I came here for eyebrow wax and french manicure. I was really happy with the result. I got Lynn to do my eyebrow and I got one of the guys to do my nail. The total came out to be $25 for both nail and wax, which was very cheap compared to the place in Chinatown that I used to go. I'm extremely happy with the result. I also noticed that Lynn also does eyelash extensions too. She had many clients waiting to get their lashes done on that day. I will come back to try out the eyelash extensions soon. read more

This nail salon is conveniently located right at Brigham Circle which is only a few minutes from my school and my apartment. I have gotten my eyebrows waxed here a few times and they do a phenomenal, clean job! The first few times I had them waxed by the older lady who is amazing. Last time I went she wasn't in so I had someone else wax my eyebrows. I'm a very picky person and I always need my eyebrows done a certain way so I was nervous to have someone else do them but amazingly she also did an amazing job! Plus, it's only 10 bucks which is basically pocket change compared to many other places in Boston. The only downside is that they put you in a swivel office chair to wax (???) and they double dip sometimes which is a health violation. I really want a Brazilian wax but seeing the room that they wax you in...I would probably pass, but it's great for eyebrows! read more

First time going today and I had a very nice time. I was greeted at the door with smiles from Tim and he did my pedicure for me. He was pleasant and did a good job! The pedicure was $22 which seemed like a decent price and they accepted my credit card. The place was clean, the people were nice and in my time spent there, it was clear that they had some regular loyal customers. I will definitely be going back for my nail/waxing needs. This place is just soooo bad. I came here to get my acrylics taken off. The older grandma lady who works there came back with a box of nail tips and I was confused because I was asking her to remove my acrylics. She proceeds to take a tip from the box, take the pointy end and try to shove it between my acrylics and my real nail. Um excuse me? She went at it and her hand slipped and the sharp edge of the tip slid under my nails and punctured me. WTF! I asked her what she was doing and she immediately stopped and then filed down the top of my acrylics and had me soak them. Idk why she didn't just take a dremel and remove a layer of the acrylics. Eventually another lady comes and tries to wipe the acrylics off with a paper towel? I was so confused. Then they sent me to a third lady who used a dremel. She then decided to cut the nails on one of my hands all the way to the skin while leaving the other hand to have long nails and said I was done. I asked her why and she said she would fix them but she had another client to help. Needless to say, I left and cut my nails myself when I got home since they don't seem to know how to do their job properly. read more

I had Jimmy doing my pedicure which was great. He talks a bit and is friendly. While he did the pedicure another man did my manicure. Both turned out great, both French and total was $41. Only drawback was when getting rid of cudicles went too deep on one toe and it still hurts. Manicure has lasted for almost a week before peeling at a few edges. read more

I don't know how it took me this long to decide I will never go back. I go because it's close to my work. The staff is so rude, especially the lady who runs it. They're not very clean at all, I never see them sanitize anything. Today I had an appointment and waited 20 minutes, no apologies at all. I've been going there since they opened. Very convenient location. Lynn, Ana (who is no longer there, unfortunately) is wonderful. Jimmy is also great if you can get him. I don't normally like men doing my mani's, but he is excellent and a great conversationalist! Place initially was spotless, and it still is somewhat so, but looking shabby. They do an awesome job if you want waxing. My eyebrows never looked so good! tDefinitely a language barrier, but you get used to it. They also have China Glaze and Essie nail polish, which I both love, along with the requisite OPI, which I don't (chips easily). One more thing, better to go as a walk-in. They don't deal well with appts. Because they have a huge walk in population, they can't really accommodate booked appts. Also, watch where you are in the line as a walk in and don't be afraid to speak up if they take someone who came in after you ahead of you. read more

I've gotten my nails done there a few times (pedicure and manicure), and they've come out pretty good (also, they have a great deal on pedicures monday-wednesday). However, I got my eyebrows done there once and it was the worse waxing experience I've ever had. I told her just to clean them up and keep my shape (which were somewhat thick and pretty arched). After she's done, I look at them and they're completely different. Just two thin straight lines across my eyes with no arch whatsoever. They looked horrible. Not only that, the wax they used was discusting and unclean. And the next morning I realized she had waxed off a layer of skin, which scabbed over and stayed for a few days. TERRIBLE I've been here twice before, both times for eyebrow and upper lip waxing. The first time was a satisfactory experience but the last time was THE worst salon visit I've ever had in my life. I was being helped by a rather elderly lady who, despite three waxing attempts and 40 minutes of my time, just couldn't get off all the hair on my upper lip AND eyebrows. When I politely pointed that out (I'm very particular about not upsetting those who handle my food and my face) she storms out of the room with no warning and starts complaining to her co-worker in what I assume is Vietnamese. By her tone it was apparent that she was saying something along the lines of me being a difficult customer. Her co-worker walks in and without so much as an apology asks me how thin I'd like my eyebrows. At this point my skin was pretty inflammed and irritated but I was somewhat happy the the lady was able to finally get out all the hair. I left the salon with my upper lip a deep red, which remained so for the rest of the day. The next day I woke up to find red scabs all over my upper lip and under my left eyebrow. Now I don't have sensitive skin and for my skin to be freaking out like that is a sign of how incompetent the elderly lady was. Overall I found the service to be absolutely horrible, and the personnel to be beyond unprofessional, so much so that I felt the need to create a yelp just to write this review. I was a good customer to them, went almost every 2 weeks the entire summer.. I went to get a mani pedi for a friend's wedding and next thing I know my toe is infected. Pus coming out of it and everything. Not only does it hurt a lot, but I had to go to urgent care and get antibiotics for it. 7 days worth. To top it off, when I went to tell them what happened at the salon, they refused to acknowledge it. The WORST - unfriendly, unclean and mismanaged. My friend and I made appointments for Gel Manicures. We arrived on time and were seated with the color samples. I sat and watched while walk-ins were seated and services were started. To make a long story short, 50 minutes later I was still waiting for someone to polish my nails. When I said I would come back later they said to sit down it would only take 5 minutes. I did not want a rush job so I walked out. They insisted I pay $10 for the polish removal. The younger lady of the only two ladies who do eyebrows tore my skin while ripping off the wax. She's extremely passive aggressive. I USED to go in twice a month. One month I didn't tip her because she took someone before me. Two weeks later she was really nice to me but when she got me in the chair, she ripped and plucked my skin it was so painful, OMG! When It was over, she exited the room complaining with her co-worker about me in Vietnamese. That's the second time she did this so GOOD BYE! they do nails nicely but customer service is atrocious. upon asking for help finding a color i was scolded for asking the nail tech for her opinion on what matches my skin tone better. the nail techs often act as if they do not understand your question if they do not want to fill your request. I have gone a few times out of convenience and upon leaving i have said thank you and got no response. these women are very rude and give off an entitled energy that we are at their mercy as customers. i am always polite and i kept my conversations very short whenever i got services. i have witnessed unhappy customers lash because the nail techs are very short and sassy with their responses. lets just say they got lucky with their location read more

I used to go to this salon regularly for about three months and to this day, I'm not sure why I did. The customer service is poor, the employees do not engage in small talk with their customers because they're busy talking to each other in Vietnamese and overall, unprofessional. There is not enough lighting in the salon, which makes getting a mani or pedi- a risk. Last week, I went in for a mani/pedi at 6pm (booked an appointment), wasn't seen until 6:30 and did not end up leaving until 8:30. As I left, they said that they would do a better job the following day if I wanted to come in. When I got home (2-3 min walk), my nails smudged and I was highly disappointed. The next day, they gave me a hard time when I asked for them to give me another manicure and that's when I knew this salon is not the place for me. I came here on 8/13 with a friend and there was barely a wait. There were only 2 ladies working, but they took me and friend anyway for a fill and a pedicure. After waiting for about an hour to get taken, we were about to leave. When one of the ladies saw us get up to leave, she took my friend. My friend waited about 30 minutes to get her nails started, while I was still waiting to get taken. After about 1 1/2 hours, our nails were finally done. We asked if they still had time for a pedicure and they said to sit down in the chair and they would be over soon. After waiting about an hour, someone finally came over to do my toes. While we were still waiting, the ladies kept taking more customers who were finished before we were. 2 hours later, our toes were finally done. A pedicure and fill for 2 girls does not take more than 5 hours... our biggest problem with it all was that the ladies working should not have taken us if they knew they couldn't handle it. At the end of it all, we only got a $5 discount. After arguing, they gave us $8 off. That still was not worth any of it. I dropped in and asked if I could get an eyebrow wax. They said they could and had me sit. About 10 minutes later, they had sit in another room and I waited for another 10 minutes. Then I overhead a conversation that this woman was going to give me the wax after she is done doing someone's pedicure. She had just started and it was going to take at least another 30 minutes for me to get a 5 minute eyebrown wax. They have no problem having you wait and wait. They should let customers know in advance if it is going to be an extended wait time. I would have been happy to come back at a later time with a shorter wait. Years ago, I used this salon and stopped going for the same reason. They do not care about your time. They should be honest up front about the wait time. Worst experience ever. I was going there for over a year, and prices always varied based on who I got. I always got a acrylic fill. They aren't very clean either. I took my friend and we waited over an hour and half and then it was closing and they wouldn't take me, so i gave them another chance and went back the next morning. I waited for over an hour again. And several people cut me in line. Then when i finally sat down the lady kept getting up and disappearing. When she finally got back she told me it was going to be extra money on my fill to cut my nails.... TO CUT MY NAILS. I actually walked out. And never went back. This nail salon is very difficult to review-- I've been four times in the past year and had a different experience each time. Overall, the quality of the manicures is fantastic. Two regular mani's and two gels mani's that have lasted much longer than other salons. With gel manicure at $25, it's very reasonable. And that's the best thing I can say about this place. The customer service at Nail Spa by Time is horrendous; I'm almost positive they are breaking health code violations; and you will wait at least 15 minutes for an appointment, walk-in or scheduled. There were still filings/clippings on the table from the person before me, and I never saw my nail technician put the utensils in disinfectant. Dirty towels are piled on top of a basket in the back of the salon, some of the chairs are ripped, and almost all of the gel bottles have leftover polish around the edges. It just feels dirty. The technicians don't really welcome you, give you an estimated wait time, or talk to you at all. The only thing the male technician said to me was "relax your hand." If you are looking for luxury or spa-services, this is not your place. They are making their money off lunchtime and after work crowds. I keep going for the quality of my nails, but for a relaxing full-service manicure, I go elsewhere. read more

Although the location is very convenient at Brigham Circle, this place isn't worth even their reasonable pricing. Gel manicures don't last more than a week, pedicures are super fast, and their service stinks. Everyone has to sign in for services when you arrive but they take their known customers and never look at the list to see who's next. I've done several mani's and pedi's there due to the convenience only but will never go back. My last service was an eyebrow wax and I'm 3 months out from it and still trying to grow out my poor eyebrows. They will wax everything off into a straight line. I go to this salon when I am at work and in a bind. But today was the last time I will ever go there. I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE that they lie about the credit card machine not working, this has been going on for about 5 years now. After it took 2 hours to get a mani/pedi making me late back to work, I handed them a credit card and the machine was broken until... they saw I had cash in my hand for a tip, the machine miraculously started to work again! Why do my reviews about this place keep disappearing? I only go here for my eyebrows to be waxed. Lynn does a great job however, be very careful to NEVER anger her. Lynn has a very bad temper and you will never know what sets her off. Once, she took someone before me, after seeing me I told her no tip because of it. Next time I came in, she remembered the no tip and purposefully was rough and pinched my skin, I was in the chair for about 3 minutes, RIDICULOUS! I am a Black female . I've been going to Nail spa by time for about 2yrs. The service has always been wishy washy but I kept going because the owner lynn who does my eyelashes did a good job. Today I was absolutley furious to find out that my freinds were right when they told me about racisim in the spa . I was led to the back room at 2:15pm my eyes were taped and lynn left to go do someones eyebrows . she came back 15 min later. At this point she put on approximately 3 lashes and left again. 20 min later I decide to go check out the situation to find her doing a white clients pedicure. I asked her why would she tape my eyes and have me sit there like that and that it was bad customer service no reply and what piss me off the most is she would not even look at me she did not acknowledge the i was standing there talking to her no apology not even a blank stare. She just kept doing the white womans pedicure I was so upset after walking out I called her back to let her know that was unexeptable she would not even spaek to me , an apology would have done ,yet I got none. This place is no luxurious experience, but I can't complain too much. Like others have said, this place is really chaotic. It isn't pretty in any way, but there are always a lot of technicians. They sometimes tell you that the CC machine is broken but I think they just always accept cash only (it's been that way for 2+ years that I have been stopping in). Since I work near Brigham Circle, this is convenient (there aren't really any other nail salons in walking distance) but calling ahead is a must, otherwise you will wait forever. I have never gotten waxed here, and never will, as I have heard from other people that they double dip their wax sticks! Big NO NO! However, on other sanitation observations, they always provide me with clean tools just removed from the sanitation machine and clean the tubs really well after each use. Pedicures and gel manis are thorough. Bottom line, this isn't my #1 choice, but when I'm in a bind, I know I can get a decent mani/pedi. AVOID for waxing though. read more

I've been going to this nail salon for about a year now. It's a convenient location on the T (green line Brigham Circle) but even better for me because I work in the area. I stop in to get my nails and eyebrows done during lunch. I usually call ahead of time (because I hate waiting) and I'm in and out with a refill in about 45 minutes. Peter is my buddy who does a fantastic job! And he's the sweetest man! Lynn is the eyebrow Queen. About 6 months ago, she managed to talk me into letting her do my eyebrows. I was reluctant because I had been going to the same person for about 10 years now. I am very picky about my eyebrows (girls, you know how hard it is to grow eyebrows out!). So, I took a chance because I was desperate that night and I was shocked at how well she arched it, tweezed and trimmed. Just as good and cheaper than my old place. Can I give this place a big fat zero?? I had my nails done by Susan on 9/21/16. I flat out told her I had enough cash for her tip, then the bill goes on my card. She heard what I said and understood me (she told me she grew up in Boston and was bilingual). As I went to pay her, I was the last customer in the salon. I handed her the cash for her tip and my credit card for the bill. She said their "machine was broken" and could only take cash and that she told me this already. She NEVER told me I could not use my credit card or that their machine was "broken". I would never have had my nails done there!! Since she had already completed my services, I had to go to a foreign bank, pay $3.50 for the fee to get cash out and returned to pay my bill. A guy at the salon took my money, put it in his wallet and gave me my change. Total and complete SCAM!!! Not only was I lied to and treated completely unprofessionally, they pocketed my money! They are avoiding paying taxes!!! It appears I am not the only customer to be treated this way and that they pulled this on.
