I went in to get a simple full set. Which I'm pretty sure they are not supposed to be open anyways. I don't remember the lady's name but she completely botched my nails and after I expressed to her what was wrong she tried to blame it on the polish. She then took the polish off and sat me with someone else to fix them. Still could not accommodate or fix what was wrong. Their work is sloppy and the shop is low maintenance. I was particularly put off by their blatant racist behavior. I noticed they frown upon black people and do not provide adequate customer service, but accommodate their white patrons. Their behavior leads me to believe they don't want blacks in this area so they purposely mistreat us so we won't come back. One thing's for sure, I won't be back BUT I will use my voice. Also, the smell was bothersome - I noticed no ventilation and the shop owners smoke cigarettes and that smell permeates the salon. It's sad in 2022 businesses like this still operate. You'd think after all that happened in 2020, equality would be a no-brainer to business owners. I don't like giving negative reviews like this but THIS HAS TO STOP. There should be no tolerance for racism in any place of business. This is grounds for a lawsuit and closure. Racism is a disease. Did not leave very happy. I've been to a lot of nail salons in the Kansas City area and went to this one today as it was the only one open and that could get me in when I called, now I can see why. Left the salon with polish all over my hands that wasn't cared to clean off. My nails were very long before as I have spent time caring for them to get the length I had. I was asked if I wanted them cut shorter and I stated "a little bit", and then my entire nail was cut to the skin as you can see in the photos. The drimmel was also slipped multiple times so it's a miracle my skin wasn't bleeding. The light pink color is extremely see through and spent over an hour in the salon. $40 does not seem worth it for what I got. They seemed nice, but I'm left with see through nails and 1/4 of the nail length I walked in with. Was not asked what nail shape I wanted (was just assumed, and after color application was not asked if I was okay with the color). Seems like they give good pedicures by watching the others in the salon getting one, but I'd go somewhere else for a manicure. read more

I've been to Nail Stop twice for pedicures with friends. It looks like a great place for groups since they have at least 10 pedicure spas and 4 (maybe 6 - I can't remember) manicure stations. However, when we appeared as walk-ins on a Saturday around 11:00 am, there were only four nail technicians working. One was already with a client, so there were three technicians left to give four pedicures. They have several pedicure packages, and I tried the deluxe on my first visit and the citrus on my second. Both were amazing! Both pedicures start out with a quick foot soak, polish removal, nail and cuticle trimming, and callus filing. They probably could spend more time on callus filing, but they did cover the entire foot and seem like they would spend more time on it if you asked them to. The deluxe has a nice sugar scrub with a little exfoliation massage, and then a warm lotion was applied, covered in plastic, and then hot towels. This is a great pedicure anytime, but especially in the winter when it's cold outside! The citrus spa pedicure has a citrus smelling sugar scrub, followed by a cool lotion that tingles. Love the citrus pedicure for that reason! Lotion is then massaged into your skin, and your color of choice is applied. They also do beautiful designs if you ask. Staff is super friendly! They usually ask at some point if you would like a bottle of water, and it is chilled. It doesn't take very many visits for them to recognize you and be excited about having repeat business. The salon is very clean and up to date, so I've always been surprised to go in between 11:00 am and 12:30 pm on a Saturday and not have to wait for a service. They also do waxing there, and they used to do eyebrow threading, but the last time I was in they said the technician who did that was no longer with them. Overall, this is a great place to spend an hour relaxing and getting a beautiful pedicure. I will be returning many times. read more

I went to this place because it was closed to were I live and I didn't feel like driving up north to where I usually go. Big mistake! I asked for a black French tip with the dip polish. I have gotten many different French dips at my other salon so thought this wouldn't be a problem. Well it was... First she only put one coat of the French tip so they are a bit see through. My other salon they do at least 2 maybe 3 to make sure your natural nail doesn't show through. Then the tips are are not consistent at all. Some are thick some are thin! Does not look professional what so ever! And finally the black bleeds on to the bed of the nail where it's supposed to be clear/pink. I will never be goin here again unfortunately. They kept making excuses because the black is hard to work with but at my nail salon I've been too it's never been a problem! They refunded my money only when I had asked several times to give me at least half of my money back. Please save your money and go somewhere else that's worth it!! read more

I have been coming here for the past 2 years and I have never had a bad experience. I stopped in about 2 weeks ago for my usual gel mani/spa pedi and my nails still look good as new, which is a relief bc I've gotten gel at other places before and it usually peeled by the end of the week. The staff, including the owner Leanne, always makes me feel welcome & well taken care of. Ive never had to wait long and they don't rush through my services to get me out the door. I should have gotten the idea when the lady next to me repeatedly asked the same question and the nail tech completely ignored her because she couldn't speak English. She should have at least made an attempt to understand what she was asking. So I stayed thinking all I needed was my shellac polish removed. It took the girl nearly an hour and in the process she ruined my nails. To top it off they charged me $25. I could have gotten my shellac removed and a new shellac manicure for $30 at my regular places. Let's just say I have learned my lesson. read more

Nail Stop is a great place for a decent, affordable mani/pedi. I typically frequent Polished downtown for proximity to my home and the atmosphere/wine they provide, but a friend and I will occasionally go to Nail Stop to save a few $$. The quality of the mani/pedi is pretty good and certainly comparable to Polished, but this place runs leav on techs and leaves a little to be desired in terms of ambience. This is not to say that it isn't nice, it just lacks the "polish" of Polished :-) All in all, a great place to go in North KC for a solid mani/pedi without breaking the bank! read more

Hands down the worst nail experience I have ever had. I have been here a handful of times and have had both good and bad experiences. My most recent experience (last week) was absolutely horrid and I will never be back. I came in with shellac already on my nails and instead of them soaking it right away with acetone, she sat me down and proceeded to pull out the electric spinning nail file. I should have immediately stopped her, but she is supposed to be a professional and I gave it a shot. She was sloppy and instead of taking of the top layer of the shellac, I could see bare nail in some areas. She finally got out the acetone and soaked my first hand and started grinding at the next. same story. At this point my first hand had been soaking for maybe a minute and she switched back to grinding at it. The acetone didn't even get a chance to take off the polish. What remained were some rough, thin, destroyed nails that I was told to go wash at the sink. I was horrified. I have long, healthy, nails that I keep manicured regularly, and they were now sad, brittle, and would take months to regrow. I was getting gel put back on so I was hoping that that would help even them out and keep them strong for the next few weeks. I picked out this lovely purple shade for spring and she began the polish application. This was the result... An uneven, blotchy, excuse of a manicure that you could literally see through! She used excuses like, "Some polishes are thinner than others, I put on 3 coats." No, you are supposed to be a professional nail salon. If your polish is bad, throw it away and redo my color. I paid $30 for this excuse of a service. Never walk into this salon unless you want to walk out with a manicure that your 5 year old could have given. read more

This is a nail salon in a nice location. I was visiting family from out of town. I found this salon based on reviews. After being seated, I was asked which pedicure I wanted. I told the nail technician I wanted the basic pedicure on the list provided called the natural pedicure. I told her twice. It was listed as $15. The next one, at $25, included a salt scrub. (I didn't receive a salt scrub.) The pedicure was good. When it was time to pay, i gave her a $5 tip in cash before paying the bill by credit card. That was my mistake. I've been here 3 times for mani/pedis. It is clean and the employees are all friendly. Two of the three times though, i went in with my fingernails "natural" and the length was fairly long... the tip of the nail extended past the skin on the tip of my finger. Both of those times they filed my nails down to the quick!!! I had NO nails left - one finger even bled where she filed the nail down so far. This last time, after she'd filed my nail down to nothing, she then painted the french tip color on - and it was almost 1/4 inch thick - it looked bizarre - like a child had done it! The color painted on my toes was clumpy and uneven when they were done. Perhaps I'm just not on the same page with them as to what looks good? I decided to stop in on my lunch hour for a pedicure before vacation. The pedicure left quite a bit to be desired. The tech didn't cut my toenails, and made a haphazard attempt at filing and shaping (I fixed when I got home from work). They did the customary push for me to get a higher priced service and additional services. What made this frustrating was that the tech spoke NO English. Hence this turned into a game of charades. I will agree with the earlier review that the foot scrub needed to be buffed (pun intended) up. I still have a lot of rough patches on the bottom of my feet. And no, they didn't start out looking like the underside of a trolls feet...pretty typical winter wear. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend Nail Stop. Since they are relatively new to the Northland landscape, I feel like they should have tried harder and taken more time with me in hopes of winning over a new customer is a relatively empty shop. read more

Tools did not look clean, she got polish all over my skin, and did not even use lotion or anything. Day 2 and there are chips all over my nails - lint stuck in the polish.
