Very disappointed with my set of nails. I came in for a full set. The tech recommended Gelx. She said if done right, they should last. Well I guess they weren't done right because the next day the index finger came off. After that, the pinky finger came off while the index finger on the other hand started lifting and came off. I couldn't go back to fix them cause I left out of town. Why do I have to glue nails back on, while on vacation. I wanted long square nails but they only had stilettos. So I didn't like the shape. The polish was awful. It was see through and I could see all the gel under it. The nails lasted 5 days. What a BIG WASTE of $75. read more

I found this place on Groupon and I used to work across the street. Definitely the best massage chairs I've sat in in a nail salon. I got a gel mani and regular pedi. The woman who's been doing my nails for a few years I stopped because the salon got closed down. I have been on a med search for a decent manicurist and finally found one at this location. They did a great pedicure as well as an excellent acrylic fill and gel. Everybody was recommending Butter, I tried them twice and they did a crappy job both times. By designer nails was a clean spacious peaceful place to get my nails done. The owner Rosa is great. My manicurist Tiffany did a great job. Service: The first time I came in there were 2 pretty unkempt and frazzled people working the front desk who basically threw a dirty "menu of services" at me after saying I'd have to make an appointment to come back. You'll see the corner of it in a photo - it landed as I was taking another photo... When I did come back (because I work next door and convenience is a real thing) the manicurist was nice and the manager came over to check on me and gave me a water, which was very nice. Atmosphere: Nice enough. Nothing special, but I only had a manicure so I can't speak to the pedicure chairs or that side of the room. Quality: DO NOT get the "powdered" gel. It was a mess within 48 hours. They say it's better and stronger and lasts 2 weeks "for only $5 more!" but go look at my pictures. Total waste of money. read more

I was able to ask for specifics and she was happy to do exactly that and also give suggestions. ALSO, since I was sitting in the pedicure chair she would move from left hand over to the right-hand side depending on which hand she worked on. I'm shocked to see positive reviews here! After reading those I made an appointment for today at 3 and I was there on time. When I entered the guy at the reception took my temperature and gave me a form to fill out which took me a minute to do. By then I just sat waiting for my turn. There were only 2 people there doing the nails.The girls were in the middle of their work and it didn't seem they would finish any time soon so after 32 minutes passed my appointment time I just got up and told the guy I'm leaving! Apparently appointment doesn't mean anything to this place! He didn't say sorry or anything like that! I do not at all recommend this place to anyone! read more

I try to support businesses in my area but I'm disgusted. I have a major fungus infection that is from the salon. They also cut the inside of my nail bed. Careless. Unfortunately I was hugely disappointed with my powder manicure yesterday. I wish I'd gone back to get it redone but had to fly back home. One of my nails chipped the day after (unheard of with powder manicures that normally last over three weeks, with no chips), the finish on the nails was very poor (not smooth) and even see-through on my thumb. I went in to get dipping powder done. As she was doing my nails... a HUGE red cockroach fell on the table on top of my phone ... she screamed and flicked it off and almost flicked it on me!!!! I almost threw up!!! She then tried to make me forget the haunting incident by offering me a drink and massage which I declined. Went here for the first and last time to get a mani/pedi. At first glance the salon seemed not bad. It was clean, equipment sterilized, refreshments were offered. The pedi started of fine until the technician started clipping my toe nails. She clipped so close to the skin on the sides of my toes that I shrieked in pain, not once but three times! Now I'm putting neosporin on two of my toes because they're red and inflamed on the sides. You can totally see that she cut into the meat. Hopefully the neosporin will help prevent any infections from happening. Now moving on the the mani, for this I had a different technician. I was already nervous about having the extra skin and cuticles clipped and cleaned but thankfully that went without pain. I asked for my nails to be barely filed because I liked the length and just wanted them evened out. They were filed with the rough nail filer but she never even bothered to smooth them out. So I had sharp claws and had smooth them out myself at home! To finish things off somebody left the break room open so I had to smell whatever someone was eating, which might I add did not smell good. I had to keep myself from throwing up, because I'm pregnant. Last thing I needed was to smell that. Finally as I'm sitting waiting for my nails to dry the technician who did my pedi sits in the pedi station across from me and another tech. starts doing her toes! How unprofessional is that! I would never allow for my employees in their uniforms to do that in front of clients. $90 plus tip later, needless to say I will not be returning. read more

It's usually a trade-off for nail salons: either you get plush surroundings, neatly organized polishes and little perks like hot tea while you get pampered, or you get a good deal. Usually I opt for the good deal side of things, but when I'm in the mood to up the class factor a bit and am in the West Hollywood area, this place will definitely be my choice! First of all, it's a huge plus that the salon offers free parking, because it's very very tough to find street parking here on Sunset. So I walked in already in a good mood because I didn't have to pay a fortune for valet somewhere, and my mood was heightened even more when I saw the rows and rows of beautiful Essie and OPI colors for the choosing. The technicians are super sweet as well, and they seem to take care in their work. If you're wondering why my rave review doesn't lead to five stars, it's simply because I was surprised at the end of the session at the high prices. They're not listed on the website so be sure to ask how much extras cost, like gel nails, or paraffin treatments. Those things can really add up! If you consider it a necessary indulgence, by all means go for it - but if you like the bare bones treatments like myself you may want to opt for a less opulent nail experience! read more

I was contacted by the owner of this place since I had a horrible experience last time I was there and she apologized and offered me a complimentary gel manicure. I called to make my appointment and since I don't do manicure I asked for a pedicure instead. It was very nice of the owner to apologized and to take the time to write me an email and also offered me a complementary service. I have had 2 pedicures before the comlimentary service, using the remainder of my gift certificate and both times w/ the pedi I've had a pleasant time and they did a great job on my pedicure! Today, receiving my complimentary pedi the lady that did my pedi was very friendly and I was treated like a princess! so far, I've had 3 pedicures done after my horrible experience the first time and I've had a very pleasant experience and service. I would go back to get pedicures done but when it comes to my nails, maybe someday, I will try getting my nails done here again! read more
