out the chocolate boba or the mocha flavors as well. The tarts do not stay fresh long, so make sure you get them fresh. You can store them for a day in the fridge (maybe 2 if you really wanna stretch it out) or about a week in the freezer. Just a heads up, the tarts are a little pricey - about $4 a pop. I want to like Na Tart because they're innovative with their flavors but I can't because ultimately the egg tart just doesn't come together. The crust is flaky but almost too hard like an elephant ear (palmer cookie) and because if their size the ratio of crust to filling is almost 50/50 which doesn't give you the custardy mouthful of what a dan tat is suppose to have. If they increase the diameter and has more filling then it could be a better product but for now each bite takes more like patsy dough than what the actual flavor is suppose to be. read more

It's much smaller than the average sized Asian egg tarts in flushing. At 3.50 a pop for regular flavor, the premium is set very high. Cheapest I've seen for egg tarts in flushing is 1.50 and more expensive side is 2.75 for normal sizes. Not sure if this worth a 2nd visit to me. The one with more toppings are 4.50 I believe. The tarts here are absolutely disgusting. I had the durian tart and ube cheese, both of which had a terrible taste and horrible texture. There was no custard, it was clumpy filling. The durian tart was topped with durian puree but the tart filling had the texture and taste of the hard unripe pcs of durian flesh on the pit (durian eaters knows what I am talking about). The ube cheese did not taste like ube and did not have any hint of cheese or cream cheese. The texture was also off-putting and clumpy. Worst egg tarts I have ever had. This is going to be a big H-E-L-L N-O for me. This place needs to get it together, because this establishment is super disorganized and doesn't know how to run a business. They totally should factor in people's times and definitely work on communication. This is my first time in this building, Tangram and I saw there was a huge line and so stupid me get in this line. While I was waiting, I looked up on Yelp and I saw that it has super low rating and it's because of these egg tarts. I looked and I saw they're making these egg tarts on the spot and saw people in the front of line getting them. I saw the menu near the cash wrap and saw two items that stated "not available", but saw there was no mention of the Portuguese Egg Tart and it didn't have "not available" besides the manual type menu. I didn't notice any red flags while waiting in line and finally it is my turn after waiting 40 minutes. I ordered the egg tarts and she said, we're sold out. Okay, seriously - that's not cool. Other establishments would get out behind the register and tell the people in line that they no longer have this rather than wasting everyone's time just because they trying to build interest and hype around their business. Those beautiful delicious photos on their Instagram is not what you get, unfortunately. I was at their very first soft opening day, and they were selling burnt tarts, the tops were almost totally all black. They are selling burnt tarts?? The insides were probably still eatable. But I didn't want to find out, so I left and re-visited them a week later. A week later, The tarts are no longer burnt, but still nothing like the Instagram pictures. I was told they would be ready in 15 minutes. Half hour later, they are still not ready. Unfortunately I prepaid already, otherwise I would have left. When I finally got them, it looks like they haphazardly put some tarts together. For $3.75 each, I thought there would be a bit more finesse. And they are very small. The ube tart looks like it was barely mixed properly. Instead of being all purple like in Instagram, there was just a random midge of purple in the center. I tasted it. Couldn't even tell what the flavor was. Instagram photo had topping on it. Mine had none. Just so you know, on their Instagram, every tart flavor has some type of topping on it. Three of the tarts i was given, had no toppings. Mango. 2 very under-ripe hard fruit bits on top, that were sour. Barely tasted any mango flavor in the custard. Their Instagram photo had 6 mango pieces. There is also add some sort of white foam on top. Which disappears very soon. It was gone by the time I took it home. The crust is pretty crispy and crunchy. But there was too much of it, compared to the small amount of egg custard in the center. And it was more cakey then custard. If you wanna come here, I suggest you wait a few weeks until they get their act together. Final note: I was sold sub-par product. Don't pay for it ahead of time, like me. I went to purchase it at around 2:00 PM, and expected the egg tarts to be available to purchase by 2:00 PM, but instead, the workers were just starting to make the tarts and bake them. I waited 40 minutes from the time I got there to when I had them in my hands. There were 4 people ahead of me, and everyone bought a minimum of 4-6. What frustrated me the most, was the long wait time and the lack of preparation and disorganization. At some point, I was hearing that they were sold out. I first want to disclose that I received this for free as a Yelp Elite Squad event. I thought these egg tarts were great. For my four options they suggested the original, ube cheese, durian, and chocolate bobo. I tried them right away and they were warm and crunchy. The original was what I wanted it to be--the custard was perfectly sweet and wasn't too heavy. The ube cheese was great and too mild so I got a good taste of the ube. I personally am not the biggest fan of durian so that one wasn't my favorite. If you're looking for something sweet definitely go for the chocolate! While it wasn't bad, Na tart is one of those places you'd go to and think why fix something that isn't broken. My boyfriend got me a box of six with the majority of the flavors, but it was a bit of a challenge to decipher each flavor putting the toppings aside. The one thing I did enjoy was how flaky the crust was, but there was also too much of it compared to the main part of what I love about a good egg tart. I also really liked the ube cheese. It reminded me of a cheesecake but more moist and softer. The mochi one is also really good. Just be careful because they are not stuck on so they can fall off. I got a box of 6, (2) original, (1) durian, (1) purple sweet potato and (2) chocolate bobo... for $21 . Looks like they are all original and toppings are added when requested. So it's not really just sitting there you know. I mean, they are, but when you get a specialty one, the toppings are added fresh. . I was impressed, it was very tasty and warm. The crust flaked a bit but that was because I tried to tear it apart with my hands. It was not easy and they didn't have any utensils... . The tarts are small (smaller than the palm of my small hand) so when you choose a flavor, it really overpowers the tart, you won't be able to taste the egg custard much, especially if you get the durian. I understand sometimes items get sold out due to high demand but I've never encountered a situation where you have nothing to sell the next day. I didn't pursue this topic any further since I actually do celebrate Easter and was in a good mood. Since my bf was waiting for me and I had stood in line for so long in the hot, crowded Tangram food court (on Easter Sunday nonetheless), I didn't want to leave empty handed so I opted for the Durian tart. It was alright. The egg custard ratio appears to be right but the baking time needs to be adjusted; they made puff pastry flakier than dry skin in the wintertime. Have water ready. The gimmick here is they add random toppings to smaller than average tarts and try to justify the price that way. Having previously frozen fruit of sensitive texture such as durian sitting in room temp is not the best idea and I should've known better to pick something else -- only except I hadn't considered the possibility of not getting what I went there for. Wonderfully warm fresh from the oven, super flaky crisp well-baked crust with no "soggy bottom", really delicious fillings that were not too sweet, which is the issue I have with the super popular (but way too sweet, IMO) Joey Bats' Portuguese egg tarts. I thought the purple potato tart would have just a little bit of purple potato topping, but there was a lot in the filling, too and had a great pronounced but not overwhelming flavor. My only complaint is the filling texture isn't as super silky smooth as I'd like. But the flavor is spot-on, and the super flaky crust with lots of layers has the perfect texture.
