Yamato - Our delicious sushi combo with 3-rolls, salad, & soup

During a September 2024 vacation with a group, we went to Broadway on the Beach a couple of times. One of the nights the organizer of the trip wanted to go to a Hibachi place. My girlfriend & I didn't care that much about getting hibachi, and it's pretty expensive as hibachi tends to be. We ended up splitting a good amount of sushi rolls. It was a 3-roll combination, which came with soup & salad. I ate the salad & most of the soup, my g/f tried a couple of bites. We also added calamari, which my g/f ate more of, but she shared some. Everything was delicious. And we still got to see the hibachi show that the cook made, which was entertaining. Most of the group got the hibachi, but we weren't the only ones to not do the hibachi. Our sushi & food in general was solid. We also split a wine, which was good too. Staff was pretty nice, but a couple of things ran a bit slow, but overall it was pretty good service. At the end, we asked if they charge a credit card fee (as a lot of restaurants in Myrtle Beach did), and I had large wads of cash prepared to pay cash everywhere, and I was pleasantly surprised when they said no; so I paid credit here.

The restaurant…read morehad a policy that they wouldn't seat incomplete parties, and I completely understood and respected that. That was never the issue. The problem was the way the hostess treated me. She was rude, argumentative, and made me feel personally attacked. Because of the way she spoke to me, I asked to speak with the manager. She told me to "hold on one second" and went to get him. When he came over, I calmly explained what had happened. I wasn't asking to be seated anymore. I simply wanted him to know how I had been treated. I never cursed, yelled, or became abusive. We left peacefully. A few months later, we decided to give Yamato another chance and ate there in May without any issues. Today, we returned for my son's birthday. We had made our reservation two weeks in advance, and I even called earlier today to add one more person to our party. When we arrived, it was the same hostess. She recognized me, told me to wait, and went to get the manager. He then told us we had to leave "for security reasons" because of how I had supposedly treated the hostess last year. I was stunned. Last year, I simply reported what I believed was rude and unprofessional treatment. We had already dined there since then without any problems, so I don't understand why this suddenly became an issue today. Being asked to leave in front of my family on my son's birthday was embarrassing and upsetting. This is now the second negative experience I've had involving the same hostess and management. Based on my experience, I won't be returning, and I hope management takes customer service concerns more seriously in the future.

Every visit was consistently excellent. One of the things that really stood out to us was the variety on the menu. Whether you're craving Korean dishes, sushi, burgers, seafood, or tacos, there truly is something for everyone. The prices were also very reasonable, making it a great option for both tourists and locals. During our visits, we tried fried flounder, sushi, sashimi, chicken hibachi, smash burgers, and a crispy chicken sandwich with a large portion of tender chicken. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The sushi was especially memorable, and we found ourselves ordering the spicy tuna more than once. Happy hour was another highlight. The food and drink specials offered great value, and we loved sitting on the porch enjoying the live music. Our only disappointment was that the music wrapped up at 7:00 p.m. We would have happily listened longer. We also stopped by on Taco Tuesday and sampled the El Pastor, Tasty Tacos, and The Winner. All three were delicious, but the El Pastor tacos were definitely my favorite. I enjoyed them so much that I ended up ordering three of them! If you're visiting the Myrtle Beach area, be sure to add Lava Korean Steakhouse to your list of places to try. If you're local, this is absolutely a restaurant worth supporting. Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices, and a menu that keeps you coming back to try something new.

This is the finest I've ever had in the state of South Carolina! My cousin from Florida also loves to eat sushi. He said it was the best sushi he's ever had anywhere! We were in town one Saturday night in June for a concert and wanted to try the local sushi. I asked Reddit for some good options and Koi was the winner. The setting was dark and quiet, which we enjoyed. Our server was excellent and helped me get my sushi just the way I wanted it (minimal/light rice). It did not take long for our rolls to come. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was out-of-this-world. So fresh and delicious. I didn't even have to use wasabi, which I usually have to use to offset the fishiness of some rolls. I didn't have to use much soy sauce either. I ordered the Mount Fuji Roll, the Kung Fu Roll and a spicy tuna roll, while my cousin ordered a Geisha Roll and a spicy tuna. The food, the service and the ambiance all made for such a wonderful time, that I am torn between going back again or just remembering it for its perfection! Be sure to bring cash since they do charge a credit card fee. They also have clean bathrooms and ample parking. It was totally worth the two-hour drive. Sure wish they'd open a Koi down here!

You will see that everyone has several inches between their backs and the back of the seat. Perhaps some pillows would help solve this issue but the restaurant has none available. The sushi was hit and miss. We likes what was good but we found some of the tuna to be fishy. We left 25% of our food over because it was unpleasant. Service was great and the decor is beautiful. Unfortunately, we'll look elsewhere next time we crave sushi.

21 Main At North Beach - Spicy crunch roll

Our…read moreserver, Tara, was particularly noteworthy for her exceptional knowledge, professionalism, and affable demeanor. These qualities set a high standard for the overall dining experience. While the pricing at 21 Main may be comparable to that of a fine dining restaurant in New York City, it is important to consider that it is one of the few establishments in Myrtle Beach that offers such an experience. This distinction helps to mitigate the high cost. We began our meal with a shared tuna tower, which was of excellent quality. It was evident that the fish used was sushi grade, fresh, and delectable. We also shared a side of broccolini, which was enjoyable but not exceptional. I opted for the Chilean sea bass, which is consistently excellent. Although I am not a fan of Beurre blanc, I was offered compounded garlic butter as an alternative. However, upon reviewing the bill, we discovered an unexpected upcharge. In my opinion, 21 Main should reconsider this practice, especially considering that the ingredients are not significantly different. My husband had the NY strip steak, which was satisfactory, but it was not served at the requested medium-rare temperature. Instead, it was closer to medium. A steakhouse, particularly of this caliber, should not make such an error. The meal concluded with an espresso, which was excellent and served piping hot. Despite the occasional shortcomings, 21 Main remains a favorite dining destination. I hope that the owners will take the time to read this review and consider the feedback provided.

We did not care much for the crunch roll. It is not that bad but for the price we expected better. Now into the good stuff. Seared wagnu is the best we ever had. The inside is not overcooked so you can still taste the freshness of the meat. Both filet and ribeye are cooked perfectly the way we want it. While the outside is crunchy, the inside is still pinky and juicy. The ribeye has more fat than we want but still it is both soft and crunchy at the same time. The drinks are also good. Sake tini is my favorite. Both dessert are excellent. Tiramisu and brulee are mouthwatering tasty. One thing I hate was that they charged us for the steak sauce. I wanted to try different steak sauces and did not know they charged us for each. Hate any places that charge for sauces and that is why 3 stars
