I came to this nail studio 3 times total in the last 2 years. It's not a cute salon and it's not terribly clean but that's kind of normal in San Diego. The first time I got a pedicure here, about two years ago, it looked terrible and was not relaxing at all, was actually one of the worst pedicures I've ever had. Recently went back for an acrylic fill and the owner did it, did a great job with the shape and gel polish. I went back two weeks later for my next fill with the owner again, he must've been a little stressed because he kept talking about some scam where he sent the wrong person money, I didn't really know how to respond because he kept talking about it. Nails that time were badly shaped and one hand looked different than the other, so I asked if we could even out a couple of them so they're all uniform and pointed out which ones needed to be shortened and which ones were really crooked. He was put out over my requests and said he owns other salons on Coronado and said he's very well known and successful in the San Diego nail space and said salons in general aren't really doing acrylics anymore and I need to do gel instead, I said I didn't want to do that for several reasons and he basically said I'm too picky to be a customer. So I paid and left. No harm no foul, I found a great spot by the ball park. Just was a poor experience here 2 out of the 3 times I went. Poor customer service, nails weren't good and was the furthest thing from a relaxing experience. read more

I recently moved to San Diego and was in search of a new nail place. I initially made an appointment for 10am, but received a call back and asked to move my appointment to 10:30. However, when we arrived at 10:30 it seemed they were not expecting us and thought we were coming at 10. I was surprised to hear this, but miscommunications happen. I would suggest calling to confirm your appointment the day of. My main issue is the quality of my nails, which surprised me given the 4.5 stars rating. I got a basic gel manicure and regular pedicure. My pedicure was rushed through and the coats were uneven. It looked like I did it myself. However, it was the gel manicure that was truly disappointing. As you can see from the pictures there is polish on my hands and fingers and all over my cuticles. The coats again were uneven and some of my skin around my nail is now a pinkish color. Overall, I am very disappointed in the entire experience and that this will not be my new nail spot. read more

The result was exactly what I had envisioned and asked for. Alex listened to what I wanted and asked me to let him know along the way if I wanted to change anything. He tried out my color and asked my opinion before proceeding (something I really appreciate - it's the little things). I chose gel color 37 which is a sparkly clear/white. Let me start by saying that I was visiting San Diego from out of state and was looking forward to my husband and myself getting a mani/pedi. Everything around us was closing in 45 minutes and I didn't think they would have time, but I called anyway and the woman said they'd love to take us. First impression was that it was hard to find since there isn't a big awning or sign. Just a small neon nail salon sign in the window but we made it there relatively quickly. I didn't let that discourage me since they were kind enough to take us. The woman were all SO FRIENDLY! The prices are cheap compared to what I pay in Minneapolis, so I splurged the extra $10 each and I'm so glad I did! They went above and beyond in every way. I will say hands down it was the best mani/pedi experience I've ever had....and I've been getting them for 20 years. They took they're time and I didn't feel like they rushed me out at all (even thought they stayed an hour late). If you want to get your monies worth, and I mean every single penny, give this place a chance! I only wish they had something this reasonable and detailed in Minneapolis. I asked for dip powder ($40), but got acrylic ($40) with black gel (+$20). Nail tech I think was the owner was extremely nice, I'm just not someone who typically speaks up so I let it go. The woman who did my nails was friendly and she did an awesome job cleaning my cuticles, trimming the nails and buffing. The massage was great! I would go back her for that alone. I'd even go in for a manicure and I've never had one of those. I asked for clear coat polish, but that was my mistake. I could see a lot of the lines and streaks in my nails. It seemed like she rushed through this part. After taking her time with everything else, she raced through the polish. I came in for the first picture. And you could see the shitty lines from not blending so she tried to paint just the bottom with a random color and it didn't work but she tried to say it's done. I asked her to cover it up because it looks bad and then she did this. Not the right shape, length, no ombré like I wanted. Just this pink color painted poorly on and nails with terrible edges. Now having to get them removed and start over. All this took 2 HOURS. On the phone they told me $40. Then she tried to charge me $51. I complained and she charged me $41.... don't ever come here. I only tried it because everything is closed on Sundays. Also they don't wear masks until you ask. And gloves they tried to do the same.
