What a great sushi spot in the downtown Hinsdale area! I visited with friends for an early weekend dinner. The inside is huge with four different dining areas including the front bar and back sushi counter spots as well as a large outdoor patio to enjoy when the weather's nice. Our server, Gary, was so kind and went above and beyond to be friendly, attentive, and give our group a good laugh. My friends started with a Sapporo beer and glass of sake. Their drinks menu had some familiar options but catered to authentic Japanese flavors. For starters, we got the Pork Dumplings and Tempura Zucchini, Sweet Potato, & Avocado. The vegetables tasted fresh and tempura was fluffy and crunchy; not greasy. For mains, we shared a bunch of rolls. We got the Godzilla, Boston, Spicy Tuna, Vegetable, as well as (2) off menu rolls. I loved that the vegetable roll let you pick 2-3 veggies you wanted to make it a unique flavor. The Sushi Rolls were well priced for the size we got. When asking for signature roll suggestions, a server told us about some off menu rolls she highly recommended so we knew we had to try! These two were easily our favorites of the night. What a terrible sushi spot. I left feeling like I just wasted a bunch of money. The fish is fresh... I'll give you that. I got the sashimi dx. The sashimi is placed on lemons. You mostly taste lemon when you eat the fish. Like what a waste. Got the tuna tartar. Oh my gosh there was no flavor. Also got the tuna poke. No flavor. All that needed some salt or soy sauce. 2 bites were taken and the rest was left. And I usually never leave food. How we roll. Rolled well. But what a bland flavored roll. Server Yazmin. Also sucked. Was busy hanging out with the other servers to actually serve us. Still tipped her 20% cause I guess that's what you do in America... Tip crappy service. I had the best experience at Nabuki! My sister and I sat at the bar for drinks and dinner, and the bar staff was amazing! They helped us pick out drink and food items, and everything was delicious! The moment we walked in, the sushi chefs behind the counter looked at us and started laughing. This happened multiple times, and at one point one of them even called over another staff member, looked at us, and laughed again. I don't know what the reason was, but it made our visit feel very uncomfortable, unwelcome, and honestly disrespected. We spend our hard-earned money to enjoy a dining experience not to be made to feel this way. Our server was kind, attentive, and provided great service, which we truly appreciated. After we paid our bill we informed the manager about what happened and sincerely hope this behavior is addressed so no other guests have to go through the same experience. read more

4.5 stars... Greeted and seated quickly. The ambiance is very cute as it could be causal or romantic. Plenty of seating indoor, outdoor, and bar area. A live musician was playing outside for the guest. The food was delicious and fresh. I ordered the miso soup, mushroom dumpling which was a first for me and they were really good, crazy jalapeno with crab, and red devil roll. I ordered red wine and Kirin ichiban on draft. The wine was pretty good. And my beer was nice and cold. There were some items priced a little higher than expected but I'm sure it's because it's a more upscale sushi place. My server was kind, attentive, and she had really nice tattoo art on her arms. She was helpful with suggestions as it was my first time at Nabuki but it won't be my last. read more

What a fantastic experience. We made a reservation and we were seated right away. The restaurant is not big so reservation is recommended. Our server was awesome. We ordered several appetizers. Poke bowl, lettuce wraps, kushi yaki, and gyoza. Everything was great. The poke bowl was a little bland. For sushi and maki we left it to the chefs. They brought us out several different pieces of sushi and rolls. Everything was fantastic. We also got green tea crème brûlée and a chocolate cake. Those were also excellent. The sushi was fresh, tasted delicious and we could not get enough. My favorite was their Christmas tree roll which I was told is an off the menu order. You're missing out if you don't ask for it! I would have given this a 5, the only reason I knocked it down was is because of the volume of music. We couldn't hear each talk or have a conversation. Went to Nabuki for a work lunch and was really impressed. The space is nice and nestled smack dab in the middle of downtown Hinsdale. Had to park a few blocks away so plan accordingly if you're looking to arrive at a specific time. The food was nothing short of incredible. For starters I had a miso soup and Pork dumplings. Both were quite good. For sushi I had the spicy tuna roll as well as salmon, tuna, and hamachi nigiri. This was some of the freshest tasting fish I've had in a while. Nice local sushi spot in downtown Hinsdale! I came here on a sunny Saturday late afternoon and enjoyed my dining experience at Nabuki. I had a reservation and was able to get seated immediately. At the time I went it was pretty slow so unsure if the reservation was needed. It did start to pick up as I was heading out so if you are going in the evening highly recommend a reservation. The daytime ambiance here is nice! Bright windows that allowed natural sunshine and airy feel to the restaurant. The bar added nice decor to the spot as well. The service was speedy and friendly which was appreciated. They have an extensive drink and dinner menu. For drink, I ordered the 'Senjutsu' which is a bourbon based drink, with plum sake, peach and lemon juice. Light, strong, and the mint added some refreshment. So yummy. For food I ordered the crazy jalapeño which is fried jalepeño, crab meet and cream cheese. Such a good started, the fried jalepeño added such a good touch and paired greatly with the cream cheese. I additionally ordered a small fried rice and added steak. While very tasty it did not taste like your typical fried rice, the added green/red peppers gave it more of a stir fry feel/taste. For sushi rolls, I ordered the Stanley Cup ( shrimp, crab, mango, cilantro, avocado, sweet potato, and chili sauce and unagi sauce). So yummy the mango added a nice sweet tartness to the roll and paired well with the spice from the chili sauce and had a good crisp and crunch. We use to love this place! We came here for a birthday and sat in the back booth area. Midway through dinner a friend noticed a COCKROACH on the booth! We all got up immediately and moved away. I have been to Nabuki a handful of times and it has always been super busy. Reservations are highly recommended because even if they kept expanding the restaurant, it has been packed whether it was a weekday or weekend. I could say that the service was good, not great, but good enough. Considering that they were always busy, our orders were served in reasonable amount of wait times and the servers have been friendly. Their seafoods are of high quality and very fresh. The last time I had dinner here, I loved the SPIDER ROLL and the SPICY TAKO. Both rolls were delicious. The ESCOLAR was simply outstanding. I've had the NOODLES with chicken a couple of times and I should remember not to order this again. The dish is supposed to be stir fried, as what was stated on the menu, but it has been swimming in sauce the both times I've had it. I posted a picture about a year ago and I should have remembered how it was. I would prefer my stir-fried noodles to be NOT drenched in sauce, just stir-fried with meat and vegetables. Overall, Nabuki is a great option for great seafood and sushi rolls. Parking can be a little challenging since it is in downtown Hinsdale. Everything we had at Nabuki was top notch and beautifully plated! We had a bunch of the chef's rolls and they were all excellent. We ordered the off menu crabby tuna and that was by far my favorite! There are only a handful of options for anyone that is gluten free or celiac ‐ the waiter warned us the crab has wheat in it. We sat in the front of the restaurant and sound was vibrant, the seating areas closer to the back were a little quieter. Our waiter was attentive and great at making recommendations to ensure we had a great experience and a right‐sized order. A couple of us drove and free parking was readily available close by. Came here on a Saturday evening for a double date night. The ambiance and decor was very nice from the moment we walked in. Hostess was great, she originally seated us in the table right behind the hostess wall and we kept getting a cold draft whenever someone opened the door (it was winter) so we asked if we could move and she found another table for us right away. We all ordered several dishes and a few rounds of drinks. Everything was excellent, I'm a vegetarian and they had many options for me which I was happy about. Staff is very attentive as well. The drinks was tasty and made well. Most importantly their sushi rolls were outstanding ..fish was fresh and the 3 rolls we ordered were all delicous ..unfortunately I can't recall the names.. unlike many other sushi restaurants I found their desserts to be awesome . This was on a Tuesday and the place was packed. You really need to make a reservation to get in. Pork dumplings, scallop yakitori, kicker rolls, hamachi and a couple more items. They were all well prepared and flavors were on point. Saki, cocktails and wine list were pretty impressive.
