I went to this place in 2017 to get my nails done and they ignored me when I walked in and waited so I walked out. I made the mistake of going back to them in 2019 because I needed my nails done ASAP. What a fool I was. I walked in and again was ignored and not even acknowledged. This is place is absolutely fabulous!!!!!!!!!!! I have been getting my nails done with Van, the owner, since I was about 16yrs (over 10 years ago). Nails by us on Brand and Nails R us on Los Feliz are owned by the same person. My usual here is a full set and pedicure and I can not tell you how many people compliment me on my nails. I'm not one of those people with naturally beautiful hands. Total opposite actually. I have short fat hands and she manages to do an excellent job. My pedicures also come out fantastic each time. I'm surprised the person who reviewed this place before me had a bad experience. I really think she should give them a second try. I honestly firmly believe they do a really nice job. And OMG... I forgot to mention that the prices is unparalleled. Sooooooo reasonable. A spa pedicure is $15.... really?? I don't know of anywhere else that is that cheap. I should also mention that I have tried numerous other places in Glendale and this is my favorite spot. Right next to the Glendale Galleria, America, and best yet there is a Starbucks a couple stores down. =) read more

I've come to this nail place off and on for a couple of years. It is close to work, so it was great to stop by and wait out traffic by getting a spa mani pedi. I had not been in for maybe 6-8 months. I just moved and had not found a place near me I loved, so I thought I would go back. I made an appointment, and they took me right away. I wanted gel nails, and had gel on my hands already. I made small talk while they started my pedi, and mani. She put the foil in my nails, and then began to push it off with that tool. Then she used a nail file, that was basically rough sand paper. She started on my pinky, and I said ouch a few times. She was rough, and often scraped against my skin. My nails were covered in white from the file, and I couldn't see my nails, but a few were burning. I put my nails in the water, and see that on my pinky, and part of my ring finger, you could see my skin through my nails. I pointed it out, and she said it was okay, and finished my left hand. I put that hand in and same thing with my pinky, and three other nails. My right hand pinky was by far the worst. I ask if it was safe, and she said again it was okay. This is about the time the guy doing my pedi cut too close, and my toe was bleeding. I looked at the pinky again, and it continues to burn. I told her I didn't want the gel, and that I wanted to leave. I would pay for what they did. She brought another lady over to translate, who I thought was a manager. The manager said she filed too much, and corrected the nail person. I started welling up with tears because I've had gel, and that has NEVER happened. It was painful, and looked awful! Basically they finished the pedi, and she added color to hide the see through factor. The nail lady kept saying I need nail strengthener because my nails are too thin ( umm now they are!). My thumb smudged an she just painted a line of color over, after it was dry. The "bad" pinky also has a chip on top which completes the look. In the drying area, I asked the manager if we should take the polish off the pinky because it was burning and she said I couldn't go out like that, and the nail wasn't bleeding through the skin, so it was okay, and common. The lady that did my nails did give me a massage, and at the end they did take care of part of the service, but it was an awful experience. I won't go back. read more

I live in Sherman Oaks but I make the drive out to Glendale because I don't trust anyone else with my nails. But this time, the woman who did my pedicure used a technique that I never seen done before. She sprayed my toes with something and put oil on it, probably to make it dry faster, then wrapped them in plastic wrap. I've never seen it done so I trusted that this wouldn't ruin my pedicure. After doing so, she immediately sent me out the door. I got home and the nail polish was completely ruined. I'm really disappointed that I wasted a drive out to Glendale. DO NOT let them wrap your pedicure! Insist that you stay until your toes are dry. read more

I also had a bad experience with this place recently. It's a clean, decent place, in general, and although the men with the extremely long thumbnails that they use to help them when manicuring reeeally gross me out, I'd decided I could just look away! However, last month I got a manicure, and the man used an electric tool to work on my cuticles (I'd never had this done before). Anyway, then things proceeded as usual, and I didn't think about it. A couple of weeks later when I removed the peeling nail polish, I saw that there were indentations in my nails - caused by this tool. Every nail has a curved indentation, very noticeable and clearly felt as divets in my nails, and the pinky one is particularly bad. As it has grown out, the nail began to bend back to the indentation. I cut my nails short and finally went in today to complain, ask why they use that tool, and request either a free manicure today or a refund. At first they talked to me about how my acrylics will do that, etc. and I had to push -twice- that I've never had acrylics. Then the woman there told me it had been weeks, clearly, since I'd had my nails done. To which I responded, Yes, and you see the problem is still here weeks later - so you understand how long I've been dealing with this. Then she tried to claim that she can't know that I came there. Sorry they don't give me receipts for my cash-paid cheap manicure, but I'm not some weirdo off the street hoping Nails By Us have this electric cuticle tool I've never seen before so that I can abuse my power and take advantage of a free $15 manicure?? I said to her, So, you want me never to come here again and for me to tell my friends never to come again because you refuse to own up to totally screwing up my nails - not by putting nail polish on wrong - but by manually putting craters into them with a tool? Hate leaving bad reviews but they did the old bait and switch.... Went here with my boyfriend for pedicures instead of my go to place because I had heard good things from many different people. I called and asked how much a pedicure is, he said $14, I asked if there was a wait, he took my name and said 15 minutes. My experience was just uncomfortable. Had to wait a long time after being set up in a chair and being told that there was no wait. A few weird things happened during our pedicures that I wont go in to detail about, I'll just say that it was uncomfortable. When we were done we went to pay and they said $43. The math didn't add up. My boyfriend got the callus remover service but I had no additional service done and a posted sign said $14 the same price as when I called. When I asked about it they talked in another language and then just kept saying $42, $24 for him and $17 for me. We paid, we left we will never go back. read more

Nobody said a word when I walked in. Everybody kept working. I said that I had an appointment. They told me with an attitude that I would have to wait for half an hour. This is a good Nail Salon, they have a wide variety of polishes and colors. They do amazing Pedicures especially Ben, just make sure to get the spa pedicure. Everything was basically ok until the very end, when my tech said they were out of flip-flops, but I couldn't wear shoes for at least two hours. I'm not leaving the nail salon barefoot! A nail place either needs flip flops or quick-drying topcoat. I put on my shoes and put some glitter polish on at home to cover the mess left behind. Lame. I LOVE this place, all the people who are complaining about the workers are crazy! Honestly, it all depends on YOUR attitude...I've been there doing my nails and have seen so many rude women come in and they got the same rude treatment. I always come in with a smile and make sure I'm kind because I firmly believe that you should treat others the way they treat you. Anyways, they are SO friendly and always compliment me as well as spark interesting conversation while doing my nails, as for their work...I have no complains. I would highly recommend this salon for any service with the major exception of eyelash extensions. My friend and I decided to go there one afternoon and she was very happy with her mani-pedi...I decided to have my legs waxed as well as get eyelash extensions. The wax was very thorough and well-priced, BUT the eyelash extensions took forever and were extremely painful during the application and afterwards. I had to patch my eye with a bandage before going into work the next day and it was the most painful workday ever. Lesson learned!! I had to go to the ophthalmologist the same day to have some of the lashes removed and get antibiotic drops because some of the extensions were rubbing on my eyes...SO PAINFUL!! The salon staff is friendly and professional EXCEPT when it comes to fake eyelashes!! read more

Do NOT go here!!! I had one of the worst experiences. Not only is it extremely over priced. The service is mediocre. I went in for a fill. A FILL- and it cost $45! My nails are not even that long... secondly, I asked the lady a question about a color and instead of her explaining or giving me another option she just shut it down quickly w/ a hard "NO". And third, the next day, not even 24 hrs later two of my nails broke. My index finger and my pinky finger, because the woman who did my nails was extremely stingy with that acrylic. She put as little as possible for my fill- and I have a thick nail bed so that little ass acrylic she attempted to fill my nails w/ only made them more accessible to breaking and that they did. I came here frequently until I found out how limited and lazy the techs are. Tell me why, my nail tech couldn't deal with any enhancements. As in, I have natural nails and as soon as I wanted powder on my broken nail to match the others, she was like . Had me waiting for the next tech, the owner I presume, to do the enhancement. So I'm thinking ok I really liked her painting technique so whatever I can possibly overlook this, even though the process took longer (make you think if she actually has a certificate in her field though if she doesn't know how to do powder) UNTIL I came back for removal and she couldn't do that either . THEN I inquired about "pixie dust" with the owner who took care of my powder, tell me why she hadn't even HEARD of "pixie dust" and was trying to act like I didn't know the piper name for it and was like "I need name! My first visit here and I'm disappointed. I came in for color change on my toe nails and firstly the chair and the footrest were full of cut cuticles and toe nails and filings, and god knows what else. The entire place was unclean. Then the woman who was changing my color filed my nails and didn't wipe off the filings before applying the new color. I wasn't paying attention thinking she knew what she was doing. Oh my gosh! The woman who waxed my eyebrows and lip didn't wash her hands beforehand. She had just finished a pedicure and rinsed the tips of her fingers for less than 3 seconds, no soap, didn't dry them and proceeded to touch my face. I'm so upset that I didn't ask her to wash properly. The wax itself was rough and sloppy. She got the aloe up my nose and rose water nearly in my eyes. I despise going here. I've been coming to this salon for years for only 1 reason: It's right across the street from work. They always have a seat open, so that's good, but really, its terrible. I never really had anything to say about them, they perform the standard for low-quality salons in LA: Vietnamese manicurists who talk loudly to each other in Vietnamese, get you in and out quickly and do a basic substandard job of just painting your nails all for a low price. This is what's expected. What is not expected is what I experienced yesterday: I walked in and asked for a manicure/pedicure and they immediately sat me at table 2. A man reeking of cigarette smoke proceeded to remove the existing nail polish from my fingernails while a woman asked me to place my feet in the warm water tub on the floor. Minutes into my services another woman walked in and said one word, simply, "Gel." Nothing more. No "gel manicure, pedicure, hair gel." Just, "Gel." The man who was working on my nails said, "Pick your color" To which the woman replied, "Orange and black." He immediately got up from putting my fingers in a green bowl of lukewarm water, guided the new walk-in to table one and proceeded to do her nails. Really? A person walks in, says 1 word and drop your existing customer to work on someone else? REALLY? Now THAT is customer service folks. No explanation of what he was doing, no apology, just up and walked away while my nails were waiting in a cup of water. Minutes later another woman walked over and finished the substandard job he was expected to do. Either way, will I be back? Probably. Will I like it? No. Will I tip them? Not anymore. read more

I have tried this place a total of three times. Each time I have been terribly disapointed. The first time I found the employees to be rude and rush through the mani-pedi. The manicurist cut me and I was bleeding. I was not happy, but figured this can happen any where. The second time I went in they were rude (you can see my review on 7/5/12). Each of these visits were months apart, but because it is conveniently located, I walked in again, for the third and final time. This time I went in early, before they got busy, and yet the manicurist was rushed and abrupt. She was really hard on my cuticles and it was hurting, but I didn't complain because I thought I was being a wimp -- Then, I felt it! Sure enough she cut me, and I started bleeding. She did nothing. I had to point it out to her! Then she looked and acted annoyed and continued to rush through the manicure. Shortly thereafter, the lady doing my pedicure did the same thing - She cut me and I started bleeding! At least she said "sorry." 20 minutes after I left the salon I noticed that the manicure is full of bubbles on every single nail!! They do a bad job. Period.
