I've been to a few different salons in the area and this one is the best by far! The shop is on the smaller side but don't let that fool you they do a great job! Jenny and Big Daddy (yes the owner goes by that nickname) are amazing! They are absolutely hilarious and always do an amazing job. I've gotten to know them very well since I've been going and it makes it more than just a trip to the nail salon. I don't like long nails and bit mine in fact, and big daddy is always able to make them look great. I'm super picky about colors and how close the polish sits to my cuticle and he will fix anything I ask of him or tell him I don't like. Jenny normally does my pedicures but she has done my nails before and did a great job and even added gems to my dip nail polish to live up my look. Her pedicures are absolutely phenomenal! She never rushes through them and gives the best messages. Anytime I'm in the area I will always go to this shop. Be mindful that there are some days that they are busy! So if you're thinking of going go on a less busy day or call. They take walk-ins but if you know you aren't okay with waiting a bit don't try to walk in on a Saturday afternoon. I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff and absolutely adore all of them. How many places know you by name and remember facts about your life? Sad service and pathetic results. RUDE employees. Went to get an acrylic fill. I showed him a very basic picture of "almond" shaped nails. He said "easy. I do for you". I picked a light pink shade. He gouged my left ring finger so bad at the end that it was bleeding pretty heavy. After removing the tissue from it he put nail glue on my cuticle to stop the bleed. I was so shocked by this. (Today it is red and inflamed, and tender to touch). The same day as service, one of my nails broke off. So I returned today and had them repair the broken nail and asked him if he was able to reshape a few of the nails that were lumpy. He told me he would only fix the broken nail. He repaired the broken nail and repainted it. When I showed him which spots I wanted him to fix he told me if was time to leave, that his customers waiting their turn could hear me complaining. I personally have traveled from North Carolina, to try this famous nail salon. The owner was exceptional and pleasant to work with. I stopped in because one of my artesian nails broke off and I was in dire need of replacement. Me being from out of state, finding a decent nail salon can be a painstaking process. Yet another update... I have not been back to Nails Galaxy since August, when I learned that the lashes that were used on me, were not the brand that was advertised. I reached out to Xtreme Lashes, and was told (please see photo added of conversation with Xtreme) that Jenny was no longer a client of theirs, meaning, she no longer purchases their lashes. She was indeed certified, I believe back in 2014 - which is fine and dandy, but I paid $200 for a premium product, and Lord knows what I actually got. I disputed the charge with my bank back in August. I called today, to learn that Nails Galaxy charged my card again on 10/19. It wasn't a reversal of a credit... I asked. They specifically said, that it was a new charge, by Nails Galaxy... which means, they have my card number. Talk about an uneasy feeling... you have my card number and you decided to charge it again? How do you have my card number? I would be very weary of this place. read more

I have had so many issues with salons from not shaping it right to messing up paint but this is by far the WORST one I had a basic clear acrylic done very short nothing at all but the BASIC and when a nail POPED if they wanted to charge me for it to be fixed ive been getting my nails done since I was 16 and NEVER HAVE I EVER had to pay for a nail to be fixed within the first two weeks of having them this happened and I was told well you only paid 28 thats what yall asked for I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS NAIL SALON AT ALL! I have visited this nail salon several times. The service is generally ok, gel manicure, and spa pedicures are decent for the area, I've had much better in D.C. but thought this place worth a revisit until my recent encounter. The problem is HONESTY!! first of all I really don't like to be sold additional services unless I inquire about it. I scheduled a deluxe pedicure treatment with gel, the owner offered a new treatment that was an additional $10, I thought why not, (It was no different from the regular treatment). She goes on to tell me this soap opera story about how her customers are cheating her, ditching without paying, taking additional services and asking for credit.....I thought wow that's unfortunate. We get through the service to billing time, I immeadiatly realize that she overcharged me, even after I gave her a generous $20 tip for mediocre service. Normally I would have called this out, but I could see her business is suffering, it was a Saturday and the place was practically empty. I prefer to let the universe deal with dishonest people, I am good with walking away, and spending my money anywhere but here. Pricing is never the same, and it certainly is not what is listed on the pricing charts in her establishment. She makes prices up, and it's up to you to know the difference. Maybe this is the reason other customers are ditching their bills, if you lie and cheat, it comes back to you 10 fold. The universe responds to your vibrations. read more

My nails were nicely done. The reason for the low yelp rating is twofold. 1. They harrass you to upgrade services to increase cost. Leave you having to repeatedly decline. 2. They refuse to accept tip via credit card and went so far as to say we really prefer no credit card. REALLY? Hiding income from tips is not my cup of tea. read more

This place was great 25 total and he did an excellent job! I take pride in my natural nails and some salons try and over do the nail file making them thinner. I feel generous leaving two stars despite they cut my toe during a pedicure and drew blood and didn't do such a great job with my gel manicure. I left and came back because my toe was stinging and asked for a partial refund. They responded with we will fix it come back. So they tried to fix my mani which mostly they did but nicked my cuticle. Then the guy went on to mumble something about being Vietnamese when I said I would like a partial refund for cutting my toe. He said he couldn't see it and then put oil on my toes and said "Sometimes cuts happen." I've never had such a poor experience with mani and pedis. Go at your own risk. You can see the poor job on the mani with the spillover and the cut on my toe. I bought peroxide to prevent an infection for the cut since they continued to dunk my toe in the tub of water. No apologies either and no refund. Awful. I'll be amazed if this gel mani lasts two weeks. read more

Everything was awesome when I walked in,the guy who greeted me was so nice and friendly but then I asked my nail tech to paint a spot that he didn't not get and he tells me no lol. So I'm polite and I say sir I'm paying for you to paint my whole nail so can you paint over it. He finally does it but with an attitude saying no one is going to look at my nail that closely. IT DOSENT MATTER I CAN SEE IT SO I ASKED YOU TO FIX IT. My first and last visit. The staff was friendly but I will not be returning. My pedicure was okay, the middle pedicure package was offered, I accepted, and it was done fairly - with the exception that the woman doing it had long, sharp nails and continuously jabbed me in the feet with them. A foot/leg massage doesn't feel so great when you're being stabbed by someone's nails. While receiving my pedicure, I informed the woman I would also like a manicure... a few moments later I inquired as to whether or not this nail salon does OPI gel nails. The woman doing my pedicure said yes. Remember, I specifically said OPI. From that moment on she very consistently attempted to talk me into doing the gel vs a regular manicure, which still, is what I stated I wanted. I said, "No, maybe next time, I'd like to try but I'm just not sure I have the time to keep up with it right now. Maybe one day." FYI - I was also pushed into doing the crackle on my toes... but that was wonderful, it was OPI and I LOVE it. So cute. Red and white - perfect for Christmas! So back to my nails, we move over to the manicure chairs after my pedicure is finished... She's still trying to talk me into the gel, btw, I'm still saying, "no, thanks". I take a phone call, while on the phone, she starts the manicure - applies what I believe to be regular clear coat and we're about to be done... then she tells me to put my hand under the light... I see the clear coat bottle she is using, it says something about UV gel - first of all it is NOT OPI. Secondly, I never consented to it. THIS is probably when I should have spoken up... I, however, do not like confrontations and I wasn't entirely sure if she was going in the direction that I thought she was, with the gel french manicure.. that I never said I wanted... all the while I'm still on the phone. She begins to apply the white tip... Again, I never said I wanted the gel nails. I continuously said, "no, thank you, maybe next time, etc". These people do NOT listen. I had a friend with me, also her first and last time, another lady was doing her manicure and attempted to do the same thing with her and the gel only she jerked her hands back and said, "No, I simply want a manicure." And then the lady doing her manicure became rude and short with her. This isn't even the worst part. While signing my credit card slip, the woman who did my nails stood over me and stared at me. I'm sorry but that is incredibly rude. So, I tipped her. I realize, I overpaid and never said a word and all of this is my fault, I should have spoken up and did not, but that is why I am writing this review so that others will not find themselves in my predicament. Still not the worse part... Today is Sunday, 11/20, I received my pedicure and gel nails on Sat 11/12 - My nails have been gummy since day one, the woman doing the french manicure did not do a professional job drawing the white tips... the line was hideous in same places. (She was kind enough to go back and rub out a rough spot for me after missing it while looking over my nails. I'll give her credit for that.) And worst of all... the polish, or gel, began peeling today and because of how thick it is, I had to take it off... it was catching on everything.. several nails, not just one. I was charged $80 for great looking toes, a terrible nail job (one that I did not request) and that only lasted 8 days. I recently moved to the area and was in desperate need of a pedicure. After searching online, I found this place with a clear price board and figured it would be less likely to get pushed into something I didn't want. I went in with low expectations and came out with nicely painted toes. The man that did my pedi was on the phone the entire time and when I said I wanted the callous remover, I'm pretty sure I didn't get it. He did carry my flip flops and my purse over to the UV light dryer so that was nice. Traveled over an hour to spend time with a friend. Checked out Yelp for a good rating location and came across Nails Galaxy. By far one of the worse visits I've ever experienced in a nail salon. The lady that was fixing them was alright at first and after she fixed them she tells me not to come back anymore. Excuse me?! Ridiculously rude guy who completely did nothing similar to what I showed him I wanted for both my toes AND nails, completely off color than I showed him and then for My nails I told him I wanted it almond shaped instead of the coffin shape shown in picture, he LITERALLY started arguing with me because it was coffin in the pic, not almond. Male nail tech was kind of rude. More upsetting, the metal tool he used to clip my cuticles was pulled from his drawer, NOT a sterile pack like they are supposed to be using.
