    Upscale restaurant in the heart of Belmont Shores. Extensive menu. Excellent food and the service is VERY TOP NOTCH! Nick's is our 'Go To' when we land in Long Beach. Tonight we had the french dip and buttermilk fried chicken. We'll be back soon to try the ribs and prime rib!

    We went to Nick's On 2nd for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday. We sat outside and Samatha was our server. She was impeccable! The service and food were phenomenal. We were impressed how amazing every thing was. I would recommend this restaurant and we will be back!

    With one night in Long Beach, so happy we choose Nick's for our get together. Shrimp Taquitos were delicious as was the Scottish Salmon and the center cut filet. Great Mixologist on staff, the martinis were consistent and "on point". Definitely recommend and encourage a reservation - place was at capacity. While it can obviously get a little loud, we opted for an outside table. In hindsight if conversation is center stage, perhaps inside despite the crowd may have been a better choice - as the roadside noise in Long Beach is not for the faint of heart. Ending with service. Having Jonathan take care of us was like winning the lottery, always present when you needed him - but never around when you didn't. 5-star service / 5-star food - will definitely be back and highly recommend.

    Nicks is always a five star experience! We had the Chilean Seabass and the San Francisco style cioppino with the most awesome sourdough garlic bread yummy! We had to get another round of bread just to dip in the soup! We never leave enough room for butter cake. I guess I need to get that sometime maybe just as my entire dinner. lol! Our server, Steven was awesome. He was super attentive and very nice. Did a great job!

    Food is top tier, drinks are phenomenal! The atmosphere is great. I've been here a few times now, girls night and date night. Had an absolute blast each time. Wait times can be pretty long. Each time we waited an hour and walked second street happily while we waited. Desert is also soooo good!

    OMG the Buttermilk Fried Chicken plate here is my absolute favorite! I keep coming back and ordering the same thing! The chicken, the mashed potatoes, the corn and the gravy are all equally as amazing and all the items compliment each other so well. I can't imagine ordering anything else when I come here.

    I love Nick's so when a friend invited me to go out to Long Beach, I recommended this location. This one is in the heart of Belmont Shores. The parking is like any other metro city...street or parking garage. It's got lots of different shops and restaurants nearby. We had a reservation so we were seated quickly. The server was very nice and friendly. She was helpful with selecting options from their menu. We landed on the fried chicken, prime rib dip and the shrimp taquitos. The chicken was crisp, juicy and flavorful. It came with mashed potatoes, biscuit and gravy. The prime rib dip was also good. The bread was notably fresh and soft. The shrimp taquitos were ok. This restaurant is pretty inside. They had a fireplace at the lobby and a pretty big bar at the front. Enjoyed our time here with friends!

    One of my all time favorite restaurants to go to's for a special occasion! The ambiance is filled with great energy, very welcoming atmosphere, and amazing service that we received by Devin! I had the Chilean Seabass which was prepared just right lil crispy on the outside and buttery inside on the side were delicious mashed potatoes, and spinach. I paired my dinner with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc! If you haven't been here, you won't be disappointed! I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Cheers

    I have been here one time before. And they have great food. However this time it went wrong. I know they were busy but we were seated outside and the waiters took our unused chairs even though they had other tables to take them from. So we ended up with not being able to put our stuff on the chairs but on the table. And we intentionally ordered food with no garlic and there was still garlic on it. We explained to the hostess and she said that it is a special recipe and they don't list all the ingredients....however yes you list if there is garlic in the food and it was a lot. Overall they have a nice ambiance but ending up sitting outside feeling down prioritized with left over food on the floor wasn't pleasant. They did however not charge us for the food after we expressed our concerned. That was the only thing that is going to make me come back and give them another chance.

    My fav go to restaurant. Servers are always attentive and accommodating. I love to order the Scottish salmon. Bistro plate is perfect if you want something light with a bang. Really loving the artichoke hearts when they're in season here! We come here for the butter cake to fill our sweet tooth. Great ambiance indoor or outdoor seating.

    Hannah at the bar was great! I was third on the waitlist and when I checked in, it was still 1 1/2 wait, which is pretty insane. I was there for a business dinner, but we definitely weren't trying to wait over an hour. But with the Long Beach Grand Prix going on- we didn't want to head to downtown . We didn't feel like walking around and trying to find another place so we decided to go to the bar and have a drink. Hannah, who works at the bar was very attentive and she was on the lookout for a couple of seats for us to be able to have dinner and a business conversation. Everything we had was delicious ( Chilean Seabass and top sirloin as main dishes, asparagus fries, and shrimp taquitos as appetizers, a dirty martini, and a margarita ) All bartenders all checked in with us, which was great thank you.!

    They don't offer vegan dishes they do have some vegetarian teams you can order but I suggest if your looking for a vegan meal try Seabirds I really like that place and it's a nice place to go for a date....

Our waiter was unprofessional throughout the entire experience. The first thing he did was insist on giving us a handshake. It wasn't a normal handshake it was extremely firm and uncomfortable to the point that my hand actually hurt afterward. It also felt inappropriate considering we were about to have dinner. As soon as he walked away, my husband looked at me and asked, "Did he squeeze your hand too?" I said yes because he had done the exact same thing to both of us. It immediately created an awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere. When we ordered our appetizers, we asked if our crab cakes could be prepared the way we've always ordered them during previous visits. His immediate response was, "Not today." He gave us a lengthy explanation about how they were too busy because it was Saturday. However, we've dined here many Saturdays before and have never had an issue. Eventually, he agreed to accommodate the request, but by then the interaction had already left a bad impression. His overall attitude and demeanor made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. He came across as rushed, dismissive, and almost as if he felt he was above us. We felt pressured to order before we were ready. When we asked for a little more time to decide on our entrees, he seemed irritated. Later, when we decided to order another item, he again gave us a hard time. At that point, we simply told him, "Never mind. We'll just stick with the appetizers." The entire experience was uncomfortable, and the negative energy completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a special Father's Day celebration. I spoke with the manager and explained everything that had happened. While he apologized, I left feeling as though my concerns were being dismissed rather than genuinely addressed. At that point, we decided to leave because Father's Day was already being ruined, and we didn't want to spend the rest of the evening feeling uncomfortable. Thankfully, we were able to get a table at RH Ocean Grill in Newport Beach, where we enjoyed a wonderful Father's Day dinner that lasted until 10:00 p.m. They completely turned our evening around. It's disappointing because we've always enjoyed dining here and have had many great experiences in the past. That's what made this visit even more surprising. It's unfortunate that such an important occasion was overshadowed by poor service, an unprofessional attitude, and a lack of concern when we brought our experience to management's attention.

My favorite was probably the Brussel sprouts as they were cooked to perfection and not sweet like most restaurants serve them. A close 2nd was the chicken parmesan served over zucchini noodles. The final item ordered was a mushroom pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were fantastic with a light char and perfect flavoring. The pasta was good. It was a bit to spicy for me with the chili oil so I only had a small portion. The inside is simple yet inviting with an open layout. They seemed a bit short staffed, but every one was hustling and honestly we were well taken care of. It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.

What made matters worse was that our server was not attentive with refilling our waters, and when you're working through an extremely salty dish, hydration isn't optional. I left the meal feeling dehydrated and honestly a little frustrated. The bright spot of the visit was the Brussels sprouts, which were genuinely well done and showed some real kitchen care. If I were to return, I'd probably stick to the vegetable sides. For a restaurant with a 4 PM lull and minimal table traffic, there's no excuse for that level of inattentiveness. A simple water refill and a quick check in would have saved the experience. As it stands, the combination of an over salted entrée and absent service made for a tough sell on the value. If you're in the area craving a burger, you might want to save your money and head down the street to Louis Burger instead. Ellie's may shine in other areas; I've heard good things about the pasta, but this particular visit missed the mark.

When we brought this to the manager's attention, instead of addressing the poor quality of the food, she immediately told us we still had to pay for it. At first, she only offered 10% off and a slice of birthday cake, which was honestly insulting considering we couldn't even eat the meal. What made the experience even worse was that she tried to justify the poor quality by saying we came in late and that the food isn't the same at that time. That's simply not an acceptable excuse. If a restaurant is open and serving customers, the quality of the food should be consistent no matter what time you walk in. After going back and forth, she eventually increased the discount to 50%, but still refused to remove the meal from the bill, even though we barely touched it because it was inedible. We weren't looking for a free meal--we just expected food that matched the quality a restaurant should serve and customer service that takes legitimate concerns seriously. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below those expectations, and I won't be returning.
