In early February, I attempted to book an appointment online with no success. I ended up calling and Tiffany was so sweet! She booked my appointment over the phone. The customer service was fantastic! I came here for the first time in early March. The experience was lovely! I found parking right in front. Tiffany unlocked the door. Had me sanitize and take my temp before checking in. There was a bit of a wait because they were behind but that was no problem. Since there were only 2 other ladies in the space, it was quite. Not too much chatter. Elle was my mail tech and she was very gentle. I appreciated that. As someone who doesn't get manis+pedis often, it was quite expensive. But if I paid the price I did so the techs can get the pay they deserve, it was worth it. Normally a gel manicure will only last me 5 days, but I was able to have this one for 2 weeks. My pedicure probably would have lasted 4-5 weeks, but I just wanted a color change for vacation.

I have to let you all know about a new nail spa located in SE Washington, DC, that just so happens to be black owned and operated! I went to get a Toast Manicure and Pedicure. Im all for supporting my own so I jumped at the chance to give them a chance. So glad that I did. Elle did my pedicure with an awesome hand painted design on my big toes. "J" did my Manicure that was heavenly. The overall experience was excellent. We had the best conversation and their energy was positive and very friendly. I'll definitely be back.

Clearer than glass, a superb classy holiday style. NB&B never disappoint. Lock in and schedule recurring appointments.

I've always been picky about my nail salons. It's probably why I have never really been consistent about nail care. That's changed in the last year for me. I travel a lot and I need each handshake to make a good impression. I had been looking for a place that didn't use a lot of chemicals and was respectful of not just me but all of the clients. Vicky's in Georgetown fits this and had been going there off and on. In 2019 I decided I want to find something closer to home. Nailbed and Bar is my new nail salon of choice. LaLena, Tiffany, and Javon are so cool. They are warm and inviting from the beginning. As is the minimalist modern decor. And we have all bonded over a shared love of 90s R&B. They offer pretzels and I am addicted to the popcorn. You also get a choice of drink. The mani-pedi menu has a drink theme. Everything is offered a three levels with varying levels of service. For my acrylic and SNS fans, sorry you won't find that here. Since I had SNS on my nails, I wasn't sure of their Gel Enhancement service was going to be to my liking. Actually it's better. I haven't had any lifting, cracking, or breaking. Also there is no soak off with acetone. I pay extra for gel polish and my hands stay perfect until it's time for a fill. Pro tip#1: Make an appointment. Although they take walkins, they are usually booked up on the weekends. If you aren't sure of what service you want just call and Tiffany will help you out. Pro tip #2: The appointments are longer than a regular salon because they really take their time. My "Thirst" pedicure was 2hrs. My pedicure was 6wks ago and my polish has not chipped or cracked with traditional polish.

All the staff here is super friendly and helpful! I called and got a last minute appointment right before the holidays, and was so glad they were willing to squeeze me in. After being greeted right away, I was given the polish selections and offered a glass of wine (don't mind if I do!) The woman who did my gel manicure was very cheerful and sweet. I wasn't familiar with the polish they have and was a bit nervous, but it turned out nicely and lasted for 2 weeks. The location is great and there's lots of street parking nearby. Very glad to have this salon in my neighborhood!

Ok soo I must say I loved this bar and I love the ladies in it.. I tried to book an appt online but they were all taken so I contacted them on Instagram and she responded!!! They told me to call at 10:00am when the salon opened.. I did. I was at the salon by 10:35 and getting my nails done by 10:45. They offered me beverages, we told jokes oh and I Did go on Valentine's Day so they had cake, cookies and chocolate as well as WINE( I got water in a fancy wine glass).. Jay was the girl who did my nails and she was great to talk to.. I got a pedicure as well which was FAB the bottom of my feet are STILL SOFT YALL (I got the WAX treatment) everyone was engaging and kind.. I will definitely be back and I've told al 4 of my sisters.. please book your appoint with them and support black business with GOOD PRODUCTS AND GOOD SERVICE only missing a star because there aren't any massaging chairs read more

I find it difficult to express my love for Nb&B. The nail services are always meticulous and creative. I appreciate the gentle encouragement to try different things, and go a little outside the box. Equally, if not more important, is the fact that my visits are the ultimate recharge. Something about the environment curates a particular type of clientele, which invariably leads to fun and positive conversation. I reliably catch a case of the giggles, with an awesome soundtrack, and wine as added bonuses. J and Lena always make me feel like I'm having an awesome time with friends and I leave with bomb nails as an aside. My only hesitation in leaving this review is letting the cat out of the bag, making it harder for me to get an appointment! You should be totally jealous that you don't live as close as I do. read more

So nice to have a luxury nail spa east of the river. Upon entry the Nailbed & Bar was quite a sight to see. Very clean, bright and airy. I love the minimalist decor on a white backdrop w splashes of matte black, gray, and metallic gold. What's not to love about a good pedicure and a glass a wine to help one relax? The prices are also great. Plus I love that I'm supporting a local, black business. The nail techs were very professional and I could tell that they take their craft seriously as they knew tons about nail care and general, every day trauma that impacts our nails and feet. The real bonus, is that they take sanitation seriously. They use foot baths without jets to minimize mold accumulation, and offer waterless pedicures and disposable tub liners upon request. I look forward to returning. read more

The salon flourishes at customer service. They owner and staff are completely lovely ladies, but the timing of the appointments are what will keep me from returning. I can't justify spending over two hours in a salon and paying a high price point for my nails to look ok at best. They're really trying, but I don't think all of the manicurists have the best skill set. I'm not sure of my future with them, but after chatting with the owner, I really want to give them one final chance before I move on. read more

Gel mani for the win! Regardless of the fact that the salon is black owned (which I love) I am even bigger on customer service! I will spend my dime anywhere as long as I am satisfied but the salon being black owned is just the cherry on top! After reading the comments, I felt lucky that I was able to get an appointment next day. They are booked and busy and while for some that may be problematic, to me that just mean plan accordingly and schedule in advance. The salon ambience is nice, they book accordingly so it wasn't overwhelming or crowded. J, the owner was so sweet! I'm usually not a social customer, I like to listen to music or watch shows while being serviced but she was so sweet and welcoming. I'm usually a simple regular gel polish type of girl, but after seeing pics and all they offer I'm excited to try Designs and nail art. All in all, TRY THEM! You won't be disappointed. read more

I'm back providing another review because I love this place so much. Nailbed & Bar is the epitome of professionalism and great customer service. I have been coming almost since the opening of the salon and can say that I love it now, just as much as I did back then. J and L's always take care of me and I never leave unsatisfied. They absolutely love what they do, and you can tell through their work. If they ever leave, I don't know what I'll do because finding a good nail salon/nail tech is like finding a good man. When you find one, you remain loyal. I found one and I'm loyal! read more

Pros: I like that the shop doesn't over book, and the shop has a really cute set up. Cons: 1) The chairs for the pedicure are as uncomfortable as they are cute. I guess I'm just used to massage chairs for pedicures. I could get over that though. 2) I wanted to love this place. I really tried to understand my experience but I'm not happy with any of it. I'm not the best at deciding on colors so that's on me. However, I expect, at a minimum, a neat polish job. The polish on my feet is not so neat and neither was my manicure. I really looked forward to this salon, because it's black owned and because it's in my childhood neighborhood. What a disappointment. I get a little more annoyed everytime I look at my nails, neither the polish job or design were great. At first, I was hesitant about writing an honest review because I couldn't figure out what was wrong but (gosh) I dont even have a top coat on some nails and the nail art just feels like it wasn't finished all the way. I'm sure somebody loves the place, and, although I'm disappointed with my service, I hope I just caught them on a bad day. I expected more. read more

I had a mani and pedi polish change last weekend for my birthday. I purposely waited to review until a week after to see how well my polish lasted. I am a fan!!! My nails have barely chipped. The service and atmosphere of this place is everything! Love, love, love and so glad you opened EOTR! Now I just wish I could walk in. That is the only limitation but I understand the need for more staff capacity. So glad I booked in advance! read more

They do an excellent job with your nails and take their time. They also have such great vibes and amazing music and everyone is just so kind. I've been searching for a nail salon that provides me a place to unwind and this was it. Even if it wasn't in my neighborhood, I would make my way to Nailbed & Bar. The staff are friendly and attentive. I never choose a design or color but rather a feeling which they translate to my nails - each time I am never disappointed. After my first visit, they greeted by name. My nails are happy and healthy. I recommend the salon to everyone and look forward to each visit. read more

I really wanted to support a Black owned business and went for the first time to this shop yesterday. I booked an appointment online for 1:45. I arrived at about 1:35. The receptionist was very pleasant and offered me refreshments. I waited until about 2:10 and received no update as to when a technician would be with me until I said I had to go. Overall the establishment looked nice but timeliness was not adhered to as it relates to a scheduled appointment. read more

I am totally in love with Nailbed & Bar. As soon as I entered the door I felt welcomed and as if I had known the staff for years. Tiffany at the front desk is extremely sweet and very attentive. She makes sure to offer you something to drink or a snack. The decor is very nice and relaxing and I always love the music that is playing. I always love my nails and so far J has been the one to do them. I highly recommend this nail shop to those looking for great costumer service and great results! read more

A beautiful salon, all the staff are very pleasant. My ONLY complaint is that they are so busy and popular, you have to make your appointments over a month (sometimes longer) in advance! But the ladies that work here are intelligent and excellent conversationalists! They also know how to care for your nails without damaging them! Despite the fact that I'd love to come more frequently if they had availability, I appreciate the service when I can get in! read more

I'm back again! I love coming to this spa feeling atmosphere to get a pedi & mani creation, while enjoying girl talk. I even bring my teenage daughter, and she love her nails also. The technicians are talented with designing, customer oriented & I get a glass of wine. This establishment is women & black owned, so I'm definitely supporting it & I suggest you do too. read more

It's not near a metro, but there's normally street parking available. Most times I'm able to get parking right on Minnesota Ave in front of the salon. Other times, I've had to park around the corner (4 min walk max)

They do not use drills on feet at Nail Bed & Bar. They tale their time and are very good.

When I sat down, I was never asked if I wanted a drink, while other white customers around me were. I was also not given a menu to choose the type of pedicure I wanted. That immediately rubbed me the wrong way treat everyone the same. I asked for square nails and told her multiple times not to round them, yet she continued to do so anyway. I requested French toes with a soft pink base and black tips, but she acted like she couldn't find the colors. At that point, I told her to just do solid black to keep it moving. When we went to her nail station, I showed her the reference for the full set pink acrylic with a black French tip. She tried to tell me it wasn't possible and claimed she only had gel polish. I had to pull up a TikTok and show her, and suddenly she understood exactly what I meant. By then, I already knew my nails were about to be messed up, so I told her to just do a manicure instead. I paid over $100, and my polish is already peeling off. On top of that, the tools do not appear to be properly disinfected, which is unacceptable. I am a board-certified esthetician, and this experience was extremely unprofessional. Connie was careless, and this salon overall was a huge disappointment. I will not be returning. So pissed my gel polish is already coming off..

I had to specifically ask her to cut them down--which should be a basic part of a pedicure. On top of that, I was charged $60 for an incredibly subpar pedicure. I was so over it that I asked her not to bother with nail polish. Speaking of polish, I have NEVER gone to a salon that seemed almost out of stock of polish. Overall, the service did not match the cost, and I would not return or recommend this salon. There are too many other options, like Enchanted Nails, to consider.

I just needed my old gel removed, so I went to this salon close to my house. The salon was calm, clean and friendly. And their rates are better than just competitive. So what made it such a great manicure? Rose. She removed my old gel gently. So I decided to try her out for a polish. She knew from looking at my nails the shape I wanted without a long explanation on my part. When I said no to the cuticle scissors, she gently pushed the cuticles back and ask if she could cut a couple of hang nails. And then she did an impeccable job applying the polish. And as a bonus, she was quite quick! Going back for a pedicure. And another favorite: no annoying tv playing something no one want to watch, or no bad loud music.

The main gripe I have is that the dye she put on top washed out after one wash with purple shampoo, something that had never happened to me before when I had gotten my hair balayaged elsewhere in the past (nor when I'd gotten it toned every two months). She'd recommended using overtone conditioner--unfortunately, the silver overtone conditioner did nothing except give my hair a green twinge (looks a lot like hay currently.) When I panicked and told Doan about this she was kind and offered me useful advice--clarifying shampoo, which I hadn't thought about--and relayed the brand of dye she used so I wouldn't have an alternative salon use it on me in the future. Sadly, only two weeks after getting my hair done I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get it fixed, hence the three stars. :(

On 8/1 I received an eyebrow wax and was happy afterwards only to discover on 8/3 that I had a rash around the eyes and the eyelids. BOTH OF MY EYES!!! I was also burnt that left a scar that I can actually deal with but the rash not too much. I immediately notified the owner, she apologized, she shared with me that this happened to another customer earlier in the day, and to put Neosporin on it. She also shared with me that she saw the bumps starting to appear but failed to tell me until I brought it to her attention 2 days later. Luckily I had both Neosporin and Benadryl handy and started to apply the cream. Now on 8/5 and 8/6 I have woken up to swollen eyes!!! I called her again and asked if she using something new, what did she do different, etc. Of course there is a culture and language barrier that is difficult beyond words; however I am explaining to Christine what she did that day at time of service. She began to draw my eyebrow with a pencil, and then proceeded to wax and tweeze the brow. When she was done, I looked at the good job she did, paid and left. Only to discover this horrific rash and swelling on my face. I called on 8/6 to notify her once again of my concerns and she further explains that it has happened to her as well when she waxes her brows. Clearly this wax is bad, contaminated, or the like and this is a huge problem. The reason that I am going above and beyond is to avoid this happening to anyone else. My face is irritated and I cannot scratch it at all! I am highly upset, frustrated, annoyed, and now inconvenience for seeking attention to correct her negligence. What is sad is that I have been going to this place for 8+ years when she began in the building above her. I actually stopped getting my nails done here because after 3 days my nails are chipped and broken. I pass by too many nail salons that are much cheaper and efficient to have this done to me. So I continued to get my brows done here since I was always satisfied with that service. Christine will never have to worry about me coming back here ever again. The power of the internet and crowd sourcing will play a part when people begin to read many outlets of this unfortunate moment. After visiting urgent care I learned that this reaction is a STAPH INFECTION!! Now I'm on antibiotics until it clears. I wish her and her business the best but she will never receive a penny of my money again!

I had such a great experience at Nailbed & Bar! From the moment I walked in (and I was late due to plumbing problem at my resident), I was greeted with a warm welcome and immediately noticed how clean, modern, and relaxing the atmosphere was. The staff and owner made me feel comfortable and took their time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. My nail tech which was the owner was professional, detailed, and really listened to my preferences. She paid close attention to shape, color, and cuticle care (which I brought a bottle ) everything looked perfect by the end. I also appreciated how gentle she was and how she explained each step along the way. The products they use felt high quality, and the environment was calm, not rushed like some other salons. I left feeling refreshed and so happy with the results. My nails came out beautiful and the service was top-tier.
