I've ordered from Naan Cafe several times before, and until today, I've never had an issue. I usually order the vegan Pilau rice, and it's always been one of my favorite dishes. This time was completely different. After a few bites, I tasted something so unpleasant that I immediately gagged and had to spit it out. The flavor was extremely strong and unpleasant... honestly, it reminded me of sweaty armpits. It was so bad that I couldn't continue eating it, and the entire container went to waste. Before leaving this review, I called the restaurant because I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right. At first, I was told they had a new chef. Then I was told it tasted different because it was vegan. When I asked if he was saying the food tasted bad because it was vegan, he initially agreed before quickly backtracking and saying that's not what he meant. He then explained that it tasted different because they had a new chef and were using different ingredients and seasonings. I explained that I've ordered the vegan version multiple times before, so I know how it's was supposed to taste. In fact, this was my fourth time ordering it. The third time I ordered it, the rice had almost no flavor at all... it was basically plain white rice with the vegetables, nuts, and no seasoning. I let that experience go and decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, this fourth order went in the complete opposite direction. Instead of being under-seasoned, the rice had such an unpleasant taste that I couldn't eat it. This wasn't just "different"... something was clearly off. Unfortunately, the customer service was just as disappointing as the food. No one offered to replace the dish, refund it, or even seemed concerned. I mostly received silence and was told they didn't know what to do. When I said I'd have to leave a review since nothing was being done, the response was simply, "Okay." I'm disappointed because I've supported this restaurant several times and expected much better. Every other item I ordered was good, but the rice was inedible, and the lack of customer service made the experience even worse. If you're a regular customer, especially if you order the vegan options, just be aware that the quality may not be as consistent as it used to be. With the restaurant mentioning they have a new chef, you never know who will be preparing your food or how it's going to taste. Hopefully your experience is better than mine, because I ended up with what I can only describe as "funky armpit" rice. I genuinely tried to resolve this directly with the restaurant before posting this review, but unfortunately, they gave me no reason to feel confident about ordering from them again. read more

Spices are a bit lacking. Tikki chicken masala - delicious. They give a lot of chicken. Other places provide more sauce than chicken, so this is a plus. Basmati rice - too dry and brittle. The meal would have been excellent if the rice was better. Naan - usually other places give very small pieces, but I was shocked to receive 4 big pieces per combo. This is more like it. Goes great with the sauce. I tried both plain and garlic. Both were good - the garlic one wasn't too overpowering and didn't give me bad breath, which is great. Overall, I have tried better spiced indian food elsewhere, but I can't complain with the price and portions provided. read more

They have a decent amount of seating inside the restaurant as well. It was quiet when I walked in. A nice young gentleman helped me. He informed me some of the items on the menu aren't available for the combo, which would explain why they weren't in the dropdown options on the website. For the combos, you're limited to the lineup they have on the counter, which is pretty extensive. Additional items can be purchased and made to order--he said about 15 minutes. We ordered two #2 combos. Both had chicken tikka masala. One had dal makhani and the other had saag paneer. Both came with rice and naan--we opted for garlic naan. Portions are decent here as we both had enough for leftovers. The food was delicious and the perfect amount of spice! I'll have to come back to try their butter chicken (my fav)! The gentleman at the counter was very helpful and accommodating when placing my order. I have also ordered through online dining options and was very happy with the serving size and available options. I find myself craving their cuisine and thinking when can I go back. You can order custom dishes from the menu so which they are very willing to accommodate special requests, but they also have a great selection of freshly prepared dishes at the counter. One of my friends ordered the beef vindaloo and asked for it to be medium spicy. Unfortunately it wasn't spicy enough for him at all, but he now knows to order it at "Indian Hot" spice level. This place is so worth it! The place is small and has a few tables inside. When I first arrived, I got greeted by a guy behind the counter. He offered a sample of their today's special rice. The style of how they serve their food is similar to Panda Express where you choose the items you want. Another thing I noticed was that they labelled what was vegetarian. I'm staying away from red meats and chicken to help my eczema currently and so seeing these labels helped me decide what I wanted. I chose the 3 item combo for $15. It comes with a free drink and free naan. I got the house made mango yogurt as my choice of drink. Overall it was so good.
