There are a lot of things to love about Nacho Macho Taco. For one: happy hour taco deals. Yes, you heard me right. Who doesn't love happy hour tacos?!? I ordered three tacos here: chorizo, tinga, and al pastor. All three were great but the chorizo was my favorite and definitely recommended. The toppings on the taco were great and they use two shells for each one. My only complaint as far as the tacos go were that they tended to break apart easily even with the two shells, especially the tinga one. Either way though, it was well seasoned and delicious. They also brought out salsa and tortilla chips before the meal. The salsa was to die for! I almost wanted to ask for more! Service was quick and the tacos came out right away. I finally made it here after hearing great things. I had chorizo, chicken, and portobello tacos but was tempted by a lot of the other options on the menu. The meat tacos were amazing and bigger than most I've had. The veggie one was ok, I wish it had more cheese. There are several margarita options to choose from. I went with the classic frozen one and I loved it. It had a great balance of all the ingredients with tang. The classic marg on the rocks was good but if I go back I'd try another flavor like a jalapeño one. I'll likely be back soon. We ate outside - there are several small tables surrounding the restaurant which benefits from its corner location, and it was a nice experience especially after being inside so much! I found myself in the laundromat across from Nacho Macho Taco and noticed a lovely table outdoors in the shade. Why not do laundry and eat lunch at the same time??? It's alright. Sometimes they forget stuff so check your to-go order if you're picking up. Recently ordered Birria sandwich and the dipping broth didn't come with it. Which turned it into a dry beef sandwich. Maybe the sandwich no longer comes with the au jus but the birria tacos are weak af so I don't recommend. There's a newer Nacho Macho Taco by the Barclays Center which is a tiny shop with a few seats, but they serve some of my favorite tacos around. So when I heard the original was an actual sitdown place, I was totally down for it. We went on Cinco de Mayo because we're colonial basic bitches. So obviously there was a bit of a wait, but the place has sidewalk seating as well. We sat outside, but it started drizzling, so they gladly moved us in, which was nice. Also had the added bonus of watching two boxers punch each other in the face on TV. Really made us think about how weird it is to pay money to watch people inflict violence upon each other. ANYWAY, the food here is just as good as the 5th ave location. The burritos are GIGANTIC. And most are around $10, which is a hell of a deal. Two of us split a chorizo burrito (which was awesome), and I also got a chicken tinga and an al pastor taco. It was probably more food than I needed, but I'll eat anything if it's in front of me. Loved that avocado sauce was included on the tacos by default. Be warned that they don't serve booze, but it's BYOB so load up at Beer Works beforehand so you can get loaded at dinner. read more

We were originally trying to go to the Nacho Macho close to the Barclays Center but ended up getting lost and coming here, which worked out with parking. This is a nice hole in the wall place that's a good spot to hang out with friends or to grab a quick bite after an event at the Barclays Center. - Food: Nacho Macho like many other Mexican restaurants provides complimentary chips and salsa (salsa was great!). We ended up ordering a side of fries for the table as an appetizer which wasn't good at all. For the entree, I got the Grilled Fish Burrito (Rice, Beans, Lettuce, Pico de gallo and Cheese) ($10). The burrito was ok, nothing special but not bad and a fairly large portion. - Atmosphere/ Service: We came in around 11:00 pm on a Friday and while the place wasn't very packed, they had a large group of people when we arrived and the atmosphere was lively. The staff were very nice and our server was friendly and generally prompt. During our dinner, he offered complimentary tequila shots to me and my two friends and had some friendly conversations with us. Generally, I'd probably come back for a quick bite if I was ever at Barclays again and wanted some decent Mexican food. The al pastor quesadilla was pretty good and the chicken enchiladas were mediocre at best. I also didn't feel like the basics were particualry stand out, like their chips, salsa, rice and beans. It's certainly not bad Mexican food, but I think there are better Mexican spots in the neighborhood. The vibe is very casual and usually they have a soccer game on. Servers are very friendly. After a long run, my friends and I stumbled upon this place for a celebratory lunch. Even though we had a big party, the waitress seated us quickly and was very attentive and friendly throughout our whole meal. The festive decor and upbeat music provided a comfortable and lively atmosphere. We ordered the chicken quesadilla to share, and I had the tinga (marinated beef stew) and grilled tofu tacos. Overall, each dish was well prepared, but lacked the vibrant flavors and spices we were hoping for. The soft whole wheat tortillas paired with the under seasoned protein and lime gave a one note bite of whole wheat starch with a hint of tang. The chicken quesadilla was nicely firm and crunchy, but was doused with hot sauce to try to provide some more flavor. I love Mexican food like I love my kids. Stumbled upon this place after an event, we were hungry and took to Yelp to find a good spot to eat. The reviews did not lie, it was awesome. It was just three of us an hour before closing we were seated immediately and the place was not crowded at all. Our server was friendly answering our 2 million questions. The cane over with our complimentary chips and salsa as well as hibiscus water (never had it before but my was it tasty). I ordered the grilled chicken burrito bowl, the other two did an assortment of tacos with rice and beans. Delicious, rice and beans were flavorful and covered in stretchy,melty cheese...OMG. My burrito bowl was delicious as well I opted to add sour cream for .75 and another round of chips and salsa for $1.00 to eat with it. We left vey satisfied. I haven't dined in yet but I could picture myself sitting here on a summer night drinking (it's BYOB!) and devouring many tacos... I ordered the grilled fish burrito bowl which ended up tasting a lot healthier than I expected. Which is a good and bad thing I suppose lol. Nacho macho is a safe haven for me as it's the closest Tex-Mex I can find in my area and it will have to do. It does the trick with all its classic delicious Mexican food. And the restaurant in Prospect heights serves liquor now as well. Nachos and margaritas anyone? Yes please! Everyone there is always super fast and polite, although I would check your bag if you're getting take out...on more than one occasion I've had stuff missing. But alas they're always quick to fix! My go to meal is of course the super nachos. When I'm feeling really hungry I'll get the chicken tinga added on for extra protein and the heat! My only note there is you could do without the giant bay leaves I sometimes find...but the chips, cheese, black beans with guacamole and everything delicious is where my hearts at! Their quesadillas are also a good classic to get. They're huge! But make sure to ask for sour cream and guacamole on the side or you won't have anything to dip it in and wouldn't that be tragic? I got the loaded nachos (no meat) and a fish taco. I bodied the nachos! I was worried getting them delivered. I figured the chips wouldn't be crunchy. Some weren't, but for the most part they were. While the service is quick and the portions were generous, the corn tortillas were too thin for the amount of shrimp and mushrooms included. The portobello mushroom taco was smothered in avocado sauce which took away from the depth of flavor in the mushrooms. Both tacos were dripping to the point of making the tacos soggy. I asked for an opinion on the hibiscus margarita and the waiter struggled to communicate. He attempted to recommend the pineapple only after the first sip it was poorly balanced and sour as though the pineapple had gone bad. When we tried to share and ask of it was possible to request a classic we were told to pay for it. Three ppl came over to share the same result-having to pay for another drink that was barely consumed.
