Not sure why I think this place will improve when they don't. Nails are rushed, I wanted a relaxing pedicure and it was a rush that wasn't enjoyable. It was rough, they burned me with the towel and clipped my skin multiple times to the point I flinched a few different occasions. They also try to push you into getting more than you ask for. Definitely the last time, this place has gone down hill and it used to be my go to for years. My whole pedicure was 25 minutes max and than polish all over my skin from a rushed manicure. read more

I had my hesitations going here but a friend convinced me otherwise. Solid manicure and pedicure and not insanely priced. What I love most is that this is after one week. I had Angela as my nail tech and she recognized that my nail bed had a lot of ridges and suggested an additional protective base layer. Usually that causes my polish to peel off because of the thickness but not the case this time! She was very patient when I kept changing my mind on the color and she asked me along the way if I was happy with her work. I love that! She also Gave me a deluxe pedicure which came out perfect but I'm not posting a photo of my feet ;-) I've heard Michael is also excellent. I took away one star because their appointment "system" really doesn't seem to work and it upset a couple of people who had appointments but had to wait because they took many walk-ins. I have come here about three times for a gel manicure and I have had a good experience each time, although I've seen the same person. My gel manicure lasts two weeks which is a good amount of time for me. They have a lot of colors, so if you're wondering about whether they will have a specific shade, they probably do! I see Thuy here, and she is awesome! She's great at what she does, and I love going in to catch up with her. The other employees smile and generally seem friendly. Mom and I were looking to get Manicures around the Holly Springs area and decided to check out Nail 1st. We walked in when they first opened and, luckily, they were able to fit us in! After debating a nail polish color for way too long, we were seated beside each other for our service. I thought that the overall experience was good but the polishing of the nails was not the best that I have received before. In the end I would return, a $13 manicure is a great deal! I want to leave a good review, I really do. The review would've been great- until it was ruined halfway through my appointment. I sit down in her chair and she asks if I have a reference photo and I do, so I show her. I tell her I'm going on vacation so these nails are super important to me. She says it's doable (fun designs) and she starts on my nails. She's doing great, they're looking awesome. She starts on my 6th nail and then stops to tell me my full set acrylics are going to be $170. I was taken aback, regardless of the fact that in all my years of getting my nails done and they've NEVER cost that much money, I couldn't believe she waited until she was over halfway done to tell me my service was going to be almost $200!! I started getting noticeably angry but politely told her that's really something she should state at the beginning of service because had I known, I would've chosen something different. She nervously laughs and says sorry and asks me what I'd like to do. I asked her to finish the last nail she started- I ended up leaving with SIX fingernails done and I was charged $123. She automatically pressed no tip herself, I don't know if that was her way of trying to fix it but I would've rather left with all ten fingers done. She was incredibly talented and I'm disappointed that I feel the need to leave a bad review. I want to go back but not after that situation and those prices. $200 for nails is just absurd and waiting halfway through a service to tell someone that and letting them leave with half ass nails is even more absurd. read more

I went in for a pedicure ( with an appointment). I was rushed through my pedicure that was supposed to cost $30 but when checking out it was $45 because I got gel polish. My boyfriend and I were visiting from NY and we wanted to have a little spa day. I made appointments the same day and they took us right away. We went in for pedicures, him a manicure and for me a gel manicure. While getting our pedicures, they were both very attentive. The foot massages were amazing. While getting our manicures, my nail technician Tee, suggested the SNS powder dip and I am so happy I agreed. She took her time and my nails came out perfect. They also lasted a whole month. They have always been friendly here and service is fast which I really appreciate!! Today, I came in after they closed - Yelp has them closing at 6:00 on Sunday but they actually close at 5:00. I didn't even mention Yelp and they took me at 5:30 no questions ask. They have always done a great job and have plenty of people working and plenty of customers so they are obviously doing something right. Very disappointed I was a walk-in so I understand having to wait. I would have appreciated knowing it would be over an hour wait. They sat me in a chair and I was still soaking after 45 minutes. No one approached me and finally I asked to leave at the hour mark. If they were honest I may have waited or come back later. I love this salon. I've been going here for years. All the ladies are very kind and talented. I sometimes bring my toddler with me and they are so sweet with him. They've even painted his nails. I love the dip gel powder, it's all I get now. They've recently upgraded the decor and chairs and the place looks great and is kept very clean. This is my local nail salon. Not sure why the low reviews. It's clean, fast, and courteous. There is never really a wait as they have plenty of technicians. About a year ago they remodeled the salon and there are all new pedicure chairs and manicure stations. The pedicure chairs are very modern/nice with comfy leather, built in USB charging for your phone or tablet and a little hook to hang your purse on plus a cup holder. The massage is nice and quiet and the controls are not worn out like other salons. They also put a plastic liner in the pedicure foot tub for hygienic reasons which I appreciate. The technicians also wear rubber gloves. Costs are reasonable too. $25 for basic pedicure and $30 for a deluxe. I come here fairly often to get pedicures and have had a few manicures. I called before I went in today and they said that I could just come right in. When I got there it was busy but they sat me right done. I went to get my nails done here two days ago. I got SNS, which normally stays on very well. In order for me to have it replaced I have to soak my nails for 15 min or so in acetone. Well this place not only ruined my nails by filing them down too much (causing them to now be painfully paper thin, which has never happens to me before) but the SNS is fully popping off. I went back today and had one fixed (which she attempted to file my nails again. I refused and she told me the SNS wouldn't stick if she didn't make mail nails rough. Mind you I can't even touch my bare nails without pain now). No sooner did I leave did I have another nail popped completely off. I never write bad reviews...but this place truly earned it. I walked in around 4:30 today (Sunday) and was quickly seated (with my eight year old daughter in tow) who was also given a seat next to me. A gentleman (I didn't catch his name) started my pedicure and gave me the greatest foot/leg massage I've had in a while. Lisa took over the shaping/polishing portion and she was just the sweetest person. Not only was she very nice, but she did a beautiful job on my nails. I've been going here for a few years for simple polish changes, occasionally a pedicure. Today I decided to try Dip polish. It was a Sunday, they were busy, my tech was in a hurry. She cut my cuticle with the electric file. She then told me she didn't cut me. It was small but it hurt very badly. She just never acknowledged it. I then paid full price for the treatment. When I decided to tell a manager she told me she couldn't see the cut and I wasn't bleeding. I acknowledge it was small but it hurt terrible. I am not one to write a bad review but i think this was my WORST experience ever at a nail salon. I call about having a dip manicure done and they told me to walk in since it wasn't busy.. Then I walk into the store, I waited patiently for 15 minutes. Finally, I get sat and the lady had started taking my nail polish off and did my eyebrows.. I have my Nail polish not even fully taken off and the lady just gets up and tells me "Oh.. Sorry I have a customer" then just leaves me sitting there for over 20 minutes while she attends to someone else. I waited and asked around... For the last four years I have gone in every two weeks for a gel manicure & pedicure and they did a great job. This morning during my appointment (which I booked ahead of time) I took approximately 2 extra minutes (literally) picking out holiday colors for my nails. When the owner snapped at me. This is the conversation between her and myself... Owner: "You need to hurry up and pick a color. She has another appointment and you're taking too long!" Me: "Why would you talk to me like that? That is not polite! Is that how you treat your customers?" Owner: "She told me in Vietnamese that you're giving her a hard time!" Me: "I'm not giving her a hard time. I'm always kind and think she does a great job. I was just picking out a color. You are being so rude to me!" Owner: "If you don't like it, you can leave!" Me: "I've been your customer for years, I can't believe you'd treat me like this?!" Owner: "Stop talking to me! You don't have to come here!" The owner told my nail technician not to charge me. I paid anyway and left a tip. But I won't be returning. I ALWAYS treat people kindly and with respect and was shocked and saddened at how badly the owner treated me. read more

I have been going here on an off for 15 years. I got a dip manicure on Saturday and by Saturday night it has completely peeled off. I paid $70 with tip. When I went back to the salon on Monday to ask them to fix before I went on a week long business trip I was told they were too busy and I would need to make an appointment. I told them I would wait a little while the owner, Lisa, again let me know that they could not interrupt their current client's service to fix my nails. After getting nowhere I finally asked her to either refund my money so I could go elsewhere or give me a certificate for a future service (that I will surely gift away). I have spent $1,000's here over 15 years and because I'm not a paying customer they ask me to make an appointment after never ever asking me to make one before. Very disappointed. We called and made appointments for 3 pedicures and 1 manicure. I made appointments so that we could all get our nails done at the same time and sit next to each other for the pedicures. Neither of these things happened. Staff was very rude about the situation, even got loud with my friend for asking if it was possible to get at least 2 pedicure chairs next to each other. My pedicure took forever because the guy doing it kept looking at the front door, the drying station, the back, anywhere but at what he was doing. He also has zero hand strength- when I get my feet done I want smooth feet! It was like he couldn't hold the file firm enough. Not only was the customer service terrible but the services were subpar as well. 3 out of the 4 of us left with smudged nails. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else but if you must go make sure you avoid the guy with a combover if you need your nails done correctly and timely. read more

I recently just went to this nail salon and was very hesitant seeing as the first time I went my acrylic nails were done horribly, with bumps and polish everywhere. This time I went in to get my acrylics removed and a gel manicure. After my manicurist popped off my acrylics, and ended up ripping the underneath part of my nail, she began the gel manicure and ripped out two of my fingers cuticles so deep that I was bleeding. She then painted my nails and got nail polish all over as well as the top, clear coat. I did not realize until I paid and left that one of my fingers polish was already coming off and now I can do nothing about it. I will never be returning and you should not go. read more

I was in last Monday (6/18/18) for a birthday pedicure treat for myself. They were busy with pedicures and unfortunately the tech I got was an older man. I've had him once before and I was hoping not to get him this time. He doesn't cut the cuticle. He clipped my pinky toe nails so short that I can't even see them (I have very small toe nails). Then, the owner came over to polish, do a quick cuticle check. When I got home, I noticed that one of my nails is cut crooked. I've been going here for about 5 years. I've had a few bad trips but haven't said much until now. I also went one time and got a manicure. The girl asked me if I wanted gel polish. I asked her 3 times how I would take it off since I didn't know anything about gel polish. Well she never answered and then I found out that its not just a polish you can take off. My 2 daughters and I have been going here for 5+ yrs. and they usually do a decent job. Today they were very busy and rushing. I simply asked my nail tech to fix a nail where the polish was all over my skin. It was the owner and she started mumbling and then said you are never happy... she carried on repeating this to the point of embarrassing me. I went in for a pedicure and I promise my 8 year old could have done a better job. I went with the deluxe only because it's the first option that offers callous treatment. I prefer not to do the salt rub and cool gel but I wanted the callous treatment. The tech literally said two words to me so I explained what I wanted. She nodded and then proceeded to do exactly the opposite. She cut my nails completely uneven and I thought she would use a file to shape them but I was wrong. My nails look like the weeks in between services when I attack them because they are talons and I can't get in. The polish was dull and didn't not cover the nail. She rushed through the entire process and did a sub par job. I realize they do this all day long but for me it's a treat and it's a cost that has to be budgeted. For years, my friends, my husband and I have been getting our nails done at this location. It has been remarkable every time we have visited. It is always BUSY which says a ton about the quality of the services provided here The young ladies that work there are exceptional technicians and are hard workers with good hearts. There is a recent post about a technician cutting someone's cuticle. I was there when it happened. To check to see if a cuticle has been cut, the owner used a cotton pad to check for blood where the woman said her cuticle was cut. The wound was also not visible. Lack of blood and lack of visibility are the only ways to determine if this did indeed occur. To say a cuticle cut "hurt very badly" and "it hurt terrible" is surely an exaggeration. If it was childbirth, cancer or broken bones, yes "hurt very badly" is an honest reflection of the pain. The person who wrote the negative review also whined about the wait time when she arrived. The staff at Nails 1st quickly gave her a seat at a technician's table where she then complained that the technician next to her was filing down someone's nails and that it disturbed her. What really made me feel moved to write this review is that this person used the following line while talking to the owner, "I guess you want another negative Yelp review then?" I am not the owner, but what she said it felt like blackmail to me. I felt she was using a negative Yelp review as a way to get out of paying for her nail service. Please don't judge this business by a person who has not given one positive review on a local nail salon. BTW she did come in with a lovely charming lady that had her services performed with no drama. Let's be real, complaints like this are first world problems. People in third world countries such as Vietnam (where these workers are from) are sick, starving and dying and we spend time complaining about gel manicures and cut cuticles. read more
