In a nut shell-- this salon def talks shit about you in Vietnamese. I am FLUENT in Vietnamese. I speak it almost as well as I speak English. They are VERY nice to your face but also call you names in Vietnamese to their coworkers in literally the same breath, with a smile on their face. I have never been so disappointed in my life. As a proud ass Vietnamese girl, I ALWAYS spoke out against people who said "I bet they talk shit about you in vietnamese at nail shops"...I'd always tell people that they're just talking about their lives and gossip about their own personal lives. My nail shop in San Jose NEVER ONCE EVER have I EVER heard them say ANYTHING about any of their customers! And it was in the rough side of town so there were some very rude and ill mannered customers. Today I was sitting with my sister in law who was getting a pedicure and I heard the curly haired nail tech and older gentleman call her "mat day" which literally translates to "ill mannered" but really it's used as "asshole" because my sister in law wanted them to cut her toe nails for the pedicure. I don't give a shit if you misunderstood her or she misunderstood you, you don't openly say that in front of customers and perpetuate the stereotype that Vietnamese nail salons talk about you in Vietnamese. After she confronted the lady about it, she denied it and then came over to another worker and called my sister in law "mat day" again in front of my face, knowing that I speak Vietnamese. When I left to wash my hands, I came back and heard the nail tech sitting next to the station at mine saying "she's Vietnamese" so I looked right at him and said in Vietnamese "yes I speak and understand Vietnamese, and I understood everything that lady said about my sister in law. To me THATS "mat day"". I'm pretty sure I said that to the owner and he didn't even apologize. That's terrible, TERRIBLE customer service. So essentially, don't visit this place if you think that Vietnamese nail shops talk shit about you...because this one definitely does. I am SO DISAPPOINTED and embarrassed in my fellow Vietnamese that I could cry. I don't care what you say in privacy to your coworkers, but never say that in front of a customers face. read more

The employees here were able to fit us in on very short notice, all while making us feel very welcome. I found the prices very fair on top of receiving a great pedicure. Very happy we found this nail salon and will definitely be returning. read more

A great place to go. Took me a few tries to find the right salon but I think I finally found it. Pretty good price, and great service. Ask for Tina. My only complaint is don't come during busy times because even if you have an appointment for that time they have to bounce between customers when busy so they don't do as good a job. But other than that they did a great job and I will be going back. read more

Must of caught them on an off day or had a lady who was new. One star for the decent pedicure, my mani was terrible. Took her over 30 minutes to get gel polish off, I should have known. Then my nails were cut and filed unevenly. I told her just to use regular polish because she was still struggling with removing the gel. She said the polish was very strong. I usually go to Nail Zone, they're awesome and get gel off within minutes. She just kept scraping my nails instead of using the little roller machine. Someone else came and painted my nails. I showed them before I left there were bumps under the paint, probably the gel she couldn't get off, and how uneven my nails were. They gave me a goodie bag with the paper flip-flops, buffer, and nail file. That definitely did not make up for the sloppy manicure. The pictures on here look good though. read more

I'm updating my review as I had a less than pleasant experience during my last appointment. Tina still does an amazing job, but after previously telling her that I did not care for the way one of the techs did my pedi, she tried to have that tech do my pedi again. When I asked for her or someone else to do it, she did it but seemed less than pleased that I complained. After being a loyal customer, bringing other people in with me and trying to be accommodating whenever she wanted to change my appointment time, I don't think I was out of line by telling her I wasn't happy with one tech. At first the service was great, but after becoming an established customer, it didn't seem important keep me happy, so I won't be returning. I wish them the best of luck going forward. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Nail Star. It's always hard to find a good salon and I tried this one after reading positive reviews and the other plus is it's so close to my home. I am pretty simple when it comes to my nails... gel mani and gel pedi but I appreciate a salon that takes their time and wants you to have a great experience no matter what. Tina the owner is so nice and lovely to work with. You can tell she really cares for her customers and wants you to have the best experience. She recommended Chau (pronounced Joe) for me who did both my mani and pedi and I would definitely go back to her again. She took her time and gives a great massage! The staff was really friendly and we were in and out within the hour. I hate my pedicure and will not come back. My feet are sore, because she nicked me more than once. Also, I could barely feel that she had even scrubbed or massages my feet or legs and her polishing is not good. I had an older women.... I could've saved my money and did my feet my self. I was looking for a nail salon that could get me in today and came across Nail Star on yelp. I gave them a call to see how busy they were and I was told to come right in. As soon as I got there I was greeted and asked to pick a color. I was able to jump right into getting my pedicure. It was so relaxing and the lady who worked on me was so nice and amazing. Towards the end of the pedicure, I spoke to her about what kind of manicure I should get. I told them my needs and they were able to help me pick out the best manicure to make sure my nails would be looking great all week. I really enjoyed my time there. It was very relaxing and everyone was so nice. The shop owner came by to introduce herself and see if needed anything or if everything was up to my expectations. I will definitely come back. Was a walk in and though I had to wait roughly 40 min the staff was extremely apologetic for the wait and made sure I was fine till I was seated. I had a gel manicure and a pedicure and the woman who did it for me was very kind and did a fabulous job on both my feet which were pretty beat up and my hands which hadn't been done in months. I couldn't have asked for a better job. The facility was very clean and was given water to drink while I had my nails and toes done.
