We went hog wild with claw machines this rainy break, so of course this meant we visited Nakoko along with the other much hyped Clawesome arcade nearby. We ended up getting a haul of stuffies from each, spending roughly 25 at each arcade (5 at Clawesome, 7 at nakoko). Pros: Great trade in system to get bigger/ nicer toys. You don't even have to trade in during your visit - you can even bank your credits by turning in animals you don't want. No app needed to operate the machines, just buy good old analog tokens and enjoy that satisfying vintage clanking when they come out of the dispenser . Straightforward to operate. Staff were really nice Lots of Sanrio or cute characters as you'd expect. Cons: Toys feel thin in fabric, not that well made. But they are very cute with a decent selection of boy favorite characters such as Batman, etc Machines are more finicky but they cost less than Clawesome per try, so pick your poison. Expect to be here a while. Machines have the typical packed-together pile of animals which can be harder to lift from than clawsomes few animals on the floor per machine Parking sucks generally for this whole area. A little hard to find being tucked away near the train.

A trade up shop that's great for getting your feet wet for learning how to play claw games. Trust me, I stink at them and to be able to get 5 out of 30 is nothing short of a miracle in my mind. Staff was nice and did try to arrange the plushies in a way that was maybe a little easier especially for all the little kids present. The nice thing is that you can trade in the plushies and save your progress here to earn the big prizes (30 points). If you step out of the store though, all sales final so think before you do. There are token deals right now just because it's the soft opening but otherwise it's about 1 token per dollar.

Brand new claw machine store in DT San Mateo that opened 10 days ago. We met one of the owners (Kelvin) who was very friendly and welcoming. He explained their vision was to get people to win and keep coming back, not to make the claw machines impossible to beat. There's a promo running through the end of the month where you get 30 tokens for $25. They also switch out the plushies pretty frequently, so keep checking back! You can trade in your winnings for bigger items too. They also have multiple levels that aren't open yet, but hopefully will have more things to look forward to in the future.

Nakoko is currently in the soft opening phase. I visited on July 4th 30 minutes prior to closing at 6:00 pm. There's roughly 20 claw machine games available. Each game is one token and one try. There's a limited time promotion where you can get 30 tokens for $25. The concept is really unique, where the arcade games that are eligible, allows you to trade what you win for a bigger prize through a point system. You can also keep the points in your "library" and redeem it later. For any unused tokens, you can either keep them for later use or get a voucher card to load the credit. The tokens are provided in a small blue or orange basket. A clear drawstring plastic bag was provided to hold the prizes (holds up to 10 prizes). There's also a mezzanine upstairs where private parties can be hosted via a reservation. I played for about an hour and was able to win 11 prizes to trade towards a large Cinnamaroll stuffed animal! Ambiance The claw machines were lit with bright blue lights. There's an open area to walk around the main floor, view the games and prizes. Location It's located one block away from the primary downtown area. There's street parking and a parking lot across from it. Customer Service I was able to speak with the co-owner, Anna, who was so helpful and sweet! She mentioned her passion for claw arcade games and another Nakoko location in the SF Sunset District. Looking forward to returning soon!

ADDICTING! Once you visit Nakoko, you'll never want to leave until you've snagged at least one squishie, and once you get one you'll be addicted. I visited Nakoko with my family and we all had so much fun. Claw machines are definitely in and Nakoko is a great place to participate in the trend. With regard to how much money you'll spend, that all depends on your skill level. We were told that best thing to do is stick with the same machine until you get one. This certainly worked for us. I highly recommend checking out Nakoko as it's great for family fun or date night.

Promo to spin the wheel if you spend $25 for 20. You can win an addition 3-5 tokens. Each game was only 1 token and the worker made sure to refill the machines. I personally didn't win many plushies, however a lot of people have buckets (store provided) filled with them. You can also trade your small plushies for larger ones. Overall, great experience and I felt like it was "fair".

    Winnings from Nakoko!

We have enjoyed every visit we had at Nakoko. Our two girls enjoy it so much that our youngest had her birthday party there. The machines are doable and the staff is very friendly. Here is her review (10 year girl) : I liked how we got some many different kind of prizes and they were all easy to win. Nakoko is my favorite claw machine!

Such an amazing and fun experience! They have a Pokemon theme going on (which my son is obsessed with) and he was ecstatic. He told me, "This is the best day ever!" I believe I spoke to one of the owners and he was so kind and really helped my son have such a wonderful time. Highly recommend for anyone that's into claw/arcade games!

We had a lot of fun here! The owner was very nice, explained the trade up system, and they have a fun Lunar New Year promotion going on. What a great way to get out of the house.

Nakoko is so fun! Won lots of prizes. I like that we also have options to trade. Cute selection of prizes!! Friendly service and great atmosphere.

They run multiple parties at the same time and you rotate hourly between the gym, food, and arcade. Gym: Nice play structure with a small area for younger kids. Probably most ideal for kids 3-5. Food: Aside from cake, you have to utilize their food options. We had pizza, fried chicken, juice/water/soda and fruit. The dining area is quite small so if you are expecting more than 30 total people, you will feel like sardines. Arcade: Geared towards young kids, but they also have skeeball. Birthday packages are on the pricey side (starting at $750) so probably would wait until kids are at least 4-5 so that they can enjoy everything.

You'll have to sign again at the register, but it will save you a bunch of time when you arrive. Ok...for our experience. It can feel a little overwhelming when you first arrive if you haven't been there before. Having people walk in, with their own helmets, acting like they own the place will have anyone unsure where they should go or do when they first arrive. The staff make it feel very welcoming and friendly. After I finished check-in, I felt like the people with their own helmet. Tyrez helped me at check-in. He was patient, professional and friendly. When I say patient, I mean PATIENT! I had four kids with me and when it came to head covers alone, he got everyone what they needed even though I had to prompt the kids multiple times to come to a decision. We got there, but it was rough and Tyrez was amazing throughout! He even explained everything to me so that I wouldn't be caught off guard by anything and wouldn't end up frustrated...or at least that is how it felt. Next, know this. When they are running adult races, it's loud in the track area. Because I work safety, I have my watch set to alarm me when the sound exceeds the OSHA permissible exposure limit. It went off a lot. So, I measured the sound. It can get above 100 decibels. That's loud. Not as loud as a rock concert or fire truck siren, but it will make it difficult to have a conversation. You may want to consider ear plugs...or ear buds with noise canceling. The races are run very efficiently and they alternate between youth and adult groups. One safety feature the do great is that they are never on the track, together, at the same time. Safety seemed like it was well managed. When impacts happen, they throttle down the carts, to ensure everything is safe. One note though...and I see this as a huge positive...they let you RACE! Yes, they pay attention and focus on safety, but they don't scold or stop because of a little inadvertent contact. I was truly impressed by the balance they maintain there. In my group of four, two were a little scared and didn't race all the races we purchased (I bought the SpeedPass for each and it seems like a really good package for first timers), but they were amazing at helping me re-assign them to the others in our group. Luis helped me there and again, he was patient with me and helped ensure we got everything transferred correctly. He also answered all 5,000 of my questions throughout our visit. No, not really 5,000, but there were a lot. He was amazing! If I had any criticism at all, it would be for the game area. Many of their games weren't working because of a network error. It was disappointing for me, but it hit the kids hard. They should have someone dedicated to that area as it was never empty while we were there. I would imagine that having all working correctly would result in increased revenue. Overall, we had an amazing adventure there today and Tyrez and Luis were part of the reason why. Their track team was the other part...I just wasn't able to get their names. If you're looking for a new adventure, this is an amazing way to spend a Saturday!!!

Service issues happen from time to time, but what truly keeps customers coming back is the people. We wanted to recognize three team members who have consistently made our family's experience exceptional. **First, Kaydy, the Kids Club Coordinator.** For the past two years, our family has attended countless Kids Club events, and Kaydy has been the heart and soul behind so many of those memories. She greeted every family with a genuine smile and brought so much energy, warmth, and passion to every event. You could tell she truly loved what she did. It wasn't just another job--it showed in every interaction. When we recently learned she would be leaving, we were honestly heartbroken. Before the recent changes to the Kids Club program, events were consistently packed and often fully booked, and we have no doubt Kaydy's dedication played a huge role in building that loyal following. Pinstripes is losing an incredible employee, and any organization would be fortunate to have her. **Next is Ray, the upstairs manager.** Ironically, our first few visits to Pinstripes years ago could have been our last. We experienced recurring issues with our bowling lane and service that left us frustrated. Fortunately, Ray stepped in each time with professionalism, urgency, and genuine care. He resolved every situation quickly and made us feel heard rather than dismissed. The biggest testament to his leadership? After those early visits, we never encountered problems of that magnitude again. We truly believe his attentiveness and commitment to the guest experience played a major role in that. **And finally, Monica, the hostess with the mostest.** If you've been to Pinstripes, you've probably seen Monica constantly helping guests with a smile. She's hardworking, attentive, organized, and always makes us feel welcome. No matter how busy it gets, she takes the time to acknowledge people and make sure they're taken care of. As long-time customers, we can confidently say that while food, bowling, and bocce bring people through the doors, it's employees like Kaydy, Ray, and Monica who keep families coming back. The protein selection felt pretty minimal with mainly prime rib and ham, while most of the buffet consisted of carbs and desserts. On top of that, three of our family members ended up experiencing stomach issues afterward, which we suspect may have come from the chocolate fountain area.
