I was in Anastasia State Park for an event, and asked a friend of mine from the area to recommend a good spot to eat. Without hesitation, she recommended Nalu's. I convinced my group to drive to Nalu's (we were already at another restaurant) and I must say I was disappointed. The fish WAS fresh and cooked well, but everything else was sub par at best. I ordered the pier right tacos and a side of salsa (almost $11). The salsa came in a little plastic container where restaurants put their sauces in. The flavor of the salsa was alright, but definitely not worth the price! The rice that came with my tacos was flavorless and sticky, the beans were hard, my chips were soggy, and the tacos did not have much flavor. The guys in the truck were great, but I think I would have gotten a better taco somewhere else. We left hungry. Cute little taco truck, but unfortunately I fail to see what the hype is about. Edit: I paid a $1 extra for salsa, when the meal was supposed to come with it anyway. I didn't receive any salsa when I picked up my order, and when I asked for it afterwards I got two (there were three of us). read more

Nalu's is a roadside stand next to the Surf Station on the way from Saint Augustine city to the beach. It's nearby the Alligator Farm, in case you are going there for the day. And usually it's next to a water ice (snowball) stand, but that was closed when I visited due to an illness in the family. Nalu's is not fancy and does not have a lot of offerings. It's good, but it's not amazing so much that you would be dying to go back. Still, there aren't a lot of great options after O'Steen's and Nalu's is always pretty solid. The fish is not fishy, the tacos are pretty good. It's a great post-beach option, that is for sure. read more

Great little food truck located right near the St. Augustine Lighthouse, Alligator Farm, Anastasia State Park, etc. I had the Baja Fish Tacos with beans and rice -- delicious! Service was friendly and quick. There are picnic tables right next to the truck. For a nicer seating area, I walked over to the table on the back side of the parking area, next to the Surf Station building. Stopped here for a quick bite before a concert at the amphitheater and I'm really glad I did. I got the chicken quesadilla because it was easier to eat while walking and it was surprisingly good, crispy tortilla and quality chicken. Their Baja sauce was awesome too. My wife is vegan and they were very accommodating. She got mango salsa on hers (with no regard to the suffering of farm raised mangoes) and reported a pleasant taste journey as well. 100% worth checking out. read more

Nalu's provides a delicious lunch with a quaint ambiance. It is literally at the entrance to the Anastasia state park, so if you want to have a little to look at while you eat, just hop in your car and take your lunch on the road. Within two minutes you can be overlooking a gorgeous sandy beach with the warm ocean air. The only drawback of this place is their steak. Just skip it. The fish and chicken options are amazing, their steak is overcooked and dry. I can't really blame them, I guess I just hope too much, I mean, steak from a food truck? One can dream. If you are camping nearby this spot must feel like Nirvana. However, I made a stopover off of 95 and did not feel impressed. For a food truck, I expected either unique flavor or generous portions. My partner and I ordered the Tropical Fish Tacos and the Spinach Shrimp Wrap. The fish tacos were refreshing and flavorful, however we were charged an extra 1$ because we asked to have the Tropical salsa on the side. The spinach shrimp wrap was all spice, no flavour. We wished Nalu would have the spiciness level on some of their items, because the shrimps were heavily seasoned with cajun and it made both of our mouths burn! The "sushi rice" inside the wrap was very mushy and not pleasant. Overall, the food was okay. We enjoyed the fish tacos, but were very disappointed in the spinach wrap and the +1$ for tropical salsa on the side request. The service was friendly though. read more

OH MY GOSH! We love Nalu's. Every time we go St. Augustine, we have to stop by here if they are open and grab some tuna poke. They pack it up perfectly to go with the rice at the bottom and some veggies. They also give you warm, crisp and fresh tortilla chips in a brown bag, which is perfect for our drive home. Now I have been to a whole keeping load of food trucks. One even claims to be the oldest. But, again Dagwood your wrong. Nalu's has been located here in St Augustine for some 15 years. You were still working at McD's when they stayed. Ok now I have been going to the surf station since they opened their doors back in 80's. We used to surf "Blow Hole" back in the day. Now Nalu's is a small little trailer that serves up some pretty fine grinds. They have a large menu that iOS basically tacos and burritos with most of them served with seafood. Fish and shrimp but they also have some steak and hamburger tacos for you land lovers. Today I went with a couple baja fish tacos and a poke bowl. The soy sauce marinaded version. I will say that the bowl was quite tasty with a good marinade to it. That means that it was a lot more then just tuna with some soy poured over it when they make it. It was really marinaded. It had some really good salty flavors that was complimented with the fried rice and cabbage. It was a strong dish. The tacos were also pretty tasty with a fair amount of fish. It could have been blackened a smidgen more but that's just me. I did like that there wasn't anything that didn't need to be there. If I order fish tacos I want fish and some cabbage and some onions and some maybe sauce of some kind. That's it not any fillers no flim flam and other BS. Nalu's is a staple when near St. Augustine Beach / Anastasia State Park. Our routine is to do take out and go into the State Park to eat at a picnic table. We love the Tuna Tacos and the beef burrito are fabulous too. I would entourage you to pay an extra $1 for a side of Mango Salsa. The wait can be 10 minutes but the food is made to order on a grill inside the small truck, one can happily wait for good food. They have some tables with umbrellas off to the side if you want to relax before the best beach tacos this side of the "Big" island is ready. read more

Great little roadside place. We asked about the name, and the owner said he used to live in Hawaii and named the place for the Hawaiian name for ocean waves. We had the fish tacos, and I loved how fresh his food was. We did have to spice it up with extra salsa since we lived in Houston for 9 years and love our food with extra kick. The owner referred to it as red sauce, but in actuality it's pretty close to the pico de gallo we were used to in Texas. We would definitely eat here again if we were in the area. read more

I had all intentions of just camping out and grilling food over a fire at Anastasia Island State Park in St Augustine, Florida. However, after a long drive my boyfriend and I discovered a little trailer on the corner of Anastasia Blvd within walking distance of the campground. The sign read: "Voted best fish tacos on the beach, 2014 St Augustine, FL." That seemed promising, so we gave it a shot. Little did we know(despite my skepticism of advertising) how true this really was. I had the Baja Fish tacos. Absolutely divine. The Mahi Mahi was fresh and perfectly seasoned. It was not only the best fish taco, I've ever had, but one of the best meals I have ate in awhile for the price of 8.75 which came with rice and beans. It was so good, we ate there for lunch the next day. It made an equal impression on my boyfriend. He even asked if they shipped to Indy. No such luck. Highly recommended.
