I got into a minor car accident about a month ago... some dumb dumb banged my car while she was switching lanes... Anyways, I asked on fb where I should bring my car to get it fixed. Many of my friends recommended Nakamura Auto Body... glad I went because they did an excellent job on my car. I've never been in a car accident before so I didn't know what to do or what I was doing. I called Nakamura's right away, and I was assisted by someone on the phone. He asked me a few questions and told me what was needed to be done by my insurance company first. Then I called again after speaking with my insurance company, and then the guy told me to come down, and he'll go and take a look at my damages. I came down, and was greeted by the owner, Roy. He took a look at my car, took pics, and told me he'll contact me as soon as he figures out an estimate. He called a couple days later, and then told me to come down the following Monday to get my car fixed... he made sure I had a rental car in place, which my insurance company took care of. Came down on the appointment day, which was Monday, dropped off the car. I was expecting my car to take over a week to be repaired, but to my surprise, my car was ready the next day! I was shocked! I came by Wednesday to pick up my car, and when I saw the repairs, my car looked brand new! They even washed my car too!!! I'm so thankful for that because I hate washing my car. lol. Went for an estimate appointment dings, dents, scratches on front and rear bumpers, more significant issue was misalignment of bumpers from fenders probably dislodged from incidents causing dings and scratches. Since this was an older car, '07 Lexus ES 350 but only 51,000 miles, with no mechanical issues to speak of, I wanted to keep it a few more years, so I thought I could get it looking a little nicer rather than spending on a new car. Place seemed relatively small but neat, organized and clean, very professional. Impressive was having its own paint booth for whole body painting! Met two other workers prior to owner Mr. Nakamura (I'm assuming) who was on the phone and who would do the estimating. They were super nice and I felt very comfortable in their shop. I was about 10 minutes early so by the time Mr. Nakamura came out to see me he was perfectly on time! Extremely personable and professional he greeted me and we proceeded to look at my car, I pointing out what wanted him to look at. At first take he said just replacing the bumpers could cost as much as $5,000! But he continued to look and manipulate the bumpers. The front bumper was the more misaligned that he was more concerned about and sensing that, his worker who was working on something close by came over, looked, and began to manipulate the bumper and immediately said he could do it. After a few minutes of manipulating the bumper he significantly straightened out the dent, and used his strength to pull and push the bumper into alignment such that he could put it into perfect alignment again! The worker then went back to what he was working on, a pretty casual gesture, surely problem solving and collaboration a common part of the work culture here. We then went back to look at the rear bumper again since that had about a 5 inch dimple dent in it and a misalignment issue. He gave a more careful look at the misalignment to check if there was any unfixable damage, since replacement was dependent upon whether it could be reattached. Upon manipulating the bumper and giving it a good look he proceeded to realign the bumper and reattaching it to the fender, perfect fit again! I still asked him for an estimate to repair the dimple dent and any scratches, on the bumpers or if my car could use a new paint job. An earlier piece of conversation included Mr. Nakamura talking about car polishing and the improved polishes on the market. I believe he was referencing that my overall paint job was holding up really well for an older car so all it really needed was periodic polishing. Needless to say, he proved to be super honest and practical, for my benefit, advising me not to put any costly work in this older car, if I was not embarrassed having that dimple dent! I must say, after having the bumpers realigned made a significant improvement in the car's appearance. He recommended doing nothing more! And, he wouldn't even charge me for realigning my front and rear bumpers! All I can say is he had every opportunity to make some money off of me, but showed me how honest and professional he was as a business person, one who I wouldn't hesitate to do business with in the future! read more

Someone had damaged my driver side mirror and it needed to be replaced. Took my SUV to Nakamura Auto Body and although the part took awhile to get here(it was back ordered according to Servco), Roy called me as soon as he got it and had it installed that day. Took about a half hour and they did a great job. Roy, Glenn and the rest of the crew are really nice guys and very easy to deal with. I backed into a pillar at a parking garage. Had a blind spot and put a dent in my lift gate right on the badging. You couldn't even see it but, I knew it was there and it needed to be fixed. I stopped by this place because it was close and I was on a tight time frame so I didn't check out the reviews. Arrived and greeted after few mins. In early 2023 damaged my 2014 Hyundai Sonata by driving over a concrete block that I did not see. I backed up and did damage to my front end and both tires. I drove home and could hear grinding. I had gotten into an accident and was dreading calling my insurance for fear of my premium going up of course. A friend of my mother in law recommended Nakamura Autobody and of course I went to look on Yelp to see their review and got their info, called. I spoke with Glen, I explained my situation and he explained very nicely of his knowledge from what he hears of the damages to my car, recommended that I do call my insurance because the damage sounded extensive and that if I do prefer to get a quote first before hand, it is possible. Also despite the difficulties we're all facing with COVID-19, he agreed that I could leave my car there so that I didn't have to drive back and forth. The whole process was so fast. I called on the 7th, gave all the info they needed, dropped off my car on the 8th, called my insurance on the same day (DTRIC) who also works directly with them, they worked out the estimate and all nitty gritty, everyone was so good with communication. 4.5 years after my original review, I am updating my rating from three stars to five. The work they did on my car has held up well and the color match is better than body work I've had done after theirs at another body shop. My original review pointed out a deep scratch they missed on my girlfriend's car but the body work itself has held up well. After trying other body shops, I think Nakamura's is on the better end. We don't drive high end cars but I am meticulous with them. Body work we've had done on another car at Punchbowl looks absolutely terrible after 6 years and it started getting dull well before that. I think Nakamura's missing that scratch was just an honest mistake. They do good work. I realize that more so now that we've had our cars longer and they've needed work done for one reason or another, including a 90 year old lady driving the wrong way up King Street! I've had a chance to compare not only the quality but the longevity of Nakamura's work and they stack up very well. A family member just had a slight incident reversing into a stairwell and I will be sending her here to get an estimate and repair done. Her car is a 2013 so I would like to get the work done right since she will have the car for a long time to come. read more

I had bumper replaced as well as front quarter panel work. They called for pick up early. But when I saw the car, the mismatch was evident from 20 yards away! They had the car for 2 weeks called me early to see a substandard paint match Took it back. Again no match. Now they were trying to persuade me that their color cards matched. The wrong rear quarter panel was delivered, not their fault, but apologized profusely for the delay. They threw in a new inspection no charge.
