Super delicious and homey. I tried chips with guacamole and two tex-mex entrees: the chimichanga and Eli's quesadilla. The chips were super fresh (still warm!) and the guac was refreshing. The chimichanga had a variety of vegetables with comforting spices, and I especially liked that the exterior had little extra crunchy bits to add to the texture. My favorite part of Eli's quesadilla was the spicy potatoes. We also got two salsas on the side - a vegetable green one, and a spicy red one which was my favorite. NYC (and Brooklyn, in particular) have an admittedly strange relationship with Mexican or Tex-Mex food. For years it seemed like the city could never quite *nail it* and yet, so much of our community is represented by our Mexican neighbors. Well, we may never reach the heights that our West Coast or Southwestern American states do, but Got-damn if Pablito's doesn't come close. I've been by in the past to try the cemitas and tacos, both very good, but on this morning I was craving a top-notch Mexican breakfast and I was not disappointed. I ordered the huevos rancheros and they were some of the best I've ever had. A majority of the menu is mired in the Pueblan tradition of Mexican cooking so expect rich salsas and fragrant spices primarily inspired by chiles. For the huevos rancheros, I chose the verde salsa -- a lush, green, tangy, dense, spicy salsa that is generously heaped on top of 2 eggs with flour tortillas underneath. It is then dosed with crema (for a bit of a cooling effect) and heftily sprinkled with cotija cheese, which injects the dish with a nice umami finish. The home fries, though, as you may notice in the picture, are a bit of a scene-stealer. Yes, they are home fries, but you'll notice the orange color which caused me to ask my server if they were flavored with sazon. I was corrected and learned that it is, in fact, achiote -- a savory, slightly peppery spice that also provides that rust-orange color to food. It'd be a sin to put ketchup on these home fries, so I'd advise against it. Enjoy every bite with or without your eggs and take notice of how perfectly tender and slightly crispy they are (no doubt because they are cooked in either butter or lard...I didn't want to ask in order to reduce the guilt of eating them in the first place!) Pablito's is a fantastic representation of NYC's Mexican community and offers many, many great dishes. The removal of one star is simply for the service, since it is a bit on the slow side. I might avoid coming here if you had somewhere to be in the next hour, but please visit Pablito's and indulge in any of their great dishes! read more

Probably one of my worst food experience in nyc. At the time of the review, the place had 4 stars and the prices were good for nyc; ao I decided to try it with my friend. The people seemed friendly which is always disheartening to write a bad review about such place. There are probably 25-30 flies circling the place which should have been a good sign for me to turn around and leave but my friend wanted us to try anyways. So we tried. We ordered tacos, torta and another soup dish. The tacos were edible, but the torta was dripping oil and the bread was old. The soup was very meh. I just got back from Tejas (thank god for vaccinations amirite?) and was still needing my breakfast burrito fix. Cue Pablitos. First off, again ANOTHER purveyor of pinto beans. This is a rare feat in NYC. 'tis a land of black beans only so anytime this happens I'm just shook. Anyhoo, the breakfast burrito was as big as my head, perfectly assembled and just the right bit of seasoning. The green salsa is perfectly spicy and salted. The red one was sort of meh. Group of us ate outside dining on Sunday nice weather, and we saw live rats. terrible New York experience. there was a lot garbage there thrown around. better eat in a cleaner neighborhood. What's up again everyone. So I learned about this place when I asked for a recommendation for Fish and Shrimp tacos on Next Door. This was something for my fiancee because I know she has been wanting tacos for a while. We are new to the area of South Slopes and it's just so many places and great places that only the locals know about. I'm like this is a great time to get Chilaquiles because she talked about how great and fresh it was in Mexico City. And I'm like yea I really want to try something new and different so I go for the Shrimp Chimichanga. Why did I walk to pick this up I will never understand, I have a car. Now I'm seeing photos online of the Chilaquiles and it didn't look like that at all. It was missing a lot of the great freshness, like avocados for start. The red sauce was so spicy it was overpowering the flavor. You can tell it wasn't made fresh from them, it was like a can or something. The Chimichanga started off great then I ran into the middle of this burrito and it was some spicy pico in the middle. I had to stop eating that right away, I have acid reflux that's controlled very with diet and spicy is a no for me. I tried to clean it out and eat around it but this was shockingly spicy for pico. Words cannot describe how amazing my meal was. I was just looking for a quick bite to end my night of last minute Christmas shopping. I ended up feasting on a meal that felt like it was made at home and from the heart. I had the chorizo quesadilla and my boyfriend had the bistec a la mexicana! I had a corn quesadilla and my god never have I experienced anything like it. Super thic, and fresh off the grill. Both crushed and soft. I will most definitely be recommending this restaurant to all of my friends who visit Park Slope / South Slope / Sunset (depending who you ask they call this neighborhood all of the above). Their portions are HUGE and the burrito is impossible to eat with out a knife and fork. Their salsa can be improved upon, and is slightly bland. I have lived just around the corner from this restaurant for the past year, passing it multiple times a day. Very honestly, I haven't been tempted by it because it doesn't have the curb appeal of other restaurants in the area. However, I ordered take out last night - based on the overwhelmingly stellar reviews on Seamless - and wish it hadn't taken me this long to discover Pablitos! We ordered a variety of dishes from the very expansive menu and not only were the portions generous, especially for the price, but they arrived with all the garnishes and presentation you'd expect if dining in. The food was fresh and delicious and flavorful. The tacos el pastor - which wasn't part of my individual order and which I've never really been into in the past - were the standout dish! Two things that especially stood out, given that we've ordered a lot of local takeout the past few weeks... First, the order was completely correct, no surprise substitutions or missing items. Second, the restaurant was very generous with extra sauces and the add-on items were always correct and generous. As an example, we added avocado to two items for an extra cost - not only was the avocado added correctly, it was a generous portion that was sliced/presented beautifully. You can tell the people preparing the food care about what they're presenting to customers. Also note, there are many options for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free with the substitution of corn tortillas. read more

More like a 3.5. Food portions are large, so if you're expecting to eat a little then make sure you get something smaller. For the price you're paying, nothing really beats the portions here. The 3-way burrito is my go to because it has 3 types of meat. The caesar salad is also good. The only bad thing I've noticed about this place is the time it takes for food to come. Since I work in the area, I stop by for lunch with coworkers sometimes. The kitchen will cook for the deliveries first before the people sitting at the table, so it takes longer for us to receive the food, even when we've asked a few times about the food. If it wasn't for that, then I would rate this place a 4/5. read more

Plus, the employees and delivery people are super friendly and always manage to get our order out quickly. The food is good, but the service is unbelievably slow and bad! Don't come here unless you have at least an hour to spare. Half a dozen times we've placed a breakfast order for pickup, been told 15-20 minutes, and arrive at the restaurant to find out the chef hasn't even come in yet! Last time before ordering my husband asked point blank "is the chef in?" We were told "yes", went to pick up our food, wait for another 20 minutes (it had been 40 minutes at this point), and then see someone walking towards the kitchen with boxes of groceries to start prepping... no apologies at all from the waitress. I will never order delivery from here again - it took exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes for the order to get to my place which is only 5 blocks and an avenue away. When we ordered they told us it would 30-40 minutes and when we called after an hour had passed they told us they are making it, it is very busy today with no ETA. With that being said, the food was really good and it wasn't as greasy as I had expected it to be so that was a pleasant surprise. We ordered tacos, a chorizo huarache, and the carnitas platos. My favorite was the huarache because it had the most flavor. The least liked was the carnitas platos as it was rather lacking in flavor and the meat was a saltier than desired. I am open to trying other things from this place as it's tough to find good eats in greenwood but I will most definitely either do take out or dine-in. read more

The service was slow but attentive, our waiter never messed up and was fun to talk to. The food was delicious but not as spicy as I hoped it would be considering I'm from Texas where mild is hotter than there hot sauce. My girlfriend got a chicken wrapped she absolutely loved with fries that were so good I also had to order a side of (just an fyi the fries didn't reheat well). And the waitresses are very sweet and kind. BUT my God they make you wait! Here for breakfast ...hadn't been in a couple months because last time had to walk out because the food never came. Even with the restaurant only half full, today took literally 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee and almost 30 minutes for my eggs. And then for the final blow, the food wasn't even hot. Would've sent itback but who can wait another hour....Crazy. Also they have very annoying habit of spraying the tables with Windex so the place reeks of chemicals. Yuck!
