Kim the owner is unprofessional and dishonest. I came today for a pedicure and I asked Kim if she had availability to take me in. She told me she did so then I sat and waited for almost 2 whole hours, when it's my turn she tells me she doesn't have space to take me in because she has to leave. What? That is ridiculous. Why didn't she tell me in the first place that she couldn't take me in. She made me wait almost 2 whole hours just to tell me she didn't have time for me. Last week when I told him my nails were sensitive and not to use the drill to remove polish . He still did and when I told him he was hurting me. He got up and left and when kim his wife finished my toes ,she had to do my nails. Kim was tired. Cut one toe nail so short my toe hurt and it hurts like hell when she starts dealing with ingrown toe nails. Plus I got my lip waxed and the wax was cold and it was not a good job. I've been coming here for a couple years mostly for pedicures, because Kim does a good job. I recently started getting my nails done again after years of not doing them. Her husband does an okay job on them. I went in recently and got my fill done I accidentally moved and messed up one of my nails. I apologized, but her husband gave me an attitude about it, & it's actually not the only time he gives me an attitude. I honestly think he's burnt out, and they need more workers. He shouldn't speak to clients the way he spoke to me. I've also seen him arguing with Kim about an other client one time. He just overall isn't nice. He should just quit let his wife run the business with other employees. I've been going to this place for ten years. Since covid this place has really gone downhill, the service has been poor every time I go. If I make an appointment I'm still made to wait for 20 minutes after being on time. The light fixtures need new bulbs, the chairs require refurbishing. The couple who run the shop are sweet but they have let this place go on to become dingy. Review writing is an unethical paid career these days. Having owned a marketing company for years I can spot a fake review at once. There are three giveaways: (1) The same complainer and/or identical complaint shows up in more than one place online. It's overkill. (2) One-Star reviews are usually false, especially when others are 5-Star for the same merchant. Most people are not mean enough to post one star. (3) Testing the service or product yourself proves the bad reviews false. Nailworks would never have remained open this many years if their work was one-star quality. Lastly, bad reviews are most often posted by or for (1) another merchant wishing to harm their competition down the street, or (2) a past employee with a grudge after being dismissed for bad workmanship. read more

I had been coming to this shop for about four months... unfortunately yesterday I had an absolutely unbelievable experience. There were red flags every time I would go here but they were affordable and they did a decent job so I stuck with them. Yesterday I scheduled an appointment for two people, and one guy was switching back-and-forth doing our Manis. Which turns our appointment into over two hours. I understand they're low on stuff but they should not be scheduling this way. The man doing my manicure shaped my nails and then went to start painting and I asked him if he was going to clean up my hang nails and give me a manicure like I was paying for it and he said that I was not paying for a manicure only a gel fill... also he put acrylic powder randomly on my bare nails with no tips?! Confusing but ok.. when I confronted him about the manicure he said it would be an extra $15 on top of the 45 I was already paying and when I said that you've never charged me that before he stood up and started screaming. There were two other ladies in the shop as well as my roommate and everybody was blown away. He proceeded to yell, and the other nail tech was trying to calm him down, but not defending me and I was like you know what we're done here I can pay you for what you've done, but we're not doing the manicure and he proceeded to continue going off the rails. I'm not going to have a nail tech yelling at me or scamming me into paying more money. Horrible scam of a nail salon who can't even do a French tip. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I went to get a full set of gel X and they lasted 3 days when they started falling off it was new year weekend I wasn't in the city to go get them fix so i had my own glue and i glued them back but of course im not a professional so they don't look nice i went back to the nail salon 6 days later so he can fix them for me and the man is so rude he said he never had this issue and he wasn't going to fix them for free i paid $80 dollars and this man didn't even want to fix his poor quality job unbelievable don't waste your time and money on this location i learned my lesson no wonder he never has any clients waiting for him. read more

I went in there because it was close to my job. The husband took me and his wife said they can do a French tip fill for $55 and when he saw my nails he said they were too long and he was going to charge me more money for them. I asked him how short do they need to fit them to be $55 and he cut the pinky part after he filed the nail it ended up being so short and the same length as my actual nail. I got upset and asked if he could replace the nail he cut with a new acrylic nail and he got upset and start becoming hostile. So his wife ended up taking me and her work was really bad I ended up having to talk her through what I wanted and ended up sitting here in the chair for almost 3 hours. I was on the verge of tears the whole time sitting there. When she was starting to paint the French tip it looked awful. My pinky was so crooked and she kept saying it was fine. I told her I didn't like it so I showed a picture on what it was supposed to look like and she ended up walking away to take another client. Her husband corrected her work and it ended up looking a little better at the end and I was not paying full price for that experience. I wanted my money back and they refused to give it to me. I went from being a long time customer to "I'm going to find a new nail salon." This establishment went from a "walk in welcome" location to a call before you come place. I recently came needed a pedicure- only for them to tell me they "don't have the time" when 2 people were not assisting anyone. Apparently they only do appointments when it still clearly states they do "walk in welcomes" so the man had an appointment and when I asked if the other woman could assist they said she couldn't because she had an appointment coming. They are also one of the few that does a good job on chrome nails for a great price. (Can I say again I'm absolutely OBSESSED with my chrome nails! They gave me the worst acrylics of my life . The same day I had them done by an older man I had a nail break . The next few days I had 4 more nails break !!! I never in my life had this happen before. My nails last me almost a month . I came in to get them fixed and they tried telling me that they're "busy and come back later " . They only had ONE person there and the other one getting mani / pedi/ was ANOTHER employee !!! Very poor customer service. I was very excited to find a place close to my house with parking and stays open later on Sunday. I walked in to see if they could take off my Arcrylics and also asked the prices on mani and pedi. He instructed me to sit in the chair and was going to begin the process. I told him that I'd just like the Arcrylics removed at this time as I had planned and would come back later for mani and pedi. "Pay 5 bucks more and go to a better place." I chose to come here because it's so close to my work, but I always questioned the cleanliness of their tools. Also, they're not the friendliest people. Nevertheless, I just kept coming because it was so convenient. Today, I made an appt at 2:30pm, and when I arrived, they told me that they were busy with other customers and gave me two options. (They weren't even apologetic) To wait 30 more minutes or get it done by someone else. I needed to go to a rehearsal dinner right after, so I just chose to stay and get it done by a male manicurist. Long story short, he gave me two cuts on my pinky and ring finger while filing my nails. It bled and stung so bad, but I needed to get it done with. One cut started swelling up, and it started hurting so much. And when I told him, he said if I wanted to stop. And I told him that I didn't want the cut to get infected. And that was that, he started cleaning up his supplies, and just left me there. Stunned, I just got up and left too. Seriously, pay 5 dollars more and find a cleaner, more friendly place! Is there an option for Zero stars?  Maybe negative stars?? Well, considering you asked "what else you got?", here goes. My wife just went in to Nail Works and Spa for her first nail appointment in a while.  Her nails were a bit of a mess and she has been self conscious of them for some time. Unfortunately she works extremely long hours in a corporate job so she does not have the time to have nail appointments on cue. So, lets get right to this!  Upon going into this dreadful establishment, she was met by a male nail professional (not in on the correct lingo) and she promptly sat down and got ready for the appointment. Once they established that she needed "French tips", he decided that it was in his best interest to lift her hands up and laugh and show the other customers how bad her nails had become, making a complete mockery out of her, so much so that other customers commented on how unprofessional it was and that he should stop immediately. Unfortunately this did not seem to deter him whatsoever and he continued to roll on with his ass hole move.  Eventually my wife decided to leave, wet nails and all because she couldn't handle to be in there any longer. Upon hearing about this, I picked up the phone to get in touch with a manager, only to find that they A) don't have a manager, and B) don't seem to value customer service. So - here's what I want to see from this crummy establishment. 1)  I want a full refund sent immediately 2)  I want a written apology from said guy who did her nails 3)  I want a manager (if they have one) to contact her and get further details and make a decision whether this nail guy is really worth having on her team. read more

I use to get gel extensions but stopped cause they were just too expensive to justify for nails! I went back to getting acrylics and went here because they are close to my apartment. Surprisingly in LA it's difficult to find places that do just basic acrylic sets. Well this place does and they do a great job for SUCH an affordable price. When most beauty services in LA cost an arm and a leg it's soooo nice having found a spot that is affordable and still very good quality. They do a really really good job here, very meticulous and thoughtful. They are also SO nice and friendly. Every time I go they strike up a warm a conversation with me. I don't get my nails done often but when I do this place was/is the place I would always come to. But tonight is the last time I'm going to be coming here. Everything was going good until the lady who did my pedi took my crocs up to the register. I was trying to hand her my card beforehand but she told me to let my nails dry longer. I tried to hand her my card again, this time she snatched my card from me and still was holding on to my shoes. Placed them on the floor by the register. I don't know what she was trying to insinuate but it made me feel really weird. As if I was trying to run off without paying. I was going to give her a chunky tip until she did that. I'm not going to tell you to not come here, completely up to you but I know this will be my last time. As business owners you have to be careful with how you treat your customers. I came in for a fill and to replace my index finger nail. I was charged $45. it was so off to the side and so much bigger and longer than the other so I asked him to make it even. he filed and then said ok now it's perfect... looks at the photos... it's so crooked and so much bigger than the other one I would usually give a place a second chance but I don't know how you can't notice how terrible this was. I didn't have time to get it fixed since my appt was at 5 and didn't get helped til 530 and didn't have time for a pedicure I was suppose to get either. bummer. read more

I love love this place... I refused to go anywhere else to get my nails done!!! The owners do everything so well; they'll turn on the massage chair on while you're getting your pedi done. They have so much patience when they're doing the nails, they're gentle with how they work. And once they're done with both mani and pedi they will massage them also! I went here once to get my acrylic nails (done at another shop) shortened and repainted. For a good price they fixed the nails I already had done, and figured that if I went back for other acrylic nails by them they'd do a good job too. My mother got me a giftcard, so I used half of it to get acrylic nails. By the second day I had them, half of them had broken practically all the way off because of how thin they were. The other half eventually cracked and were left in weird shapes that I had to cut as short as I could, but these were so thick they wouldn't peel off. I also have dents in my nails now, and am not quite sure what this can be attributed to. I have yet to use the other half of the giftcard, and don't know what to do with it. I'm upset I practically lost $34 and was left with nails spotted with acrylic. read more

"OWWWW," I said!!! I was getting a pedicure and she snipped off the side of the edge of my big toenail and pulled....probably to avoid an ingrown toenail, but I haven't had any in about 15 years??!! Well, she broke off the nail piece that she was pulling because I have an INGROWN toenail now and I am dyingggggg! I've been a regular here for more than 10years. Recently my dad stopped being able to drive. In order to keep things kind of normal for him, I offered to take him to volunteer on Saturday mornings at the La Brea Tarptis, like he has been for ages. Luckily, I found Nailworks as I was dropping him off this morning, as I was badly in need of a fill. I get a little nervous going into new nail places, as the prices seem to vary a lot and I'm never sure how clean any of them really are. The horror stories that you hear about are enough to freak anyone out! Nailworks seemed pretty clean to me, they were using plastic bag liners in their foot tubs, and the woman who did my fill wore this disposable latex thumb glove thing, something that at the very least protects HER if I'm clipped by the dremel thing and start to bleed or something. They had a lot of Essie and OPI colors, which was good because I realized that the color I brought wasn't a smart choice for my nails- I'm applying for jobs, and something more conservative than bright orange is probably best for now. Both of the nail techs were really nice, and it was quiet enough to relax in the spa. The leg massage that I got was actually kind of amazing, the place I've been going to lately is a little lazy on the leg massages. Best of all, a regular fill & regular pedi was $34. Do not come to this place. They do not follow COVID safety guidelines! They do your nails without gloves and do not disinfect the tools they have used on previous customers. Also, make sure the color you chose is the one YOU asked for. They tend to change the color and say that's what you wanted. Customer service is okay. Queenie is my go to girl! I've tried other places that are closer to me because it's convenient but they don't take their time to clean my nails like Queenie. My nails can be tore up sometimes and she finds a way to make them look cleaner and even. She also takes the time to make sure my nails are evenly painted. I've noticed other places aren't as neat when it comes to painting my nails. I highly recommend you to go to Queenie. I also remember Dianne cleaning my toes. I must say that this place really grows on you over time. I have been coming here for almost over 3 years for my acrylic and gel nails. They always do the superb job and my nails last longer than other places.
