Got the Chicken tikka naanwich with apple-tamarind and chili-cilantro sauces. You have the option to choose one or more from sweet/mild/spicy sauces. Great fusion concept of the kathi roll type snack with a freshly made tandoori naan. Very tasty and the right amount of spice, the portion size is just about right for one meal! The location is great and happening with a lot of other small eateries on the same street. A friend of mine tried the Paneer tikka naanwich, and she found it pretty tasty too. I've read Yelp reviews for quite some time, but have never felt compelled to sign up and actually write one. Until now. I was so disappointed with my food from NaanStop that I felt it was my duty to warn potential future customers about this place that is trying to pass their food off as Indian food. I can appreciate a quick casual approach to food, but a "build-your-own" concept works much better for foods like subs, burritos, pizzas, etc. and not foods like Indian food where the components need to simmer together to build a better flavor, imho. I ordered the chicken tikka masala rice bowl--something I would imagine to be a safe bet at any Indian restaurant. After working my way down the line and building my "perfect" bowl, I ended up with a finished product of wet, mushy rice, flavorless chicken, and a bland tikka masala sauce. The menu describes the chicken as being "simmered in a spicy tomato sauce" but that was not the case. They used chicken that was cooked on it's own and then poured a separately prepared sauce on top. Although my friend that I was eating with was just as disappointed with his chicken tikka masala rice bowl, he did like his samosa (which surprised me since it was sitting under a heat lamp.) We also found the naan and the chutneys we tried to be pretty good. I guess I just don't see what all the people that have left such glowing reviews see. Maybe I just made bad choices as I was building my bowl, but I really think there are bigger issues at play. Like I said, a chicken tikka masala rice bowl seemed like a safe bet. In the future, I'll just spend the couple of bucks more to go to a more authentic Indian restaurant. It'll be money well spent. read more

I had been looking forward to eating at Naanstop since I first saw the coming soon sign back in the spring so once it was open I was there. I got the Chicken Tikka masala naanwich with chili cilantro curry. The chicken was tender and juicy which is good start since most of the places I have had chicken tikka masala in Atlanta over cook the chicken. The masala sauce had the right amount of spice and reminded me of the same dish I had at Indian restaurants in England and the chili cilantro curry was a very nice kick to the whole thing. And its a BIG wrap, well worth the price. I got a samosa as well and it was the biggest one I have have. The crust was crisp and light which is how I like it. The filling had a fare number of peas in it which lending a nice contrast to the potatoes. Needless to say Naanspot lived up to my expectations and then sum. It is now my dinning option of choice when I am on campus. I cannot recommend it enough. read more

Finally made my way here on a perfect Spring day with this mission in mind: find Shea butter at the Underground and find NaanStop. Mission accomplished. Though it took every effort not to stray into one of the other lovely and inviting cafes on the block (I'd never roamed freely thru the hood...THIS is where "such and such" is located?) I made it safely, and unscathed (it was hard to get past Rosa's lunch special...!) It's not traditional Indian fare...like others have said, it's more like Moe's or Chipotle. I was warned away from the Naanwich, only because it's really messy and you don't get the bread-in-sauce satisfaction; I went for the rice bowl instead, with the chicken tikka and a side of garlic naan. The yogurt chutney, tamarind and cilantro chutneys are all nice; the cilantro was spicy and fresh (probably my fav item, and the closest to "true" Indian spice). The chicken was still pretty tender at 4pm (I think they close at 6) which was impressive for steam table service. My only "meh" moment came with the garlic naan: while it was made to order, and was crispy outside and fluffy within, the garlic was raw and rough...I'll stick to plain naan next time. And there will be a next time! Now that I know Nirvana is a mere 2 Marta stops away (I never venture this way 'cause of parking) and I can be transported to this groovy NYC style hoodie in mere minutes? Since my first visit, I've now had lunch there everyday this week. I've tried the Indian cheese, the lamb, and the chola. Some have been in rice bowls, and some have been in the 'naanwich'. I would recommend skipping the naanwich. They taste great, but no matter what method I use (including the banana method mentioned by other reviewers), it is still extremely messy. The rice bowls have also consistently been delicious. Their mango lassi and homemade chai teas are out of this world, so don't skip those. I have yet to try their marsala fries or the turkey kabob, but looking forward to it. This has definitely become my new favorite place for lunch in the area read more

Not a fan of the Naanwich chicken tikka masala I had. Very stale/charred chicken and the soda tasted a bit outdated. Not sure if I'll go here again. The quality could vary depending on the days and time however. At the very least they need to keep the food and drinks fresh. read more

This is such a great idea. I love indian food but the only options for indian near me are sit down indian places. I could eat indian food every day so the idea of a quick yet delicious indian place like this was very exciting. I ordered the Rice Bowl with Lamb Curry for lunch. First the price was a shocker and then the quantity. $8.50 for that little plastic box was disappointing, especially when you have Dua Vietnamese, Tin Drum, Ali Baba etc offering much more for a reasonable price. Once you get past the price tag and dig into the food, you are confronted with the "Oh no not again" feeling about the Americanized Indian (or any ethnic food) taste. May be being an Indian makes me too critical about Indian food. But I wouldn't call it Lamb Curry by a long shot. It more or less resembled Lamb Stew without any zing; i.e. Indian masalas. In plain words it was bland. I understand it's meant to cater to a broader customer base (read Non-Indians et al), hence the bland taste. The Chili chutney was good. The other disappointing factor was the amount of lamb/goat. It was barely 2 tbsp of strewn lamb pieces. For $7.25 I get good solid pieces of Goat curry at the Caribbean place along with 2 sides. But at this point I want to give the benefit of doubt. It opened this week so let's see how it evolves. For the time being Lamb Curry from Naanstop is out of my list. The food is awesome but the quantity is low. Their food is really good. The naan can be quite messy but tastes awesome. Everything here looks fresh. For the same price, however, you can get a lot more food at other places on the same street. They should either increase the quantity or lower the price. The naan is not that big, neither are their rice bowls. For a dollar less than what Naanstop charges, you can get a falafel wrap at Alibaba which is filled with a lot more stuff, and 2 sides and a drink. Too many restaurants have closed on Broad street in past several years. I hope naanstop is here to stay. After all, the point is not just about good food, its also about making you feel you had some lunch. read more

I really, really love this place. I realize it's nothing fancy. I realize there is nothing authentic about it. I don't care. My husband makes the best authentic BIR-style vindaloo around. I love that too, but there is room in my heart for both. The chicken tikka masala naanwich with the chili-cilantro chutney (don't forget to get the garlic naan) is insanely delicious to me. It's spicy, it's completely messy, and I love it. And the samosas--they are huge and yummy and come with delicious tamarind sauce. It's a fast lunch spot that will fill you up and leave you very happy. The staff has always been friendly, and sometimes they play 80s music. Nothing really complements a naanwich like some Guns N' Roses. Plus, they once brought FREE samosas to my workplace. Free samosas will pretty much gain my loyalty for life. read more

I like NaanStop, but my daughter really loves it. I work in Atlantic Station, when they opened, she wanted me to Fedex an order of Chicken Tikka Masala. I said no, but we had to stop there right after she arrived in Atlanta. Very satisfying, all of the dishes are flavorful, but you can dial up/down the heat. We always get rice bowls, but have to have a garlic naan on the side, they are the best !!! read more

Naanstop's food is wonderful. It is definitely very authentic in many aspects, like the wonderful samosas that are huge and delicious and the optional super spicy sauces on the side, but in many ways it is an improvement on the often over-spiced Indian food you're used to. The flavors are bold, but not overpowering, you can still taste the freshness of the meat and the veggies and all the love they put into this food. It's a light, delicious and very unique take on Indian food and, I for one would definitely go back again and again. read more

For starts, the servers/crew behind the counter (where you walk up to place your order), were extremely nice & helpful in offering suggestions for those of us who'd never visited before. I got the chicken wrap, I believe. Next time will try the lamb. As a couple reviewers mentioned, the food really doesn't have a whole lot of flavor, spice or "interesting" taste to it. You definitely need to add a couple of their side sauces to your wrap (or salad) to help "kick things up a notch" for the taste. Otherwise, pretty bland taste. I also used a mobile Yelp coupon while there (which everyone should check out btw), and received the samosa (a fried veggie patty which was honestly better & more flavorful than the wrap itself!). Definitely worth trying, esp. if you can get a Yelp coupon & try for "free" the way I did. The samosas are fairly big and delicious & big enuf to share, esp. if you are also getting a big wrap or salad. To Sum things up between this place or other (er, preferred) places of same caliber (Indian/Middle Eastern) since having worked in the d'town area for 3 years & eaten everywhere: I would still go to Ali Baba's any day over Naan Stop (Sorry Naan Stop). As Ali Baba's is consistently dead-on w/their food & bold FLAVORS to go with it all (oh, Ali Baba's falafel balls are to die for; likewise their spinach Spanakopita's). YUUM! Also, if you want REALLY good (and unlimited!) Indian food, walk down under the Apparal Mart across from the Inforum & go to Haveli. Now, Haveli's atmosphere is "ho hum" (boring), but omg, for $12 ALL you can eat Indian (lunch) buffett & REALLY authentic food/spices/taste, I would go to Haveli any day over Naan Stop. These things being said: I will consider giving Naan Stop another try, to try the Lamb Wrap & to give the place one more chance. As suggested, Naan Stop is "not terrible, but not overly exciting" either. PS: A silly side note is that if you find yourself needing to wash your hands or use the restroom while there, you may want to re-think that by either doing so b/f or after eating there (& at another location). That is: You have to get the b'room key from the wait staff, then walk quite a ways downstairs & to the back/bottom floor of adjoining bldg, JUST to get to the restroom. And the restroom is NOT easily found even once downstairs in bottom of other bldg. Just saying'! :) Good luck! read more

I'm a bit surprised that the concept that NaanStop employs hasn't been commandeered by a national franchise yet. The "Indian Chipolte" comparison is very apt, and that should be considered a compliment. It satiated my hankering for Indian food, but was also quick and accessible, and felt much more like a 'quick lunch' whereas i tend to think of Indian cuisine as something best had for dinner, when you've got time to spend and enjoy all the flavors. read more

I had a chicken tikka masala bowl for lunch (which I think it a pretty basic, hard to mess up dish) and I was sorely disappointed. It tasted like they poured some canned masala sauce (if that even exists) over some pre-made chicken. The flavor profile that I have grown to expect and love was just not there. So, if I ever have a craving for Indian food and I don't have that much time - I'll walk a few blocks over to Tumeric or that one spot in the AmeriMart. read more
