I've visited this restaurant a handful of times already, and I've never left unsatisfied. Apparently this place has been around for a good while and I can understand why! If you're looking for fresh tasting thai food and some drinks, this is a reliable spot to go to in the Energy Corridor. The service has always been good every visit, and although the interior ambiance is a bit outdated, it matches the "hole in the wall, we've been here a while" vibe this place gives off LOL. I LOVE their pad thai and pad see ew here. Their spice level offerings are also solid for those who like to eat real spice. I don't eat Thai food often but this is one of my top 3 places out of all the one's I've had in Houston currently. Amazing and keeps getting better every time I go! Super friendly owners, on Valentine's Day the wife gives out a rose to the ladies. I missed it this year because we came for lunch instead of dinner. Lunch chef was bomb. First time I've had their lunch. The food is always superb! I'd recommend soft shrimp spring rolls, papaya salad hot Thai style, Pad Thai shrimp hot, Pad See Ew beef hot. Everything is good though! Recently I had this iced coconut ice cream latte??! It was amazing. They have a really nice patio area with trees and plants that we sometime like to sit at. I ordered the Thai crab Rangoon, pad Thai (no bean sprouts, medium heat, chicken, with egg) with a side of stir fry bok choy, and roasted taro with tapioca in sweet milk on Uber Eats and had it delivered. The Thai crab rangoons were tasty and a little on the sweet side. The duck sauce it came with was the best sweet and sour sauce I've ever had. The crab rangoons were small but it came with 5 so it ended up being a good portion even though they are small. All of the portions were great and reasonable. The pad Thai was an extremely large portion (but because I liked it so much I ate half of it in one sitting.) I can be kind of picky about pad Thai tasting fishy, but this was not fishy at all. The heat was also very nice (might try a higher level next time, as I like when it's a little painful and this was just pleasant.) I agree with the description that it's about the same level as a jalapeño. The chicken was delicious. Next time I think I'll try adding vegetables and tofu as I typically have that kind of combination but for this restaurant it's additional cost to have a combination. (They sell it as either mixed vegetable, chicken, tofu, or etc etc, plus a number of other options.) I understand where one of the other reviews was coming from about thinking there were no/little peanuts. I'm used to them being chunkier pieces, but there were actually a decent amount of peanuts- they were just ground more finely and dispersed very evenly. If you love the peanuts, then you should opt for the extra, but even with the normal amount I could still taste them. This pad Thai is not on the sweet side (some I've had at other places are sweet.) This is completely savory. The stir fry bok choy was packed in a sauce and were delicious. It was not too soggy and they were baby bok choy. The roasted taro in tapioca was a new combination for me. It is a little grainy- as is the nature of the taro I believe, but the tapioca of course was very smooth. Overall it was delicious and warm when delivered which was nice. The portion looked small but was actually more than enough. When eating it, it was very filling and comforting. I am definitely going to come back again and I'm interested in their other meals- but I think I will be tempted to just keep ordering the pad Thai again. I wish I could order online for pickup without going through Uber Eats. They do offer ordering via phone, but I just don't like ordering via phone. Next time I think I will go in person. What a diamond in the rough. Food was excellent. Generous portions and seasoned to perfection. What impressed me most was their appetizer. Went on a Wednesday for lunch (I believe it changes daily). Do note they have a last call for food, but when i visited the owners were so nice and cooked us up some stir fry even though it was past last call. They give out great portions especially for their curries so highly recommend those. My go to here would definitely be the pad sew eu or their green curry! There's several Thai establishments nearby, but as the only Thai restaurant in the area that possesses a full bar, it became my selection for the evening. A karaoke stage and outdoor patio for dining are both great features this place offers. The menu states they use authentic Thai recipes, not Americanized rendition. That's my preference, so it was good assurance. The menu carries a huge selection of dishes, with many less commonly found ones in the states available here. The Thai sausage was quite tasty and went well with the accompanying slivers of ginger and peanuts. They offer two varieties. The red curry had a strong cardamom taste to it, which I enjoyed. The pad see ew had a good flavor, but the noodles were over cooked. I wish the meat in both dishes were a bit less dry and tough, but the flavors of the dishes were nice. So if you want something delicious after 10pm, you're S.O.L. even in the 4th biggest town in the USA, out of luck that is, unless you know about this secret bowl of heaven nestled in a quiet plaza on the west side of Eldridge Parkway, about a mile and a half south of Interstate 10 and the ConocoPhilips Spirit One world HQ which towers over the Energy Corridor area, as they call it, with the kind of authority only rivaled by the authoritative taste of the exquisite curries and rices and other dishes on offer here. Additionally, they have a wonderful alcohol selection, "curated" as a hipster would say, by people who really know what they're doing. Mike's a Michigan man, and brings that good nature and salt of the earth attitude to a city that often lacks it, with enormous portions, affordable prices that very rarely inflate even when all his products are costing him more and more still each month, and a slew of faithful regulars that are so often here, usually hanging out deep into the morning hours as late as 2am. Food is served until 11.30pm, and we often take advantage of that. You can hang out here, get drinks and snacks, for hours after that. They have singing and karaoke and concerts and parties pretty much every Thurs, Fri and Sat, and often on other random nights too. Massive bonus points because we are fans of intense spice, and most places can't make things as spicy as we like them, no matter how much we ask for it. Naam Khao blows our heads off and matches our spice expectations like nobody else, with their level 5. I don't recommend most people try it, but damn, we're in love with that level of explosiveness. There's a reason why the people that love this place, love it as much as they do. Sure, it's all about the spirit, the feeling, the people, the hours too. But most of all, for us, it's simply one of the most memorable meals we've ever had. I like girls but prefer Man Khao Danielle? I prefer Dan Khao Stella? You can tell a lot of regulars come here and hang out all day, bottles of wine are affordable for a happiest hour, and indoor and outdoor seating are both available. There was only one person catering to all the tables but she was fast and polite, with good service. My favorite Thai restaurant used to be the venerable Kanomwan, on Telephone Road, until it sadly closed for good in late 2021. Since then, I've found two new favorites: Nara Thai / Nara Express, and this one, Naam Khao! If you like spicy Thai - and I mean REALLY spicy Thai - this is definitely the place for you! Their papaya salad and their curries are all excellent, and can be ordered at any spice level. I am used to eating the spiciest of foods, and I still prefer not to order theirs at the highest spice level. Either second or third from the top of the heat scale are fine for me. Even with the high levels of spice, the flavor is not lost. These folks know what they're doing, and really, I don't see how they could improve what they've got already. This is the place to go to for Thai food in Energy Corridor. Love that this place closes late! Very authentic... they don't skimp on the Thai chili peppers here. I loved the grilled sausage. Smoky, spicy and delicious. Pairs well with the peanuts, ginger, and Thai chilis... all of my favorite toppings. We ordered sticky rice to eat with the sausage and it was a great combo. I always judge a Thai restaurant by how good their som tum is and theirs didn't disappoint! There was a good amount of shredded papaya, and the sauce was spicy and tangy! Loved the tomatoes and cabbage as well. Pad see ew was solid. I tried golden pampano for the first time and it was so good. Crispy but not too greasy. Plenty of fish meat so we weren't just getting bones. The seafood sauce was new to me but I loved it with the fish! Servers here are great. Cute decor inside and out. Let me clarify by saying that the food at this place was AMAZING! Really good and flavorful too. The service we experienced though, was a different story. While the servers were nice... they were hardly attentive and it took them so long to take our order/give us our check. Not to mention they got my friend's order wrong, but we let it slide because mistakes happen. The server also brought out a plate of edamame that we didn't order , yet she still charged us. I am not sure if it was the owner we met today but he was really nice. He was running the show all by himself and doing quite a good job at it! Food: they brought a soup as our first appetizer and it was quite good. I don't even like veggies but it was spiced to all hell and was very good with all the flavor and spice. Definitely was different. Never had a soup like This and I have been to countless Thai spots all in the USA, Houston and outside of the USA for that matter. Very good soup. Next was the meal. There aren't enough great things I can say about this place. The owners are absolutely friendly. They treat you like family. I stopped by here on a whim looking for a late night place to grab something to eat and I had my dog with me. They welcomed me on the patio and even brought my dog out a bowl of water. The patio is so welcoming. It has cute lights all kinds of plants and a very calming fountain. They have amazing happy hour specials and their food is spot on. I ordered the stirfry noodle N4, A4 spring roll and spicy edamame. Everything is on point. If you do not like spicy food please let me know because the edamame will absolutely send you to the bathroom a few times. Well worth it in my opinion. I've been to Naam Khao on multiple occasions. I've been pretty satisfied with the food and the service. The restaurant is open late till almost 2 AM and It's a bar late nights. I normally go with the drunken noodles with beef or the Thai spicy basil rice with beef and eggrolls. I've also tried their pad ka prow with beef, which was very good. My last visit was a few days ago and I had the pad kee mao with beef. It was delicious. It was seasoned very well with all the fixings. The visit before last, had me ended up ordering the fried rice. They were very good too. Their spring rolls are very good. Golden brown, crispy, fried and served with Thai sweet chili sauce. The pad ka prow with beef was good too. I had doubled the meat and it was loaded with beef and sautéed with onions and bell peppers. Their service is good too. They have their set waiters and bartenders and I notice the regulars their all the time. If your cravings steer u towards Thai food, then Naam Khao is the place to go, especially late nights. read more

I called 2 days ago to verify if the restaurant was indeed open on Christmas Eve. My coworkers had to work the overnight shift on Christmas Eve and wanted to partake a meal with each other while working. Nevertheless, the Host who answered the phone stated that they were open from 10am - 10pm Christmas Eve. and that they were closed Christmas Day. Quite surprised to learn that there are multiple places but Naam Khao attracted me with their lunch specials and spicy levels on the menu! We got pad see ew, masammang curry and fried rice. The spicy level we tried was #4 and it was one of the spiciest I've ever had! In my opinion, it is a lot spicer than Thai gourmet's Thai hot!! First visit to this restaurant and definitely not my last. The experience was excellent! The decor could use a little makeover, but the background music was welcome and soothing. Our staff person was attentive and friendly. She took very good care of us with refills and brought our food in very timely fashion. I have zero complaints about anything. We ordered two appetizers: crab Rangoons (the best tasting we've ever had) and shrimp spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce (again, the best tasting we've ever eaten). We followed this with two delicious entrees: tofu curry and pepper steak. The portions were huge and filling. I have my own go-to Thai restaurant in Houston, but Naam Khao is always my second best. The quality never disappoints, whether dining in or getting to-go, the food is hot and delicious. Ordering from UberEats, tonight would mark my 20th revisit/delivery. I always get the same things, crab rangoons and chicken pad thai with fried tofu, extra peanuts and a creamy egg! But please watch out for the spices, my Korean husband who never backs down when it comes to heat, succumbs at level 3 with watery eyes and a runny nose. I prefer to stay in the safe zone, level 1. And I was blown away at how good it was, even on a hot day when I would normally not want soup, it was excellent. The entry, pad kra Praia, was excellent. I couldn't pronounce it so I had our wait staff help, however, I can pronounce EXCELLENT! The complimentary tapioca pudding was another fun surprise which was also excellent. My favorite Thai place!! I refuse to go anywhere else. They are mom and pop owned and one of them is always there. They typically have friends at the establishment that gives the place a lively vibe. I've been to Thailand multiple times and I've searched high and low for authentic Thai food here in Houston. Naam Khao has come the closest!
