What a strange name for a nail salon, huh? I don't get it. Anyways, this is my go-to location for pedi's, mainly because it's approx 20 steps from my apartment. It's cheap, and quick, and they do a good job. I always see people in there, which to me is a good thing. I think a pedi typically runs me $20 or so. Note: to make it go even quicker, just ask them to skip the 'leg massage'. It hurts so much anyways, they are aggressive. read more

This again is very unprofessional. I've been here three times mainly because it's the closet salon from me. They do not care about their customers and will talk about about them to their other customers. Yes their prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for. They don't really have a wide selection of colours and don't do any special designs or add-ons. The last time I was there the credit card machine wasn't working. I had to walk all the way back to the ATM. I usually get an acrylic fill in and every time they filed my nails they would cut me and I would bleed. They just pretended I to not see it. If I could get this place no stars I would. I needed to get my gel extensions off and stopped by to ask if somebody could do it. Some lady ended up doing it and she rushed through the whole thing in practically did what I could've done at home. Ripped off my whole nail practically made me gush blood and then asked for $10. She literally put no effort into soaking it with acetone or anything like that but instead just ripped off the extensions. Something I could've easily done at home. read more

I have been here two times. I usually go to the little nail place at the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall, but since this place was on my way home and it looked busy i decided to give it a try. The first time i went I got a mani-pedi. I wanted french for my hands and the top color for my toes. Simple enough, right? Well I think much got lost in translation. The lady who was doing my pedi was very cuticle-cuter friendly. She took off ALL possible cuticles to the point my toes where still sensitive a week later. Then she layered on so much polish, my nails wouldn't dry! The lady who did my nails had to then remove the nail polish and re-paint them. This added 20 more minutes. Since my pedi took so long, they had closed down the front door waiting on me and another customer. When i went to pay they did not take credit cards. So, I hat to walk to Bank of America in my yellow disposable flip flops to get cash. Yes, seriously. The second time I went in to get my eyebrows waxed--the lady who does the waxing did an OK job. Hi, first of all I've been going there for a long time they are getting very lazy with nails and feet. They don't do lashes well. They are racist towards black people I was so shocked. Lynn was acting all tough with teenagers and said I don't want" you people " here no more none of your family, just because she did horrible work on my niece and daughter's lashes. I will tell everyone I know to not go there they don't like black people. I'm very angry and disappointed mind you I spent plenty money there for years I pay my own way never nothing free and I also tipped well. the pamphlet i picked up today at Nails Spa reads: "Nails Spa by Time offers a warm, calm and comfortable environment where every client is made to feel welcome and well-cared for by professional, efficient and friendly service.... priding themselves on providing personal service at reasonable prices that allows their clients to feel relaxed and pampered every time." about the only phrase true in that excerpt is "reasonable prices." pros: location- right in brigham circle, steps away from the E line, or the #39 stops right at its doors. yes, it's a mere skip and a hop down the hill for me, so it's going to be my nail salon whether i like it or not. pricing- reasonable is right. i got myself a french manicure for $15, and can get a pedicure for $23. other prices: full set of acrylic $27 (fill $17), full set of white tips $30 (fill $17), pedicure w/ french $28, manicure + pedicure w/french $43. efficiency- these ladies know what they're doing, and they do it fast and right. i was in and out with a job well-done within an hour. cons: attitude- here's my beef with the place... their attitude. the most important thing, i think, when getting your nails done is the atmosphere. you're doing something nice for yourself, and you want to relax and yes, feel pampered. you don't want attitude from the lady doing your nails, and you certainly don't want them to treat you like a floor they happen to have to mop for the umpteenth time. that's exactly how i felt. now, i know she was probably tired on a saturday afternoon and all, but jeez lady i just wanted my nails done in peace. you didn't have to treat me like something the cat dragged in! she did her job, i'll give her that... but it didn't make me feel relaxed or pampered. i shake my fist (nicely manicured and all) at yee Nails Spa by Time and give you only 3 stars for service. i will be coming back though, and hopefully next time i'll get a better attendant. read more

I'm really disappointed! It seems all of the ladies that used to work here have moved on and they have a brand new staff. Although my nails look great- the experience wasn't up to par. I was intrigued that it was a younger guy doing my nails.. and I was open to it. BUT- he was very rough with the process and made me bleed twice, and then squirted alcohol on it which made it burn painfully. Not fun. The massages that used to be incredible involved basically putting lotion on my skin and letting it set in (not even a foot massage for a few seconds..) The music was off for most of my visit which leaves awkward silences- and overall I was just not relaxed or enjoying the experience at all. If you're looking for a luxurious spa experience, this place is not it. If you're looking for a fast, cheap, and QUALITY manicure, this place is IT. They say you can't have all three things-- fast, cheap, and quality. Well, this place breaks that. Missy is great. She does a great gel manicure and it's only $25. She paints close to the cuticle, doesn't put it on too thick, shapes the nails great, and really listens to what you want (trust me, I'm kind of picky). She gave me the best gel manicure I've ever gotten. It lasted three weeks. THREE! The only reason I took it off was because my nails were getting so grown out. The place definitely is not super well kept but all of the tools are clean. Wonderful. I've been getting pedicures here for a while, and yesterday I went in to get the new OPI gel manicure. I had previously gotten one of these manicures at a HORRIBLE salon on Newbury and that $35 manicure started to peel after only a few days, after many promises from the owners that my manicure would last for weeks. Anyway, the woman who did my nails here was amazing. I didn't get her name, but she was thorough, easy to chat with, and did an incredible job. Not a beauty spa. Not a place to be pampered for hours in a soothing environment, despite what their pamphlet apparently says. This place is, however, a great cheap place to get your (toe)nails done. Pedicures are one of my guilty pleasures. These ladies do a good job, they have always been friendly to me personally, and it's cheap--so cheap that I often leave an outrageous tip. Do not bother making an appointment 1. It's first come first serve- I had an appointment at 3 and wasn't helped until 3:20 & 2. They do an awful job & mischarge customers. The lady charged me 26 dollars for a fill, but as I left I noticed the pricing menu clearly states 20 for a fill, 23 for a fill & shape. So technically I came in with coffin nails, but she didn't refuse the sides to keep the shape so really I should've been charged 20 but I overheard her coworker say coffin when she walked by so I wasn't going to be difficult. When getting change she seemed to be fidgeting, so perhaps she pocketed the extra money in addition to my tip? She claimed it was Bc she filed my nails... isn't that implied in a fill in? Nail Spa is the BEST salon!! I am always very pleased with my gel manicures; always done very neatly and professionally. The staff are always very accommodating too; they will always tell you that you can come in for service. Beware of coming on busy days/times though, especially weekends. If you don't have an appointment, you will often wait for close to an hour on these days. One star off because yes, it's true that the supposedly "broken" credit card machine is an on-going issue. It does seem that the staff are just trying to get cash payments and tips. I live in the mission hill area and have always passed by this nail salon. It wasn't until a few months ago that I decided to give it a try. To be fair I have never actually gotten my nails done here. I have gotten a pedicure once actually and it was great. They were really thorough and my feet looked awesome! (Trust me they needed it!) It was summer time and the color stayed bright and unchipped for over 2 weeks! I do however consistently get my eyebrows done here every two weeks. Again the woman who does them is very thorough, she takes her time and shapes my difficult eyebrows very nicely. They have always been really nice and professional and it's pretty cheap. I came here for a gel french manicure, and I do not imagine I'll be going back any time soon. I got the manicure on a Friday, the woman who did my nails was very nice and we had a nice conversation, very friendly atmosphere. However, I noticed on Sunday that 3 of my nails had very noticeable chips, kind of crazy since gel manicures should last around 2 weeks. Since I work across the street, I popped in on Monday after work and told them what happened. The owner told me to come in the next morning around 10 and they would fix it for me. When I went in at 10, the girl was not there and apparently had some sort of emergency. Instead of having someone else fix the manicure for me, she took down my phone number and said they would call when the girl returned. I finally got the call around 4:00 and went back. I was a bit surprised with how she "fixed" the manicure, she simply painted over the chipped areas. At this point I decided not to say anything and just not return. Once she finished, it was pretty easy to see where she did her editing. I'll look for somewhere else from now on. read more

I found myself in Mission Hill and with an unexpected hour to kill. They looked clean and told me they could take me then. The pedicure was fine, nothing amazing but not the worst I've had. My complaint is about the manicure. I asked for a mani/pedi and they gave me a polish change/pedi. I asked several times for the manicure was told by my nail tech that she was giving me a manicure. I've never had a manicure where they didn't soak my nails and do something with my cuticles. When she only charged me for a polish change I realized that she was trying to rush me out of her station. And now, two days later, the polish is already chipping and bubbling in the middle of the nail. Thanks but no thanks. read more

A few weeks ago I had gotten a manicure here (during a Friday) and due to long lines, I didn't feel very relaxed or pampered while having my nails done. I appreciated the way they used multiple layers of polish to prevent chipping, and the actual polish job was fine. My main concern was that the brochure says that there would be a hand and arm massage, and the one that I received left much to be desired (less than a minute on my hands, and no arm massage to speak of). If you want to have a more relaxing experience, go during a Monday or Tuesday when it's less crowded. You won't feel like you're being rushed out. read more
