This place was our first stop on our visit to Portland. Gino the dog got some treats and his photo taken! The coffee and bagels were delicious and the staff were really what makes this place special. It's perfectly named, because everyone really was super kind. We had a great experience and enjoyed our breakfast in the benches, where Gino the dog could join. Although I have a few favorite Portland coffee places, this is my #1 of them all! The coffee is always spot on and the food is perfect for that morning or early afternoon pick me up. Staff is always friendly, engaging, and all around creative. Althea they used to be known as Kind Coffee, same folks, same menu. same great service now under the Benevolent cover, which suits them well. read more

My doctor's office is across the street and I really needed coffee before driving home... Wow! Such a treat! I only had an iced cardamom coffee but I have to say, I'm not a coffee snob by any stretch of the imagination... I drink coffee for the caffeine and it usually takes me all morning to drink a cup...but I almost cried when I sucked down the last of this coffee in about 10 minutes. The taste was perfect. Balanced, not at all bitter. A little sweet but just right. And the barista asked if I wanted dairy milk or not and thank you, because I always forget. I opted for the oat milk and it was fantastic! Even if you're a coffee snob, you will LOVE this coffee! I'm going back tomorrow to try the Lavender Latte! Can't wait!! read more

I love Kind Coffee! My only complaint is that it's not located right next to my house. I had been thinking about trying this place for awhile after seeing some pretty great reviews and seeing those little cannolis. Alas every time I would try to go they were closed due to heatwave, Fourth of July or vacation when I finally arrived the people were so welcoming and as the name suggests, kind! This cart has good coffee and amazing cannolis that they fill on the spot. They remind me of the cannolis I get in Boston. The only thing off putting about Kind Coffee is the unkind barista. I'm not sure of her name but you'll know exactly who I'm talking about from the moment you walk up. She is the taller dark haired barista with a stank, yes stank attitude. The owner is sweet and the blond barista is adorable but if you're gonna be at something named Kind, at least try to be kind, try!!! Consumers don't have to pay for rude and disrespectful!! read more

Kind coffee was a definite stand out after a recent trip to the PDX! My son and I just happened upon them during a morning walk and ordered their delicious breakfast sandwiches and coffee. We even added on one cannoli for breakfast dessert and it was REALLY good! My son liked Kind coffee so much that he jogged there the next three mornings for breakfast and shared that if the KIND truck could magically teleport to a location near his NYC apartment, he would go there every day!!! read more

Rainy days and Friday, I needed a caffeine fix and walked over to this place, that is close to my work. Service was warm and professional but I must have ordered the wrong thing or maybe the mix wasn't right or something. I ordered the Chai Latte and it was really bitter, I didn't want to take it back but I couldn't finish it. I wonder if the tea was way to bitter.. I will return but probably stay away from the Chai. Yo, these folks have excellent coffee AND...cannolis!? Wtf!? And they're good cannolis! This is a boss move, a huge flex that literally gives them a superior edge over the rest of the coffee shops in town. So here we are, they're already a superior coffee shop...then they give your dog hella treats and it makes their day! This business model of being the best across the board (even to dogs) and having standard-to-better prices for their stuff is clearly a labor of love. I was in Portland visiting, and The Bite on Belmont and this coffee place came highly recommended for breakfast and a coffee. I do not regret coming here. It was easy to read the menu and place an order. The employees were very friendly and understanding. The breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, cheese on an English Muffin was outstanding. This is my favorite breakfast sandwich, cannoli, and coffee vendor in town. Fran brings the NY sass and cooks a mean East coast bagel sandwich. Best cannoli in Portland- we are from NY and we've sought out all the other places in pdx. I am particularly fond of their coffee as they use unsweeetened soy milk if you request soy and then offer maple syrup as well. read more

I've been craving cannolis so badly lately and was on a hunt to find a good cannoli spot. During my hunt, I learned that there aren't many places in Portland that have cannolis aside from Italian restaurants. Kind Coffee instantly caught my eye during my hunt since they do mini cannolis at an affordable price ($2 each) out of a food cart. A food cart cannoli with glowing reviews? I definitely needed to try it out. I ordered 10 mini, filled-to-order cannolis early Saturday afternoon (for me and my partner!) and they were delicious. When fresh, the shell was perfectly crispy, but held up as expected, maybe a tad better, after sitting a few days in my fridge. I loved how stuffed the cannoli was with the ricotta and chocolate chip filling. While I haven't tasted many cannolis, this filling was one of my favorites so far. It was creamy and rich, with the perfect amount of deliciously sweet chocolate chips. There was the perfect shell to filling ratio, with an added bonus of more filling overflowing from the sides of the cannoli in an easy-to-eat fashion. I appreciated the use of milk/semi-sweet chocolate chips rather than dark chocolate, as I like having sweeter desserts. In light of that, I think the cannoli could be improved by adding more powdered sugar to the cannoli shell. Overall, however, this was a really tasty cannoli. I'm already craving more and will make the drive across town for more in the very soon future. I want to try more cannoli places in Portland before giving Kind Coffee five stars, but it's set the standard quite high for sure. I really wish Kind Coffee was closer to me, as I'm sure I'd be a regular. I'd definitely be a regular to grab an irresponsible amount of cannolis, but the breakfast sandwiches also smelled fantastic and I can always appreciate a nice cup of coffee as well. read more

This cart has replaced the Da-Pressed Coffee Cart at Good Food Here. It's a standard coffee and espresso menu here. There are a few non-coffee items, including fresh juice. Mary from the nearby Blues City Biscuits cart recommended the hot chocolate here ($2 for the small), which contains milk and Holy Cacow chocolate syrup. An excellent choice. It had a bit of richness to it, so I believe whole milk or 2% was used. The cocoa wasn't an overpowering chocolate blast, just a comforting pick-me-up for a chilly day. Drink-wise, I often go for a Mucho Caliente, the "Mushit," a mushroom-based chai invention, or a Rose Mocha. Their drinks are decadent and may take a bit longer to make than expected, and I find it is well worth the wait. I enjoy getting comfortable on Joe's very colorful red cushions, taking in the purple Egyptian vibes within and the eccentric vibrancy that is Hawthorne outside. Fun fact: Joe doesn't believe in plain old ice, and instead he freezes cubes of milk! The cubes stratify into discrete layers that are fun to crunch through, reminiscent of the layers of baklava. Very enjoyable for someone who normally avoids ice or chewing on ice.

The intentions were genuine and things have progressed in a way where Albina Press is one of the most recognized coffee brands in the city. It's not too dissimilar from its OG sister location in North Portland (#3), where they still brew high quality caffeinated drinks with the vibes of a homey communal space with chairs, couches, and individual tables for a proper coffee date, WFH worthy WiFi, and plenty of anti-war propaganda in the self-serve water area in the back. The latte art was on point, the cold brew was most definitely strong, cafe au lait was milky and foamy in the best way, and the americano drinks were fabulous. While their hours (#4) aren't particularly suited for after-work hours, they do an excellent job of keeping their space clean and the vibes low key throughout the morning and afternoon. Prices are good for Portland standards. Most drinks are $5 and under, even for the largest sizes. The limited but high quality pastry selection is also appreciated. The service was good overall, just be certain with the order and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations. Lines can happen, albeit rarely, and I would encourage most folks to drink the coffee on the spot. The space is part of the experience (be weary of the restrooms tho), so enjoy the low key ambiance with a drinkable jumpstart to the day. I knew it was time to lock in instead of trying something Willynilly. She was super patient with me as I wondered what to get and discussed my hesitations. She let me sample a tiny amount of the strawberry uber syrup and lavender to make my decision and it helped. I ended up getting and iced lavender matcha and didn't regret it at all. It's been hard for me to find good matcha in Portland and they didn't disappoint. The syrup was blended in well. The flavor of the matcha wasn't too grassy, bitter or powdery. I'm sad it's a seasonal drink because I'll Miss it. I also got an almond croissant, which was good but not mind blowing. I think I'll try the banana bread next time. Still absolutely groovy (even during the apocalypse). The folks at Kind never cease to amaze me, their sandwiches are as yummy as ever & their coffee is a delight. Grateful for these KIND folks in this trying time, even with online ordering they still find a way to brighten my day at pick up. Great no contact ordering and super kind team. 3 stars for being one of the only places in Portland to attempt to make a cannoli. After years of living a walkable distance to this food cart I finally made it here for my birthday. The staff is "meh" and the mocha was pretty sour. The cannoli would be good if just a touch more sweet. Overall not bad, but not worth the raves. read more

Unfortunately, there was only one gluten free item that was displayed in a case touching items containing gluten. The staff are courteous and prompt, and offered suggestions when asked. I'm happy to finally visit this coffee shop, and will likely invite friends to meet me here in the future. It's a comfortable, inviting and well-lighted space.
