I came in around 6pm for a pedicure, even though the salon was closing at 7, and they still welcomed me so kindly. I was their last customer of the day, but the lady who did my pedicure was incredibly patient and took her time -- she didn't rush at all and did such a beautiful job with my French tips! The woman at the front desk (possibly the owner) was also so sweet and warm, which made the whole experience even better. I tend to jump around nail salons because I havent' really found any that exceed my expectations, but I am really happy with how my nails have turned out after my visits with My Le (mani) and Maggie (pedi) at Nails by Yen. I went there in April 2023 after a horrible manicure job from another nail salon. My Le fixed my fingernails and shaped it the way I wanted. The color turned out just perfect. Maggie is super gentle when doing my pedicure and pays close attention to detail. My nails and color last and I love the quality of their work. read more

The experience overall was ok and my nails pretty color. The issue i had was with Joanne cutting my skinn on three fingers and not apologizing when i yelled in pain. I still tipped beacuse i know the ladies and skill it takes to be professional in Nail care but Joanne needs to do better and assit the client more when she injures them. About a year ago I came to the realization that while I can see my toes, and I can reach my toes, I can no longer do both at the same time. So my wife set me up an appointment for a pedicure with Audrey, and I've been doing this regularly ever since. Initially just for my toes but I've recently added a manicure to the visit as well. Audrey is always pleasant, careful, thorough, and efficient! There's no need to look any farther! PLEASE do not waste your money here!! My nails look like they were painted by a 4 year old. I came in was greeted, everything was fine. The owner ends up doing my nails and again everything was going fine. As soon as she started on my hands thats where it went downhill. I had to asked her about 4 times to fix something and got annoyed like its my fault. I can tell she was rushing me because some more people had came in. She didn't take her time with me at all and you can tell by her work! She didnt even bother to cover my full nail with the top coat she was going so fast and was unnecessarily rough w my hands. By far the worst nail salon i've been too please do not bring your money here. Responding to Joannes comment, She asked me when she was done what else can i fix, she never asked if i was satisfied. At that point i had pointed out so many mistakes i just wanted to get out of there bc she had an attitude at that point. Great service, it has improved over the years. Many of the nail technicians are friendly and will remember you if you visit often. Joanne and Audrey are always friendly and socialize with everyone. This spot has remained quite nice and clean over the years. There are plenty of comfortable seats to choose from, especially for the pedicures. The seats are large massage chairs. They'll offer you drinks if you ask for it. I typically opt for a water bottle while getting a manicure or pedicure. They have a decent selection of nail polish to choose from. The colors are vivid and nothing is stale. Overall a good choice for selecting a polish shoppe in the greater Sugar Land area. They are convenient and will call you if you're running late to your appointment. Prompt, courteous and no language barrier. This place has been a family favorite for years. They were open on the 4th of July, which was great! I was going on vacation the next day and work didn't allow for me to get my nails done before and my regular salon. Also, the pedicure was fairly priced and great. This place is very dated, not relaxing and definitely caters to an older crowd who have been doing their nails the same since the 90's. I paid $90 ($120 with tip). I normally go to a beautiful, luxury nail salon on Buffalo Speedway and 59, so an upscale area. I get shellac on my toenails and dip on my nails and spend the same amount. This place charges a lot of $ to remove shellac and dip which is not the case at my regular salon. So when I compare their unpleasant brown interior, price and quality of work to my regular but better priced salon, it's disappointing. I went in with dip from my regular salon and told him I wanted the same shape and thickness. Their dip selection is TINY- they have like no on trend colors, so I went with basic red. My natural nails had grown a lot and I told them I wanted them to be trimmed just a little and to keep the length so I could have an almond-oval shape (which requires longer nails). The lady clipped my beautifully grown nails so short. Not natural at all. They are super thick at the cuticles, not blended at all and the thickness varies across each nail. The girl did not know how to file evenly. She filed my nails to a square and I had to ask her to stop and retell her what i had asked for. Now the nails are super short and the shape is just not what I was looking for. But the WORST PART is they painted shellac OVER the red dip. NEVER had this done- like why?? The shellac started cracking immediately after I left and flaking off. Anything I hit my nails on caused a huge scratch, and I had to constantly use oil to try and hide the scratches. Dip nails are supposed to be shiny and pretty and ALSO not use the light. My nails look like trash less than a week in. Half are dull and rough because of the scratched off shellac. I have to go to my regular salon to get them fixed. If you want French tips or a simple pedicure, this place might work. But if you're younger than 50 and want nails that are on trend or look shiny and have a modern shape, you should avoid this place. read more

Beware they find ways to overcharge! I was charged for a full set when I didn't get tips and charged a full price pedicure for my young daughter that should have been the child's price. The inside of this place is also outdated. You can spend the same amount of money elsewhere in Sugar Land and sit somewhere nicer and newer. I would also like to add that prices were never discussed before hand even though the business claims they were on this review. They are dishonest. read more

This is a small nail shop tucked away in the corner of a shopping center. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. The ladies here have never been anything but nice to me. I've never made an appointment, but they do accept them. Still, I have never had to wait to get in as a walk-in. The women here don't make you feel awkward at all, even if you are new. They seem to get a ton of repeat customers and have often known the regulars by name when I've been here. Only thing I wish they had is a private wax room. I don't prefer to get my eyebrows waxed in front of the entire salon, but they do a decent job, so whatever. I have been here about three times now for manis, pedis, and eyebrow waxes. Clean, friendly and awesome! The nails techs are all friendly and talk to you they don't shout over the salon to talk to each other they take appointments and walk ins. I've been going to them for about two years now. I never have a problem with my nails not lasting longer than two weeks. They clean each pedicure chair right after they are done and dispose of things properly. The owner is very nice and always has a smile. Getting a pedicure right now. My friend and I both requested the deluxe pedicure. Mine started out great. Then more customers started walking in. My last left me for a good 15 minutes. My friend's lady did not get up and had already been massaging her for 5 minutes. My last came back and did 5 minutes of massage and was caught up to the lady who is doing my friend's pedi. So basically my friend got a 20 minute massage and I got 5. All because she decided to attend to another customer. This place sucks and we honestly only came because my friend had a gift card. If you are in the area you should go to bella nails in Missouri city or Simply Divine in Sugar land! The actual space looks older and outdated compared to other salons in the area which is weird because they've only been open for a year. Oh and they have a TINY selection of colors. I wasn't offered any of the free drinks and I felt as though my service was rushed because I had someone doing my pedicure while another person did my acrylic nails all at the same time even though the nail place was not busy at all. The lady doing my acrylics was very rough and aggressive with my hands and didn't even care or try to accommodate the fact that she was bending and twisting my hand painfully. I showed her the exact style I wanted (skinny straight) but my nails came out thick and wide. I told her this and she kept saying that she knew what she was doing and that that was how my nails were supposed to look like and basically acting like I don't know what I'm talking about. I willingly and shamelessly confess that I am a nail salon snob. 1) I am Vietnamese, so naturally I have nail salon running through my blood and 2) I worked as a receptionist at a nail salon for a better part of 6 months so I know the ins/outs/good/bad of nail salons. Granted, I don't know anything ABOUT actually doing nails and you might as well take a sharpie and color your nails in before getting me to do them for you, but I have a great eye for good nail salons and bad nail salons. Decided to try Nails by Yen out because of the reviews. Went with one of my friends who need a new solar nail set and I needed a shellac manicure (seriously, once you go shellac, you don't go back.) The one thing I didn't like was the fact that although we obviously came in together AS FRIENDS, they did not seat us next to each other. She got to talk to the back of my head across the room for a better part of an hour. I guess I understand that each nail technician has her own "station" but it would have been nice if my friend and I got to sit next to each other so we could have casually chatted while we were getting our nails done. But that's not anything to really nitpick at, what's most important is the customer service as well as the level of service and skill of the nail techs. I was very happy with my nail tech, she was quiet and sweet, didn't push me for any extra service and didn't try and excessively talk to me, just the way I like it. Although I am Vietnamese, most of the nail techs don't think I'm Vietnamese and I don't parade that fact either. I am pleased to say that none of them were speaking badly of any of their clientele (something that many customers are concerned of I'm sure. But honestly, Vietnamese just sounds harsh so it may seem as if they're talking about you. They're not talking about you unless they're pointing at you. We're not a very subtle race so we tend to point at people when we talk about them). Anyways, service was great, loved my nails. My friend liked her solar nails and ended up going back to get her eyebrows wax which says they did a great job with. GREAT prices for quality work and service! Definitely going back! Nail places tend to all be the same. Some trendier than others, but typically they are all hit or miss on quality depending on which nail technician you go to. Not Nails by Yen. Yen makes sure she hires all of the best nail technicians the area has to offer, so that you can be sure whoever your seated with will do a fabulous job. They offer a full range of services, but don't really cater to the trends. They don't do airbrush and they just got glitter acrylic in only months ago. Their clientele is the elite of Sugar Land, as well as people just looking for quality work at a reasonable price. I've been to almost all the ladies in the shop and everyone of them have impressed me. My typical pick is pearl tip acrylic nails, a manicure for my toes, and eye brow waxing. My nails always last longer than 3 weeks and I really have to work to break nails (which is surprising because they don't make your acrylic think like other places...its very thin and realistic). This isn't just a haven for women, too. Everytime I go, there is always at least one man in there getting pampered too. They have a full range of services for men. Monday and Tuesdays are the days they run specials...the best deals being on their spa chairs. The only caution I have is to always make an appointment. Even though they welcome walk-ins, its often hard to get squeezed in as they are always busy. If you do make an appointment, don't be late! When you're late that makes the rest of their appointments for the day run late...and thats just rude. ;-) read more

My mom is a fancy lady and gets her nails done every week. She's done this basically my entire life and shops around until she finds her place. Once she finds that place, she never leaves it. Upon moving to Sugar Land from Miami, she searched high and low for her weekly nail salon. This place won in the end. Located in a strip mall, this medium sized salon specializes in all things mani/pedi and whether you're after fake nails or nails au natural, you'll feel good here. I particularly appreciate the precision and thoroughness. After my nails were done, the affable manager came over to test the dryness and then applied some OPI oil to ensure a speedier dry. Nails by Yen has discounts on Mondays and Tuesdays, and their prices are already pretty reasonable. They take the time to do your nails and pamper you. However, it looked to me that each manicurist treated their clients with used nail files/buffers, as the nail file that was used on me was clearly previously used. This is the best place to go for a full set and pedicure. The place is very beautiful and newly renovated. The specialists are very friendly and professional... they are also perfectionists! In the few times I have been here I have seen many converts from sweetwater nails spa and for good reason! Prices are great along with service! I would recommend that you definitely make an appointment because they get very busy and fill up fast. The only thing that I would change is that I wish they would remember me because they definitely treat their regulars like royalty. My nail lady My or Mia gets 5 stars. She is patient with me when I'm indecisive on what color I want, let's me try out a few colors until I'm happy with my decision. First time I went to her for a refill she was explaining to me how the other place I went to did it wrong and they were coming loose on the sides which she fixed for no additional charge. I also have thin nails and sometimes other places will file them down too much and leave ridges that you can see when they grow out but not Mia! She has never cut me, my acrylic last for a long time, she won't try to make you buy things you don't want. She knows what she's doing and she does it right. I give the place 4 stars because before Mia I had gone to another lady. First time I asked for a refill, she never asked me if I wanted regular or solar she just put on solar. I told her that's not what I wanted she said regular turns my nails yellow.... My nails are painted so you couldn't see it if they were yellow and why would you use a product that would turn yellow? Second time (same lady) I got a spa pedi and refill. It was really uncomfortable to be turned to one side the whole time. She gave me a pillow covered in beads to rest my arm on which was of no help. It kept sliding down my lap because I was fidgeting trying to get comfortable. Then she would get frustrated at me. She seemed annoyed both times i came in. They turn on the massage chair and don't give you the remote so your stuck with what they give you. I'm small and it felt like it was trying to massage a grown man. I asked to change it she pushed some buttons and put it back out of my reach... Anyways I left more tense than when I came in. read more

I really don't know how I feel about this salon. One thing is for sure that they don't rush you like other nail salons. Will I come here again? Probably only because they were really sweet. I only had to wait 5 mins or so. I came in for shellac. They don't have a wide variety of colors to choose from for shellac. My shellac is chipping and one of my nails broke after a week. This was okay. Considering the price I payed for a mani-pedi, I'd expect more attention to detail. The woman that did my manicure did not clean up, my hands were left horribly dry and chapped and my cuticles were not clipped clean at all. I honestly could have gone home and done it myself for a fraction of the cost. Overall, the salon was clean and the staff was fairly friendly, but I do not think I got my money's worth. I'm new to Houston and where I come from, there's a nail salon on every corner where you can get a mani/pedi for $25. Not the case in Sugar Land! I searched high and low for a decent mani/pedi and I finally found my place. My mani lasted 10 days without a single chip or peel. This is a regular mani (not gel or shellac).
