The Thai food here is impeccable, and it might be my new favorite food cart in Portland! I had the…read morepad see ew and also got to try their fried chicken with yellow curry and rice. Both were fantastic! It was very flavorful and well spiced, with the perfect amount of salt and aromatics. The chicken is extremely soft, and the noodles are fresh and properly chewy. The Thai iced tea was very sweet even for my taste, but I still enjoyed it and expect it would be more refreshing if the weather wasn't so cold as it is now. The wait time was maybe 15 minutes, which isn't bad at all, and the cashier was very cheerful and pleasant. The food cart is in the back of a fairly vacant lot, so there's not much to comment on when it comes to ambiance. Overall, it's an excellent choice for takeout that I recommend enthusiastically, and I hope I get to try more of their food next time I'm in the area. :-]

Unfortunately, I came away pretty disappointed. Everything except the pork belly was actually really good. The rice had a good texture and separate grains. The fried egg was crispy and had a nice runny yolk. The cucumbers had a nice thickness and crunch to them (could been colder though). The prik nam pla (fish sauce, chiles, maybe a little lime?) was really great -- something about the flavor really popped for me and was tasty. And everything was served hot and fresh. But the pork belly sucked, and that kinda ruined the dish for me. The fatty parts weren't melt-in-your-mouth at all. They were just chewy. The skin wasn't crispy, it also was chewy. The meaty parts weren't juicy at all, they were tough. I dunno, everything about it seemed wrong. And getting the pork belly right seems like a crucial part of the overall dish. After eating maybe 1/3 of the pieces of pork belly, hoping each time that the bad pieces were just outliers, I gave up and just pushed the rest of them to the side while I ate the rest of the dish. Oh well.

With a stage, lighting and sound capabilities, the venue is prime for concerts and performance art. There is a really diverse collection of international flavors represented among the food vendors, most going beyond the typical taco and ramen fare found in the pods and halls around the city. Visitors can choose between African, Mediterranean, Cuban, Vegan Japanese, Oaxacan and more. In addition, there appears to be a central bar offering stool seating and alcoholic beverages. However, it wasn't open during my Sunday evening visit. With parking in the Goat Blocks, Grand Central and surface streets in the vicinity, there are several options available. But I'd really love to see some new parking structures or lots opened in this part of town. It's exciting to see a new food hall open East of the river, even if they do have some minor wrinkles to iron out. The space would benefit from some better signage, seating, and perhaps a second entry/exit point. Keep your jacket on, it can get chilly during the winter months. Nothing should prevent you from exploring Morrison Market yourself!
