Went back here a few more times after the last visit. They have gotten a lot better with customer service. Last time their loco moco was extremely salty and was difficult to eat. All they did was provided extra rice to accommodate the situation. Came back here again recently and it was worth the wait and drive. Small place in a strip mall. We went on a Sunday night and it was very crowded. Our server was very friendly however the service was very slow. They seemed overwhelmed. I ordered the loco moco, which was much wetter than I expected (the gravy was more like a broth). The patty was tasty and I was impressed how they made a vegan sunny side egg runny. The dish itself was tasty but a bit salty; the gravy broth was reminiscent of French onion soup with lots of onion and mushroom flavor. Very cute spot with fun nature-themed decor. Every time I visit, the staff is friendly, and a couple of times the owner has come out into the front of house to see how everything is going with guests. The food never disappoints. Quality is very high. It's very expensive to me, $20 for a wrap is definitely above average. But it's in a desirable location and they don't skimp on ingredient quality so I can see what contributes to the higher prices. I do wish they had more dessert options instead of just beignets. We were sat immediately at a table and served ice water along with menus. Friday night is busy for them! Lots of tables filled before and after us! We shared the crunchy tacos, loco moco, and wet burrito. I love me any tacos dorados (fried tacos) and these are always delicious. No salsa needed since it's so well seasoned and balanced. The loco moco was a little bit on the saltier side. In the future I'd prefer the gravy on the side so I can control the saltiness. The protein patty tastes just like a regular burger patty! And the fried "egg" on top was really good too. It even had the runny yolk texture too. My favorite this meal was the wet burrito. The texture of the protein they used was so good. A nice chew and good flavor too. It's already cut in half when they serve it but they still give you a knife in case. Towards the end of our meal, we received complimentary beignets! Four fresh, hot, and served with a sauce. I only had one and my two friends also had one each. My friends enjoyed this spot and commented it's one of their new favorite vegetarian/vegan locations. The texture was from the hearts of palm and paired with the lemon aioli, it was a great blend of salty and sour and crunchy. I ordered my usual Hawaiian bowl and it was delicious just like how I remembered it to be the first time around. Great flavors, fresh, hearty, and healthy. The bowl definitely satisfy your hungry and fills you up nicely. Service is always great, friendly and efficient staff members. The restaurant was a bit smokey this day, not sure if they burnt something but there wasn't much ventilation and the smoke just sat in the sitting area. We got different dishes and tried crab cakes hem all. As an appetizer we order Cajun Crab Cakes which were excellent!!! I ordered the Loco Moco as the vegan egg caught my attention, but it was too salty for my taste buds. If they reduce it by two levels it probably be best. My husband had the wet burrito and it was delicious if you can handle spices. Our friends order a Hawaiian dish with a mix of greens and a Peanut Tofu Satay dish with a mix of green, both were delicious. Next time I go, I'll order those dishes. CHEESESTEAK MELT WRAP - Their "steak" is wheat gluten and soy meat. - Deliciously sautéed vegetables of onion, red bell peppers, and mushrooms. - The lettuce was crispy and fresh. - The tortilla wrap was grilled on the stove and had a lovely smoky flavor. - Everything was served hot. - I couldn't tell it was vegan! Although, yes the "steak" tasted more like mushroom than actual meat. - The cheese sauce and ranch dressing made the wrap! If not for the sauce, I don't think it would have been as delicious. - Recommend for first timers! The portion was generous too! GRAINS AND GAINS - This is a grain bowl with salad. - Added "steak" to my bowl, forgetting that this was an all-vegan restaurant. So I was chewing on the soy meat, being reminded again and again that indeed I was eating at an all-vegan restaurant. The texture of the soy meat was more of a chewier shiitake mushroom. The flavor was like sautéed mushroom with soy sauce. I didn't mind it, but I admit I wished it was red meat. - The portion was generous and there were a lot of salad and grains in it to satisfy a big appetite. I couldn't even finish this! - Salad was fresh and the grains in it were well-cooked. I was looking up "Vegetarian Food" while visiting my hair stylist in Downey and this new place called the Mustard Seed came up! I gave their website a look and it had an amazing amount of options so I decided to go here after my hair appointment. The Mustard Seed is located in the Landmark Square Cerritos Plaza. Parking is ample and I got here around 3:30pm today. I am not strictly vegan but I am a vegetarian so I was excited to go somewhere with more than 2 options for me. The place was spacious, clean, and very nicely decorated. I was greeted by a staff member (I did not get her name but she was so helpful!) and I asked her if their strawberry hibiscus drink was sweet (I love a sweet drink), she said that it was definitely sweet. I let her know it was my first time and she was so patient. I ordered the Peanut Satay bowl and asked if I could add edamame to it and she said it would be no problem and that I also wanted to try the Hot Honey Chicken stripe. The cashier said that since it's my first time I would also get a complimentary dessert on the house! I got the plain beignet. There were people dining so my golden and I opted to sit on the hightops. The food came out and the Hot Honey Chicken was superb! The strawberry hibiscus drink was absolutely delicious! The bowl that I got was huuuuge! I definitely could not finish it but it was beautifully presented and tasted so good! The complimentary desert was so good too. I went to The Mustard Seed with my girlfriend last week, who's vegan (I'm not, but I enjoy good vegan food at times lol) and it was absolutely amazing! She's a very picky eater, but she got the fried "chicken" (Oyster Mushroom) sandwich and she rated it a 10/10 (which, given her pickiness, is very rare lol). I took a bite of it myself and I fully agreed. It was incredible! The flavors were amazing and the mushroom was perfectly crispy. In addition to the food, the inside of the restaurant was very aesthetic and cutely decorated. With the pretty interior, and the kind workers, we felt very welcome. Speaking of the kind workers, they were incredibly sweet and their customer service was great. After we told them it was our first time trying the spot, they even threw in a complimentary dessert on the house (Beignets) and I thoroughly enjoyed those as well!
