My friend and I came here on a Wednesday afternoon and there was nobody inside the restaurant besides us. The interior is a little narrow but there's a decent number of seating available and the Halloween decorations were so cute! We ordered from the Kiosk and got the following: Grilled Pork Banh Mi Old School Bahn Mi I love how the bahn mi's come with chicken pho soup and rainbow chips! It took around 15 minutes for the food to be ready and we took it back home to eat. I enjoyed my grilled pork banh mi! The meat was a little too salty for me but the flavor overall was decent. I enjoyed the chicken pho soup and the rainbow chips were satisfying. My friend got the old school banh mi and said it was good but nothing extraordinary. Overall, this is a good spot for some banh mi if you're in the area and want some side dishes to complete the meal. We came here for the food and did not try any of the drinks. The Banh Mi was very good - a 5/5. It came with pho soup. They ran out of rainbow chips during our visit. We also tried the Grill Pork Rice Box. It was just ok. The price was decent, but portions seemed rather small. 3/5. Since this place was famous for the Boss Lady Fried Chicken, we ordered this to go as well. The chicken is big. However, it's not as tasty as our benchmark place in Bellaire. Big Boss Banh Mi is a small, fast restaurant tucked next to Seiwa supermarket. The service is typical of any boba + small snacks joint and there is plenty of parking. There are a few high top tables and a bench area with small tables as well. We tried the Mad Box, which is a huge Taiwanese style fried chicken cutlet and fries served with a side of pickled onions, wasabi mayo, and ketchup. The chicken cutlet was very juicy and nicely flavored. I assume that the chicken itself is brined and fried to order since the meat was seasoned throughout and came out very hot. The only hiccup we encountered during our visit was that a good amount of the breading fell off of the chicken. The pickled onions and wasabi mayo compliment the dish well. Came in for a random weekday lunch because we heard about their big fried chicken platter. The storefront is a small little shop with some 1-2 tops. You order and pick up food at the counter. We got the fried chicken plate combo that came with fries and pickled veggies. Overall, a pretty solid meal. Around $11 for everything, which is decent for the portion size. The chicken filet was battered in light crispy batter and paired well with the accompanying green sauce. They are located in the same plaza as the Japanese grocery store, Seiwa. It's nestled on a smaller unit but good enough for what it's serving. Parking is definitely wide, without struggle. Location wise, it's also less than 10min away from the WoW plaza with all the Asian stores. Inside, you'll find a few high tables with high chairs on the right side, a unique way for single customers on the left side. This is not for groups,, who will need to take out if wishing to enjoy the menu together. Order at the counter, menu set on the right wall. It's as expected: banh mi and rice box. Each served with a side of pho soup or chips. The novelty in this store is in its touch of Taiwanese honor: the bigger-than-your-face chicken fried steak!! This chicken fried steak is juicy, good amount of spice and can be ordered as a solo item or part of a rice box. Which is what I've gotten: comes with rice, some crispy onion, some lettuce leaf, some shredded carrot, one egg roll, a bit of fish sauce. If you've been to Taiwan, this is great throwback. $12.99 Also, added a chicken banh mi. Great portion of protein, not too buttery and the bread isn't the crunchy kill between your teeth type. As drinks, tried their house lemonade, and milk tea. Both are great choice and probably enjoying the milk tea slightly more... Because it's the full combo with the chicken fried steak you'd get traditionally at a night market in Taiwan ! The physical footprint of this store is definitely on the smaller side so it can be hard to miss, but I would say it is definitely worth checking out. I have tried their grill pork banh mi a few times now and i've been happy with the food each time. Greens are very fresh and pork is flavorful. Bread is definitely on the softer side so if you enjoy a crunchy/crispy bread for your banh mi then i'd say it may not be what you're looking for. Price is also great! They give you the option of a soup or rainbow chips as a side. I can't speak for the chips but the soup is good and definitely a welcome add-on to the sandwich itself. Cashiers are friendly as well, they're good at remembering what orders go where. Haven't received an incorrect order here yet. Since the footprint of the store is so small, the dine-in area is not really meant for larger groups and can actually be quite uncomfortable to sit and eat in at. I don't think i'd treat this as a dine-in restaurant, and most orders seem to be takeout for this reason as well. We randomly saw this place after taking my daughter for swimming lessons next door. The interior design was neat. They had one couch that was dirty looking though . Only one employee working and we were the only customers . We ordered two pork banh mi sandwiches and Vietnamese egg rolls . Along with pan fried dumplings . There was only one employee taking our order and she then had to go to the back and make our order . I wanted to try out this small business. But she was really effiecent she said she will make everything in 9 mins. And she did exactly that! She made our food expeditiously. Note they are still in soft opening so not everything on the menu is available and the drink menu isn't posted yet but I asked to take a picture on the order screen. Small and clean, with bench seating and a couple of high tops. The food was def good and I'm sure will get a 5 once they're in full swing. To be fair we showed up in the middle of tornado weather, alerts going off, and lights flickering so I rounded up to a 4. Grilled pork banh mi and bbq chicken banh mi (4.5/5): Plentiful meat and veggies and very filling. Note this is chewier bread. Since we got our order to go, I stuck mine in the toaster oven for 10 min and crisped it up. Very good flavor. Boss lady fried chicken (3.5/5): This is advertised as Taiwanese style, which really drew me in. I can confirm the seasoning is reminiscent of Taiwanese chicken and the cut is nice and thick. The cook was good but I wish the breading was a bit crispier. Again, to be fair, we ran out of there so it may be better in person. Will try again for sure. Bigboss milk tea (4/5): I asked for half sweet and they accommodated but now I know to ask for 75% next time. 50% was a little too light for me but I didn't want too sweet either! Pho broth (5+/5): We tried to get the mini pho noodle soup but they don't have that yet so we settled for the broth to test it out. Their tawainese fried chicken cutlet is pretty legit. It was huge and crispy. We took it to go so it wasn't the most moist but it wasn't dry either. The pho broth that it came with a side of was nice. The one really egregious thing about this place was the rice. The rice was really dry. I'm not sure if it was old or if it was just made incorrectly but it was really disappointing. I have been eyeing this place prior to opening based on their name but never step foot since Seiwa Market always has so much to offer during lunch. Big Boss Banh Mi took over a boba shop that I didn't like. Iced boba? Completely forgot. Anywho... Service is fine. Small restaurant, in the same plaza as Seiwa market and Dollar Tree. At first bite, the banh mi was good. Light, crispy, yet has texture and fluffy. Unfortunately, it went downhill. The most exciting part of the banh mi are the cucumbers and actual banh mi bread. Grilled pork was overwhelmed with soy sauce. My grilled pork banh mi had too much mayo, which I usually don't complain. I am so glad I shared it cause I couldn't eat that much out of it. Size was good for the price. As you continue to eat, the banh mi portion thin out so it doesn't have that nice, light yet crunchy textured mid-way. Rainbow chips are shrimp chips, you get about 4-5 shrimp chips as complimentary (unless you opt for a small side of soup). It was tasteless. Weird from shrimp chips that seem to have just been fried. I couldn't finish their Vietnamese coffee. It wasn't strong and has a weird aftertaste like from Torani white chocolate syrup. As a coffee addict, I do not approve on their coffee. I may try another banh mi and definitely their Taiwanese fried chicken. Also, I thought it was weird that the guys used windex cleaner to clean the tables. I haven't had a good Vietnamese sandwich in so long in Houston! I feel like all the original Vietnamese sandwich places fell off and they're not as good as they use to be so I had very low expectations coming in when ordering. However, to my surprise, this banh mi was bomb. It was so delicious. I asked for extra butter and pate, and it did not disappoint. I also asked if they prefer the rainbow chips or the soup and definitely get the chicken pho soup so you could dip your Vietnamese sandwich in it and it is so good. I also ordered the Fried chicken boss lady and that was massive. It was huge however it didn't come with any sauce it would be a lot better if it came with some sweet-and-sour sauce or something, but it was made fresh so that was nice. The big boss milk tea is just as good too, not too sweet, and I'd personally say it caters to Asian taste buds! but the star of the show is the big ass chicken cutlet. They made me a taro slushy even though it's not on the menu. It was really good! Actually, the boba place that was here before Big Boss made the slushy too, but theirs was chunkier. So that is an improvement, but Big Biss doesn't do boba. :( I like the BBQ chicken vermicelli box. The side of pho is okay. The shrimp chips are good. The food came out very hot and fresh. The service was OK. My friend commented that the dumplings were like the frozen ones he can make at home. The restaurant itself is very small. I don't think they have a restroom. They blocked off a hallway that lead down next to their kitchen, so it did not seem like they had a restroom.
