Is this the best claw game spot in the Bay Area? I genuinely can't think of another place where you actually have a fair shot at winning and don't walk away feeling totally ripped off. They really seem to understand the formula. The machines feel fair, the payouts are frequent enough to keep it exciting, and the kids walk away happy. Let's be real, it is usually all junk in the end, but kids need those dopamine hits too. This place makes it fun and keeps the energy high for the kiddos. It is also located in a great plaza full of solid Asian spots like HeyTea and Somisomi, so you can easily turn it into a whole family outing.

    Plushies

This is a claw machine arcade with a good assortment of plushies and other items. It's $1 a token, and one token per try (except for the Labubu machine, which is four tokens). If you buy token bundles, you can get more, like $20 for 22 tokens, $50 for 58 token plus 1 point, $70 for 80 tokens plus 2 points, $100 for 118 tokens plus 3 points, or $200 for 242 tokens plus 8 points. If it's your birthday month, you can receive 10 additional tokens plus 3 points if you buy any of the token packages ($20 minimum). You can also trade in a small plush the same day you win it for 2 points each. You can accumulate points tracked by your phone number to later redeem for larger prizes behind the counter. We went here with the kids during my birthday month, spent $50 and got 68 tokens and 4 points. We used 59 tokens (had nine leftover for a later visit) and won 7 plushes. The claw machines are a bit easier than the traditional ones but still kind of tricky. Certain styles of plush seemed easier to pick up. If you are struggling at a machine, sometimes a worker will come by and reposition the prize for you so it's easier to win, which we really appreciated. Long story short, kids had fun and won a bunch of plushies. We will be back.

Our kids pulled our first labubus here! Such a great place, there are lots of opportunities to win! Kids always have fun and walk away with a ton of adorable stuffies! Mom likes this place because the kids can trade in their stuffies for points instead of bringing home more "treasures" Stop by for a fun night out with adults or kiddos!

Awesome Birthday experience! Atmosphere: clean, they sanitized the machines, moved toys around when asked, well maintained and spacious. Seating for those waiting on their kids to play. Calming colors. Price: it's reasons since you get to leave with something. Each game takes one token except the Labubu claw machine which was 4 tokens = to $4. Variety of stuffies in each machine. We got five nights at Freddie's, Spider-Man, Maribel from Encanto, cute cat, capybara purse, stitch, star, and much more. We were able to trade for much bigger toys. My son got a huge birthday Capybara for having his party there. This was a great birthday place.

I had such a fun time here! Came to this plaza for ramen and decided to walk around after. We stumbled across this claw arcade! $20 for 25 tokens! You get an extra 10 tokens for your birthday, if it's in that month! Me and my friends split up to try our luck but did not grab anything. We had so much fun trying to get it. When leaving the woman working asked what we won and we laughed and said nothing. She said oh no let me help you! She asked us which one we were trying to get and she put in her own tokens and won the prize. She was so nice to give us the Pikachu! The prices are easy to win. I just think I'm not very skilled. But I did have a amazing time and I would definitely come back next time. I'm in this area! They have great prizes and even have labubus!

Such a fun little place to enjoy as a family, took my kids and they had such a great time! Every time they won a stuffed toy they got excited and so did I. I guess it was our lucky day that day because we filled up our bag with so many! The workers there are also attentive at fixing them so you're able to win at least a couple if not more.

I love playing the claw machines! Came here on a Saturday night with my niece. Let me just start off by saying that this is a busy plaza. It took us a while to find parking. However, we found parking a bit far but found parking. As for the business it was not too busy which was perfect. More chances of us playing together in different machines. We arrived and checked in with the cashier. We decided to test our luck and just went ahead and exchange a $20 dollar bill to tokens. Each game is a token. First machine we tried was the stitch machine. It took us a few tries, but we got the plushy. My niece was so happy and so was I. Then we tried a few other machines some plushies we got on the first try and others it took us a few tries. At the end we ended up with 4 cute plushies. Had a great time! would definitely be back here soon!

I had a hard time winning anything at this claw machine arcade, maybe it was an off night when I went. For $20 and 22 tokens, I actually couldn't win anything even with repositions. However, the owner was very nice and gave me more tokens which allowed me to win 2 plushies. He then played a machine and won me a 3rd prize, which was nice of him but I just wish I could have won it myself lol. I feel like it must have been $40-50 worth of tokens put into the machines to get those 3 prizes I have above average/advanced claw machine skills and could usually win at least 4 or 5 prizes on my own at other claw machine arcades, so it was kind of disappointing to see how maybe the payout or claw strength was weak when I played. However, the owner was very nice and provided really great customer service. He said he wants to make sure nobody leaves without a plushie, so I appreciate that effort. If you're having a hard time winning here, just let the staff know. It seems they are more than happy to help!

I love coming to this claw machine store. It is my favorite in the Bay Area because it is the least rigged especially compared to places like Round One. I come here regularly to play for fun and I get about 4-6 plushies for $20. I always collect my points and turn in for larger prizes. The large plushies are excellent quality and very cute. There are certain claw machine techniques that will help you win more plushies, and I enjoy being able to do that at this claw machine store. I attached photos of some of my favorite large plushies I exchanged for.

We spent hours competing with each other like we were kids again, laughing nonstop and making memories we'll be talking about for a long time. I also have to give a shoutout to my bestie Amy, who was somehow good at every single game. I started the night feeling confident... and ended it just a little jealous. Okay, maybe very jealous. I walked into a space that gets loud and warm during busy periods, and cleanliness varied by section, but the overall setup gave my group plenty of options for a few hours of entertainment. The arcade is the strongest part of the offering. I found the selection of rhythm games solid and reasonably well maintained, and the claw and gacha style machines are what Round1 does better than most chain arcades. That said, individual claw machine plays run around four dollars, which adds up quickly if I am playing multiple rounds, and the tension on the machines is inconsistent enough that results feel more variable than skill based. The prize section near those machines tends to run warm compared to the rest of the floor. Racing games, fighting games, and photo booths fill out the rest of the arcade floor, and the overall variety was broad enough to keep my group occupied. Bowling is available but came with some caveats. The ball selection skewed toward smaller finger holes and very heavy options, with limited middle ground, so bringing my own ball would be worth considering if I bowled regularly. Party packages are available and include shoes and games, which streamlines the booking process for larger groups. For a casual group outing, birthday celebration, or evening with a mix of activities on offer, Round1 covers the bases adequately. Going in with realistic expectations about the cost per activity makes the experience more enjoyable. It is not a refined destination, but for what it is, it delivered a fun few hours.

It was extremely stuffy and warm in May, reminding me of a locker room. I definitely wouldn't want to come back during the summer. We won a decent amount of prizes (albeit we spent $240), but the prizes weren't as cute as the ones I've gone to in SoCal either. It was hard finding a machine where I actually wanted the plush or figurine. They also had 6 different machines just dedicated to kuromi, which is great and all but there just wasn't much variety. Hopefully they update their selection and add more skill based machines.

They are held at California Extreme in Santa Clara, Golden Gate Pinball Festival in Lodi and Pin-a-Go-Go in Dixon. California Extreme is not exclusive with Pinball Machines. There are also tons of arcade games for those who enjoy them. We have enjoyed attending these events whenever we're able to. In the past, our work schedules often got in the way. Now that we're retired, our vacation schedules often cause conflicts. The people who run this event have always done a tremendous job of getting others to bring their beloved machines, set on free play, for the masses to play. In return, they get free admission. A substantial number of volunteers are also needed to load-in, load-out, wipe down, perform minor repairs, scorekeepers, registration, check-in, etc., etc. We attend to see Pinball Machines that we've never seen before, to play with machines that are hard to find, to play new machines, but mostly to play in the tournament. Yes, there are cash purses and trophies or plaques to be one. Bragging rights galore! But for players at my level, it's mostly about WPPR Points that affect your International Flipper Pinball Association Ranking. As I write this review, I am 8640 out of 103,576 players in the world. Does it mean anything? Only to my ego. At one time, I was sub-3000. I simply don't play in enough tournaments to keep my ranking. This year's tournament entry fee was $2 per game. That is not particularly expensive BUT there was no limit to the number of entries that one could purchase. This changes that tournament of skill and luck to one of skill, luck and DEEP POCKETS. In my opinion, there should be a single buy-in. Everyone plays the same number of games on the games that are available. Yes, this will reduce the prize money but so what? Whatever happens, happens. If you have a great day, congratulations. If you have a lousy day, better luck next year. But under the unlimited buy-in, you just keep putting out money until you have a few good games to tie together for your final score. What? The tournaments almost over but you're in 11th place and only the first 10 places are in the money. Well, play some more and hope to improve your score and win! Anyway, without the tournament to play in, I will either only attend California Extreme one day only or skip it all together moving forward. Additionally, this year, for the first time, the Hyatt is now charging $40 to park overnight. This was either not disclosed at the time of booking or I somehow missed it. When I complained, it was discounted $20 because I was staying there for California Extreme and another $10 because I'm a Hyatt member. I was told that, "all the other area hotels are charging more for parking and the Hyatt is just trying to catch up." There was a 49ers exhibition game on Saturday, August 19th, and parking was expected to be at a premium and traffic would be a zoo. To counter that, we arrived way early to get a space. We arrived at 8:30 for a 10:00 opening. Because we left the house so early, we didn't have time to eat breakfast, but we had plenty of down time in the hotel (check-in was at 3:00pm), so we opted for breakfast in the hotel (see our review for Evolution). Breakfast Buffet at $28 per person vs Continental Breakfast at $22 per person. So, while California Extreme is still lots of fun, between the costs and the crowds and a Deep Pocket Tournament, it may be time for us to move on.
