I can't believe people hype up THIS location. I live 5 minutes from the 290 location and I drove 20 mins to get to this location... just to leave and go to sushi masa instead. First of all, Friday night, sure I expect it to be busy, I also (as a previous server AND bartender) expect 2 servers to be able to handle about 10 tables. It's not even that fkn big on the inside to be waiting 10 minutes for just WATER. Terrible management if you also can't anticipate that you'd need more than 2 servers for 10 tables. I didn't even get to eat at this location, I just left. I had my baby with me, it's taking 10 mins for no water, it's gonna take forever for everything else. Not only that, the server literally went to the table that came after us to greet them before us. So no greeting, no drinks, no water, like atleast thanks for bringing the highchair. Btw I also saw 2 dudes get up from their table to refill their own drinks. Nice ambiance, very small on the inside.. so small but 2 servers can't handle btw. I first drove up with my wife and 98 yr old DAD and notice, no Handicap parking in front. Then it got worse. Walked in holding and walking my dad inside visible holding him from falling. The staff said to wait 5 minutes while they cleaned a table. BUT, obviously the first table for 4 was next to us and empty. We could have sat immediately. WE WERE the First in the door in front of two other parties of two. WE walked to the gingerly walked to the other waiting area what was the patio, and the staff sat the two other parties of two before us at those very tables. The table they said there were going to clean and the table that was already clean next to the door when we walked in, where we could have sat immediately to help and old unstable 98 yr old.....but no. They decided to seat someone else ,for 2, that came after us at both of those table. WE LEFT! And will not be back. They obviously don't want my money and don't cater to handicap. You know what I crave after a 2 hour workout? Pizza, sushi, and anything and everything Nutella. Especially after 9pm, Taizzi has the sushi craving covered. Other than the ability order late, their sushi selection is pretty impressive and affordable. Although they do not offer uni or otoro, they do offer plenty of nigiri & sashimi options. So much so, that I tried a few items I'd usually pass over. My order of 6 nigiri, crab puff and miso was a little over $25. Tbh, I'm not sure I received all of the nigiri I ordered (I seemed to receive 2 squid and 2 nigiri of another white fish instead of the red snapper I ordered), but everything was well packaged! The food iteself, well there were hits and misses. Crab puffs were served as little wonton pockets, and the sauce was unconventional (maybe I was given the wrong sauce). In addition to my nigiri, I received 2 sauces beyond the traditional soy sauce- one spicy, one citrus (yuzu maybe). TBH, I wish there was a bit more instruction or I was less green in my sushi game because I had no idea what to do with them or which fish they paired with, but alone each sauce tasted delicious. As far as quality cuts, they left a bit to be desired and the salmon roe nigiri was briny (as expected) but extremely salty. That being said, my few additional bites were satisfying. It's very possible that I'm to blame for this experience since ordering near closing may have affected the quality of the fish, so I'm certainly up to give them another try, in the daytime. read more

I've come here 2 times now and I would return. Solely because they have fatty salmon, scallop sashimi, and let you choose the thickness. The fatty salmon makes this place unique, it's not at all common for ayce sushi spots, and it makes all the difference with such a smooth taste. Scallop also isn't always on the menu as a sashimi option so it's nice that taizzi has it. They're generous with the portions here, and it's worth the price completely. The menu is extremely extensive and detailed too for the rolls. Admittedly, I haven't had a roll that stood out to me yet, and there was a few that were lackluster, but I mostly just stick to what I know is always going to hit the spot which are the appetizers and sashimi/nigiri. The raw fish is really what I enjoy about this place. Everything tastes fresh. If you truly like sashimi, this is the place for to go to! read more

I've always said, if something is perfected, and it gets expanded and bigger, the quality and service won't be the same. Here is the proof. I've ordered takeout many times here and I will deliberately show up 20-30 minutes after ready time and my order will NOT be ready. I'm not sure if this is to prevent no shows, but these are pre-paid orders via Uber Eats/Door Dash. When I've had a long day and just wanna pick up sushi, it's exhausting having to wait an additional 20-45 minutes after an estimated ready time. This is every single time over the past year. I've been supporting Taizzi since before Covid in Katy. I'm overjoyed for their success with 2, and now going on 3 locations. However, the service and quality has not been the same. Tai (Owner) no longer makes the sushi, which is okay. However you can tell the rolls are not tightly rolled and the cuts of fish are all over the place. I went to this restaurant with my friends. Even though they said they were short staffed, the food came out pretty quick. They have plenty of options from raw to cooked food. I highly recommend getting mango mochi for dessert. AYCE after tax price is around $40, which is average. The restaurant got full very quick, so I do recommend y'all go early to get a table. You can order food in tablets now. They have pictures of the dishes on them. Taizzi is my family's favorite AYCE sushi spot. Fresh sushi, great service - what's there not to love? My most recent visit was on September 28 for a birthday celebration. We had a pretty large group of 13. Reservation cannot be made on the weekend so we went for early dinner at 4pm to avoid the crowd. Service was great as usual, food came out fast. Towards the end of our meal, they got busier so we waited for quite a while for the bill to be taken care of. Their selection of sushi and sashimi is phenomenal! The appetizers are also incredible. Besides raw items, they also have short ribs, udon, and other hot items which is great for the little ones in my family. I personally love handrolls so spicy tuna & spicy salmon handrolls are my go-to. One thing I would mention though, food items from multiple individuals might be plated together. Sometimes it caused confusion for us, especially when multiple people order the same thing. It's not a big deal if everyone is doing AYCE, since you can always order more. I have been here countless times and this place never disappoints. Their service is very awesome! Kind waitresses and clean bathroom (Unfortunately I couldn't take a photo for the men's bathroom but I will say it was sanitary and clean with a surprisingly good smelling soap!). The restaurant is kid friendly, has a sort of relaxing dark, quiet environment all the while playing calming and joyful music, which can ease your mind after a long day from work. The restaurant includes multiple TVS that are mounted to the walls. As for the food, their quantity and variety of foods includes lots of things like California Rolls, Tempura, and Seared Y/S Salmon Sushi. My favourite part of this restaurant is their absolutely delicious Seared Y/S Salmon Sushi. Well apparently, it's a special they do a certain time of year, $1 nigiri and I was wrong...it was good! So many variety on the menu with the exception of a few items not included in the special. While I still enjoy coming here, the quality has gone down a bit since my last visit. When the owner Tai isn't working, the rolls aren't rolled properly. The proportions are off, the shape was off, and they fall apart with an attempt of consumption. The sashimi pieces have also shrunk, though this I don't mind because I thought they were too large to begin with. Lastly, the fish was room temperature. That's a big no no. What do you do when you ask about your order and the server says it went to another table? ‍ I placed my order and was left hanging! After driving almost 5 hours from Dallas to Houston, I was starving. My cousin found this restaurant on TikTok, so I was excited. My family and I sat at two tables to order different dishes, but here's the issue: I arrived at 8:33 PM and placed my order at 8:40 PM. By 9:25 PM, still no food! When I brought it up, the owner thought I was joking, even asked my age, and called me a "you baby" (I'm in my late 20s!). This was especially disrespectful considering I had just given him my card to pay for the entire bill, which ended up at $488 for 10 people! For this price, the service was definitely not worth it, and food was kinda meh too. The restaurant wasn't even busy! Only Joel was helpful in trying to get us our food. We're a family but sitting at different tables for a reason--table numbers and ticket order exist for a purpose! It's ridiculous we have to raise our hands and speak up just to get our food. Each order is made fresh. There is a big selection of sushi, sashimi and rolls. Their rolls are big so be selective on what your order. Their sashimi are cut into big chunks as well. We ordered tuna, salmon, red snapper, octopus, tamago, hamachi, etc. i would skip the scallops as these are tiny scallops . We asking had grilled salmon collar. Too bad they ran out of yellow fin collars that night. Shrimp tempura was crispy. Galbi was delicious. Tried the fresh eel... very good. Should have ordered a second round. We ended our night with strawberry ice cream and green tea mochi. Staff was friendly and was easy to flag down to place additional orders. There is ample parking in the strip malls place is casual and not too noisy. They have TVs by the bar. Will plan to come whenever we start craving for sushi again. read more

Pretty full inside but there were still a couple empty tables. First of all, the service was very slow. Like EXTREMELY slow. Hot items that were coming straight from the kitchen came out at an appropriate time, but each of our sushi orders took ~20-30 mins to come out. We ended up putting in 4-5 separate orders in in advance because of the waiting time. We were there for at least 2 hours...Second of all, the sushi was okay. It wasn't bad but you could tell some items (ex. scallops, desserts) were pre frozen and other items just had very little fish. One of the few AYCE sushi places in town. However, when we came they were doing a summer special where all the rolls were half off. That's an incredible deal. I ordered the eel roll and the scallop roll. Both were so fresh and packed with ton of ingredients. Our overall bill came out super cheap too 2 rolls for $15-20. There is a longer delay than expected between ordering your food and receiving it. If doing AYCE, you are limited to how much you can order because they don't want you to waste the food. The dinner menu has a lot of options and can be overwhelming but take a breath and look through the options. There are also item not part of AYCE. It might be helpful for you to write down the items you are interested in. Also the more people you have also allows you to try more items because you can share. And for the people who are not interested in raw fish there are options for you too. I am updating my review to note that on Saturday, 9/23, I brought a party of eight to Taizzi. One half of my table (4 people sitting together) all got food poisoning after the meal. The other half were fine so we can only guess that it was a sashimi dish they ordered that we did not (everything else was the same on both sides). I have emailed Taizzi about this but did not receive a response. While I still recommend this restaurant for overall service and diversity of menu selection, I would caution against the sashimi. I would love to eat here. Unfortunately I've visited twice and there was only one server who was also the host, busser basically the entire front of house. The crispy rice, sauce, and crunch (which looked like hot cheetos) completely overpowered the tuna which I feel should be the highlight of the dish. It was just too greasy and saucy. I was turned off by the red crunch as well. Both rolls I ordered were not good either. The fish did not taste fresh at all for both rolls and had a very unappetizing flavor & texture. This place was recommended by someone but yesterday was the first and last time I'll be going here. Unfortunately, they were understaffed when we came but this was not the only reason for my low rating. We came wanting to take advantage of the AYCE menu. It seems like a great deal at face value. The dinner price is 36.99 for everything on the menu, hot plates and sushi. At first glance, the menu is extensive. There were over 3 pages of sushi rolls alone. When the waiter took our order her warned us that there would be about a 30 minute wait for the food to come out but we were willing to wait. Luckily, they have an iPad at the table so you can order ahead and not have to continuously wait on someone to place your order. The first plates that came our were the hot items, the grilled mackerel and the corn cheese. The mackerel was well seasoned and had a nice charred taste. The corn cheese had a subtle sweetness to it. I'm glad the portions were small so we could save our appetite for more dishes. Once our rolls came out, this is where a lot of the disappointment began. The first roll I ordered was the crazy crab roll. Half of the roll was basically filled with cream cheese and it was drenched in eel sauce. I've also never had eel sauce that was super runny. The other rolls I ordered were the final destination II and the super buri. Anything that had eel sauce in it was drenched making it salty and almost unpalatable. I tried their scallop sashimi which was slightly better but didn't taste super fresh. My 2 friends also ordered hand rolls which they didn't finish because the nori was too tough to chew on. We had to remind the servers that we were still waiting on parts of our order because the mochi we ordered for dessert came out before the rolls. Maybe the service would be better if they were fully staffed but the restaurant should also reconsider how some of their food is prepared. read more

For a sushi buffet, it wasn't bad. My sashimi cuts smelled fresh. I really liked their vegetable tempura medley. Banana tempura was really sad. Rolls are humongous. I highly recommend going with at least 4 people if you want to try several dishes. The rolls are huge and you'll be super stuffed if you want to try more than just 2 rolls all night (which you should cause you're paying for more than that.) I like that you are not forced to orde nigiri and eat all the rice. Just be careful. They are super strict about not finishing everything you eat. We've been living in the area for some time now and always wanted to try Taizzi. Finally stopped by and glad we did! Cannot complain for an AYCE sushi restaurant. This is a solid establishment where the dishes were all tasty. They have an expansive AYCE menu and the portions are reasonable so you don't end up ordering too much (they will charge if you have excessive food leftover). The one thing I didn't care for was the wine glasses... highly recommend to swap out for standard glasses. The metal ones they use look worn out and have a metallic taste to them. If you love sushi, there's no better place to go than Taizzi! I've been to both this location and the Katy location, and both are equally amazing. I always get the AYCE option, and there's so many yummy items to choose from (but note that there's more limited options for lunch, which I've never been to). My favorites are: - white O: sliced white tuna w/ garlic ponzu sauce, very light and fresh tasting with a hint of citrus flavor thanks to the ponzu sauce - screaming O: sliced pepper tuna w/ SO sauce, more savory and creamier sauce than the ponzu, still delicious - salmon and fatty salmon sashimi - white tuna sashimi - eel sashimi: comes grilled and sizzling on a small stone platter - caterpillar roll: eel, cucumber, avocado, eel sauce - deep kiss roll: 3 kinds of fish, crabmeat, avocado, spicy mayo, eel sauce, fried garlic - spider roll: soft shell crab, crabmeat, cucumber, avocado, eel sauce, crunch - mountain roll: crab, avocado, salmon, eel sauce, crunch, all baked - cherry blossom: soft shell crab wrapped w/ avocado, spicy mayo, eel sauce, crunch topping The mixed poki (fish w/ seaweed salad), mushroom cap (baked mushroom w/ crab and eel sauce), and handrolls are also great! The only thing I was not a fan of was the albacore sashimi; it was a bit dense and dry. Dessert is also included in the AYCE, and they have cheesecake, lava cake, and a variety of ice cream and mochi which are all yummy. The cheesecake is pretty standard; the lava cake was good but not really a lava cake, more like a rich thicker spongy chocolate cake without lava. My favorite ice cream is the green tea which was a refreshing way to end the meal along with the mango mochi. Their new menu is also very well done, with photos of many of their dishes and specialty rolls to help you make your pick. Each specialty roll is also clearly described with what's in the roll, on top of the roll, and what sauce the roll has. I love that they have so many sashimi and sushi options, including specialty rolls and handrolls, and sauce options. You can also choose the cut of the sashimi you want (thin, medium, or thick cut). The service is fast and friendly. I've met the owners, and they're very sweet. The food came out quickly, and they're not stingy with anything. This location is larger than the Katy location; the tables are spaced out nicely. The ambiance was relaxed.
