Just relocated and was a walk-in first time patron at Nail Time. The pedicure was a poor quality rush job. Toenails were cut at an angle? Did not ask how I would like them to be shaped? Rough / dead skin still clearly visible but the guy proceeded to paint my nails anyway? When I asked for corrections, a head shake "no" with half hearted effort and no correction. I came home and did my own pedicure. The lady who did the manicure was nice. I chose a color that I had at another salon just two weeks ago but when she painted my first nail, it was not the same color. The name on the bottle matched but the number didn't. So, I picked another color. They couldn't find that color either after having everyone in the salon looking for it? So I had to choose a 3rd color that I wasn't happy with but time was wasting and I needed to go. My gel manicure has small bubbles on each nail in less than 24-hours? Never had that before? Even though I was not happy with the service, I wanted to tip the nice manicurist as she was the only one who offered a genuine apology. I have NEVER been to a nail salon that A) has an ATM in it B) when you pay with a card, the receipt does not have a line to write in a tip?! There are universal warnings against using ATM's NOT connected to a bank, so I was not going to use my card in that ATM. I had to run my card a second time just for the tip! This is an odd payment system and should be disclosed clearly and upfront to new patrons or anyone coming in. Paid $57 plus $5 tip. Completely dissatisfied. read more

I have been there twice and very happy both times. People were so nice and it seems they have a regular local biz. They knew everyone's name as they walked in the door. Both times I got a mani pedi. I've been here about 4 times and decided to go back after I got home from college. I had an appointment at 4:30 for a dip manicure. Not even 4 hours later and my nails are already chipping. Not to mention, I was out of there by 5:00. She rushed everything, didn't even take her time nor seemed like she cared! After paying $45 for just dip and tipping her I couldn't believe how expensive it was and how it's already chipping!!! I will not be going back - a manicure especially dip should not be 30 minutes let alone should not crack 3.5 hours later after getting them done. read more

Believe the poor ratings for pedicures. I had made appointment but they didn't even pretend to write it down. It's really first come first served. It was laughable how the technician literally skimmed the file over my nails instead of filing. The callus removal was also a joke and nonexistent. Not exaggerating. She did everything in 10 minutes paint ready (other than a lite message)!!! I had to request that some sort of bright blue stuff that was left on be removed. Three of us went for pedicures w/o an appointment. We did call ahead and were told "come on in". (Snowy Sunday with a big Chiefs game on, so it was a slow afternoon for them.) Got a full set put on, the tech was very pushy when it came to color and was mad that I couldn't decide. When I went to pay she told me it would be $70, I showed her my coupons and it went up to $72. I had my first experience with Nail Time recently and was not very impressed. I get Shellac polish when I visit nail salons so my review will be based on that service. I was also using a Groupon for this visit for a simple removal and reapply of Shellac. -- I tend to judge these sort of "beauty" establishments from the second I walk in. I look at the cleanliness, staff's work stations and the overall care of the business. So.. here is what I observed.. From the moment I walked in, the smell of acetone was heavy in the air. This generally means there is not a good ventilation system. I can't speak much for the building but I noted a filter of some sort sitting on the floor. It may help but it was far too small for such a large space. I also noted the ATM in the back corner and was curious what that was all about since they accept credit cards for payment. Although we (a friend went with me) had an appointment, it was the usual "first come, first served." We didn't mind waiting so this isn't a huge concern. If I was, however, on a schedule that day.. it would have been irritating. Once we were told to go to a particular work station number (with no one there to welcome us) we sat for a moment and then someone came over with a plastic food storage container with warm water in it and then two round containers in the water with acetone inside and told to "soak.". These were odd little contraptions with bristles in them; a U-shape for your fingers and then a single hole for your thumb, which was a little small. After sitting there for 15+ minutes with my fingers in these things and still no employee attending to us, I felt like just doing the polish myself to get the stench of acetone out from in front of me. While sitting there I noted a message stuck to the table that went a little something like this: "we accept credit cards for payment on services but would ask that all gratuity be paid in cash. We have provided an ATM... " Hmmmmm. Can we maybe say people aren't paying their taxes like they should?? And.. I'm going to pay an ATM fee for a tip of equal value? I think not! Now, for my actual service... I have to say that the woman that did my French polish did a pretty good job. This particular option takes a bit more talent and she did it well. I had a darker color on and going to a clear French and she was about to put the first coat on and I had to stop her to get the little color specks off the sides of my nails. It was irritating that she wasn't more aware. Now her tools.. clean but not as clean as I like. They use an OPI UV light that looked brand new. I liked that and they actually used the timer (unlike some other places I have been). So... overall.. not "unclean" or "unfriendly", but it's not my choice of locations for a Shellac polish. I've found cleaner, friendlier, cheaper, better locations and will be going there in the future; not Nail Time. read more

I have been going to nail time for 8 years and I love my nail technician. However they are under new ownership and ever since, they have cut back on staff and now you have to wait everytime! I have a limited amount of time due to my heavy work schedule so I would get a petacure at the same time, not anymore they dont allow it. Not very customer service oriented! And the owners are not freindly not even a hello! I hate to leave after all this time however there are way too many options! Stay away! read more

I followed one particular nail tech here from another location but when he's been on vacation, I've had the opportunity to have other techs do my fills, and all are great. They can pick & choose who they hire at this venue, so you're in good hands with whomever you're with. One nail tech is a true artist & has had his work published! Most speak good English & only a few speak their original language amongst each other, which seems to be frowned upon. As when they do, my tech always interprets so that no one feels awkward. Never will go back! UGH! I bought a Living Social for a regular manicure including nail polish (not shellac) and three different people told me three different prices to upgrade to shellac. Over the phone when I made my reservation I was told $10. By the time I got there they wanted $24 more to upgrade which I could have paid full price for with no living social coupon and done better! Either they understand exactly what they are doing, or they truly don't understand due to the language barrier. Either way it is bad for the customer. They also make you wait even if you have an appointment. I opted for exactly what my coupon was for. They did have to remove what was left of my last shellac and they put your hands in acetone to soak which is NOT the proper way to remove shellac and will damage not only your nails but is not good for your fingers. When pulling my hands out of these jars of acetone my fingers were absolutely dried out and WHITE. They looked like I had soaked them in bleach most of the way up to the 2nd knuckle. Then they only put on ONE coat of polish! Are you kidding!? It won't last 3-4 days. They charge extra if you ask for clean instruments (50 cents) This policy is posted on a sign over the sink in the back. It is overly smelly. I don't know how anyone can work in that environment and not be sick. Although she did a fairly good job of the manicure portion, the nail polish is pretty worthless with only one coat and my nails are now damaged from the way they removed the polish. Walked in for a gel manicure and spa pedicure and they got me in right away. The pedicure was awesome and she obviously knew what she was doing. I was then given to a timid young lady who seemed unsure of herself. I have had gel manicures before and they always look great. This did not. It turned out bumpy and streaky. I was quite disappointed because this was for an event. And I have already had a chip out of it! And it's only a few hours old. read more

I have been going here off and on for several years. I have had manicures, pedicures, spa pedicures, acrylic nails, pink and white and just recently had a shellac manicure. I rarely make an appointment and usually just take whomever is available. I have only had a couple less than perfect experiences and the owner or her nephew who is the manager have always taken over and fixed anything. That's my fault for not planning ahead. I have tried other places with coupons that might have saved me a couple of bucks, but I have never been as satisfied and I always come back. The only negative is that some of the staff are not friendly and do not take the time to complete their work, I've had two times where my nails did not look good because my regular nail tech wasn't there. I've been going to this nail salon for over a year now. My original nail tech went on maternity leave & I had to go to someone else. This man messed up my nails multiple times. I felt so bad he had to take extra time on me that I double tipped him what I normally tip. After paying I realized that my nails were too thick and asked if he could quickly shave them down. He did, after announcing to the entire salon that I needed them thinner. After making them thinner he didn't apply the correct top coat. I asked him about it and he proceeded to publicly humiliate me in front of the entire salon. I've never felt so terrible in my entire life. I would heavily advise you to choose a different salon. During the 7 minutes he answered the phone, checked on the other workers, and made appointments, I mentioned the nails were still rough and he said you are done. I have been in a handful of times and after my last trip I will not ever be back. I got a pedicure and dipped nails. My friend got a polish change on toes and dipped with tip. I was done with my pedi and nails before they ever started hers but we "started" at the same time. It took 2 hours for my services to be completed and about 2:45 for hers. They were busy and not turning anyone away. Instead they would start your service and let you sit while they did a little bit of someone else's services. Horrible acetone smell before you even walk in. The service is by far the most unappealing I have ever experienced, and my acrylics lasted 4 days before I had to get them replaced by another nail salon. I took my money and time to a better place.
