Short Version: Eh.... Long Version: First off, I saw the name and had to stop. I graduated from a high school called Naaman, so I felt like I had to try this place out. This is an old gas station/garage that they apparently converted. Good for them for taking an old busted up garage and making it into a restaurant. They had just about the nicest cooking truck parked outside where they apparently prepared all the food. Interesting idea, but the truck had to of cost more than the building. I was excited to try the food, so here we go with the review: I ordered the 1/2lb plate of pulled pork which comes with 2 sides for just over $13. Pulled pork was a little dry, and the BBQ sauce was ok. None of the 12 different sized bottles were labeled, but one sauce was a little lighter than the rest so I grabbed both colors. Both were completely different, and not too fantastic. The potato salad is an absolute waste of effort to pick up your fork, scoop out the potato salad from the styrofoam cup, and put in your mouth... Don't waste your time with it! Mine went to the trash. I'm tired of BBQ places getting their sides from Sam's and charging you extra as if it were difficult for them to open the plastic tub, and put it on your plate! If they do make it, then shame on them! Having said that, the twice baked mashed potatoes were Amazing!!! Honestly, they could possibly be the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. If I'm ever back in Texarkana, I'll give them another try but only because of the mashed potatoes. However, for almost $16 for the meal and an ok tasting tea, I was pretty disappointed. For my only 1 time experience 3 stars is all they deserve. I will say this, besides the person at the register who was just trying to sell me on the most expensive meal they had, the service was great and the guys on the truck seemed personable. I'm sad I can only give them 3 stars. read more

What a cute, interesting building with fantastic BBQ. It looks to be a converted gas station that has been completely remodeled with no detail overlooked! Great waitstaff that was friendly and extremely helpful. The food was absolutely delicious! ! My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich and I had the 1/2 lb meat plate. I ordered the ribs and brisket with the potato salad and cheesy corn. All of it was extremely tasty and the rib meat fell off of the bone when I went to pick it up. The only downfall I would say is the portion size for the cost. On my plate I received 2 tiny short ribs and a small amount of brisket but other than that it was fantastic. read more

Oh my; all the hype surrounding Naaman's is, if anything, underselling this place. I'm from out of town, but work brings me to Texarkana quite often. The splendid BBQ here is about the only thing that allows me to cling to the remaining tatters of my sanity. The cheesy corn is ok if you like bell peppers, the green beans are tasty (and even better with a touch of the red BBQ sauce) and the meat in the beans are very good (think pork and beans with their pulled pork taking the place of the normal chunk of fatty bacon). But of course the highlight here is the Meat. The chicken is decent, but can be a bit dry, but the pork ribs are delightful, having just enough smoke and chew. But the sausage is spot on, with a great smoke/spice balance. The brisket is as close to perfect as I've ever had, just barely clinging together whilst dripping with juice. The 2-inch thick pork chop is actually a double chop, crusted in black pepper and juicy all the way through. But the beef rib (Friday and Saturday only) is darn near life-altering. Smoky, peppery, and deliciously beefy. The mammoth bone just fell out clean when I tried to pick it up caveman style. Both it and the pork chop are wrapped in plastic, sealing in the smoke and juice until you're ready to dive in. They're both a bit spendy, but totally worth every last penny. Get there early; once they're gone, they're gone, and that happens quickly. The two BBQ sauces, while not really required, lend a nice change of pace flavor. The red is a somewhat vinegar-y yet sweet sauce, and the mustard-based one complements the sausage well. I've found that mixing them is a great plan; the the result is greater than the sum of its parts. I always get it to go, but they now have craft sodas, and it's BYOB for those of us who believe good BBQ calls for good beer. Obviously I have a bit of a man-crush on this place, but trust me, you won't regret a visit. read more

Wow! Very impressed. It's a hole in the wall just off of 30 with really good barbecue. The ribs fall off the bone and the brisket ranks pretty close to the top of my list of BBQ places. Neither meat need sauce. I hate BBQ places that hide mediocre meat behind their sauce and this is most definitely NOT one of those places. The cheesy corn is a mixture of rice, cheese, jalapeños and grilled corn and is an amazing side that you wouldn't find anywhere else but maybe grandmas house. The twice baked mashed potatoes are great as well. If you are in the area this is certainly worth the stop. It's a little pricy but the meat is excellent so I would certainly stop here again when I am back in town. read more

A bit too spicy for me, but the brisket was very good. Much better than the rest of the country and almost all other places. In Memphis, e.g., and nearby, all brisket is basically inedible - dry and no taste. Obviously we are all in agreement that this is the BEST barbeque hands down! There are not enough words in my somewhat extensive vocabulary to desribe the mouth watering goodness that is Naaman's bbq. We happened to stumble across this place about 16 months ago on the way to Little Rock, and have been dreaming about coming back since then. I got the red headed step child which is mountians of succulent burnt brisket ends, pulled pork, and sausage... covered in the most amazing sauce that makes my mouth water just thinking of it! I got a side of "meat with beans " which were equally good. My hubby got the 2 meat plate with sausage and brisket which melted in your mouth with potatoes and corn which were amazing as well. To top it all off... we got their cheesecake.... omg... this makes me have a come to Jesus moment with every bite! It.. is... that... good!!! I can't say enough about the goodness that is Naaman's! Really, really phenomenal BBQ for this far up north here in Texas (and shout out to Arkansas as this place is right on the line). Had pulled pork and seriously, the meat didn't need any sort of sauce-but the sauce was just as good. My co-conspirator had the Red-Headed Stepchild and couldn't even polish it off (clearly missed my lesson on "how to properly eat while on vacay with smokin' hot chicks). The food was coming out of a legit food truck and it certainly made me wonder where all this amazement was coming from, but I've learned to stop questioning and just appreciate. Really great BBQ. This place is kind of bare bones, but its focused on the food, where you want it to be. My husband and I both got brisket sandwiches, mine with coleslaw and his without. We stopped at this barbecue place on our way to Texas. I had beef briskets and sausage with cheesey corn and green beans. My husband had pork ribs with mac & cheese and green beans. Barbecue were delicious and their service was fast. Great meat and not greasy. I would say their BBQ is better than Rudy's. I didn't like the cheesy corn that much. They mixed corn and rice with melted cheese and jalapeño. It was too rich for me. But the green beans was great. Their unisex bathroom was clean. Today I added Naaman's Championship BBQ to my list. We were traveling down State Line Avenue in Texarkana looking for a fish restaurant from our past, when the interesting looking food truck caught our attention. Exploring BBQ is a hobby with us. So we had to go back and try it. We came around to the front of the truck and placed our orders. To keep my bbq joint comparisons equal, I always order a sliced brisket sandwich. Our food was delivered promptly. Naaman's sliced brisket was moist, tender, and flavorful! If I were rating just the sandwich I would give Naaman's FIVE stars! I deducted a star because seating is outside and my sandwich cooled off before I could finish it. We are planning on returning when the inside seating is finished. I think Naaman's will soon become the go to place in Texarkana. Won't be long before we read about this place in Texas Monthly. read more
