I got my hair done here. I was a little upset because it took them 6 hours to do medium waist length knotless braids. But the ladies who did my hair was nice and it was very neat. The size of the braids were a little boney but I added boho feather curls for extra body. I do recommend this place but if the ay 2 hours in and out they should stick to it. They are very busy but my wait wasn't too long. The are very hospitable the give you water, coffee, tea, and popcorn. Which is nice. I would definitely come back. Let's just say, it wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't good. Even with the notorious reputation, I went with my sister because we were desperate. First, the parking situation sucks. I don't understand how such a big building has such few parking spaces. We had to sit in the parking lot and wait for someone to leave so we could take their spot. We came on 7/3, so it was busier than usual. However, there is clearly never enough parking if they have to constantly tell people not to park in other businesses' lots. Of course, that's not something Nadine can control, but maybe when they move to an even bigger building, they'll take parking into consideration. We got a wash and shampoo. The wash was okay. My hair was definitely cleansed, but they do not know how to detangle or brush/comb out hair. You need to start from the ends with a wide tooth comb and work your way up. Not just rip through it. Getting that brush through my hair was torture. Then the blow drying was so rough I almost offered to do it myself. I left the chair with my hair still damp at the base. It was dry at the top, but that was basically it. When I actually got my hair done, 2 people could not figure out how to part my hair down the middle. I have never in my life seen a braider create a diagonal part for a middle part. My face is not crooked, by the way. They were just guessing. Usually, a braider will stand in front of you, place the rat tail comb at your nose, and go straight up. They did not do that. They were behind me guessing where the middle was and just created a part. I ended up taking the comb and doing it myself. Also, the top of my head is not perfectly aligned, as you can see in the picture. At that point, I was just ready to go. I wear my hair to the side, so this is not a huge issue for me, but for someone else, it would be. I arrived at 9 AM and got out at 2 PM. I got waist length knotless braids. Again, it was a holiday weekend, so it took longer than usual. If you are just looking for a fast place and you do not have an important event, function, or vacation coming up, this may be the place for you. Even with all that said, I would still recommend them to others, WITH MAJOR STIPULATIONS. 1. ARRIVE with your hair washed and blown out. You will regret it if you have them do it for you. 2. ARRIVE with your hair already parted down the middle, or you will probably have to do it yourself when you get there anyway. 3. ARRIVE as humanly early as possible, or you may have to sit in the lot waiting for someone else to leave. ($40 extra between 8 PM and 4 AM) 4. ARRIVE with the understanding that it won't be perfect, but it will be done. 5. ARRIVE with the understanding that you cannot be on your phone the entire time. These are not super experienced braiders with a keen eye who take their time with their work. You will need to keep checking to make sure it's the length you want. Keep checking to make sure the parts are even. Just keep checking their work over and over again. If you are willing to do all that, you'll be fine. Would I go back again? Maybe. So I personally won't be going back here. I stopped in for some quick passion twists. I brought my hair and my gel because whatever they used on my head last time for box braids broke me out terribly. I noticed that they always try to get you to spend at least $200. Anyway this was my second time here, I was called to sit down, showed the Braider the video of what I wanted and explained that I can't have a lot of weight on my neck for medical reasons, it was the crochet method and it had large parts with what I would call medium twists (really all o needed was like 19 twists and I would be great) She told me she didn't know how to do it so they took me back to the front to wait for someone else. No problem, the issue came with the next woman. I showed her the same video and explained that I can't have all the weight and that we were only using 3 packs (the packs had 3 bundles in it )and she said okay. Then talked me out of crochet because it wouldn't last as long. Crochet was like 140-160 or something I believe. I was like hmm ok I'll do it your way. Then she made the parts small. I said well there's only 3 packs of hair and we aren't using more because it was already feeling heavy. This lady buzzed through the 1st of 3 sections that she parted my hair in. It was like telling her to redo it would waste my time honestly because we were moving. She proceeds to tell me that we have one pack of hair and asked if I would be buying more packs. I told her NO. I TOLD HER she was going to have to cut the twists as well because they were too long and heavy, she told me I shouldn't because she felt like it wasn't needed. She asked again about the additional hair, and again, I said NO ! She then told me that she would give me the hair for free. The braids were ok just not what I asked for . I was so overwhelmed I began crying. They do what they want to get their money. They walked around with popcorn and water to offer to people. The music was okay. This hurt me to write. I am really disappointed. I wanted French curls with layers. I called twice before hand to ask if I need if I needed to provide hair. They said no. Cool. Someone warned me about the cleanliness and care for hair. They witness someone clean a comb with pine-sol. When I went back for a second visit I paid attention and sure enough there were concerns. Quick, friendly service and easy payment system with plenty of parking. My installer was good with a simple cornrows to the back and weave cap for weave comfort. Sh did not speak much English so getting to the style and part I wanted took some time. I wanted something natural looking like my hair but protective. We did just that. The second time l went, l requested the same braided. Huge mistake, l wanted crochet and l was charged $180 even though l brought my own hair with me. When l got home, l realized the back of my hair was just badly braided cornrows. There is no crochet hair added to the back of my hair, since l was traveling next morning, l couldn't go back to the store to show what horrible thing this braider did to me. The new space itself is large, clean, and spacious with a comfortable temperature. I also appreciated the scented air pumps throughout. In the old shop, the air was a bit stuffy. I know reviews are VERY mixed, but my overall experiences have been decent. On my second visit today, I got large mid-back Senegalese twists. The parts were neat and even, and my braider was very sweet. Toward the end, I wasn't totally happy with how a few twists in the front were laying, but when I mentioned it to her, she received the feedback well and took the time to redo them without any issue. I received knotless braids, the service was excellent, and my braids lasted about 2 1/2 months. That's exactly why I felt confident bringing my daughter. She requested "smedium" boho braids. We agreed on regular box braids with human hair added for the boho pieces, and the total came to $300. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing. While the box braids themselves looked good, the boho pieces were a major issue. I specifically chose human hair expecting better quality and easier maintenance with proper care. That was not the case. In less than two weeks, the hair became severely tangled and unmanageable to the point that we had to cut the boho pieces out completely. Based on how the hair performed, I have serious concerns about whether it was truly human hair. In addition, the installation of the boho pieces did not appear to be done properly. What's most frustrating is that I had seen similar concerns mentioned in previous reviews but chose to base my decision on my own positive experiences. Unfortunately, I experienced the same issues, which points to a larger quality concern. While they may be efficient and do well with basic braid styles, anything more detailed or requiring additional technique may not meet expectations. My experience started off promising. I arrived minutes after 4 am. This was my first visit as a customer to this location. And then, it went downhill to the tune of five different braiders in my head and still in the chair four hours later for smedium knotless braids. One braiders braids were taken out and redone and the arguments about who would finish or should finish were identifiable even if only in French. The real problem was paying 100 dollars more for my daughter's hair even though we both said synthetic hair and they installed human hair. I would never ask for human hair for her. She doesn't take care of her own hair nevertheless somebody's else's hair. I Asked for a manager to leave my complaint, after I paid. And all I heard were apologies and there was no manager to talk to. As I write, it is after 9 and my daughter's hair is still not done. I will say I am very impressed with how long it took to get my hair done: from entrance to exit I spent 2 1/2 hours in the shop! I love the fact that the business is OPEN 24/7!!! You can literally come anytime a day and get your hair done! (Please know that if you arrive between 7:59 pm and 3:59 am there is a $40 additional night differential, which I think is very fair). I will say that I wish they made my braids fuller and halfway through my hair I started to notice that the braids definitely looked more medium than smedium (which I asked for). Bottom Line: I personally would not go back to Nadine's unless it was a hair emergency. I've had a lot of friends who have spoken very highly of Nadine's so I was excited to give them a try! I went on May 31st (the Saturday before their grand opening) and they were packed. I probably waited about 10 minutes, before I was seated in a chair. I explained to the braider the style I wanted, which was just 6 stitch braids with a few boho pieces crocheted in. I showed her a reference photo and she said she could do it. Needless to say, my hair DID NOT turn out like the photo. I asked for stitch braids and there were no stitches in my stitch braids. Also, for the first half of my service, I was sitting in a seat with no mirror in front of it, so I couldn't even see that she was not stitching my braids. When I did see half of my head, I told her I would like the stitches more defined. The braider said okay and proceeded to finish my head the same way she did before. Also, my braids did not last! See the pictures attached. After 2 days they looked about a week old. After a week in - well you can see the pictures, they look like they've been in for a month. I am also very good about braid maintenance (tying them down when si sleep, wearing a bonnet, using mouse to help refresh, etc). I've come to Nadine's for years - before the new location. Just went yesterday and the woman who did my hair did an excellent job (cornrow style with beads). The new location is really nice and spacious. Pros: quick in and out, especially if you can come during work hours. I haven't had a negative styling experience here... I know others have. The suites were chocked full of braiders (many from Cameroon) & customers. The Good: -Two Braiders were assigned to me -They are fast. My "Medium"Senegalese twists were completed in 2.5 hours. -My twists including the parts are neat. The Bad: -Braiders' ability, attention to detail, & quality vary greatly. -Before starting my hair, one braider went thru all the possible upcharges (after the front desk discussed fees at length) if I want knotless, or small twists, or boho, etc. -Braider grabbed large rectangular chunks of my hair to braid & finish faster -The shop has a time limit (I think 24 hours) on how long you have to raise concerns about your hair but does not provide mirrors to inspect The Ugly: -Aggressive male employee randomly made 20+ women (braiders & customers) evacuate the suite to clean. -Braider strongly disagreed when I told her that my twists were too big -Braider refused to use less hair in each twist to achieve the style I wanted I've been getting my hair braided or twisted my entire life. After conferring with another woman, the braider told me it would be $100. Fine. I agreed. They took the girls to the back right away--but then let them sit there for over 30 minutes before even starting. Strike one. The real disaster? The braiding itself. The braids were done so tight that my niece's scalp literally wrinkled. She regularly wears braids and has never had this reaction. That level of tension isn't just sloppy--it's negligent. But the final insult? The price. At checkout, the total came to $285. Let that sink in. When I questioned it, the cashier refused to explain anything. Finally, the braider stepped in and told me there were "additional fees"--$40 per child for a night surcharge and a $5 credit card fee. Mind you, I was never informed of any surcharge upfront, and they were already well aware it was a midnight appointment. The credit card fee was tacked on before I was even asked how I'd be paying. I had to make this review. I was blown away with the service I received. I will admit I was nervous and not sure what to expect. I arrived around 5:30 in the evening and was out the door by 8pm. I got my hair braided at Nadine's on June 13, spending over $300 for the service and nearly $400 on high-quality human hair. From the start, the install was just okay, not great, but I let it go. Within three weeks, the braids were unraveling, slipping, and in some cases, glued back together with super glue. When I returned to the salon at the owner's request I was only prepared to get 2 rows of hair redone however I was told the style couldn't be salvaged by the manager handling the ordeal. The stylists who took my braids down openly commented to each other (and to me) about how bad the original install was and how it was "messed up." Despite admitting fault, they threw my human hair on the floor, told me I'd have to pay full price for a redo, and ultimately refused to take accountability. The dismissive attitude I experienced from both the staff and the front desk host was unprofessional and disappointing. I contacted the owner directly after the appointment no response. Not even an acknowledgment. Whether it's 3 days or 3 weeks, this is about the quality of service, the loss of expensive materials, and the complete lack of communication or ownership from the salon. I arrived around 4:00pm and the I was finally taken to the back to be blown out and braided around 4:20 when I arrived at the back I was told they had any color upon learning this I told them what I wanted.Around 5 minutes later she comes back with a color not even remotely similar (I had asked for a nude pink and she came back with a dark orange) thinking it was a mistake I politely expressed to her that that was not what I asked for and she walks away and starts to do another clients hair while I speak with another hair stylist (who was currently doing someones hair). So I too saw the viral video of a woman who went into labor while at this establishment, and four women did her hair expeditiously, so I was intrigued as I was expecting myself. However, my appointment had to wait until I was postpartum. After reading the reviews, I knew not to have any expectations, not to bring an inspiration picture, and 9 times out of 10 I would've had knotless feed and braids, which I was fine with. To expect a smell and to bring snacks. REMEMBER mind over matter!! First timers need to understand that there are three store fronts and the cashier where you check in is the main storefront and I think there is one bathroom per storefront. Is it crowded, YES. I believe the straight ends are the "100% hair" that is suppose to curl but did not. I am also not sure if this is human hair or not. My parts are straight and align with the natural curve of my head. (Sorry to those that didn't have this experience) The hot water is made in a corner with electric kettles and the water is sometimes reused. Meaning Heated water is taking to dipped someone's braids then put back into a kettle. I STRONGLY SUGGEST blow drying your own hair. The young lady next to me getting her hair re-dried was in utter distress getting her coils blown out. MY EXPERIENCE was as followed: Arrived at 1314, Seated in a chair in the third store front that's painted purple. After prepping (color matching hair, separating, and parting) and a bathroom break the first braid was started at 1348 The last braid was started at 1541 My first braider left 1601, I thought she left to get more curly hair or her hot water. She did neither I did not see her until I paid in the main store front My second braider continued her last section then rolled my ends onto a roller before getting the hot water.. dipped and sprayed me down before doing her last snipps of loose strands I was in front of Ms Nadine to pay at 1649 I think I could have been out sooner had they communicated towards the end of the process. I was in dire need of getting my hair braided, and this viral braiding salon was just what I needed. And get this, it's open 24 hours! Thank goodness for Instagram, because I was able to call and confirm that I could come in at 7:30 to get medium knotless braids. Even though it was my first time, the process was a breeze. I accidentally went into the wrong section of the salon, but a stylist quickly pointed me in the right direction. Before I knew it, I was in the chair with two stylists working on my hair. Betsy was incredible - she worked so efficiently and neatly on my sides. I was so impressed that I gave her a generous tip. This salon is also conveniently located close to my home, which is a huge plus. I'm a simple person and don't like to sit for more than 4-5 hours for any style, so I'm grateful for this amazing opportunity! read more

There is absolutely no appointments taken because you can walk in and out in no time. There is almost 100 braiders in the 4 buildings here. Once you arrive, you check in with the person at the front. She calls the next available braider. Then you stand and wait to be escorted by your braider back to the bldg she's braiding in. Now this is where it gets tricky because there are ppl everywhere. No stations just spots. There is security on site and I wouldn't try him if I were you! It took my daughter a while to get started because there weren't many braiders that could do the style or maybe didn't want to. It was a complicated process but she was only there for about 3-4 hours. It was waist length so it was no easy task. She had two braiders. I suggest wearing a mask if you have a low immune system or concerned about COVID/Cold or the Flu. It's super busy but these stylists work endlessly. They all wear purple to distinguish who's who. Very smart concept, I would recommend if you're looking for braiding place that doesn't require an appointment, deposit or the long tedious hours to get finished. It's pricey but you pay for what you get. Parking- plentiful but it gets filled fast. I finally tried the viral hair braiding spot! I've been looking at this place for a while, but honestly because of bad Yelp and Google reviews I was skeptical and many of the pics I saw attached to the reviews, ppls braids and parts looked horrible. I wondered if the hype about the 2 - 3 hour styles was due to sloppy work. I have 3 friends who tried and got to see their hair up close so I gave it a try and I'm glad I did. I got there at 415, sat right away, they started around 435 and I was out the door, serviced, took bathroom break, and paid and was out by 715. Mind you, I have very thick, dense hair. Only 2 people on my head, but one person did the front and someone else did the back. I'm pregnant and knew I could not sit for a long time. As someone who usually sits 4 plus and even 8 hours to get similar braids I was delighted to be able to be in and out. This is a standard African gallery braid shop. It's crowded, and loud, there music playing, there's no frills. If you can manage that environment you will be fine! read more

I visited Nadine's like many others based on their viral tik toks. I've watched many videos and stalked the IG page before I was ready to give the braiding salon a try. There is so much variation when you read through or view individual experiences since the shop has gone viral. Here's my take, I been getting my hair braiding for nearly 25 years. In comparison to other African Braiding shops the experience at Nadine's is no different than other shops (take that for what it's worth). The difference here is the speed at which the braiders work. I have spent as much as 12 hours in the past for braids and my visit at Nadine's was under 3 hours. It was the most gentle braiding experience I've ever had. It's day three and my hair is already up in a bun with absolutely no pain. Also, I am allergic to braiding hair but haven't experienced the itchy/scabby scalp as of yet. There is definitely room for business improvements. Because there are so many braiders and clients the shop is extremely cluttered and covered in braiding hair. And having to go between two buildings to start/finish my hair is less than ideal. I couldn't imagine in the Winter walking outside from one building to the other like I was asked during my Summertime visit. It would be nice if the shop was lightly cleaned/swept on the hour. With so much traffic this small update could make such a valuable difference. Also, I asked for boho but my braider did straight knotless. I just figured the universe was trying to save me from the weeks of tangles :). And I wanted a blend but wasn't about to hassle over pricing to achieve a color similar to my actual hair color so I opted for one color. I'm pleased with my hair, but will say I think my main braider was "learning" the ropes. Thankfully, she was assisted by a seasoned braider who probably braider at twice the speed of main braider. I would definitely return based on the speed of work provided. However, I can't confidently recommend others try unless they are familiar with this type of shop and have properly set their expectations. read more

This is BY FAR the most DEPLORABLE service (or lack thereof) that I have ever experienced. NEVER AGAIN! Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. Sounds like Nadine's has scaled too fast and was not prepared for the demand created by her publicity efforts on the new location opening. I am a customer who visited the previous location many times (and even brought my mother who came from Florida) in the past and don't recall any major issues. Based off today's experience, I likely will NEVER return to this salon. There are hundreds of salons that I bypass on my drive from Virginia and I came here specifically to support. I arrived at the salon at 6:29pm on the dot. When I walked in, the waiting area was incredibly crowded and the receptionist was directing people to check in. She asked me to check in at the computer screen up front and it was malfunctioning. I went up to her multiple times to inform her that it wasn't working. Rather than attempt to help reset it, she just accepted it wasn't working and remained at her station. In the meantime, I was sitting waiting without being officially checked in. Finally, another lady came up and reset the machine, allowing others who arrived later than me to check in before i got the chance to check in. I was asked what service I wanted and I responded "small knotless braids". Several stylists became available all refused to service me because "they were tired". This was verbalized by Stanella (receptionist) when I went up to ask what the hold up was. I informed her I drove an hour from Virginia to get to the salon and had now been waiting over an hour (at the time). In the meantime, while waiting, there are no offers for refreshments (at least water) for customers who have been waiting for almost two hours for service. Stanella finally called me to alert me that there was a stylist ready for me. The stylist had me follow her through the salon and up the staircase in the back. She finally asked me what I was getting, I again said "small knotless". She asked "what length"? I told her waist length to which she responded that she doesn't do small braids, she only does medium and large. I asked why she made me walk up the stairs and follow her only to refuse my service, she has no comprehensible response. I walked back to the receptionist area to talk to Stanella, and ask why I was sent with someone who wouldn't do my style. At this point, I was fed up. I told Stanella that the service was PITIFUL! I drove an hour, waited for two hours and was not provided service. I watched many people who arrived after me receive service. IF you are unable to provide service for small knotless braids, please remove it from your advertised services. If your stylists will refuse to do it, remove it from your services. This is BY FAR the most DEPLORABLE service (or lack thereof) that I have ever experienced. NEVER AGAIN!
